This is a small place located in ossington and college street. There is no easily available parking the lady that first served us tried to deny the booking that cost $25 per person deposit for winterlicious that has already been approved. She advised that there should only be six people for winter licious. However, there were two bookings and two separate tables. The food was average to below average my steak was mostly fat. The other people who had steak were of different quality and had less fat. I do not believe the state to be a good quality considering that big difference between the same kind of steaks that was served. The steak bites were soft, tender but too salty. The polenta didn't taste like anything. They do have a chimichurri sauce, which was good. Their dessert is very small as part of winterlicious. The male server who took over was friendly and nice. However, the lady was not nice at all when I tried to engage for a water or a drink, she would walk away and ignore me. She is so rude. I cannot believe it. On top of that, she only spoke Spanish to two people and ignored everyone else. It's a good thing the male server took over. Do not recommend due to bad attitude or female server, broken refrigerator, fatty and inconsistent quality of the meat. read more

I have taken a couple of weeks and I still wanted to review this because it still bugs me. We ordered the platter of meats, (of course) Unfortunately it was not great. Over salted, and overcooked. The blood sausage was NOT cooked. I don't even think they tried to cook it. As soon as my husband cut into the sausage the blood squirted out and was all over our plate. There is ZERO chance that this was cooked to 160°F. It was cold when it was served (along with all the other meats.) We would have needed a spoon to drink the sausage. We did complain to our server, she said that's how it comes and to eat it. I just couldn't believe it. Obviously she did not tell a manager. Now having said that, that was not the worst of our experience, which takes me to the service. Our server was the most miserable person I have saw waiting tables in a very long time. She was rude, short with us, and just did not care. Every server in that place looked like they did not want to be there. No hospitality at all. I really wanted to give two stars but I just cannot. First time here for winterlicious and I will be back! The carrot ginger soup was delicious! Very filling, a bit peppery but I know it was also a combination of the ginger. Still great. We had the stuffed steak with potato salad appetizer. It was ok but I'm not used to potatoe salad so depends on your taste. Served cold (as it should ) and it was a cold day. So I ordered the soup. We were the first ones there so the bar tender served us. He made a delicious passion fruit cocktail. Loved it!!!! It went down smooth. For the mains we chose the steak which was a pretty large portion and cooked how I liked it. It came with chimmichurri sauce which is very Argentinian, but I'm more a sea salt on my steak kind of person. This one needed that for me. The sliced potatoes were a wonderful surprise as they were freshly made and tasted like really good chips with sea salt. Sooo good!! We also choose the fish of the day with creamy leek sauce which gave it a delicious taste. For dessert we choose tres leches (soooooo good!) and the crepe with Dulce de lace and banana. Overall the ambiance was intimate. The servers all worked riveter and made sure to check in on us periodically and cleaned the table after every plate was removed and getting ready for the next course. Highly recommend!! Dinner service was excellent--the staff were so sweet and homey, the ambiance is quite romantic with the candle lit tables, and the food was DELICIOUS. We got the Organic 12oz Bife de Chorizo New York cut-Argentinian imported steak, came with chimichurri sauce and a sweet criolla salsa (onions, peppers, olive oil, vinegar). The steak was incredibly tender and flavourful. We got 2 empanadas too which were amazing: the beef/olive oil/eggs empanada and the mozzarella/dates/pancetta. So buttery, flakey and filling. I'm not a steak expert, so take this review with a grain of salt (or chimichurri side). While Vos was pretty good, I don't get the hype. Tried their summerlicious menu: - Seafood salad: If you're more into the salad part, you'll love all the greens. If you're more into seafood (or at least more balance), you'll be left wanting. - Argentinian striploin: Compliments to the grill master who got the temperature right (I like mine medium/medium-rare; again, not a steak connoisseur). That said, if this is what Argentinian steak is about, I don't get all the hype. It's not that different from any good (not even great) steak I've had. (At least to my unrefined steak palette.) - Chocolate cake: Mousse-y and chocolate-y, so was good. But super small (like 3 bite small). Overall service was helpful and friendly. Interior was a bit cramped but good ambiance (they have a street patio which was popular). I can see why many people love this place, so maybe it's just not for me. read more

I had a delightful experience at Vos Restaurante Argentino. We came for the Winterlicious menu. The food was amazing. Each dish was delicious and made with such quality. We got Octopus Carpaccio, Beer Braised Pork Croquettes, and Chickpea Falafel as appetizer. Argentinian Ribeye with Almond and Gorgonzola Butter, Cordon Bleu, and Catch of the Day (which was trout I believe) as the main. For dessert we got Three Milks Cake with Strawberry Sauce, Apple Strudel, and Squash and Salty Dulce de Leche Cream Tart. My stands out was the Octopus carpaccio, Ribeye, Cordon Bleu and Apple strudel. The service was superb and the staff were very nice. The vibe was chill. It was classy but homey. read more

Overall a nice meal with tasty food and good service. We started with the sangria, which was refreshing and for food got two empanadas (short rib and butternut squash), the octopus, meat platter, and fries/salad on the side. The empanadas were nice, the butternut squash slightly better than the short rib, but didn't feel like anything special. The octopus was grilled really nicely and had great flavor. The meat platter gave us a wide variety of cuts of meat to try and one from the set wasn't available, so the kitchen gave us a nicer cut for no fee. Amazing dinner as well as service! Started off with the Provoleta al Oreganato which was delicious. The flavors were incredible and it was cooked perfectly. They served it with some fresh baked bread which was perfect! For the main course I had the Asado de tira -beef short ribs with a side of rapini with chorizo. The short ribs were really special! The meat melted in my mouth and it was perfectly cooked. Vos deserves bragging rights with their Argentinean beef. The rapini was also fantastic and it was similar to broccolini. A good option for Argentinian food. I started with a couple options for empanadas (my favourite items of the night), and shared a ribeye and the half chicken. I also had a side of rapini. I would give 4.2 stars for food - the flavours were great but the portions for meat were a bit too much and I left feeling too full at the end. However, the service was great and our wait staff had plenty of personality! This year's winterlicious season takes us (my bride and I) to the Argentinian restaurant VOS. The restaurant offers an intimate setting (maybe in some cases too intimate... more about that later) with slightly sleepy mood lighting. The restaurant has a classy but yet subtle cow theme (fake dairy cow hide trimming and a golden cattle skull are just some examples of the cow themed decor). I'm assuming that the cow theme had something to do with the Argentinian's love for beef in their staple diet. The food itself were good and enjoyable but may need some refinement to be considered to be a great restaurant; I would say the service took on the same quality. Our meal started off with grilled calamari and pork and chickpea stew. The calamari had a good balanced taste that came from the grill and the natural taste of the sea from the squid itself. The calamari was plated on a thick slice of grilled potato on a wooden plank accompanied by fennel and other vegetables. The Presentation was aesthetically pleasing but the potato slice had a section that was over grilled and hence made it inedible. The stew was a very homey dish and was perfect for a chilly winter evening. I however wished that the stewed pork was a bit more tender. But I did like the faint taste of wine in the dish. On the menu they did mention about the dish containing chorizo. I did not find any in it. Then came the main course consisting of an Argentinian bred grass fed organic steak grilled with imported Argentinian charcoal and a catch of the day plate with seas bass and a small octopus tentacle. The steak itself was seasoned well while retaining a strong beefy taste and had a good balance of meat and fat. The surface of the steak was grilled to perfection with a slight char. The only complaint about it would be the fact we ordered medium rare and it was a bit over cooked. The catch of the day had a fresh sea bass portion that was again slightly over cooked. I like the fact that the octopus tentacle was marinated and had a good flavor. You could however argue that it was a bit over seasoned therefore a bit too salty. Dessert was probably the weakest link in the meal. The mantecol cheesecake is of a lighter variety. I personally didn't mind it. But foodies who do not have a sweet tooth may not like the peanut brittle base of the cheesecake due to the level of sweetness. The chocolate mousse had a strong dark chocolate and coffee ganache taste to it. Taste wise it was great but the texture was for sure too foamy for my liking. Perhaps this is because it was a vegan dessert hence the weird consistency. Service wise although everything that you expect was eventually done, the execution itself lacked a certain degree of smoothness and personality. For example the bussers would put the main courses on the table. But our server would only stop by a little bit after to walk us through the dishes. Another example of this was not pre setting the steak knife and the bussers only remembered to grab it after the rib eye had been placed on the table. I almost forgot to talk about the 'too intimate setting. The restaurant dimension itself is very narrow. Coupled with the big chairs (the seat of the chair is very long and the legs may clash with the legs of the table a bit) makes for a very narrow walkway for the servers and guest to pass through. I highly recommend that they look at more compact chairs. Like I've been saying, the experience at VOS is an enjoyable one. But I can only classify it as a good experience but not a great one. 3.5 stars out of 5 would be my final verdict. read more

This is an expensive premium restaurant, one I'd normally avoid as a delivery choice out of fear of losing some of the quality in the commute. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was when it arrived. That said, we steered clear of the steaks for the above mentioned fear. Overall , worth ordering as delivery. read more

Complimentary bread and hummus: 4.8/5. The house hummus (although not Argentinian) is made fresh with garlic and roasted pepper, still warm when served. Bread stick is fluffy and baguette is toasted on griller. Empanada with rib, chorizo and mozzarella: 4/5. Crispy, puffy and soft shell but not greasy, the stuffing is fresh but a little bit salty. Marinated lamb appetizer: 4.5/5. Lamb on the skewer is very tender and marinated perfectly. Ribeye: 5 out of fucking 5. 12(or 14) oz of Imported organic grass-fed free range Argentinian beef for only $38 and it is honestly the best steak I've ever had in Canada. Super tender and juicy, marinated right to the point with chimicurri sauce and some kind of house salsa. Perfect by itself or with sauces. Personally I prefer fresh steak way over dry aged so it really depends on how you like your steak. Steak side (wild mushroom with chorizo): 4.3/5. Keep those garlic coming I love it with my mushrooms. Grilled Spanish octopus: 4.2/5. Surprisingly fresh and seasoning is simple enough to let you taste the ocean. read more

We had a corporate dinner at this restaurant's Etobicoke location and food and service is amazing. There is a wide variety of drinks available - alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We had steak, pasta and the chicken dish on the menu. The starters and desserts were also great! My only wish for improvement is they are very hard to reach when you call them..every call goes to a voicemail and they return calls only days later, if at all. For a restaurant that is just starting, that is very strange. I also handle a lot of events at work and deal with a lot of vendors and venues far bigger than a restaurant, and found it disrespectful when the manager keeps returning messages only to the senior-most person in my company who is hosting the event. My leader honestly dont have the time to coordinate things like this, and that is why its my job to coordinate things. I called to reserve, leave messages to confirm details and the manager messages/calls the SVP..how disrespectful is that! Parking may also be problematic. Oh, and they need more vegan or veg options in the menu, but I guess it being an Argentinian restaurant, meat as the major fare is expected. read more

The only problem is that they kept mixing the orders or bringing the wrong food, but the good news is that the food was so good, that it didn't matter too much to get the wrong food, jajajaja. everything was soooo good. A perfect Summerlicious dinner! For $33 per person this place really gives you an awesome food experience. It's a fancy but completely unpretentious restaurant. It's a hidden gem in Little Italy! Nice atmosphere, great service and delicious food. Our server was very friendly and happy to recommend dishes to us. For $33 per person, we got to try the calamari and empanada as our two appetizers. Calamari was cooked wonderfully, chewy but soft, and it was not overbattered at all. The empanada was flakey and crispy and the stuffing inside was very flavorful. Our mains were the steak and the chicken cutlet. The steak was small (as expected from a price point like this), but was tender and moist. So it was worth it just to have a few bites! It came with some sides, but if you're hungry you should definitely order something else with it. The chicken cutlet was pretty good, fried golden and served with dijon mustard. Our desserts just topped the cherry on the cake. We had the crepes and bread pudding. Crepes were delicate but were filled with dulce de leche (caramel), so indulgent but they served just the right amount! And the bread pudding was just as decadent, but served with the coconut icecream it provided some lightness to the dish. Would definitely come again some other time! read more

Servers were not professional at all, food took 1 hour and a half to come to the table, and their credit machine wasn't working and waited another 45 minutes to get the bill and find a way to pay.Was supposed to be a 1 hour and a half dinner since we all have tight schedules and ended up spending 3 hours + at the restaurant. Food is good but not worth going such a tight space during covid and they can't handle being under pressure when busy. Also waitress mentioned that tip wasn't included on a group table (basically making sure that we give a tip). Hopefully they fix things up. It was a last minute decision to come here for Summerlicious with a group of friends, but for the $33 prix fixe, the food did not disappoint! A few of the girls ordered some of the cocktails from the (short) list they had, and I shared a bottle of wine with the others. *Be warned that the price list of the wines are listed differently on different pages! We ordered a $50 bottle, but when we all got our bills, the price was $58. Though raising attention to the price difference on different pages, our server did nothing at all.* The cocktails weren't memorable, but the bottle of wine we ordered was great, excusing the $8 inflation at the end of our meal. For the appetizer, I got the calamari, while the rest of the table got the potato salad or the empanada. The calamari was different from what I'm used to (battered and deep fried), as it seemed like it was grilled. It was served with a small salad, so the portion size was good. The potato salad had 0 flavor, lacking any seasoning whatsoever. The portion was large as well, but the lack of taste made those who ordered it unable to finish it. The empanadas were huge and delicious. For reference, one of my friends ordered the veggie empanada on top of the prix fixe ($5 each) - it was the size of a softball and the filling was so moist and bursting with flavour. I would highly recommend them!! For the entree, all of us ordered the skirt steak, mashed potatoes and Swiss chard. My steak was cooked perfectly, the mash was creamy and delicious, and the Swiss chard added a nice texture to the dish. Good portion size and well presented, so no complaints for the entree. For dessert, we ordered all three options available - the crepe, bread pudding, and the mousse. The crepe was nothing special. It was filled with dulce de leche and bananas to compliment it. I've had better crepes at banquet halls, which tells you how lack luster and disappointing it was. The mousse was a good mousse, no complaints. The bread pudding, on the other hand, was great. It came on a long dish with three separate parts. All three together were delicious, but the coconut foam was what made the dish stand out from the rest. TLDR; the meal was good. For the $33 price point it was a fairly priced dinner that left us very full at the end of it. For those interested in coming here, the place is small, so I'd recommend making reservations. I would find myself coming back for the empanadas and the empanadas only. I really didn't appreciate the $$ surprise for the wine with no acknowledgement nor apology from the server, but throughout our meal the service was decent. The cowhide decor is a definite miss for me, but the ambience is nice and warm otherwise. read more

this is the first time Argentinean cuisine. we had a meat platter which is not on the menu but saw it in Instagram . it contains assorted charcoal-grilled meat. i ordered a one-person portion but had to share with my husband, it's quite big. grilled octopus is a must try - juicy and tender, not chewy at all, just perfectly cooked! there were a few items not available on that night such of cat of the day, guess probably because it's summerlicious season. it wasn't seem too busy though. according to the lady serving us people usually go on friday and saturday. so i would say the best time to go is sunday evening (they don't open for lunch). service was excellent! totally worth driving all the way from markham. i only rated 4 stars because the chocolate dessert (Budin de pan) was not available. i will definitely revisit and try other dishes. read more

We ordered a "bife de chorizo" and the "ojo de bife" for delivery. Both steaks were wonderful. As well were the sides of mushrooms and sweet potatoes. Everything tasted amazing. I haven't had a good streak since we left Argentina this February. There is nothing better than an Argentine steak ! And now I know where to find one in Toronto. Thank you VOS ! The GM advised 2 steaks cooked to my liking, 2 sides and I requested empanadas as I have always had a soft spot for pastry wrapping savoury fillings. OMG!! F%^king Brilliant! I had a grilled calamari for an appetizer, the Argentinian Rib Eye (request a side of Chimichurri sauce), and a peanut butter crust ricotta berry coulis cheesecake. Just wow! Every bite was incredible. The chimichurri sauce was so fresh, it tasted like heaven. So much care is taken into each dish. I just went to Vos for the second time and meant to write a review last time as well. This restaurant was outstanding. We originally found it on Yelp a month ago when I took a friend to the Caledonian (a scotch bar across the street) a few weeks ago. We were looking for steak and who better than the Argentinians to grill up a succulent one? The spot wasn't busy and service was fantastic. The first time we ordered two (delicious) glasses of wine, a cheese plate to share, steak with Mushrooms for my friend, beef short ribs with sweet potatoes for me, and flan to share for dessert. With tax and tip it came out to about $190 for us. The second time we ordered a bottle of the same wine, two steaks with sweet potatoes (because, yum) and mashed potatoes. This time we skipped dessert and the cheese plate because it was too much food, but opted for the whole bottle of wine. It ended up coming up to be about the same price as last time. If you're thinking about going to The Keg, skip it and come here instead. They import their meat from Argentina and it's all free range grass fed. It's also nice to support an independent company, especially when the quality is this good. My tip, when ordering steak, don't cook it more than medium-rare. I usually have mine about medium but medium-rare was perfect. Another tip, definitely check out the Caledonian before or after for a nice glass of scotch. We found the two establishments pair well together. This is our new favourite night out. The service is great, the ambiance is great, the food is fantastic, and costs no more than any other steakhouse in the city. read more

For the main course we ordered the Short Ribs and Ribeye Steak. The Short Ribs were good, the Ribeye was very good. Cooked to order, tender and flavourful. Both the Crepe and Chocolate Bread Pudding are decadent and very good. We will go back! Had a reservation for four on Saturday night. When we arrived at 7:30 the place was quite empty but by 8pm it was packed. Pleasant ambiance. Not so loud so as to prevent conversation. Friendly staff.
