The internet and electrical outlets stopped working at our home after the recent storm and power outage. I called VP Electric to rescue us, and they did not disappoint. Service Technicians, Allen and Garrett, arrived at our home on time, and immediately honed in on what was causing the electrical outlet problem inside our home. Allen found 2 electric outlets on our lanai that were completely corroded due to the recent storm. Upon cleaning out and completely replacing the corroded outlets, the power to the previously non- functioning outlets inside our home became fully restored. Allen and Garrett then installed outlet covers to protect the outlets on our lanai from the same corrosion problem happening again in the future. Last but not least, Allen addressed our downed internet service. He installed a new router we provided him, and got our internet service back up and running. Yay! Allen and Garrett proved to be experienced electrical pros, and delivered friendly, expert service. We called around 4 electricians and handymen on the Big Island, and VP Electric was the only company who wad able to reach my 20ft bolted ceiling to replace an old ceiling fan with a new one. Also they provided me with a comprehensive estimate upfront, scheduled a time & date right then. They are experienced, and I can tell that they've done this many times. Very skilled, thorough, confident and efficient. Careful with our walls, floors and furniture with a huge, 250lb 16ft step ladder and they did an amazing job replacing a very high ceiling fan. VP Electric is an exceptional company to work with. A few months ago my home insurance required that I get an electrical inspection done at my house. I called Chad and the very next day AJ arrived. He checked every outlet throughout the house that required him to crawl under the house twice with less than two feet clearance. In June of 2023 our business had its Fire Inspection. 1st time in 17 years of being in business. Besides a few minor issues, the major issue at hand was bringing the Electrical conditions up to code. The inspection noted it had a to be completed in 30 days. I walked in with the inspection sheet in hand and was greeted by John. I explained the situation. He said, let's go take a look. We did. John immediately formed a plan of action. We agreed on Time and Materials. I was ready to close for the 5 to 7 days and let employees take time off. These guys were fantastic. Bad communication at first (probably my fault however). However, they followed up and said they would come tomorrow at 7am. At 7:00 on the nose, they were there and ready to work. He replaced some old water heater timers, replaced a few bad GFIs and tracked down a short that no one else could find. Super nice guy named James who was polite, well spoken, neat and professional. He was missing one part (outside outlet cover) but came back that afternoon to finish even when we were away (gave him permission of course). They are not cheap but fair. I have had bad luck with guys who are cheap but you wind up paying to fix what they didn't do properly. These guys did it right the first time. VP Electric responded promptly to our request for some general electrical work at our home. The company does solid work compared to many of the contractors on Big Island, however, make certain that you get a written quote for the work to be done from them. In our case, the price of the final bill was almost double of what was verbally quoted over the phone after the technician had initially scoped out the job. A customer deserves to know when an oversight on VP's estimate is going to cost them more and be part of the decision process moving forward. Sticking your customers with a larger than expected bill is not how you encourage a customer to pick up the phone for the next job. If you need a competent electrician, give them a call, but buyer beware of unsound quoting and billing practices. read more
