I had so much fun. I was originally a little nervous but the guys working (I wish I remembered their names) were so helpful. They gave detailed instructions and were always available when needed. I'd definitely come back & recommend to others!

We were greeted by 3 staff members (apologies I don't remember their names). I initially thought this was just a venue to smash stuff but it was explained that this is a mental health venture aimed at spiritual healing. After signing the waivers and donning our PPE, we went in. The wooden structure isn't huge so you cant get running starts or make any long over hear arm movements, but it ended being just the right amount of space to get your smash on. Initially I was caught up in the novelty of smashing things, but a point in time came where that novelty faded and I found myself tapping into an aggression and emotion I did not go there with. It wasn't until I stood there out of breath with my hands sore that I truly understood what this place was for. That session provided a space and avenue for me to truly let go, for just a little bit. If you haven't done that recently (or ever), you need to book a session to understand what im talking about. A challenge was issued to me to put in work on the water heater and I made a decent hole in it but that thing was tough. They sure don't make em like they used to.

The site was well furnished with safety gear (goggles, gloves, etc.), tools (bats, sledgehammers, etc.) and objects to smash (microwave oven, water heater, glass bottles, etc.). It was stress relieving and fun with the opportunity to damage and destroy inanimate objects in a normally civilized world. I definitely recommend if in the DMV area.

After seeing a court pop up at one of my favorite…read morerestaurants and then hearing so many friends talk about it, a friend invited me out for some games! I was intrigued to see this giant facility dedicated to playing pickleball. There were several courts, and they even have foozball and ping ping. They have a store with all of the necessities, including paddles, balls, clothes, and more. And you can either rent a court or become a member and just drop in. I am a casual tennis player, and I have always heard pickleball is easier. I was intrigued to observe all the differences -- such as the ball, which is a slightly heavier wiffle ball. It was nice that each court there provided their own. Pickleball courts are noticeably smaller than tennis courts, and playing with paddles sure does feel different than racquets. The scoring system can be a little confusing, and the order to which the players serve is a bit of a learning curve, but I managed to pick it up. It's a lot to explain! I got a great workout in, and I thought the facility was maintained well. Just a few critiques -- it'd be nice for the numbers of the courts to be a bit more visible or have more signage, and higher fencing to reduce balls going over to other courts. But then again, we were mostly beginners, so maybe once we improve we won't make as many mistakes haha.

The facilities are quite nice and they looked like they had a climbing wall though no one was using it. If you also needed a break from pickleball, then they also have a section with foosball, ping pong, and picnic tables to just relax. It is a bit tucked away in an industrial looking area and the parking lot spots definitely had a couple of rivets. The inside is so nice, warm, and cozy. Great especially during these winter months when the suns going down earlier and the weather is getting colder.

I have been to several paint nights and have even left in tears from one of those... that was not the case with Creative Mankind. This company travels around to different venues and offers a variety of painting options. I met up with a group of friends and we painted a Mardi Gras themed picture. Right off the bat I knew it was going to be an awesome experience. We were greeted with upbeat music and beads to celebrate the occasion. Our instructor really put a lot of thought and passion into the class ahead of time. Laying on the canvas was a template of the mask we needed to transfer to our painting. She let us know that we could "go rogue" and change up the colors and skip the sketching parts but I am way not that talented! She had one completed painting on an easel and another blank canvas for demonstration up on an elevated easel. It was visible to everyone in the room without having to stand up. She was extremely accommodating as far as time given for each step, which I really appreciated! It was fun how she would tell us how many songs she would play for us to finish each step... "okay you have two songs to do this step!" There was an assistant who walked around and offered advice and guidance which was helpful. Creative Mankind had partnered with a restaurant that offered drink specials and happy hour pricing for apps! The restaurant provided a dedicated server to us which was a nice touch. And huzzah... my painting actually looked a lot like the sample! Which for me is a huge deal because I am really not artistic or creative with paint. We were all encouraged along the way and our confidence was bolstered by telling us that everyone is an artist but we express our artistry in different ways. I was with a party of six and all of our paintings turned out different and reflected our personalities. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Creative Mankind for any event they host. They also do private parties!

For our last trip in July, I was tasked with coordinating the fun team activity and stumbled upon Creative Mankind. I was considering a couple other options, but when I started communicating with Staci (the owner and host), there was really no question that this was the activity (painting class) I wanted to plan for my team. She was so nice, so patient, and super accommodating in every way possible. She even found the most perfect venue to hold our team event (Lyon Hall). She provided all supplies, ensured the ambiance was great and lively, and her instruction was so thorough! She guided us -ever so patiently- every step of the way. We had so much fun! I would, 100% recommend Creative Mankind for your next work team event!!

It's pretty funny, because here I was thinking that a scavenger hunt is a competition in which you try to be the first to finish and to have all the answers right. I don't know why I thought that, I guess I was just inane enough to look to Wikipedia, THE LARGEST ASSEMBLY OF INFORMATION IN HUMAN HISTORY, for the rules. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scavenger_hunt Anyway, my team finished first and got everything right, then lost on a tiebreaker question to some dweeb virgins who finished 10 minutes after us. It was a tremendous miscarriage of justice that I find deeply upsetting. Besides that, though, I thought the scavenger hunt was done quite well and was a fun way to spend an afternoon. The guy who wrangled all the nerds before and after the event was also quite good at his job. I'd highly recommend this scavenger hunt to anyone who is willing to suspend their respect for the sanctity of traditional scavenger hunt rules.

I'd recommend these for locals rather than first-time tourists since when you're rushing around from clue to clue you don't have a lot of time just to browse the museum. I haven't won a hunt yet, but they're so much fun I don't really care. It's a great way to learn things about the museum you never would've found out otherwise. Wear comfortable shoes as you'll be doing a lot of walking and use common sense with your clothing if you're doing an outdoor hunt. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is it can get a little pricey if you're buying a bunch of tickets for a big team. Tickets are cheaper for the family hunts, but you must have children with you

I went with my niece and was genuinely surprised by how much fun we had! The games were interactive, challenging, and a total blast. We laughed a lot, got competitive, and I'm pretty sure people in the other rooms (or "boxes") could hear us having a great time. I'm really glad we gave it a try, and I'd definitely go back. If you have kids or are looking for a unique family outing, I'd say the passes are well worth it. One quick tip: Know exactly where you're going before you arrive. I didn't realize the location is on the outside of the mall, which wasn't a big issue for me, but it could be frustrating if you're tight on time. The confirmation emails do a solid job providing directions--if you're driving and parking. But if you're getting dropped off (like I was via Uber), the signage and location can be a little tricky to spot. A minor hiccup, but something to be aware of.

We had difficulty locating it, so we ran a bit late for our original 8pm time slot, and adding insult to injury, we received a $10 parking ticket for some strange reason when it was not paid parking. (We even have a handicap placard, so there is absolutely no mercy when it comes to the greed of whomever owns/manages that parking garage). When we arrived to the venue, it was immediately obvious their air conditioning broke...it was sweltering. The kid at the front desk said we should've gotten an email about it, and I double checked...we did not. Our group of four, which included two teens on the autism spectrum, asked which games were available and what they suggested for first-timers. No helpful suggestions whatsoever. We opted to try the Angry Birds game simulation since it was at least familiar to the kids. Maybe this is one of their older games, but it just sucked. In addition to being super stuffy and uncomfortable in the enclosed room, the graphics were terrible and not sensitive to any movement or touch. Within five minutes, the kids wanted to go. It couldn't even sustain their attention for five minutes. We asked if there was another game available, and there was not. No offer for a refund or a come-back-and-try-us-again (when we have AC) credit. What a monumental waste of time and money. Never again.
