This is specifically about the pharmacy, not the grocery store. The customer service is atrocious -- they constantly make you wait even when you're the only customer. They find other things to do instead of waiting on trade. And when you complain, they are sullen and totally disinterested. This is the FOURTH time in a row that this has happened to me. Today, the pharmacist came to their support and told me I was inappropriate for complaining. I have finally decided to move all my prescriptions elsewhere -- they are not the only game in town. I have lived in Palm Springs for 21 years and I have never never been treated so shabbily. I seldom write YELP reviews. I'd so much rather write happy, glowing ones, but this one just was horrible and I will never go in the store again if I can help it. read more

Nov, 2025. (Late Tuesday afternoon, 4:30 pm). We were visiting Palm Springs, and needed to pick up some basic groceries. I was concerned about going to this Vons given the relatively poor reviews here, but it was the closest grocery store to our condo so we decided to give them a try. *We found the store to have a good selection of products; in fact, we found everything that we intended to buy ... and more. *We found the prices to be somewhat expensive, but we're not sure whether that's true only for this Vons or for California in general. But, that said, many items had reduced prices for members and for those using digital coupons. (We later found that we could get the Member prices simply by sharing a telephone number at checkout. We're still not sure about how to access the digital coupons yet). *The store was clean and well-organized. *Parking was sufficient and free. *There were perhaps five check-out registers serving customers, but each had a line of patrons waiting to check out. They did, however, move relatively quickly. (They don't have any self check-out lines). We were fortunate to get the efficient, friendly, and upbeat Lupe as our cashier. She got the job done and we were on our way. We would shop here again. read more

I shop at Vons in several locations, and this one is similar to others I have visited, and my rating has a lot to do with their friendly, helpful staff. The products are pretty much the same as elsewhere, prices consistent with their ads, parking fairly routine. One thing I greatly appreciate is the recycling bins at the store entrance, for me, mostly to return used plastics. The only reason I don't give the store a five is because they don't have a self-checkout lane, which might be a small nit, but when one has only an item or two to purchase, waiting behind a few others with overflowing carts can be annoying. read more

If I could give no stars I would. I came in to get salad stuff and I needed to leave and go to a different grocery store. The pictures shown are 4 different bags of cucumbers, molded onions and brown expired salad. There was molded fruit and more veggies but I was just disgusted I didn't take anymore pictures. The MALE employees are just noticeably unfriendly. I only come to this market when there's certain things that I need because it's the closest one around. They really need to train the male staff. If you can't smile occasionally and say good morning and be cordial you really shouldn't be working with customers at all. read more

I would give this Von's 3-4 stars except for the situation listed below. The store was clean, fairly well-stocked. Even had some items that we don't have in our local Safeway. The reason for the 1 star? Checkout cashier named Gage. We were behind a couple of guys - Gage was friendly and interacted with them, giving advice and wishing them good day. When we approached, we did not even get a "good morning". My conclusion is either that Gage is anti-Asian or anti-non-gay. Neither is acceptable and Von's management should discipline Gage. read more

The worst grocery store in Palm Springs--and it's not even close. Vons refuses to offer self-checkout, which is fine. But to make up for it, at least add more checkers. This store NEVER has more than 2 checkers even when each line is 20 people long. And there's NEVER any kind of express line. So if you're grabbing 1 item, expect to wait at least 15 minutes. This is by far the absolute WORST Von's in the Universe. Not because it's dirty (it isn't) or poorly stocked (it's not), but because no matter if you have 1 item or 100 items, your checkout time will take at least HALF AN HOUR. If ever a store needed self-check kiosks -- 2-3 would work! -- it's this one. A typical visit to this store will involve you entering to buy one perishable item, and arriving at checkout to find only one lane open with 20 people in queue. After five minutes they'll open a second cashier, but there are still 10 people with carts piled to the ceiling in front of you. By some miracle, you might notice the "quick check" lane to the far right, but as soon as you step in that line, a sign goes up: "lane closed." Now you have to start over at the end of Ye Olde 10-Person Lane while cashiers haggle with customers over the price of pool noodles and their declined credit cards. I HATE THIS STORE. It would be faster and less aggravating to drive to the Von's in Desert Hot Springs for the same item, and self-check myself out at one of the 6 self-check kiosks. Are you paying attention, Von's corporate? It's 2025. Run your stores like they exist in this century. read more

Getting there: Located on the southside of the 111 hwy in Cat City. Parking seemed to be abundant, but the parking lot can fill up quickly.' Experience: I came here to fill up my gas tank thinking it would be cheaper than the 76 on the opposite side of town. They were pretty much the same price. It was before the evening rush so I was able to get in and out with out any crowds or waiting. The way the lot is setup to enter and exist is similar to Costco, one way in and one way out so I could see this spot getting packed during peak times. read more

I am shocked and saddened that you can't park your bike outside of the store without the bike getting vandalized. It seems Vons would remove the vandalized bikes from the bike rack directly in front of the entrance. It makes shoppers nervous about even leaving their cars in the parking lot while shopping. AVOID getting gas here beware if you use a credit card or debt card they hold your money hostage I got a Pre Authorization Charge of $200 on my card for a $15 purchase . it was my wife's birthday and her birthday dinner got declined because of Vons Pre Authorization charge .there telling me it will fall off in 24 to 48 hours . Ok so what is up with this Vons. I'm sure corporate has not visited in quite some time and if they did are they Ok with the Dirtiest Deli in all of the Desert? It always is filled with dirty dishes and the product they present looks like it's the bottom of the barrel. I have lived in the desert for a very long time and to watch this store lose any desire to improve confuses me. The demographics in this area alone makes no sense of the quality of both products and a store standard of clean. I won't even go into the restrooms but trust it's a whole kinda new disgusting. We live in Town that is so pretty and the idea that this is Vons and this the way the serve Us leads me to shop at so many other stores where the idea of getting hepatitis from the deli doesn't seem like something I want to do. When we moved to Cathedral City we were shopping at the Ralphs even though Vons was closer because that's where I had to get my prescriptions. Recently however, I have been dissatisfied with the grocery delivery from Ralphs and decided to try Vons. What a revelation! Easy to order, the delivery was on time, and it came with a print out of the items that were substituted or unavailable. Then this week my vet prescribed a medication for my dog that she didn't have in hand. I was floored when she told me I could fill it at a regular pharmacy. Vons is the closest one to me so I called them. They answered the phone, and were so helpful. Unfortunately they said they had to order the medicine and it would be ready in a couple days. That same afternoon, they called me and said they had found some in the store room and I could come get it. Honestly such great service for a relatively inexpensive medicine for my dog. Since I had a such a great experience I decided to ask them to check if I could pick up my prescriptions there, and I CAN. Much more convenient. Lastly, I like gong into this store because all patrons and employees wear masks and the carts are cleaned and give to you as you enter the store. I have always appreciated everyone who works at Vons with the exception of the people working in the pharmacy. They have to be the unhappiest and unfriendliest group of people with whom I have ever dealt. The pharmacy recently texted me saying that I was eligible for the most recent Covid 19 booster. I went online , as instructed, and made my appointment. I received an email reminder from the pharmacy on the day of my scheduled appointment. When I arrived, I was asked my name and date of birth. The woman behind the counter just kept staring at the computer saying that there was no such appointment. She kept asking me my name and saying over and over again that there was no scheduled appointment. I asked her how then was it possible that the pharmacy sent me a reminder via email about my appointment. She just looked at me and then asked if I had gotten any other vaccinations at that particular pharmacy. I have been going to Vons for 22 years and have received most of my vaccinations from them as well as my monthly medications. She eventually got around to giving me the application to fill out and sign. She then turned things over to the manager. After working on the computer for a few minutes, he told me to go to the little room and wait. I wound up getting the booster from the manager who, by the way, had zero personality. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and figured he was either having a bad day or just really hated his job. By the looks on the faces of the people who work in that department, somebody needs to get them help...and fast!! read more

I am done with this pharmacy in particular, and Von's pharmacies in general. (1) The app is pathetic. To schedule some vaccinations you have to put in your D.O.B. - which defaults to the current date, and has to be changed a month at a time. If you're even as young as 30, that would require 360+ taps on the screen. Who thinks up this garbage? (2) Upon showing up for a vaccination appointment, after filling out all the forms online, I was confronted with a packed waiting room and people standing around scribbling on forms because THEIR SYSTEM DIDN'T SEND VACCINATION RESERVATIONS to the pharmacy. (3) I needed a critical refill and ordered it online. The app said it would be ready for pickup by noon. Of course they close for an indefinite period around lunchtime, so I went close to closing. Their first response was that it wasn't ready. Upon further inquiry they admitted they were out of the medication in that particular size (40mg) and couldn't substitute 2 x 20mg tablets even to get me through the day until they could try to get in more. My health matters to me too much to deal with these clowns any more. Bye-Bye Vons! read more

VONS. The store that deals with the "outlier". When I walk into one of their stores, it doesn't matter which location, I look around and mutter.... "Huuuuuuuum...." not "Hmmmmmmm"... "Huuuuuum". it's Hmmm with an accent. Nothing makes sense in this store. Initially you look around and you instinctively know, that whatever you are looking for, whether it's just plain jane hot dog buns or filet mignon, this store WILL have it. What you are completely unaware of is HOW they PRICE their items. This has been weighing heavily on my mind and since we now have Instacart and can price shop every single item that will be purchased, Instacart levels the playing field. Which is fantastic. That's called capitalism. Lately, I've had a constant yearning for greek salads. Really GOOD greek salads. I know how to make them. So... why am I ordering greek salad's to be delivered when they are not difficult to make?? Shopping list as follows.... 1). Look for Feta Cheese. Well they have feta cheese. Decent Quality. kind of Decent all the way up to best (maybe). But what they have failed to do and the manufacturer has failed to do is educate the consumer as to WHY should I pay $8.09 for only 8 oz. of feta from ATHENOS. Athenos brand doesn't really have any great market positioning. They appear everywhere in every grocery store! When it comes to Athenos brand they are middle of the road... nothing more. 2). Look for Bell Peppers. I like my salads to be colourful.. so green, red & yellow are are great choices. VONS charges 1.79/EACH for 1 (one) yellow bell pepper and $2.29/EACH for an "organic" yellow bell pepper. Neither of these choices are acceptable! There are so many other grocery stores that provide bell peppers at a much lower price for similar quality. 3). Filet Mignon. Of course I like it. Who doesn't. VONS prices are $22.99/pound for filet mignon steak. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND PAYS THIS?! So, I end up wandering around the store, enjoying SOME of their interesting offerings like. Deep Eddy Vodka from Austin Texas, which is a "one-off", created by those "crazy cats" from the SXSW festival culture and honestly... this vodka is a really fantastic find! So far I see that it is not offered anywhere else at any other competitor. VONS... who takes chances on companies and people. That's nice. VONS the grocery store that attracts the "outliers". However, as much as I would like to shop at their store... their pricing is so erratic its like living through an ECG/EKG heartbeat monitor.. . If I'm going to shop VONS and get Pavilions and Whole Food prices... I might as well shop at Pavillions and Whole Foods. read more

If I give this store a zero, I would. I went in about 9ish on a Friday night. I placed my groceries on the belt and checked ours with a very old grey-haired man with a wired mustache thing going on. After spending $70.00, the checker asked if I needed bags, in which I replied, yes. The bagger proceeds to place my items in the two bags. There were two larger items that I asked to bag also. The grey-haired checker said that he only charged me for two bags. I said how much for another bag, he replied 10 cents. I said I didn't have change, and if he could break a $20.00. With a pissy voice, he said, forget it, and gave me a dirty look. I went to my car to retrieve a dime. My partner said, don't go back in. So reluctantly, I drove off. Thinking about what transpired, I called the manager, Stephanie. After waiting for quite some time for her to come to the phone, I told her what happened. I know it's petty, 10 cents, but it's the principle or customer service or lack thereof. In explaining it to her, there was silence on her end. Finally, after the silence lifted, she said she would talk to him rudely and hung up on me. At that point, I realized why he had his attitude. It came from above. The entire staff was probably that rude with other customers. Looking at these Yelp reviews, I'm not far off. I'm not from this area. I'm from the San Fernando Valley. I spend about $200.00 per week for my family of five. I know my local Vons has troubles to; however, this may have been the straw that broke the camels back. I made a random stop needing to pick up dog biscuits for my pup. Since I was visiting and not familiar with the area grocery stores, this one seemed as good as any. Parking was a breeze because it was late at night and not many people apparently grocery shop at 9pm, at least in Palm Springs. Once inside I was able to find the aisle with pet supplies easily and thankfully they had the brand and exact product I was looking for.I was a little shocked by the price, considerably more than I pay locally but I wasn't about to make another stop and try to save a buck. When I walked in there were 3 cashiers, all sitting around chatting with one another. Of course when I was ready to check out 2 of them disappeared, uggh! I waited my turn and the gal asked me if I had a Von's card and I replied NO. She proceeded to ring up my item and apparently scanned her own card which gave me a $1 discount which I was thankful for. This location also had a Redbox video kiosk and a Wells Fargo inside the store which could be helpful in consolidating stops. read more

This Vons has pretty good produce and meat prices. The meat seemed to be of better quality than that which I get back home. I also found a good deal on a 1 lb bag of jumbo shrimp. Some of the fruits and vegetables are locally grown, and extremely fresh and tasty. I bought some ears of locally grown white corn on the cob. Very very sweet. Not a huge store but plenty of variety. I went at dusk and was a little wary coming out at night as the parking lot was not well lit. The landscaping was depressing as it is all dying. I normally don't submit reviews but the customer service was so very poor today that I am compelled to tell store management. Today around 12:30 pm, I arrived at Vons thinking that I would switch from my old grocery store chain to this one since I had heard very good service comments about it over one year ago. Well, switching stores is certainly not going to happen now because the service today was horrible! Over 20 people in one line with only two cashiers is not my idea of good service since I had only 4 items in my shopping cart! It's no wonder people shoplift, it's the only way to get your shopping done in a reasonable amount of time at this store. No, I did not shoplift but I left the 4 items in my cart and walked out of the store! I will never return to that store. I will even shop at Target before going back. In fact, I did shop at Target just down the street. Picked up the 4 items I needed, even at a lower price, self-checked out my items, and walked out of the store with a big smile.
