Just my opinion, But a bakery should be a private establishment - not inside VONS supermarket or a division of VONS. Because I am from the East Coast (which has been and ALWAYS will be better than the west) I have had my fair share of bakery delights. My standards are somewhat higher than that of the average joe. VONS bakery cakes are wonderful confections with splendid buttercream icing. The french bread is nice too. I also enjoy the donuts....as close as you can get to the experience of Dunkin Donuts. I can't understand why this little store gets such bad reviews! Yes, the store is small. Yes, the selection is limited. Yes, the specials are quickly snapped up by local bargain shoppers. Maybe you have to know the people here, become a regular! Get a coffee...shorter lines than a Starbucks store...same product! Fill A prescription! Order a corsage...really reasonable priced! Oh and then there are the groceries. Tip: go early in the morning or later in the evening and never during the lunch hour. read more

This place is Hell. There are never enough checkers and I am frequently tempted to abandon my cart.

I used Vons grocery delivery because my car is in the shop. I picked the next day delivery between 7-9 am. At 9:30 o still didn't have my groceries. After sitting on hold for 20 minutes I finally got a live person to talk to, they tried contacting the driver no answer. Tried contacting the store no answer so they refunded my delivery charge and said they would have the driver call me. Finally at 10:30 some one from the store called to say the driver had a family emergency and that they are working to divide up the deliveries from the truck and will try to have my groceries to me by 1:30 pm! I understand things happen but why did it take me calling to find out an hour and a half AFTER the latest delivery time what is going on or that there is an issue with my delivery? I will not be using Vons grocery delivery again! If you don't have some one to cover the deliveries in case of a driver calling off then how can I rely on you to deliver. read more

We placed an order on Tuesday for a large cake to celebrate my father's 60th birthday. When we arrive on Saturday to pick it up, no record of our order is found and the blaming game commences. They start to question whether we called the right store or even placed an order to begin with. We wait patiently for an additional 30 minutes or so for them to look for it and then they start to question the validity of our order again. Nobody takes responsibility for misplacing our order and we're left with no cake for a large birthday party with a few hours to go. We were very disappointed in the service and lack of execution for taking a simple order with 4 days to prepare. Unacceptable customer service and very upsetting. read more

I generally am pleased with Vons, however today I was not happy. I called 35 minutes ahead to place an order for food and when I arrived I was told by Sara that they forgot to make my order because the district manager was in the store. I had to wait an additional 15 minutes. Talk about awful, I mean you would think they would do their best when the district manager is present. Guess not. read more

I shopped at the Redlands, CA store for years without incident. Last August 2016 I fell while leaving the check stand on some water that was left on the floor at the end of the next checkout. Since the Redlands Vons had always been a nice, clean store, I felt confident that the store would do the right thing and take care of my out of pocket expenses. I was off work for a month, and during that time, I was told I had to talk to a company called Sedgwick Claims Management Services to get reimbursed for my lost wages, and medical costs. I was very clear that I was only interested in getting my costs reimbursed. I shouldn't have to suffer because Vons didn't keep their floors clean. Here we are ten (10) months later, and I have seen nothing. I sent them the copies of my paycheck stubs, doctors' visits, prescriptions, copay bills, and off work note within the first month after I went back to work. I have had to jump through hoop after hoop, even providing them my last year tax returns, additional medical records and such. I am very sad that I will no longer be able to shop at Vons, and I will certainly not recommend them to anyone again. I guarantee that the store has lost more money from me no longer giving them my business, than it would have cost to reimburse me my expenses. But Vons has chosen to allow my family and myself to suffer so they can save a few dollars. Very Sad! I guess that Vons doesn't care about their customers like I thought they did. read more

This store SUCKS. On Sunday May 27th I went there to pick up some Ice, after my poor shopping experience at the next door Trader Joes. So I walk up to a employee greet him and ask him where they have the Ice located, he says " They should be upfront, if not there they are at the back of the store" ! I was about to ask him if he knows it for sure or not cuz I wasn't about to walk cross the store twice for a bag of Ice!, but I bit my tongue and looked myself, so I found the Ice freezer. Then at the check out the Clerk LAURA (young women) was having a good ol time with this white boy in front of me, I don't look like a white white person, when it came to me she wouldn't even greet me. When it came to pay, I wanted some cash back and asked her what the max is for cash back, she didn't even look at me and said $200. I said ok, then I'd like to have the $200 cash back, all of a sudden she said "I don't think I have that kind o money!" Then freaking call it in, like any other Vons store, do something about it for cryn out loud! She then asked her co-check out to her other side and that Latino girl was so friendly and greeted me and handed her the cash, as I finally got my money! It seems like the store has a lot of prejudice people working, which make a difference depending on your skin color. This was the last time I shop there, I don't support that kind of racism in a supermarket or anywhere else. read more

I went and picked up a cake that i had ordered and the girl working at the bakery was rude and handed me the box unsealed so when i got to the checkout i tried to close the box. it was bent so i had some trouble and the frosting got messed up and instead of the checker helping me, she rolled her eyes and threw a paper towel at me to clean it up. This is my first time going to this Von's. I originally came here to do some banking business but once I walked in I was immediately impressed. The store is so clean and well organized. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous, I mean literally every employee I bumped into smiled at me, said "hello how are you today" and "is there anything I can help you find today?" I bumped into the supervisor more than once in the store and every time he would ask me if there was anything else I needed help finding. I went to the florist section it looked like a little shop. Of course they had flowers and such and I was advised by the florist that she can custom make arrangements as well. The florist there was so nice and sinfully helpful. I say that because she kept pointing me in the direction of the boxed chocolates. She even asked me if I would like to try a sample, oh and did I forget to mention they were on sale? Moving on to the fruits and veggie aisle, they seemed to offer more variety than most grocery stores I've been in(even things I've never heard of before). Needless to say the rest of the store followed suit. the bakery and deli section was very nice as well. They had custom made bagels and assorted goodies. They even offer a serve yourself soup station, ready to eat roasted chicken and meatloaf and of course sushi yum. High end experience without the snootyness. They had quite a few things on sale but I noticed the only downside is their prices were a bit more expensive than elsewhere by about a dollar or two. Overall though a great experience. Rude! Not friendly at All... not even a slight smile! Awful customer service... Cashier actually said to me" get that shopping cart behind you!" (wasn't mine, I just had a basket) - so I did and she put my one bag of groceries and threw the 4 boxes of frozen pizzas into the cart!!! then she walked away. Never gave me the monopoly cards... Then I remembered her from the last experience when I was there (I spent $150) and I asked her if the game was still on because she did not give me the Monopoly cards and she said yes and opened the drawer then said - give me your receipt and gave me some - like it was a huge hassle. TERRIBLE to have a worker that hates her job and takes it out on the customers! Will not come back to this Vons! read more

Pretty bad customer service overall. Most of the staff act are indifferent to your needs & prefer to chat with each other upon which any interruption (even a hello) is met with silent scorn. They are robotic at best regarding "human" interaction for the most part. Their sushi chef is actually nice though. I'd expect better from any customer service related industry but especially a unionized one. I only go to this Von's if I have NO OTHER CHOICE. read more

I've been shopping in this vons since 2003 and never had a problem until tonight i went to the checkouts and as im about to check out the cashier tells me someone put a store limitation on the purchase. I was ok with being told aboutbthe limit but the cashier then talks to the cashier behind her saying how some people have the nerve of buying and not leaving enough for others. The shelves had plenty instock..... I took what she called excessive amount back and when i came back she was still babbling along on how she cant believe why people buy excessive amount ...... This to me makes no sense its a grocery store that stays in business by have people buying products and some times in bulk and having such a rude lady there will help them with this problem by making it uncomfortable (thanks DANICE) to shop there. read more

I called to order a birthday cake for Sunday Oct. 19th the girl put me on hold to check if they could do cake orders for Sunday because the decorator wasn't in on Sundays she informed me they could make it Saturday for Sunday pick up and took the order reading it back to me I went in on Sunday to pick up the cake and it was not made after waiting for 10 minutes the girl came back and said it wasn't made then went back to double check and came back with a paper showing a date of 10-20-14 instead of 10-19 and said that was why it wasn't made they didn't even have a birthday cake that I could take for the Birthday so we had a Birthday with no cake because of their mistake. I called Monday morning to talk to the bakery manager as I was extremely upset with how this was handled and she puts me on hold to find out what happened then comes back and said she pulled the order off of the cake decorators table and proceeds to tell me the problem is because the order was dated tomorrow the 22nd so I ask her you have the order in your hand for tomorrow the 22nd and she says yes. First tomorrow isn't the 22nd it is the 21st Second the paper the girl the day before showed me one saying Monday the 20th which would be today Third the girl taking the order put me on hold to confirm it could be done on Sunday so they all just lied to me to cover their asses and don't care that my son had no Birthday cake as I was picking it up on my way to our reservations for his party and they didn't even have a plain one I could use already made. It is bad enough what they did but then to be lied to repeatedly Horrible Horrible service so if you have a special occasion that you really need a cake for order it somewhere else so your event is not ruined and they don't even care. Maybe next time it will be one of their kids birthday and see how they like it. read more
