We came in on a Friday. They're first come, first served, so watch your timing if you're coming with a group. The bartenders were very nice and took great care of us. In the next installation of my Michelin reviews, this cute neighborhood bar was a lovely meal. I sat outside on the patio and was shielded from the rain that briefly came down. I also love the neighborhood, having been a fan of PERC forever. I like that the menu wasn't too extensive so it wasn't hard for me to pick what to order. I got the sweet potatoes, asparagus, and a specialty green goddess chicken with farro entree. I finished with the rice krispy treat (not pictured) and tried a vodka soda based cocktail. Everything tasted great and the servers were friendly/helpful despite managing a busy restaurant. The rice krispy treat definitely tasted home-made and not store bought. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the starters almost tasted too strong in some respects. I would still come back to try other small plates. read more

So glad I finally got to try out this spot. It's super chill and a great casual dinner spot. We sat on the patio! Definitely recommend for a nice day. They have a daily menu that changes up every so often. They have a fabulous cocktail menu. I got a fig tequila cocktail that was perfect for fall. For food, we got the lamb skewers, buffalo wings and the grilled cheese with tomato soup. You definitely need to get the grilled cheese - trust me! And with the soup - so cozy. Came in super early on a Friday night around 5 before anyone else. By the time we left around 8, it was a packed house! I'm glad we came early, it helped with finding parking too (street parking and there's a lot behind it) We ordered a bunch of small plates for our group of three - chicken, mushroom and shrimp skewers. All yummy with good flavor, just a bit disappointed at the portion size. The peanut noodles were refreshing and spicy. Ricotta dip with bread was a crowd favorite, the bread being grilled added smokiness which I enjoyed. Brussels were fine (par for the course, not phenomenal but not bad by any means). The grilled cheese was delish, the bread it's on was super crusty. We also ordered the fizzy gin carafe to share among the three of us- we each got about two glasses and it only cost us 12$ per person, pretty worth. Service was great- we were there for almost 3 hours and they came and checked on us in reasonable intervals. Will definitely be back! read more

Bartenders are friendly, food is seasonal and super yummy, and the vibe is super chill. Great spot to hit before a night out or a cool spot to come to when your night is winding down. Just a heads up that they often times run out of their best dishes. For example, the chicken pate - never got to try it because so many people ordered it before I did. Next time! Poor Hendrix is a really nice spot for a late night bite to eat. You can get anything from classic Buffalo wings, or something totally different like trout skins and spicy peanut cold noodles. Can't go wrong with either! Definitely will be coming back for more in the near future. Also, the service here is always friendly and attentive. Not to mention, the whole place has a cozy vibe to it in general. Feels like a nice place to just unwind after a long day, and have a bite of amazing food. You don't even need to drink, either. An Open Letter To The Owners: This email could not wait. I stopped into your establishment tonight and I can't say enough how much my cousin and I enjoyed ourselves. From the atmosphere, to the food, to the service. Bravo. We walked away talking about the food and even making a point to note that we must come back tomorrow for dessert and a drink to celebrate my cousins birthday. That grilled cheese is not just any old grilled cheese but an elevated experience, maybe a little dramatic but maybe even tear inducing. I walked away noting that this was comfort food done well and I felt comfortable and welcome. Brandon was a gem and he was extremely attentive. Went here for a happy hour with a friend on a Friday night, it was a bit hard finding seating as its first come first serve and is quite small. We eventually found a table outside on the patio with tips from one of the waiters. Ordered the lamb skewers, fries, buffalo cauliflower and the grilled cheese with tomato soup. All great picks! We stopped by Poor Hendrix while we were house hunting and were so glad we did. The food was fantastic! The portions were small but it was just the right amount of food to satisfy us. We ordered the steak skewers as an appetizer and the taste was amazing. My husband got the Grilled Cheese on Sourdough and said, "it is the Platonic ideal of grilled cheese", but he is being deliberately pretentious. I got the Peruvian Fried Chicken Sandwich which was good and not something I could have found anywhere else. The service displayed a team spirit as we were sitting at the bar and at least three different people provided friendly and accommodating help. The ambiance was lively and had a real neighborhood feel to it. We didn't end up buying a house in the area and is not somewhere we would normally go, but it is worth the drive to go back. read more

Lamb Skewers. Don't ask questions... Just order them. They're amazing! And the grinder was a solid choice too. The fries were crispy on the outside with yummy seasoning and soft on the inside, just how I like them. The parking can be found behind the building and then you can walk right up on the back patio. Dining is a little close quarters inside but plenty of room and heaters for outdoor seating. The only complaint I have is the portion for pricing (as the name was a bit deceiving, or perhaps it's right on point)... but it IS some quality food if you're ready to spend a little money! read more

Yesterday was my birthday and we were in the area to go to St Mountain Park and we picked the restaurant strictly from the yelp reviews and we were not disappointed! The food was phenomenal the back patio was perfect to allow the dogs. It's covered and has lots of fans so it was very comfortable. Everyone was so sweet and our waiter was Walter and he was GREAT! A sweet waitress that I didn't get her name brought homemade peanut butter cookie treats for the dogs. The party peach cider was THE BOMB! It's not enough in this town to have a great bar anymore, the kitchen has to be great too. PH is a smallish, walk-in only spot in Eastlake at the corner of Hosea Williams and Second. It's a good location because you're all like "Let's go to Oakhurst" and then it's all like "look at all this cool stuff before Oakhurst" and then before long you're stuffing your face at PH. Wife and I went on a date night, relying on the restaurant's current rep for serving American bistro-style small plates. We both had a bourbon mint punch (kind of Julepy) that was sweet enough to cut through the major hit of savory brought by our munchies, which were served adeptly and kitchen-hot. Got the shrimp skewers (great seasoning on these), lamb skewers, cold Asian noodles (spicy), buffalo cauliflower (good texture), and another shrimp skewer for good luck. All great quality stuff. We sat on the patio which was pretty laid back and peaceful. The bar seats were packed inside, so I am led to believe that the real experience of PH is at those bar seats. We'll try for that next time and further explore the menu. Finally, the meal was actually a pretty good value. Multiple high quality small plates, two cocktails, and tip for less than 60 bucks. This was a cool spot in a neighborhood we've never been to before. We didn't have any trouble finding parking or a table outside around 8 pm on a Saturday night. It was a bit cloudy/rainy that day so I could see how this place would fill up when the weather is better. The patio is covered and there are fans for the summer months. For drinks, we had the bourbon tea punch and an oopsie daisy. We ordered drinks at the same time that we ordered food. Our server was attentive without being too pushy. Everything came out around the same time and we could tell the drinks had been sitting around based on the condensation on the glasses. Both were a little on the sweet side and didn't taste particularly strong, but were still good especially for the price. The fish and chips was interesting because it was fried fish nuggets as opposed to a larger filet. The real standout for me was the Italian grinder on focaccia sandwich. Wow! This was so well crafted and with the softest bread, and was just the right amount of spice. I would come back again and again just to eat that sandwich, and I'm not a huge sandwich person, especially when I go out for dinner. While visiting Atlanta we came across this neighborhood bar and eatery. We sat at the bar next to some regulars who guided us through the menu. The bar tenders were very attentive and helpful. We ordered a couple allagash white beers. I have to say that as a white ale lover it was one of the best beers I've had. We ordered the grilled cheese w/ tomato soup bisque, shrimp skewers, lamb skewers, mushroom skewers, and the sticky sesame wings. All was great. I especially liked the shrimp skewers that had the perfect amount of flavorful spice. We enjoyed our food so much we ended up ordering a fudgy pecan cookie. Wow! That cookie was the bomb! The filling of ganache was light and flavorful. I would definitely recommend this place. read more

Do NOT come with kids! There are no kids allowed on patio and the inside seating is very limited. I get this maybe after 9 or 10 pm if it becomes a wild bar scene, but this place seems too chill to have a rule like this. My kid is 12 and is in no way a disruption, but we can't come here because of this rule. I've never heard of anything like this- even at really fancy restaurants. Such a huge fail for the owner who clearly doesn't have kids. read more

Poor Hendrix has just become one of my favorite bars in Atlanta. The drinks are good & strong. The appetizers are delicious and reasonably priced. I fell in love with all the food that graced my tongue. What I loved most, besides the food, is that the bartenders are real bartenders. My guy was able to pair my drinks with my appetizers. I asked him to fix me a drink that paired well with the watermelon salad (which was OMG Good, btw) and he made the best Hendricks Martini I ever had. The other appetizers I tried include the Cold Noodles, Baked Okra (no listed on the menu) and the Rice Krispy treat. At this time the dinning tables are seated outside on the back patio.
