I love that I can find organic items here, so when I'm in a rush and need just a few things, I don't have to drive all the way to Whole Foods--I can find the same organic products right here. My sister and I were visiting the area and wanted to check out some Armenian shops and bakeries. Decided to try Voskevaz and we were so glad we did. We asked a few questions about the products and ended up talking with Martin for a half hour about everything from the culture to the sweets to the process of getting products from Armenia to the US. He let us sample so many things, all of which were delicious. I have a new love of JoyCo candies. Will definitely return whenever I'm in the area. read more

So many Armenian markets in Glendale. I have been to many but it was my first time here at Voskevaz cause my friend told me it's her most favorite in Glendale. So I stopped by while in the area to do some shopping. Let's start by saying how amazing customer service was. Every person I interacted with was friendly and helpful. I'm amazed. The store is organized and well stocked. Lots of imported products from Armenia. I purchased chocolates, halva, jams, fruits and more. Their produce department was organized and everything looked fresh. The selection on freshly baked bread and lavash was amazing as well. The deli was full of cold cuts and more. Overall a wonderful market to shop at. Great quality and customer service. I will be back. Also they had the most funny greeting cards for birthday and wedding. lol read more

Good Russian grocery store. The staff were all friendly and had a small neighborhood shop vibe. They had a whole selection of dried/smoked meats and fish - their smoked salmon although it was a little pricy, was really tasty. The had a bunch of pickles and canned products, jams, preserved products and the produce section had some exotic fruits that we don't see at Ralph's or Albertsons. I bought some dried pears which turned out to be super tasty I regret not buying two! The grapes they had seems very fresh- almost like they just picked them off the vines. Since I'm not Russian a lot of the products were foreign to me but I would definitely go back again. Our family is from out of town and walked by this wonderful market...their vast offerings drew in our curiosity and we spent 20-30 minutes inside looking at everything. We had a 2.5 hour drive ahead of us and they were so generous and thoughtful...they gave us some ice packs with our meats, frozen dumplings and puff pastry dough!!! They treated us as family - what a great example of kindness. We can't wait to be back in the area so we can stop by again...what we've eaten so far are all delicious. Kind of surprised by some of the negative reviews but then I noticed they're all pretty old. I've been here a few times now and both times were great. I've never had an issue here. Great deli selection. Lots of other yummy treats lining the shelves, most of it imported. Whenever I get a craving for some of the things I grew up with that you just can't find in at a regular grocery store (caviar for example) I swing by this spot to pick up some goodies. read more

So I went to this store a week ago and I asked the cashier if they carry Pistachio Gaz (Persian Nougat), and the cashier responds by saying ''I don't know what that is''. So I then explained to her what it looks like and she replied by saying ''Whatever we have of that nature, it would be in the aisle behind you.'' So I turned around and searched the aisle behind me and when I found what I was looking for, I showed it to her at the checkout stand and she referring to it as ''candy''. At this point I was puzzled, which I then strongly felt like I had to lecture her by letting her know that not only is nougat NOT candy, but that it is also both very unethical & unprofessional to not know the name of an item that is carried in the store in which you are employed at. ESPECIALLY when you are one of the employee's that works there full time! Important side note: Sadly, I already expected beforehand for the employee to not know what Pistachio gaz (Persian Nougat) was because I have had this experience in borderline every Armenian market in Glendale & Burbank, CA where the cashier's were Armenian from Armenia or Russia (Hayastanci) rather than Armenian from Iran (Parskahye). Important side note #2: Especially in Glendale, Burbank & North Hollywood, CA, a good amount of Armenian's from Armenian or Russia (Hayastanci's) have the nerve to make fun of both Armenian's from Iran (Parskahye's/Persian Armenian's) AND the country of Iran itself. But yet these same Hayastanci's not only sell products of Iran at their establishment's, but also make fun of Parskahye's/Persian Armenian's for enjoying the products/country of Iran in which they came from. How ironic huh? Hayastanci's think they are ''better'' than Armenian's from other countries, ESPECIALLY pertaining to Parskahye's (Persian Armenian's). This is all me speaking from my personal 17 years of experience being raised in Glendale, CA. read more

This is my favorite Armenian/Russian market in town! The employees are always nice and help me find new deli meats and cheeses to try. The fruits and vegetables are much fresher than other markets around, and I can tell because I always see the produce merchant bringing new boxes in, letting the customers know what is extra fresh and ripe :) The owner is always friendly and smiling, he knows most customers by their names! I love markets like this! The most important thing I look for in local markets is how clean the produce section is, and it is so clean and organized here, you can tell they put pride and care into their store. If you have no care for fresh produce, then the Armenian/Russian candy and chocolate variety will definitely catch your attention. :))) always ends dangerously for me! I don't know how they manage it, but they always have the best "field" tomatoes. The produce department is always well stacked with fresh and high quality products. Yes this place is a little on the pricey side but just to not go to the ridiculous market next to my house I make the trip here. They have a lot of fruits & veggie selection & they are fresh. There deli is stocked well with cheeses, deli meats & smoked fishes, olives etc.. They have a ton of Russian & Armenian/European goodies & other products even house made lebni & yogurt!
