The word volunteer means someone who is willing to do things for others -- and in my experience with Volunteer Taxi, it completely embodied its own name. We were stopping in Nashville for a few days on our way down to Florida. Our car broke down and a series of events happened that was like a Frank Capra movie. Everywhere where we looked people were kind and helpful. It was the most relaxing mishap I'd ever experienced! Some guys walking on the strip immediately came to our aid when our car stalled in traffic. They jerry-rigged a repair to get us on our way. Then a police officer actually drove us to a gas station to get parts. When we had to stay for repairs we found an even better hotel than the one we had just left and, after check in, we took a Volunteer Taxi to get our luggage out of the car. Later that evening I realized I had lost track of my shoulder bag that contained my writing journal. Suddenly I knew I had left it in the taxi and called Volunteer Taxi to see if the driver had turned it in. It had not shown up but they took my information down and promised to get back to me if it did. We left Nashville feeling a glow of appreciation for the kindness of humanity, but for me there was just one drawback and that was the irreplaceable loss of my journal. I had no expectation of seeing it again and I had spent many hours writing in it. We went on to Florida as planned and enjoyed a much needed family vacation. The only drawback for me was sadness over losing my journal. After we were there for a few days I received a phone call from Cherry, the office manager at Volunteer Taxi. She told me that my shoulder bag with the journal had been turned in! I was so incredibly happy to hear that! We were going to stop in Nashville again on our way back home and she insisted on delivering my bag to me at our hotel. When I met this gracious woman in the hotel lobby I gave her a big hug and a generous tip. Cherry, thank you again from the bottom of my heart for your kindness! You were wonderful! And thank you to the Volunteer Taxi driver for turning in my bag! And thank you Nashville for being one of the truly friendliest places I've ever experienced! read more

Didn't start the meter and over charged me 3x the listed rate. I called to ask them to correct this the same night and they refused.

No seatbelts in middle row - a safety violation I am sure. Helpful driver, but the vehicle is terrible. The middle row seats are replacements and you sit practically on the floor. The back row seating appeared to have safety belts, but it was wet. Ugh. read more

The driver did not give us a price upfront and did not use the meter. He charged us more than double the normal rate from downtown to our nearby apartment, and it was not during peak time. We'll use Uber for now on. read more

This can was outside a restaurant I was coming out of. After I got into the car & he started driving, he says that going to my hotel would be $40. This is 3x the amount of a standard Lyft, that would have been 3 minutes away. He didn't run the meter during my ride & ran my CC through an app on his phone. I regret getting in this taxi. I assume he thought I was drunk & was just taking advantage of people being to passive to tell him to stop the car & get out after quoting a made up, exorbitant price. Very scammy. Dishonest drivers. They will not use the cab meters and will automatically charge you $48 to go 4 miles. Find ANY OTHER cab company except this one. The Lyft charged $12 to go the same 4 miles from downtown, but my elderly father did not want to wait, so he got in the first cab he saw. read more

I've never experienced such rude disrespect and poor customer service in my life. My husband and I had a five hour layover in Nashville. We decided to venture out. We got in cab #72 and explained to him where we wanted to go. We pulled off and entered a fare amount of $32.00. Immediately, I questioned the fare amount. The driver completely ignored my questions, I repeated myself several times before he finally acknowledged my question. In a very irritated manner, he told me not to question his price. My husband, therefore, told him to let us out. He refused to let us out and also attempted to let us out on a busy highway. I demanded the driver let us out in a safe place, and he decided to continue driving. I explained to the driver that this was considered to be kidnapping and called the police. Afterward, the police advised the driver to pull over, and the next exit he did but still refused to unlock his door. He eventually unlocked the doors after 15 mins of waiting for the police to arrive. Please please avoid this company. I plan on taking further action with the State Attorney General office and the Cab Commissary. read more

My sister had got a cab after she got off of work, the driver from this company left my sister on the side of the road at 2am because she noticed he was trying to run up the meter, she asked why he was taking her the wrong direction. His response was to swear and yell at her as he pulled off of the road and made her get out, leaving her by herself at 2am. She was able to snap this picture before he took off. read more

I took this taxi from Nashville airport to Nashville downtown. He took another lady that was also going downtown. Didn't even ask either of us if it's okay to share. Then he charged her 40$ continued to my destination for like 3 more minutes and charged me 45$! The Uber is 25$ for this trip, for comparison. Didn't want me to pay by card but wanted cash. I asked for a receipt and he gave me something like a business card to fill out by myself, so it was not a real receipt. Still dared to ask for a tip. Incredible! Rip-off! I hope they will go out of business soon! read more

Late last night, I needed a cab from 3rd and Lindsley and as my luck would have it, I got a cabbie from Volunteer. Courteous, professional, pleasant to talk to and he didn't drive like a maniac.. got me home in no time.. I feel privileged to have gotten this cabbie. I used these guys during a 3 day trip to Nashville with my wife in July, and they were great. Courteous, professional, knowledgable about the city, and most importantly, prompt. Getu was our driver for a touristy run out to the Hermitage from downtown, and when we called him to come get us a few hours later, he was there in less than 15 minutes. We were leaving the next day, and made arrangements with him to run us to the airport at 8 a.m., and the next morning, he texted me at 7:50 from the valet stand that he was ready if I needed help with our bags. Amazing service! Went above and beyond. I used this service Sunday 5/7/2017 because my Hotel the Best Western 1 mile away could not send the van after 4:pm. I left my bag and cell phone in the taxi (my over body purse was with me) but I was in despair...lost cell phone and my conference notes.
