Huge shout out to the owners. They are true embodiment of local business. I needed an urgent last minute alteration and was calling everyone on Friday evening. The owner asked me to come over and he will give a shot at 6 pm of Friday. Mind you they were officially closed. He was worried that I won't find anyone at that hour so he wanted to help me out. He tried for over 30 minutes to find a solution, even when his kids were waiting for him. In the end he asked his wife to take a break from her job and help me out. Which she did. This is NOT a professional business nor is the owner Vinod a professional owner of his store. The only reason I came here was because it was close to my house. Now I'll never come back and I'll do more research next time. I took 2 cashmere sweaters here... got them back still unwashed... even more dirtier then when I brought them here. Some kind of coper metal string was attached in the sleeve ... fuzzy balls all over both garments even a hole in it! When I had specifically asked Vinod if he could get rid of the fuzzy balls he said "yea yea sure just bring here"... I shouldn't have given this person the benefit of the doubt because he forsure is a liar. Seems like the owner was just lying through his teeth to get a sale. I'm all about supporting small businesses but I expect honesty. After I told him I wasn't going to pay he said to just take my sweaters and go. I'm sure losing just me as a customer and $32 is nothing to him because he'll just scam another person on another day. Shame. All he could really say was "what is the problem? They are washed ... I put them in the machine and pressed the button." Honestly what kind of answer is that ?? I could have kept my things and thrown them in the wash myself. I'm sure this guy has NO clue about how to properly clean or dry anything. I asked for my other 3 items back that were supposed to be hemmed and his first answer was that he couldn't find it and the altercations lady wasn't there. I told him that wasn't my problem and he needed to figure it out cause I wasn't going to leave and come back for the 3rd time. I had to tell him to call the lady ... I had to tell him how to do his job and even asked why he didn't know where anything was if he was the owner and how come he didn't know where his employees keep things. Shameful experience seriously! The shop is so unorganized...bags of people's garments all over the place. Anyways he eventually found my stuff and they hadn't even been hemmed ! I left my stuff there for 1 week and nothing was done. Thank God but still how is he going to tell customers to come back at a certain time and not even have done anything ?! This place should not be in business at all ! Vinod does not care about his customers or his store. I'll give this place just 1 star for the lady who listened to my concerns and her name was Dimple. This is the original review I wrote: ********************************************************* I brought a Barbour Ashby Wax Jacket to this place to be cleaned. The jacket is only a few months old. When we picked up the jacket, my son noticed the color was slightly off. The owner ensured us they did not do anything wrong. Per him, they had dry-cleaned the jacket according to the label's instructions. We trusted his words and left. We found later that the care label explicitly says Do Not Dry Clean. We figured out why the color was off -dry cleaning removed all the wax, a unique feature of this classic jacket that makes it waterproof. My son splashed some water on the jacket, and water stains appeared. This jacket has been ruined. More alarming is how he dealt with me when I asked to be compensated. He never apologized for the mistake they made. He never clearly admitted any wrong. He hardly replied to my texts. He was hoping that by not responding, I would go away. I only asked for part of the amount my son paid for the jacket, which would cover re-waxing plus all shipping and handling costs. Finally, I thought we had agreed on a dollar amount. But when I went to his store to pick up the jacket and a check, I was shocked to find that he would not let me take the jacket home. He was going to keep the jacket! I never said he could keep the jacket in all my communications with him, which I saved. In all the communications, never did he ask to keep the jacket! When I refused to leave the store without a resolution, he said that he would call the police, and he dialed on his phone. I wanted the police to come, so I waited. Do you know what happened? He never called the police! He lied one more time! The owner of the store is a very sneaky and dishonest man. He lied about following the instructions on the care label. He tried to trick me into giving him an almost-new jacket. Right there in front of my face, he lied about calling the police. His customers don't see this side of him when things go well. It is in these critical moments that his true character has been exposed! He does not care about his customers. He does not care about fairness. He does not care about honor and integrity. He is betting that there is not much I can do as a consumer. I will bring him to small claims court first, and may get a lawyer later. He needs to learn a lesson. My wife took a pair of boy slacks to here to get them hemmed. Son needed for school concert on Saturday morning. She left slacks there on Monday and told them we needed it by Friday. Friday morning comes and she calls to see when she can pick up the slacks. The slacks were not hemmed and they told her, she can get them on Saturday. She told that would not work and she had specifically told them we needed it by Friday. They said ok we will have them ready by 5 or 6 pm. Well attached is the hem job they did. Looks amateurish. I think I could have done a better job and I can't sew. Like another reviewer says this business should not be offering this service if this is the quality they produce. I came here and got my clothes cleaned before and had no problems. So when I needed to get my dress hemmed for a wedding it was an absolute nightmare. They did a horrible job, I could have sewed it better! The pics are proof, DO NOT GET YOUR CLOTHES SEWED HERE! They shouldn't even provide this service. She only sewed the first layer and neglected the second layer!!! The second layer was 2" longer than the top and there was blue market all over the dress! Luckily, I found a professional seamstress in Union City off Alvarado Niles and Central that was able to fix it for me and she had to take it all apart to fix it. I dropped off a few shirts to have dry cleaned and Vinod did a great job with them. They were finished on the day that he promised and they were impeccably cleaned and pressed. Not related to the dry cleaning, but Vinod helped me out when I returned to my car and found that it wouldn't start. He went off to fetch his car, parked it next to mine, and gave me a jump. Vinod didn't have to do this, since his store was essentially unsupervised while he drove his car over and helped, so I really appreciated it. While we waited for my car's battery to build up a charge, we spoke and Vinod mentioned that Covid has devastated his business and livelihood. Nowadays, with the majority of people working from home and special events and gatherings not happening, he is only receiving a fraction of the business that he used to and it is barely keeping the business open. If you have any clothes or items that you've been saving up to get dry cleaned, altered, or washed, please considering supporting this in town, small business owner and family man. So we had continued to use this place for years, but the last 6 months has gone from A-OK to Egads! It used to be that we saw the occasional replaced button. When they press, buttons sometimes break, and they ALWAYS sewed on a new button before handing our garments back. Over the past few trips, we have had 6 shirts (out of maybe 20-25 total in that time frame) come back with buttons missing and no notice. You wake up, grab a shirt, and realize you need a new shirt. When I went back to point it out and pick up a load, the load had a shirt with missing buttons, an extra shirt (wasn't even ours), and a very expensive shirt with spots all over it. I don't know what happened to cause a dramatic change in service, but this has been a 6-month decline. The only thing saving it from 1 star is that they are still cheaper compared to others, but when 25% of your stuff comes back with missing stuff, the price matters a whole lot less. read more
