I like Vons which is a full service grocery store meaning they have their own store brand items as well as name brand items. It's centrally located in the Mira Mesa Center with a lot of different stores in the same strip mall. I went there late one night about 930pm and there were 2 cashiers working and approximately 6 people in each line. Another cashier comes to open another register and instead of taking the next person in line closest to the register she tells the last person in line that she'll help them. Ummmm we have all been waiting in line and the right thing to do is take the person closest to checking out next. They do have good sales and I would definitely continue shopping here. This review is for the Vons Deli only.. I come here at least a couple times a week for their pasta salads, sandwich, and pre-made hot foods because it's really close to where my house is. I LOVE THEIR PASTA SALADS! It's really cheap (around 2 bucks for 0.66 pounds) and tasty. I always get the pesto pasta salad and have tried the deviled egg potato salad and the antipasta salad. Their hot foods is ok... I probably would not recommend it. The sausages have always made me sick for some reason and their chicken/potato wedges are kind of dry. Their sandwiches are pretty tasty, but are a little bit on the expensive side. There is a deal where if you come between the hours of 11am and 1pm, order a sandwich, and if they don't finish making your sandwich within 3 minutes, your order is free! I've never come around this time so this has never happened for me. Overall, the Vons deli definitely does not have a good variety, but its convenience and speed keeps me coming back. read more

As I live about a 2-3 minute drive from this Vons location, I'm usually here at least once or twice a week. The store is clean on the inside, though the outside facade can use some work. For the most part, the staff are friendly and professional. While I like the deals (especially on $5 Fridays), what really bugs is shopping here at night. There just isn't enough cashiers, and I wonder if the management knows what they're doing by having so few cashiers working nights when the lines are yea long (and by long, I mean extending down half an aisle). Hours posted are not accurate. I needed to pick up some milk and got there 7 minutes before closing. The employee manning the door wouldn't let me in. I asked if closing was still at 11pm which he confirmed and then I informed him that it was 10:53pm. He said yes but they need to clear out the store. What??? It wasn't a capacity issue because only a handful of cars were there and as I was walking up, two people had exited. I'm all for COVID safety precautions but that doesn't make it okay to waste people's time. I drove 20 minutes round trip relying on the hours they stated that they were open and ended up having my time wasted. If you stop letting customers in at 10:45pm or 10:50pm then those should be the closing times that are posted. read more

Many issues with their delivery service. I have never received the exact product I ordered it is always a substitution even though if I go to the store the products I want are in stock. Leaving notes for substitutions on the mobile app is useless as they don't read them. Specifically asked them not to get a certain kind of product on multiple occasions and that's the exact one they bring. Just a poorly run system. If it's not in stock don't allow me to add it to my cart. If it is then that's what I should be getting, what I ordered, not something that slightly resembles what I ordered. read more

Loooooong Lines! All the time, any time. This place is a block away from my house. It's very convenient. The checkers are friendly and kooky. I think "kooky" is a job requirement here- have you noticed the baggers? The worst checkers are the male managers. They're just simply rude. But all the others are friendly. The items are about 20-50% marked up as compared to other grocery stores. You'll be shocked how much more you're paying if you visit 99Cent store or Grocery Outlet across the street. But Vons definitely have a bigger selection. But be prepared to "waste" 30 minutes of your life on the checker lines. This place is always understaffed and crowded. It doesn't matter if you come in the morning or 12midnight. It's because it's the only grocery store convenient to most residential homes. But not for long because Sprouts will be opening soon on the other side of the plaza. Then goodbye Vons lines and pricey food. Can't wait. read more

Poor service and long lines. As mentioned by many others there are frequently long lines and too few checkers. I don't blame the general checkers as it's poor staffing and management. However, I have been having recurring issues with the Deli department. Today I waited over 5 minutes for Kenny to finish up what she was doing in back to assist me and then when I asked to pay here she mumbled something about not being logged into cash register. I then pressed and said I already waited in line for you to help and look at the long lines (12+ long each aisle) over there, to which she responded that I could wait for the other person who was then assisting people on cold Deli side. I had already waited to be helped, why wouldn't she assist me with paying after I patiently waited to be initially helped? And why is it that only some of the Deli people will assist with paying and others not. And before you think that it's because they are new, no they are not. I live 10 mins away and these are people that have been working there one year or longer. And for the record, there were no other people waiting in line on hot Deli side. She was just lazy or poorly trained and didn't want to take time to log into register to assist. Von's has wider selection and used to have better service than low cost competitors like Grocery Outlet or 99Cent Store but now those offer better price and faster more efficient service. This is our go to market to get the basics, besides Target. They also have a Starbucks inhere. However, twice no we they haven't had anyone there to make drinks Boo! I went in for the Friday fried chicken special at 7:00 10/13. There was a seven-person line with a sign posted on th deli counter saying next back will be out in 45 minutes to one hour, with no indication of when it was put up. When the sales person/cook did show up behind the counter, she did not keep us informed as to her progress despite walking all around behind the counter and chatting with one of the customers. Finally, she announce that this batch was the last batch. I ended up being next to last getting the eight pieces. I was informed that I would only get two thighs and six legs (instead of four and four). The guy behand me was to get only eight legs. When I asked if there were extra pieces so that they could thow in an extra leg to make up the difference, she couldn't understand. I came here to drop off a fed-ex package. They close the service at 8pm, I arrive at 7:30pm. The person at customer service said she decided to close the service earlier since she was on lunch and no one else was trained to do it. She couldn't scan the package which would've taken seconds. Some Vons / Safeways have bulk grains and legumes and/or organic bulk grains and legumes, but unfortunately this one doesn't have either, FYI. Their rice is only available in packages. Their lentils are the same, and unfortunately aren't the good kind of lentils, flavor-wise. They do have some organic stuff- fruits, veggies, and meat. However, it's actually quite a small selection. And when I bought organic raspberries here a couple times, it started to mold within two days (I kept it refrigerated). So I suspect that even though they were organic, they may not have been quite so fresh. The organic meat selection is extremely small and expensive. They have one type of organic meat and one that is antibiotic free but not certified organic. The meats are tasty but it's just a very small selection. Service is decent. The people you interact with are always very nice, but it's hard to find people who you can ask questions. It feels a bit understaffed, and often the lines can be a bit slower than other Vons locations I've been to. read more

No other supermarkets besides this one in a town of 70,000. So I'm stuck going here if I need a particular item. I usually drive to another town to shop elsewhere like stater bros or poway walmart. Lines are ridiculous, hire some people and open more registers. And pay them a decent wage so you get better quality workers. The few they have look demoralized and are slow. The lines go into the aisles and block traffic. Also, Vons brand item sales are stupid when they say, "must buy 4" Who wants 4 bottles of Catsup? Pros: store is clean and stocked. Cons: Prepare to wait in line, Not enough produce bag dispensers, putting the special needs baggers in cages and having them beg for charity money. Not like vegetable oil, but machine lubricant. Goes to bring it back. Customer service won't refund without receipt, because they cannot be sure when it was purchased. The label clearly says packed today. CS said cannot return more than $10 without receipt. Price on cheese was 9.98, ham 9.99. Wife says, "Return cheese". CS: Cannot. It doesn't work that way. Wife: You just said, if it is under $10 you can return without a receipt. This is 9.98. CS: Let me talk to manager. (goes into office) CS: Cannot refund. Wife: Let me talk to manager. This is your typical Grocery Store And it carries your everyday needs and the produce here is not bad and it is well kept but sometimes they run out of stuff . Also the Meat Department is ok and when I came here the worker behind the counter ask if I needed help and Of Course I say yes . So I got a couple of Steaks and he was nice to package up my Steaks and put a Price tag on there . Good Service is hard to come by but I would say this Meat Department Pass The Test with blind Colors !! Two Thumbs Up For The Meat Department !! Now the Bakery is hard to find help because it seems like every time I come to this Bakery there is no one here to help you !! I came in to order a deli sandwich and the person working proceeded to take my order and then disappear for a long period of time. This review is for Adrianna in the floral department. I was there last Friday trying to find a pretty floral arrangement. Adrianna asked if I needed any assistance. I kindly declined. She then asked me if I know about the Five dollar Friday rose bouquet special. I said "No, what's that?" She then proceeded to tell me by the check out lines there are some roses by the dozen that are only $5.00. That immediately got my full attention. She was nice enough to show me where to exactly find them and recommended which ones to pick and why. After carefully choosing, I asked if she can cut the stems for me. She not only did that but also allowed me to check out which I am extremely grateful for. Those lines were no joke! I purchased a salame and provolone snack. Basically a gourmet lunchable. My daughter picked it out and I hadn't warned her to check dates.
