Service was very fast, not many tables and we came on a friday afternoon. Waitress was very attentive, frequently checked in on us if we needed anything and refilled our broths often. Inside it is vibrant, with a staff that is warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. Ordering was easy. You can choose hot pot, bbq, or both! Each table has an iPad so you can order refills of all the delicious meats, seafood, and vegetables. There is a huge variety of items to choose from. The beauty of it is that you can try a little bit of everything. For the hot pot there are an unheard of 5 different broths available. I went with the original, my husband, had the chicken, my eldest the medium spicy, and my youngest had the miso. All were flavorful and delicious. We went to Volcano for a birthday party a couple of months ago. We had a reservation for a table and were promptly seated when we arrived. Just a heads up, they don't do reservations unless it's a group of 4 or more I believe. The atmosphere was somewhat energetic, lots of people laughing and having a good time. I had not been to a Korea BBQ place like this before. How it works is they charge a flat rate for BBQ or Hot Pot but you can do both if you are hungry for an extra charge. You have 2 hours to order your food but they didn't rush us out while we were still chatting and having fun. They charge you for any washed food so I wouldn't go crazy but they are also forgiving too. Don't feel like you need to finish every stray chili on your plates, from how it was explained to us is this was more for cases where people left a lot of food on their plate to toss away. Our server was Lia and she was really nice and attentiv; she explained the whole process clearly to us and was very helpful! She even bought us a round of shots because of the occasion! The service in general was very good, with people coming out to get us new grills to cook on and such. The actual cooking process was pretty straight forward, they bring out the meat and you grill it to your liking. They will give you tips and tell you how to do grill if you're feeling unsure about it. The Bulgogi was probably my favorite but the steak and pork belly were also great. I recommend giving this place a shot. It was a fun time, the food was good, and the service was excellent! Food to price ratio was appropriate to the amount of times we reordered (4X) our kalbi, bulgogi, steak, pork belly and chicken entree's on the grill. Veggies broccoli,zucchini, mushrooms were in sizable edible pieces and fresh. I found the bachan or side dishes of kimchee, radish and cucumber starting to turn mushy and beginning to go sour. Of course, this may be attributed to not restocking the sides as the trays were almost empty. Dessert offered was a coconut yellow cake, red velvet cake , ice cream and fruit. Went for a friends birthday, the service was great! We enjoyed our food and had a good time. The decor is bright and really inviting, there's a giant wall with an animation of water that is contributes to the vibes. The menu is expansive and there are lots of sauces and sides to pick from. My husband and I love this place so much we brought our friends here after our wedding in lieu of a formal reception and it's now a regular birthday dinner spot! I love the wide variety of options in terms of the types of food you can get, everything comes in huge portions, and the all-you-can-eat hot pot is well worth the price. This place is great if you want to give cooking your own food a try, and it is pretty easy to get the hang of. It's one of the only places I've been able to try frog legs, and I love the lamb and tteok and pumpkin slices! The screens and decor can be kind of overwhelming and it does get hot cooking at your seat, but it's fun. The staff are great, check on us regularly, and are always accommodating of my mobility aid. Let me start by saying that this was a really nice experience! I came here for my birthday dinner to treat myself to a new experience. We were welcomed right away and were asked if we had beer before or were new guests. I affirmed this was the first time and the host told me that the server would explain everything and answer any questions that we might have. Lia came over and introduced herself and was super helpful with all my questions! The food here is okay but I would come back just to see and talk to Lia! She really was wonderful and deserves recognition for her excellent customer service! Now to answer a few questions that I had: 1. It is a flat rate per person for Korean BBQ 2. You can add the Hot Pot for an additional fee 3. NO, you cannot take any of your leftovers home! 4. In fact, if you waste food they reserve the right to charge you an additional $15 per pound of food wasted. So make sure you are conservative with what you order. 5. You are timed. You can keep ordering on the digital order pad for 2 hours after you are seated. You aren't rushed out in general though, you can hang out with your party as long as you like. Now back to business. Lia told us that they weren't super strict especially since it was our first time and didn't know the process. Lia gave the whole table free shots for my birthday AND they gave me a free birthday dinner!! I thought this was super generous! You just have to show your I.D. I would definitely recommend this for a fun experience! Oh and I would recommend that you do both the BBQ and the Hot Pot combo as well! Several of us had waited patiently for them to open after months of promotion, so we were excited to finally make it after a grand opening little over a month ago. Apparently no reservation was needed for the four of us, and we had no trouble getting a table on a recent Saturday for dinner. The decor certainly set the mood the moment we walked in, and although there was a lot going on everywhere we looked (shooting starts on the ceiling?!), I was personally glad that their lighting was just right so that it wasn't neither blinding nor inadequate. The waitstaff was perfectly attentive and patient which was refreshing, and the ordering via iPad was efficient once we got the hang of the pace. Several highlights from our BBQ dinner: + The meats were good quality and we enjoyed most of them, especially salmon, beef bulgogi, marinated pork belly, and short rib. + I love that each person gets their own tongs - a nice touch! + The self-service station with sauces, sides, desserts, and a drinks fridge is perfectly suitable, and I particularly enjoyed their cucumber kimchi and radish. + AYCE Lettuce. This excites me as much as AYCE meats. + Their veggie selection is solid, and we loved the classics like mushrooms and onions. The two things that left me with questions are (1) the use of bottled water vs the typical water jug with cups, if only because of my concerns about use of plastic that could easily be minimised, and (2) lack of blinds because two of us in the group had the sun on us and had to have our hands up to block it out for a long while, which was an inconvenience. We were told that they had ordered the blinds, so I hope this is addressed for future visits. This was all in all a great introduction, and the place was packed by the time we left. Didn't expect to see a Hotpot place in Niskayuna, but here we are. Saw reviews on Yelp and we decided to visit. Went for dinner on a weeknight. Place was busier than I expected but we were seated right away. Server was excellent and she explained how this works. I sat through it just in case there was something specific to this place. Decided to get both the BBQ grill option and the Hotpot too for only $5 extra per person. Decided on the original broth. It was too mild for my taste. Significant other went with the medium spiced broth, which she found a bit more spicy than she expected. Select meats and veggies from an iPad. Menu and selection process on the iPad was intuitive. I did see some paper menus too so that's an option for people that prefer paper option? Food arrived very quickly. Food was of excellent quality, and where seasoning and marinate was called for it was properly done. There is a large (for around here) sauce bar so you can pick up your own condiments. Very nice. Server was attentive. Swapped out grill plate when it started to get charred. Additional orders were quickly filled. Impressed with service speed and attention to details. Had a really good time. Place has a nice ambiance. Large screen serves as wall displayed sceneries of videos from across the world. I probably overate as this is an AYCE setup. Skipped desserts because of that. I love KBBQ and Hot pot! I was so excited when a new spot that offered both was opening locally, and it's more affordable than other local options. I will come back again and again. The place is stunning. Modern and bright, a great place for a date night or girls night out. We were seated and explained the menu. The set ups were really nice. First thing to do was select a hot pot broth. I played it super simple with a miso broth, but next time I'll go spicy. We then placed out first order on the tablet, and then headed over to the self serve sauce station. With a bunch of different sauces available, your options are endless on the sauces you can build. Sweet, spicy, savory, peanut, sesame, so many options! One thing I found interesting was the self serve can soda and bottle water. It seems wasteful, but maybe they have their own reason for not having draft line. I was a little disappointed they were out of sake that night, so I went with wine and a bottle of water. By the time we returned to our table, the meats and sides were piling up. ready to grill or drop in the soup. We ordered a bunch of beef, lamb, seafood, ready to eat apps, veggies, etc. Some of my favorites were the Cubed Ribeye, Bulgogi, Spare Ribs, Clams and the ready to eat apps were great too! Had been excited to try this restaurant but unfortunately we were not happy with our experience last night. We were asked if we had been before and if we knew how they worked. We said it was our first time and no we didn't. We were told to read the pad on how to order and how to cook. (We were given a printed copy of items to look at though) Told where the sauce was but nothing more about that. Ready to eat items came out cold. Once we ordered, items came out but the way that happens was pretty haphazard. We got our proteins right away but when I asked for a knife, I was told to use the scissors (I had been wondering why they were on the table - guess I should've realized that-lol). We got vegetables at different times and it was a good 15 minutes before I even got my mushrooms and second time I was only give 1 of the 2 I ordered.. We had also ordered rice on the first round and never got it so we ordered it again on the second round and we got it just as we were finishing up. I said something to the waitress who let me know that that happens a lot with the rice??? I've been to Volcano Asian BBQ several times now and it's quite good! I am not just saying this because it's a fairly new establishment but because it really takes a lot to offer options that entail lots of ingredients. I am impressed by the variety offered for both hot pot as well as Asian BBQ. By the way if you are up for it you can actually have both altogether. Personally I would not choose to do hot pot and bbq again as I find it a bit busy and somewhat stressy to man the grill along with my own personal sized hot pot. But hey go for it, if you are up for the challenge! Since it's unlimited you really have to be picky about the items you order. On the upside I feel there's less waste because they bring you however much you want but it is portion sized to one or two people per order. Also the fact that you can place the order with the waitstaff as well as on your tablet at the table is super! The well stocked sauce station is quite impressive and has recipe suggestions depending on your taste too. Love love the salads offered there. The seaweed salad, kimchi and spicy cucumber salad all yum! There was not a lot of dessert just fresh fruit and a few small pastry bites when I was there but it did not take away from my overall foodie experience as I was in it for all the shellfish, salmon and shrimp that I could have. The rest of my party indulged in proteins galore both marinated as well as cooking it naturally to dip in our customized sauces made. I almost forgot to mention that you can help yourself to bottled water and soft drinks too as much as you want included in your dinner price, wow. They are definitely on top of their game as there is ample staff to clear off your table, bring you your items ordered as well as answer any questions you might have. They change out your grill grate before it burns from the marinated foods and that is a nice touch. Nobody enjoys grilled food with excessive charring on it. We did just hotpot and filled up on a great variety of veggies and tofu preparations. There are two vegan broth options: miso or mushroom. I got mushroom but I didn't love it. I would try miso next time. The mushroom broth was bland and didn't impart any flavor to the veggies cooked in it. My only critique is that I wish there was a "no-meat" price option. You pay one price (which is over $40 per person) for all-you-can-eat. If you eat meat/seafood, that's a decent deal. As a vegan, I can't really justify the price. Great experience on a very busy night for Valentine's Day. We made a reservation which was definitely needed on the holiday as it got busy quick after we arrived. We absolutely love that at this spot you don't have to choose between bbq or hot pot, you can do both at the same table! Our server was fantastic, we had lots of questions and she was so helpful. We loved all of options for meats and veggies, we also had noodles in the hot pot which is a must! Everything seemed excellent quality and super fresh. Easy to use the iPad to order items as we went. This was my first experience, having hot pot and barbecue. The atmosphere was amazing and appeared to be very welcoming. Quite honestly the food was great and we all had fun. The only negative aspect was the waitress. She was not willing to explain a few things when asked, and when we had trouble ordering food, she was again not willing to help us simply saying oh the food must've went to another table or try using another phone. UNIQUE! Yes there are other BBQ places and yes there are other hot pot places, but the interior, service, vibe, sauce bar is what makes this place. The interior is literally so cool. It is in a plaza so there is plenty of parking. Table setting has a grill in the center that's shared by the table but each place setting that their own hot pot so each people has the ability to choose their own broth which is actually genius. There's also a sauce bar for you to create your own dipping sauces. We came for the soft opening so I think they will likely change this, but at the time they had drink included and drinks were soda in cans. Additionally to top off your dinner you had your choice of ice cream. Tons of meat options that are marinated. They also have a bunch of veggies, rice, noodle options as well. They really did an amazing job making sure the grill grate was changed enough. I've been to other BBQ places and it was definitely not changed enough. Hot pot was also great, our server made sure our broth never ran low. It's nice that everyone has their own individual broth, so there could be a variety within the group! The iPad menu they have for ordering was a breeze to use, and the food came out so quick! They also change the bbq grate very frequent, you could tell they keep an eye on it and do not want you to burn any food due to things sticking.
