This location is very different than the other The Escape Game locations. They have themes that are not available at the other locations in the nation. We played Titanic and Pirate. Titanic was more challenging so we needed help a couple of times but it was fun to play nevertheless. If we have more time, then we would have play the rest of the rooms there, but we can do that in the future. I appreciate that the location is open late at night so you can always find a time slot available. We purchased some T-shirts for the memories. What a fun group activity! Located along M Street NW in Georgetown, the building houses escape rooms and a game experience. My group of six did the "Curse of the Mummy" escape room. We had one hour to escape and it took us 36 minutes to complete it! Our eight-year-old daughter had a blast! Another fun element is the lobby is filled with games from Connect Four to Battleship. Normally, I don't participate in escape games. I don't care for escape games. Not my cup of tea. But I will admit that I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at the Escape Game in Georgetown with my work division. We did the Egyptian tomb escape room challenge, which was not easy. Had I attempted to do it myself, time would have run out. You have to feel good at solving puzzles, understanding clues, and determining what to do next. Each room has a screen with a button that allows to tell you a clue while the time counts down. They give you an hour to solve it. While you can keep your phones and you can technically exit the room if you are feeling claustrophobic (or forget to go to the bathroom before hand), you can't help feeling like poison gas are going to come out of the vents or the statues to kill you once the time has expired. Came here for a bonding activity for our group. There is a lot of seating upstairs as well as a couple games that our team enjoyed while waiting for other groups to finish. We did one of the rooms that had a level 8 difficulty. The staff who was helping our room was super nice but as a first timer at an escape room, I was kind of confused at the video and where to start. The video that explained the challenge was also a little finicky, making it hard to watch. The walls in this section are also pretty thin as we could hear a lot of the other groups when we were trying to solve different challenges. We escaped and had about three minutes left! There are unlimited clues and you can hit a button for a new clue to show up on the TV. read more

Full disclosure, this place is in the midst of a remodel. Do not be deterred when you approach, they are open, just in the middle of a little remodel is all. I really wanted to play a game here, specifically the Titanic themed room. The thing about it was that we were between times, but didn't want to be out past midnight anymore than we needed to be. After looking at the website I decided to give a call to see if we were to take the booking for 11 p.m. if we would be able to get in sooner. It was definitely an odd conversation to have on the phone. Trying to convince them that if there was no one currently in the room (the booking that would necessitate a 11 p.m. start was not booked) that we could come in for the 11 p.m. spot but start as soon as we got there. I take it that they don't have requests like this often. There was a lot of 'hold on, let me ask my manager' moments. But when it came down to it we were able to make it happen. We were able to get there as quickly as we could and they were able to get us going as soon as we got there. The room was fun, and completely kept us engaged for the whole time. We needed a few nudges because we may have been off or the clues misled us. In the end, we got out wear just over a minute left. When those doors opened and we stepped back out, it was amazing. What put this experience over the top was our guide. She was amazing and completely nudged us in the correct direction. When we were done with the room she met us at the door. Explained a few things to us...because we had questions for some of the puzzles. Like did we do them correctly, did we miss anything, and some of the hidden meanings in the room we overlooked. But what was best was that she wrote us a note that thanked us for coming in. I have never had that happen before and it did catch me a little off guard, but I appreciated it. We should have been the ones thanking them for our experience, but they beat us to the punch. read more

This was my first time ever doing an Escape Room event. It was an outing with my coworkers/associates and it peaked my interest because I have heard of and seen Escape Rooms but never participated in them. This was my chance My colleague chose the Pirate's Adventure (they have several to choose from by the way). In addition, each game has a difficulty level and our's was n 8/10 (oh and don't worry you are allowed to have clues). Getting here is tricky because of course it's Georgetown on a weekend so parking sucks but there are several garages/lots to choose from. When you walk in you are greeting by a sitting area to your left, the check desk, merchandise on display, and bar area if you want some drinks before you head up My part of the group was late but they did let us join our coworkers minutes later and the game had already started but it was so much fun having to use our brains and work as a team When you first walk in the rooms have a different theme (ship, galley, tomb) but to get to each room you must solve the puzzle/riddles to unlock the doors. The first room has a black box with a red button that will give you clues. Let me just say our team worked so well together we only had to use 5 clues total In the end, we had 2 minutes to spare and as hard as our game was, according to Gianna (one of the employees) stated we used the least amount of clues of a group she seen complete Pirate's Adventure If you want to have a good time, use your brain, and have some fun while doing it. (Georgetown location) to tackle an escape room with a group of friends. Upon arrival, I was checked in by Brittany; she juggled several tasks capably--saleswoman, host, bartender--for the three large parties that were checking in consecutively. Our party pre-paid for entry, using a Groupon to reduce the ticket price by approximately 30 percent (normally $34.99 per person). As I had visited The Escape Game D.C. before, I only needed to confirm my identity via QR code (they already had a waiver on file for me). Check-in was quick and painless. Unfortunately, the main floor of The Escape Game D.C. is under construction; the fun, quirky vibe of the space was somewhat dampened because of the labyrinthine graveyard of boxes occupying the space between the check-in desk and restrooms. Closer to the entrance, a lounge area replete with board and bar games kept me occupied until our full party arrived. Prior to heading to the escape room (located in the basement), I purchased a White Claw at the bar. The Escape Game D.C. has a limited bar menu, comprised of select beers, wines, seltzers, and non-alcoholic beverages. My White Claw was only $5.79, a veritable steal for Georgetown. No food options are available here (so no notes on the safety of their offerings). Once our full party was present, gamemaster Jordan brought us to A Pirate's Adventure. This escape room is themed as a cursed pirate ship and rated an eight (out of 10) in difficulty. Jordan provided clear instructions before leaving the room so we could begin tackling its puzzles. The room's audio was a little quiet (though only relevant for the first few minutes of our adventure, and backed up with captions on the room's monitor); it was also VERY dark in every space we explored (this was intentional). A Pirate's Adventure was very well themed, replete with some unexpected and a handful of challenging puzzles. We moved through the escape room slowly at first (but sped up midway through our time); in the allotted 60 minutes, we requested two hints from our gamemaster. Our eight-person party finished A Pirate's Adventure with 16 minutes to spare. Once we completed the final task, Jordan brought us 'I Escaped' stickers and indulged our group in taking approximately 700 photos in various parts of the escape room (some props were very photogenic). Jordan let us see the space for Dr. Whack's Elixir of Life, another difficult escape room located in the basement (also 8/10 in difficulty). The Escape Game D.C. has a wall of lockers available free of charge in which we stored our possessions; the space for A Pirate's Adventure was not large, so I appreciated such an amenity. My only complaint of the night was that the basement in which our escape room was located was VERY warm; Jordan apologized and let us know the heat was controlled by the office with which they shared space in the building (so not the Escape Game staff's fault). Overall, I had a fabulous time at The Escape Game D.C. I have two more moderately difficult rooms to complete at the Georgetown location; I'll be back soon! read more

Not the best experience here. Paid a lot of money expecting a private room like other places, but they stick you with strangers without being super clear about that when purchasing tickets. Room was pretty cool but a little small. The actual puzzles were interesting and unique, but there just wasn't enough. We finished with 30 minutes left. This was a date day for us. We drove up and had a blast. I think it's really cute that they have games in the waiting area while you wait for your turn. We did the titanic room and it was pretty cool. I wish it was more to find in there but it was my boyfriend and I and another couple. I'm really happy there was no one else there. Zane was our host and was extremely helpful throughout the experience. He was extremely friendly and welcoming. This location has a bar with snacks and wine and beer. They also have a huge game room area for fun before and after your experience. We had a lunch reservation following our game but were offered a couple of different options. The first was 20% off a gift card for a future booking. The second was 50% off another game if we stayed to play again. I'm excited to return to this location and try out a few other rooms. Had a great time here! We did 4 of the rooms in 3 days. Loved the Elixir room, titanic, Pirates, kinda found mummy meh and very, very dusty but it worked with the theme. If you're claustrophobic I wouldn't recommend that one. We had some awesome game masters, Zayn, Billy, Jorge and Matt. It's pretty expensive to get your own room, but you can just book a few sluts and cross fingers that no one will join. No one joined any of the four rooms we did. Love The Escape Game and especially this location! My family and I did 2 games over a weekend - The Titanic and The Curse of the Mummy. They were both a ton of fun, appropriately challenging and creative. The location is great, in the heart of Georgetown, and it's a perfect place for groups to hang out. They have a fantastic space, with two seating areas and a full bar area where they serve sodas and alcohol. The best part is of course the people. Brie, Matt & Shay all helped us and went above and beyond. Especially with Curse of the Mummy, my daughter was a bit anxious that it would be scary, and everyone took extra care to make sure she was comfortable. We couldn't have asked for more. What a fun adventure. We booked a private titanic room for a date, at a cost of $200. Was it worth it? Yes. We didn't have to worry about other people. What would we do it again? Debatable. That's expensive. Maybe if it was $100, because we went on a Sunday afternoon, and there was no one there. I could see, adjusting the price of a private escape room by demand, like renting a movie theater. The private is just more fun if you have a date or a partner. Afterward, the awkward, taking us through the other rooms was interesting, but a little awkward. Felt like we were being up sold. The staff are very friendly, very nice, they were helpful with hints, adjusting times, making sure everything was wonderful. Had a lot of fun here with my family (group of 6) for my brother's 18th birthday. We were a mixed group of all ages, some beginners and some with more experience and we all enjoyed ourselves! It was our last day in DC and it was freezing outside, so we decided to cut shopping short and try an Escape Room. It's very nicely decorated inside and there's a nice bar. There's also an area where you can take pictures with props. I loved that they had free locker room available for your belongings. For the time slot we were there, there was only 1 room available, it was a Titanic theme. There were only 2 of us so we got placed with a group of 6. They said that Titanic was one of the harder rooms but that if we needed help we could have unlimited hints if we got stuck. We had 45 minutes to escape, and even though we found many of the clues, it was difficult to decipher what to make of it all. We ended up asking our game master 3 times for a hint, but we still ran out of time. We had a good time and at-least we now know what to expect. I'd definitely come back but if it's your first time, I'd recommend an easier room, this one was no joke. read more

This was my first escape room experience. Not sure it is my cup of tea because it was a bit too much of a challenge (I went to The Cabin), but I won't hold that against them. It me, not you... The guy who checked us in was very friendly and made us some nice shots to get us started. The place was very clean and had sanitizers all over which was good to see. We booked the room all to ourselves which made me feel extra safe as well. The only downside was the guide who helped us out. She was ok, but not quite as nice as I expected - and she clearly was unhappy we moved the small refrigerator in the room from its original location. It's not like we remodeled the cabin or messed up anything at all. So for her less than stellar persona I deducted a star. Besides that, it was a very good experience. read more
