I went here to get my hair shaped up and get a shag style haircut; Jason gave me the best hair cut I have ever had. My hair is super thin and he worked his magic to give it some volume and he even showed me how to style it with a curling iron. Kat cut my hair yesterday. I have short hair, and when I left there it was shorter than I liked. She suggested cutting it over my ears; turned out that was unflattering on me. My sister's critique when she saw it was not very complementary. Will be relieved when it grows out. Update: Nearly three weeks later, the haircut is looking more flattering and fashionable. Tonight at yoga everyone looked at me and complemented my haircut! As it grows I like it much better and appreciate the style and cut. I'll preface this by saying I don't get my haircut as often as I should but Kat definitely made my hair look and feel so much healthier after visiting the salon. The staff was very welcoming and the space was bright, clean and comfortable. I showed a photo of the style I desired and Kat did a great job sticking to that... Generally stylists end up cutting off way more hair than I ask. I now still have a nice length and it even seems to have a little more volume (which is awesome because I have very fine hair) .. We used VolumeONE for our wedding day and the results were fabulous! Thanks to Kim and Brittany our entire bridal party looked amazing. They traveled right to our hotel and even to the venue to do touchups. Could not have asked for better service. Loved going into the salon as well for my bridal trial. The atmosphere felt fun and relaxed, but it was definitely a well run business that catered to the clients. One of the best experiences I've had at a hair salon. They got me in super quick, the next day in fact, from when I called to make an appointment. I initially went in for just a cut but once I sat down and the stylist looked at my hair, she noticed I had about a year old dye in( which was visibly obvious), so she helped suggest a few options that could help. So I decided to go with it. I ended up doing a gloss to help blend in the color and then continued with the cut where I had it trimmed and layered. One of the best hair cuts I've had and she didn't just chop off my hair like most places would when you ask for a trim. I was super thrilled with the end result and was even amazed by the price. Super affordable. Other than my hair dresser, the salon itself was very clean and presentable and the other stylists were very welcoming and courteous. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who is trying to find a good salon! read more

I have mixed feelings for this place. The girls who did hair I'll start with... Although they were over an hour late, I was lucky enough to get my hair done by Anna who was both super trendy and talented and fun! Anna created an amazing updo for me that stayed all night long and withstood the wind and humidity we all know to be present on the Beach. I highly recommend you make them your hairstylists of choice for a wedding or any occasion at their awesome salon downtown Pensacola. She gets a 5 star rating and the assistant who curled hair was nice too. The makeup girls were outsourced I believe or recommended by Volume One but we're late as well. The moment they walked in they asked us to move furniture and made us move a crib and many other things when they should have. Then the cost was estimated at $75 prior to them coming. They asked if you wanted lashes and also mentioned that airbrush is the way to go but it's an addtl $20 so they were upfront about that... But when the first girl got done her ticket read $161 so we thought that was for hair and makeup which seemed right but it wasn't. The hair was $90 on top of that so we quickly found out they were adding $10 for lashes and adding 18% gratuity and a travel fee but the numbers didn't add up... And they weren't forthcoming about it. So everyone's was different and the math was not right and everyone was pretty furious. I've had hair done in NY and makeup done in several cities and nothing has ever come close to the cost they were charging. So the big kicker was this "travel fee" which is does state in the contract but it's absurd : it's $225 for 1 hour for 1 hair person then $100 / hr After that. So to do 11 girls that takes a while so the travel fee came out to $375. Are you serious???? We were staying over a $1 toll and about $5 in gas away -- what does the travel fee cover? The bride got frustrated and paid the whole thing so for her hair and makeup plus the two jr. Bridesmaids plus travel fee was $774!!!! We don't expect a discount because we knew them and we never asked for a deal but we truly feel we got ripped off. Really disappointed and hope you consider going with another salon that doesn't charge an arm and a leg. read more

I saw Kristen a few times and I will still continue to see her in the future. I think that it is very important to have a hair stylist that listens and Kristen is one that listens and tries to accommodate her clients. I have been to several that only does what they think is good to the point of disregarding what the client wants. Kristen is a true professional. She is kind and easy to talk to. I asked for a layered haircut that suits me and that is what she tried to do so I left the salon happy :-) Another plus in going to this salon is that they don't do nails so the air is not toxic compared to places that I have been before where I come home with a headache. read more

This was the second time I've been to this salon and the second time I've been disappointed. For some reason my stylist angled my haircut so its longer in the front and shorter in the back. Yes!! Since moving down here from DC I've been extremely hesitant about finding the right stylist to cut my hair. This place was awesome. I called to ask for any openings and the man on the phone hooked me up w Gaby for a cut and blow dry the same day. The salon itself has a really cool converted warehouse look and the staff is super friendly. As I waited I was offered a drink -wine, beer, soda, water... Gaby did a great job and was easy to talk to. She started by using a clarifying shampoo in my hair - being a 'low poo' user I tend to get a lot of build up if I'm not consistent with washes and such. The cut she did was exactly what I asked for. A slight V in the back, lots of layers, keeping as much length as possible. After the blow dry I left feeling beautiful! And it was less than $40! That's half of what I would normally pay my stylist back home. On a side note- the girl sitting 2 chairs down got an amazing ombré done. The blonde was a perfect beige and the brown was rich and dark. Really compliments her skin tone. Considering getting an all over color done here. Pics coming soon. read more

Last year, I moved back from San Diego and was so sad to leave my amazing stylist. When I arrived in Pensacola, I was very apprehensive about the salons I was researching. Usually in small towns (yes, Pensacola is a small town), the hairstylists are close-minded and uneducated, stuck in the styles of 2005. That being said, I went downtown and stumbled upon this incredibly stylish and up-to-date salon. I made an appointment with Elliot, and I have never looked back. I was so impressed with the staff and the atmosphere! They are so knowledgeable and they take classes all the time to keep up with what's new. I now refuse to let anyone else touch my hair. This pricey salon let me down. Out of 3 visits, twice I was handed to secondary people that sweep the floors for blow dry and glaze. My initial visit was to restore my hair. The stylist apparently over books.The cost for this visit was over $350.00 dollars for color, shampoo, style and products for moisture damaged hair. The 3rd visit, the manager called me at home saying she didn't process my credit card and wanted the number to put through another charge. I could see the charge was pending in my bank so I told her no, that would hold up almost $400.00 dollars of my money. They call to confirm your appt and time, but don't call to say they are running late. I stand at the desk and the manager is on the phone and she totally ignores me. One hairdresser there had a vulgar shirt on with the "F" bomb on it, spelled out. For what they charge, and the location, I think a better class of people is in order here. All total for 3 visits I spent over $700.00 dollars not including the 80.00 dollars in tips and I think I deserved better treatment. I took off of work so I could get an appt even though I book 6 weeks in advance the stylist didn't even acknowledge my presence. Out of all the people I dealt with there, the hostess, Jimmy is the only decent one with any class and I will bet you he gets paid the least. Move on Jimmy, you are better than that. Never again, my hard earned money is best spent elsewhere. read more

I have lupus and I am loosing my hair so I thought it would be a good idea to go to a higher class salon I was so excited, I made an appointment at volume one and I was hoping for a volume cut and color and I did get a great color but my hair looks like some one chopped it and it looks thinner than it already was after 300 dollars I was crying and my hair still looks so bad I am now having to buy extensions to put in my hair , money down drain and my hope down drain !!!! This place is awesome. I've been to several salons in Pensacola and was not impressed at all. Decided to give VolumeOne a shot and the moment I walked in I knew this place was legit. Kat who did my hair, was amazing and gave me one of the best cuts I've gotten in a really long time! Hurst and Courtney pitched in to make sure the cut was perfect. Honestly, I was really surprised at how amazing the cut turned out. And let's not forget the head massage. They put some kind of magical shampoo with exfoliating properties, and give you the best head massage of your life. I can't even describe how amazing it is. Bottom line, for $25+tip (for men) you're not going to get anything close to the quality of service/skill that VolumeOne has to offer. I made an appointment with Katherine, and though I had gotten a call to reschedule due to some issues at the salon, I was fit in for the next week. I went to Volume ONE Salon based off of other Yelp reviews. I was impressed from the moment I walked in. I was greeted by a friendly receptionist and immidiately offered a coffee, water, or beer. It was inviting and relaxing from start to finish. Marissa was my stylist and I am already in love. She made my hair look amazing and did not rush. My hair is long, thick, and curly and she had me walking out of there feeling like a movie star. I asked for recommendations on products to use but at no point ever felt pressured to buy any (but I did). I already booked a follow-up appointment for color and a cut. I only got a cut and style at this appointment due to the short notice of my appointment. Their location in the heart of downtown Pensacola which makes it perfect for a day trip of shopping and walking along Palafox. My mom went with me and was so impressed that she booked an appointment with another stylist who comes recommended for short hair. The price for the cut and style and all the products that I bought was far less than what I have been used to paying when living in Las Vegas.
