Meh, It's not the best but it's not the worst. Let me explain.. Atmosphere - I will give 5 stars for that. I love all the decorations on the wall, and its very relaxing inside. There's booth and table options as well as a bar. They have all different kinds of beer on top and wines available too. Service - We only had what we thought was 45 minutes before my flight and had plenty of time to order several drinks, 2 burgers and appetizers. The server was very nice and friendly, so I will give 5 stars there too. Parking- Enough parking in the back when it's not too busy, but I could see it being an issue if it's very very crowded. Looking back I should've gotten the tator tots. I like my fried zucchini breaded, not battered. But if you like battered fried zucchini, then that's the choice for you. Probably one of the coolest places in ATL. My friend took me here and it did not disappoint. We had to wait a little in line but it moved quickly. Once we got seated the service was quick! I got the BBQ Mac and cheese burger and it was probably the best burger I've ever had. It was cooked to perfection and it literally melted in your mouth. My wife and I went here for lunch today. Pretty cool place, front door is a skull with a small parking lot on the side. Restaurant is seat yourself and they ask for you to have your ID's on the table before servers come by. Decor is interesting and pretty unique too! Nice selection of local beers, and huge menu. We got the fried cheese curds for an appetizer and they were actually a lot lighter than you'd expect. Not like a mozzarella stick, pretty unique dish. We got a retro burger and a single coronary bypass. Both were tasty and the retro burger might be the best classic burger I've had in Atlanta. The coronary bypass, like many things at the restaurant, was unique and a tasty one off experience. Fries were good too, tater tots were ok but I think I'd recommend someone get fries instead. First of all, this place is 21+ and don't be disappointed that you can't bring your children here because it is kind of crude. Which is okay by us, but if you are looking for somewhere to take your bible study group, go somewhere else. The atmosphere had a funky, retro vibe. They do allow smoking at the bar. It's crazy how I've been living in atlanta for the 8 years and have never tried The Vortex until recent. I know I know. I've been missing out. And a funny virus called COVID-19 can be thanked for my first visit. I needed a break from cooking all week so I decided to order from here after leaving the market. It was only takeout so they had a limited menu. I ordered 8oz sirloin burger with bacon, lettuce and tomato. Final cost? $8.50 and some change. And the burger was so good. Oh weeee! I first tried Vortex when I moved to Atlanta in 2010. I had seen it on a food network show and wanted to try the coronary bypass burger (not sure why) lol. From what I remember, the burger was just okay. I've gone a couple of times since then for lunch and got a variety of items. Today, however, I took my son (now that he's 21) and he ordered the coronary bypass. I tried it and I don't know if they've changed the recipe, but it was DELICIOUS! The grilled bacon cheese sandwiches are what this burger. The rich and melty cheese and buttered toast are absolutely perfect. Add on the salty bacon and the creamy egg, and it's hard to get much better. The bacon cheese fries and tater tots are the perfect compliment to the burger. I ordered the Mac and cheese burger and it was pretty good too. It came with a tiny amount of Mac and cheese initially so I had to request another helping. If you're going to call it a Mac and cheese burger, it needs to be a nice heaping! Once they brought that (plus a little pepper), it was really good. Vortex isn't a place I'd go on a regular, but it's a nice place to take visitors from out of town, or if you're craving a huge, delicious ($20) burger! read more

The Vortex was my go to place to hangout and grab a beer and burger to chill and listen to some great tunes weather it be rock or Motown. Now they are not customer friendly the last time I was there they were playing some kind of Satanic music and when I ask to see if they would at least play alternate music the manager rudely said no and that he liked the music and walk away! First time back here in 10 years and it was just as good as I remember it! It was a little crowded on a Saturday night. My party of three got there around 530ish and there was a 45 minute wait. Not so bad. Our waitress, Chris was awesome and attentive. She heard my friends talking about wanting a cigarette and they didn't have one. She gave them both one. We had ordered fried pickle spears to start. By accident they brought out two. Chris let us keep them both and only charged us for one. They were delicious and had a nice little kick. To drink my friend and I both got a skull flight of three different beers. It included a craft lager, white ale, and amber ale. Very good and only $6! For my meal I had the guacamole chicken sandwich. It was a nice sized sandwich and had a nice flavor. Fries were crisp. I asked for a side of ranch. It was an extra $0.95, but I didn't mind. My friend ordered the guacamole veggie burger with fried plantains. The plantains were delicious! My other friend ordered bad ass buffalo wings with atomic death sauce. If been to the Vortex in midtown many times and I absolutely loved it. But today I tried the location in little Five points and worst experience ever. I ordered a Long Island ice tea and a classic burger medium. My food came medium rare and my drink was just awful. I asked the waiter if I could get another drink instead and told yes but I would have to pay for a drink I didn't even touch. I feel like the restaurant should tell people about the once your food touches the table there will be no substitutes and you will be charged extra for the nasty shit they bring out. I did speak to the manager who was condensing and very rude. Never again. I'll just stick to midtown where they actually know how to make a simple Long Island and burger. read more

It seemed a bit small inside, but had no problem getting a seat at the bar. I had their lager- $5 for 20oz is an absolute steal! For food I ate the Holy Guacamole burger and it was one of the best burgers I've eaten in awhile. Staff was friendly and quick with their service. Vortex is forever on my list for a good, classic cheeseburger. I will choose to visit during the day, but I tend to reserve this spot for when the drunchies get the best of me.
