Artful and creative food in a trendy tourist town. Been to many Michelin starred places and this ranks up there. During our special event, we tried a 9 course menu with numerous vegetarian and vegan options. Chef Sarah Doyle, used local ferns, mushrooms and other produce to prepare some outstanding small plates. Local wine was paired well. The service was attentive, though it took a while to get through the meal. The ambiance is simple, perhaps on purpose, so you focus on the food. Worth a drive from Portland for a special occasion; just bring your Amex Black Card.

Our compliments to the chef! Thank you for such a memorable visit. We stayed in Carson at the Luxury Cabins - for our 12 year anniversary. I wanted to do something special - as we have personally had a very hard start to this year. I conveniently booked online and we drove to a very cute strip in Hood River on the day. I haven't had such personable service - in so long. There is nothing better than exquisite food fueled by passion. Thank you to Maritza and Justice for being so attentive to the experience and any needs. Thank you Nathan, for making our experience - one to remember! For the details, and care. We did the Chefs tasting menu and I definitely recommend the experience. All of our dishes were amazing and the caviar add on - is a must. I will never forget that ensemble. The Risotto was my favorite dish. I will dream about the pear sorbet - forever! Thank you, for a fantastic night.

I celebrated my 40th birthday here, treating myself with the tasting menu. It was divine. The welcome felt friendly and unpretentious. Service was excellent, very attentive yet giving us space. It was a Thursday night in December so it was relatively quiet. The modern and cosy atmosphere was just lovely. I enjoyed absolutely every single morsel served to me . Some bites exploding with flavor after flavor, some melting into sublime deliciousness. The a la carte menu didn't disappoint either! My husband ordered a three course meal and was delighted with his choices also. Go treat yourself to the tasting menu. It's so very worth it. Hats off to the wife and husband team of chef and host. Wonderful job on the restaurant and most importantly the food. We hope to be back again sometime .

Excellent fine dining in Hood River. Fantastic tasting menu and wine list I was not expecting in a small town.

Celebrated my 55th birthday here and it was amazing. The 13-course tasting menu was an artful composition--so delight & flavorful. The service was excellent. The music though, not a kind of a tune that you'll hear at a fine dinning, but we loved it so much!!!

Despite looking forward to sampling this newest entry to the HR restaurant scene (and smiling to see one of the owners of another high-end restaurant checking it out as well), I left feeling that Votum's food artistry isn't matched by its ability to create memorable dishes that please palate and eye. Though the wallet will certainly feel the squeeze! The service is excellent - two servers share a table, water is refilled promptly, and you're never left feeling abandoned. The team knows the menu and the ingredients, and the provenance of most of the ingredients, from the Tillamook Bay cockles to the culture (Flor Danica) used to craft the house-made butter (bread and butter - $6) and the source of the flour (Camas Mills). (Good to know, but on a second visit this could get tedious). The food is also prepared artfully - perhaps with so much art that satiety isn't in the mix. I'm not a fan of restaurants that feel compelled to ensure you leave with enough leftovers to feed you for another three days, but portions at Votum are on the very small side, with prices on the high side. Examples: The Tillamook Bay cockles featured in "Cockles Ceviche" ($12) featured perhaps 2 tablespoons of ivory cockles, a whisper of aji pepper, all tucked into a gray and white scallop shell. Fresh, but mostly a tease of flavor. The first course of crab risotto followed. $27 brought perhaps 1/3 cup of delicate crab lounging atop perfectly cooked arborio rice, with 3 tiny sorrel leaves adding color but no flavor. The chef may be trying to leave topnotch ingredients to sing on their own. Still, I missed having flavorings to enhance the main ingredient, and the white/gray monotony of the dishes we had - with nary a vegetable in sight to add color and flavor contrasts - left me disappointed. My dining companion chose oysters as a starter($25 for what the menu said were "Virginica" oysters). We were told about the oysters being served that night, selected the "Virginica," but the second server who delivered the dish told us that we were getting 3 of one kind and 3 "Baywater sweets." Not wanting to waste the dish, we left it ... but were confused over whether this was a snafu due to lack of communication among the 2 servers or a kitchen decision. Votum's bouillabaisse offers a twist on the French classic, with saffron broth standing in for a tomato broth, white fish and perhaps crab as the seafood proteins. We're willing to eat raw seafood (hence the oysters and the ceviche) but found the fish undercooked. Again, the flavors weren't compelling. Dessert closed with more white - vanilla ice cream. (Other offerings were a lemon tart and a millefeuille whose flavor I've forgotten). Total tab with the mandatory 20% gratuity was $164 (1 glass of wine, 2 appetizers, 1 first course, 1 main course, 2 desserts). Wines by the glass range from $18 to $24; by the bottle gives a broader range from $51 to $980 (for those splurging on the 1985 Dom Perignon). Aside from feeling hungry when I left, I yearned for color and forward flavors - something to delight both eye and palate. Given that adding on another main course and glass of wine would take us to a $200+ tab, I'll need to hear the flavors have risen to match the ingredients and presentation - with more to delight the eye as well.

This place was fantastic. Every dish was spot on delicious. We had the tasting menu and a few ala carte dishes. Service was also top notch. We've been to a handful of Michelin star restaurants. That seems to be what this husband and wife team are trying to create, only much closer to home for us. Highly recommend if you like seafood and wine and have time and $.

Service was prompt, and the restaurant atmosphere is very pleasant. It's kind of funny because you'll have people in suits having a business meeting over dinner, and other regular hotel guests just dining casually in t-shirts and jeans. On both occasions, I was dining with another family member. When we were there for dinner, we were having a really hard time deciding what to order, and our server let us know that there was a 2-for deal going on for some of the pastas. Each of us had been considering a pasta, so that solved that problem! Both were delicious, and we had leftovers to take home. When we were there for breakfast, I was feeling adventurous and ordered the lox and bagel, which I've only had a very basic version of one other time. It was soooo good, and very filling. Several other options on the breakfast menu also sounded really good, but I'm glad I went with this for the experience. I'd definitely eat here again if/when I stay in the hotel again. Since there's no free breakfast offered by the hotel, they give you vouchers for the restaurant, so you can get a pretty good deal on a meal.

Our group came in two chunks and the host seemed annoyed by that. They pushed together another table and sat us together. It was kinda stuffy in the place so I opened up a window as it needed some fresh air. I was told it would possibly mess up the airflow of their kitchen? Some of us decided to split from the main group and sit out on the patio because of the stuffiness. The menu is for carnivores with a veggie burger and grill cheese for vegetarians but not really anything but chips and salsa for vegans. We also found out they only take 1 credit card and cash and no split bills. We were a large group of 14 people. It was a huge pain in the rear to figure out the mess. Honestly some of our party left and went elsewhere when they find that out. Not everyone had enough cash to cover them. When my burger came out they served it to the wrong person and we didn't figure it out for at least 10 minutes. So I got an already eaten plate. It was ok but they should be able to know who ordered what. Our waitress seemed annoyed by us and honestly not that friendly. My burger was overcooked and tasted like cardboard. There were no condiments like mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise on the table. We had to go get some. Just not a good experience here. I won't be back. I ordered my burger and fries and asked for it cooked medium.

The atmosphere is casual and inviting but the food, both quality and presentation, steals the show. We tried a gin cocktail that was as beautiful as it was inventive. We followed this with the brussel sprouts salad which was lightly roasted but still tasted and looked green in the most delightful way, with some kind of light dressing that celebrates the vegetables in the salad medley without overpowering them. We took Calvin's recommendation and ordered the special which was a three mushroom fettuccine: it was perfection. The pasta was served al dente, the mushrooms included shitake, hedgehog, and one other and all had a unique flavor that stood out with each bite. The pasta sauce was buttery but somehow almost effervescent, embracing but not suffocating, with just enough cheese to know it's there but not enough to have it overpower the dish. At this point we didn't think the meal could get any better but then we ordered the pear, huckleberry, and pluot sorbet made at Celilo and we're now committed to coming back. The sorbet featured locally sourced Bosc pears and that flavor may have been my favorite as it was unlike any other sorbet I have ever tasted. All were sweet but complex. Simply an amazing dining experience that I recommend to anyone fortunate enough to get a table here!

Full Sail is a very well respected micro brewery, founded in 1987 and the first craft brewery in the Pacific Northwest to bottle its beer. It's flagship Amber has won numerous awards, including recently in 2025 a Gold Medal at the NY International Beer Competition (along with the brewery being named Oregon Brewery of the Year). It has a large line-up of beers brewed inhouse There is a large paid parking lot across the street at $1.25 per hour, payable via credit card through nearby kiosks. Once entering, there is a long hallway, walking past the working areas of the brewery, until getting to the restaurant area. It has views of I-84, and further the Columbia River. The outdoor patio was not open (drizzling outside), and it was pretty crowded inside but we got lucky to be seated at a table near windows with a view. There have lunch and happy hour specials during weekdays. The lunch special is 1/2 of a sandwich (grilled cheese this day) along with a cup of their soup of the day (tomato). I was super excited about the Amber, so got a pint of that ($8) and pint of the Queen Wheat ($8). My wife enjoyed the Queen Wheat but didn't care for the Amber. I really liked the Amber, making me realize why I had drunk so much of that style earlier in my life when in Wisconsin, before switching over to wheat beer. There selection of beer is great, and a flight is the way to go ($18 of 6 5oz samplers). Buffalo Hot Wings ($17) - a decent amount of simply deep fried hot wings in a classic Frank's red hot buffalo sauce. Pretzel Bread Sticks ($13) - 4 large, warmed pretzels. Should have gotten the beer cheese to go with it. Salmon Fish & Chips ($20) - 3 small pieces of beer battered salmon, very dense and definitely tasting of wild caught salmon. It came with good fries and a really good, fresh cole slaw. There is a small refrigerator stocked with cans of certain beers for sale. Unfortunately, we were dismissively told that they were out of the Amber bottles for sale. So after our meal, went to the front to purchase directly from the front staff. Their Japanese rice beer from their Session lineup ($10 for a six pack) was available and what we brought back home with us.
