WOW! From start to finish, Eric and his team were spot on. Communication throughout the project was excellent. Considered a small project (Townhome backyard, removal of a rotted deck and raised planter area), many paver companies wouldn't even entertain my request. Valdes Pavers came out, gave me a quote and even with two months of delay waiting for HOA approval, he eventually scheduled the project and completed the job in one week. I discussed a downspout drain that doesn't drain properly prior to the start of the project and that we have been fighting our HOA for over two years. Several plumbers have come out but could not fix the issue. He said he would 'investigate' it since the deck was being removed. VP eventually dug up the the pipe, found the breach and replaced the drain pipe which was not even in the original project scope for the cost of materials only! Incredible... Our house is built into a small hillside, and because we have ~30 steps leading up to the front, we've gotten very used to contractors groaning/complaining as soon as they arrive and/or quoting us ridiculous prices, which they'll openly admit is due to the incline. This has been a real bummer, since we've been excited to do any number of home improvement projects. But my experience with Erick was very different. First of all, he showed up on time for our first appointment, which sadly isn't common from what I've seen. He listened to our ideas (digging out the hillside in our small backyard to create a level field where our kids could play, and putting up a retaining wall and some fences), took measurements, asked questions, and said he'd be in touch with a quote. I didn't hear from him immediately so I'll admit I assumed he was ignoring us like many others had. But he soon got in touch asking if I'd received his quote...turns out that he had put one together but I'd missed it due to some email issues. In my opinion, the quote was very reasonable. Long story short, it was a pleasure working with Erick and his team. I've no doubt that there are many capable landscapers out there, but Erick differentiates himself by not only being technically proficient, but knowing how to communicate, listen to our issues, and problem solve. I contacted Erick to come out and see a backyard project I had been wanting to do for a while. We have a small hill that was uneven and all clay soil. Erick came out right away and was very receptive to all my ideas - I wanted the hill cleaned, graded, and then covered in mulch with some stones for pathways. Erick was also super helpful when talking plant selection. In the end, he went to a nursery for me and picked up lots of hedge plants. On the day the project started, Erick showed up with several other guys early in the morning and immediately started clearing the hill. The scope of our project was to break up the concrete on our old, cracked driveway and side walkway and to pour new concrete. We also had our front lawn removed and totally landscaped our front yard with drought resistant plants (with a drip watering system), brown mulch and a few large rocks. After the project started Eric pointed out that our 40-year water drainage system was completely blocked and the pipes were cracking so new pipes were added to the project. Eric, the General Manager, oversaw the whole project from start to finish. I have worked with many remodeling and home repair contractors, but no one compares with the efficiency and professionalism that Eric and his crew had. Communication was excellent, Eric and his crew were always on time and always cleaned up each day. There are so many details, large and small, with a project like this but we never felt overwhelmed. What was amazing was that each day, I would prepare a list of questions for Eric and before I could ask them, Eric would talk about the same issues.
