We hired Von Walter + Funk to create three installations for our wedding at the Penn Society on Sept. 1st, and also purchased two balloon bouquets and a "love bug" balloon for our house party the night before. First off, Molly was incredible to work with - I was legit psycho in the weeks before the wedding - making a GAZILLION changes, not remember what I'd requested, etc, etc, etc. She was unfailing patient and kind in every communication to this stress ball bride. The balloons themselves? GORGEOUS. They added so much to our events! They were my favorite part of the whole weekend - aside from marrying my husband :) I'm now officially obsessed with Von Walter + Funk's balloons. I'd go to work for them tomorrow if they'd hire me, but in the meantime I plan on order installations from them for every single party I host, from dinner parties on up. For real. This place is he_ _a nice!!!!!! This Illy Philly was in Lawrenceville, on Butler Street, and I needed to find a small gift for a friend. Wellllll... I absolutely love the uniqueness and the over funky finesse of this place. They have the most unique gifts that will make the gifted happy! They are a little pricey for what they offer, but I give them a thumbs up for their efforts. I was greeted with a smile and told to look around, so I did. They also do Balloon arches which were extremely pricey, but, once again, I give them and A+ for effort and results! I bought the cutest little glass matchstick holder, and some really unique socks for my daughter (she loved them!). You can buy unique lighting, books, balloons, and gifts and they're surrounded by cafes, bakeries, boutiques and more so if you need a unique gift that will definitely be a conversation starter, make your way over there, but be prepared to pay a little more than you might expect. read more

Really digging on this shop. Each time I go in to just "browse" I end up walking out with a purchase. Not anything extravagant but a purchase nonetheless. They've got some really neat things ranging from cards and gifts to pillows, towels, decorative and other household items. So far I've purchased some accent pillows, drink ware, towels and other odds and ends. This place has a cool and funky vibe to it and while some of the items can be pricey they definitely have things that are affordable. It's definitely worth the visit. read more

The ladies working help me deliberate between the hanging option vs. standing option. One gets the box for it while I browse. She gets it ready knowing it's a present. Lawrenceville is full of quaint local shops, and Von Walter and Funk is one of the best! I don't make the trek to Upper Lawrenceville too often, but I may be making some special trips after discovering this gem of a store today. There are so many lovely gifts here, from candles to antiques to cards. They also carry some local Pittsburgh wares, such as bracelets and cuffs from Studebaker metals. And oh, the bar carts! I love a good bar cart, and Von Walter and Funk has everything you need to set up the trendiest of carts. Their accessories are beautiful and unique. I visited this shop for the first time today. I've been following them on Instagram for a bit. Let me just say that this store is even better in person. For real. There are so many things to look at that your eyes just keep dancing around. They have bar ware, lighting, cards, clocks, pillows, and the list goes on and on. If you need a really cool gift for someone (or yourself) this is the place that you need to go. You won't walk out empty handed. The coolest thing is that you can make personalized lighting. You pick the bulb, the color or cord (think rainbow of colors), and the light is put together for you. I thought of all of the different ways that you could use this lighting. Not to mention that you have to love shops that support Pet Shelters. Today the store had kittens to adopt along with two workers from Animal Friends to help you with the process. Go now! I am obsessed with this place! I'm obsessed with how well curated it is, the items sold are quirky, unique and fun and the owner is just the nicest person ever! They sell a variety of items that include vintage and new housewares and bath and body products. Most of the vintage items are barware, which I'm super into! I bought a fab 60's martini shaker. They also carry new dish towels, pillows and even wallpaper. There's a small selection of greeting cards and stationary. The entire backroom is bath and body. Last weekend I wandered into this classy home decor shop and really enjoyed perusing their carefully-selected collection of housewares, interiors, kitchenware, and bath items. The shop clerk, who was so knowledgeable about the stock that I'm guessing was one of the owners, was pleasant to chat with and had some good comments. Some of my favorite things were the high-quality barware (copper cocktail shaker!) and fun selection of high-end cookbooks. I am not really much of a fancy-lotions-and-bath-products person, but much of the back room had bath products with a farmhouse sink so you could try out different things--a nice touch.
