I really didn't plan on leaving a review, but I feel like I should share what happened. I booked through Vrbo and arrived on April 7, 2026. Right away, the place just didn't feel like what I expected. There were some cleanliness issues, accessibility concerns, and the elevator wasn't working, which made things harder than they should've been. Because of that, I decided to leave shortly after arriving and didn't stay at all. I returned the key and reached out to both the host and Vrbo right away to cancel and get a refund. What's been frustrating is that nothing really got resolved. The reservation wasn't canceled, and even though I was told a partial refund was issued, I haven't received anything. A full refund wasn't approved either. I also didn't hear back from Vrbo after following up. Overall, it just wasn't a good experience, and I wish things had been handled differently.

DO NOT BOOK THROUGH VRBO. I REPEAT, DO NOT BOOK THROUGH VRBO. The host misrepresented the property. The entire building reeked of smoke, and there were drug users and homeless people IN the hallways of my rented apartment. The host was largely unresponsive, and was of no help. Neither was Vrbo customer support. In fact, it is the WORST I have ever seen in my life. They put you on hold for what seems to be FOREVER, keep transferring you to other departments, the line will often drop, and they do not have a good record keeping system, so you have explain yourself OVER AND OVER AGAIN. They do not appear to be based in the US/Canada and all sound robotic as if they are reading from a script. They stated that a refund was at the discretion of the host, and they couldn't do ANYTHING to make things right. Essentially no protection for the guest WHATSOEVER. Anyone can simply make a listing, post devious pictures and misrepresent the fact, and we're basically at their mercy. You can send pictures, videos and testimony to no avail. I've now lost over $600 to this misadventure. NEVER AGAIN. If you must, please, ONLY use Airbnb.

Don't ever use Vrbo for making any reservations!!! I booked a condo using them and paid in full in Vail CO. Right before the vacation I logged in to print out my details and I found my was cancelled. I checked my email and found ONLY ONE email stating "Sorry host had to cancel your reservation" in my inbox. No reason was given! Unfortunately I missed that email So here I am a day before leaving for vacation scrambling to find a new hotel for which prices have skyrocketed in the area. I thought they are Expedia group so they are reliable, unfortunately NOT!!! PLEASE BEWARE!!! I wish I could give Zero Star read more

I will never use VRBO again. We just returned from a stay in Branson, MO. VRBO charged me 46.6% more for the cabin than management of the cabins charged when renting directly from them. read more

It is a shame that VRBO is not advising their owners to refund peoples reservations made during COVID19. We did not cancel lightly. We cannot fly nor attend anent in the cities we reserved space. A reality. check is sorely in order for VRBO and owners. My reservation was for a New Orlean location #9284635 near 7th ave and Demonbreun Street. I understand the 60 day cancellation policy, however no one can travel anywhere between 4/29-5/2/2020. Partial or full refunds are in order. Making people suffer when they can not even use the reservation due to a world wide pandemic shows how greedy and out of touch these people are. BTW- I had a Home Away 4/2-18/2020. That owner called conversed and we received a full refund. The difference between empathy and greed. This owner did not even try to speak with renters. I will be posting this notice everywhere. Thank you to the owner for being so universally stupid. Debra. Hamilton 719PSF-1NOB-HA#9284635 read more

Do not use this platform to list your vacation rental. The fees are very high for both the host and the guest. Then they send emails to the guest from the host requesting payment that they keep! They sign my name to an email; isn't that fraud? In addition, to get paid, they require that you authorize debits from your bank account before they will send you the rent money. Stay away!!! read more

Stay away from them, first of all I'm not sure what they do to justify the large payment they take for themselves. They do nothing and Air B and B is a much better organization. Example: They ask for review of the vacation home at the end of the stay. Write the review and try to send...whoops undeliverable due to their server being full (???) Can't resubmit and, really they can give a rats ass anyway. Screw them, book on your own as there is no customer service anyway. read more

I wish I had looked at the other reviews before I booked on VRBO. The home rental was fine, but then THE OWNER HELD ON TO 50% OF MY DEPOSIT, $500!! For no reason. We were the best renters. Cleaned everything! I've been disputing this with the company for weeks, and I'm getting nowhere! No one knows anything, on hold for hours. Just the worst!! read more

VRBO is a real scam. They charge you an additional $805 booking fee that mysteriously show up on your credit card for questionable charges that the owner passes on to the renters. The property owners also have the option to charge you the entire amount 2 days after you book for a stay five months in the next year. Avoid VRBO if you can. read more

Booked a room in Montreal Canada didn't see in posting that it said hostel. Posting said nothing about shared bathroom or shared shower. With Covid I didn't feel comfortable staying there due to being immuno compromised. VRBO said to go to unit then call them. Went to unit and it was the dirtiest and most disgusting place I have ever seen. Unit owner was rude and wouldn't refund me. I spent several hours on the phone speaking with several VRBO customer service reps and was originally told they would find suitable replacement- they did not and would not refund me we. We were stuck in another country with nowhere to stay. Horrible experience I would recommend getting a hotel and not dealing with VRBO!!! read more

I actually booked the boat rental through HomeAway shortly before they were bought by Vrbo. The rental was for a 3 night stay on a 50 ft boat at $125 a night. Sounded great, sounded different, had good reviews so I booked it. The day of arrival I noticed something in the description that I don't remember seeing before but it was too late to cancel. The description stated the bathrooms were not fully functioning on the boat. There were two "one had no functioning toilet" the other "had a low water pressure to a shower the size of a small telephone booth and a toilet that should only be used in a emergency". Who rents outs a boat with partially functioning bathrooms? Needless to say it was too late to get our money back and we had to go through with it. Upon arrival on opening up the back glass doors of the boat a smell hit both of us. My wife described it as raw sewage I called it the chemical that you use to treat raw sewage in R.V.'s. We have a R.V. and I R.V. never smelled like this. We proceed in to check out the place. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. It photographs better then when you see in person; at least it was clean. My wife needed to use the bathroom and since we were not to use the only functioning toilet on the boat unless it was a emergency she went to the bathroom at the Yacht Club where we were told we could use the showers. Needless to say she was not impressed. She told me it was filthy. There are two sinks, two toilet stalls and two shower stalls. The toilet stalls had T.P. on the floor and a overflowing trash can on the floor that sits between the two stalls with used feminine hygiene products in them. She refused to use the shower that night since the rest of the bathroom was that dirty how clean could the showers be. Over night she had to use the bathroom, so instead of going outside in the dark to walk up to the building to use that dirty bathroom, she used the one on the boat. BIG MISTAKE! As soon as she flushed an even worse smell of sewage flooded the room through the AC vents. So now we have double the odor in this small area. The next morning after a crappie nights sleep she went to speak with someone to find out when the bathrooms would be cleaned. She came out and told me that someone was going to clean them today but they are only cleaned twice weekly. At that we went to Wal-Mart to buy some cheap flip-flops to shower in. The description says the bathroom facilities are private and has a code that locks the doors. That is the overstatement of the year. The bathrooms/showering facilities are glorified public bathrooms. On the backs of the main doors are instructions to the restaurant staff to wash their hands. So already you can see this is not a private bathroom. Restaurant staff use these bathrooms, people at the bar on the other side of the building use it as we watch them walk to them and anyone who happens along uses these bathrooms. This is why they are so nasty. Meanwhile the locked door. The doors are antiquated, rusty and no the locks do not work. There are four buttons l,2,3,4. You are suppose to be able to push in a three digit code. It does not work. Either the doors are not fully closed and everyone use the bathroom or the doors are fully closed but you cannot get in even with the correct code. You push the three digits and the door does not budge. We try not to be there during the day but at some point we have to come back so that we can at least find a parking space. That was another issue with this rental. The parking lot that you have to use is shared with two apartment/condo buildings, a restaurant, a bar and the anyone with a boat at the docks. On top of this it was the 4th of July weekend. This made it extra hard to find parking. When we were there, we turned off the A.C. and opened the doors and windows to air out as much smell as possible. We did not realize how insidious this odor was until the second day when we went to use our towels in the bathrooms. That odor had saturated itself into our towels, our clothing, everything. We smelled like an outhouse! I was never so glad for three days to be over. We reached out to the owner of the boat. He did respond with apologies but that was about it. He admitted that he did not check the black water tanks "this is where your poop and shower water goes in R.V.'s or boats". It was full but that still does make sense why the smell was coming out of the AC vents unless there was some spillage below. The owner never ever offered to refund us anything even though he had admitted fault in causing the smell in the boat. As far as the conditions of the bathing facility, that was out of his hands but he will gladly pass along what we told him. Really three days of inhaling someones else's feces and all I get is a thanks! I could not post this entire saga on HomeAway/Vrbo because they only allow you 1500 characters. Vrbo offers no consumer protection or recourse. read more

Made a reservation for a 4 day stay in Naples, FL through VRBO/HomeAway. The web site indicated the minimum stay was 2 days. I made a reservation for 4 days. 2 days after making the reservation I was contacted by email and told the reservation was being canceled because the minimum stay was actually 6 days. I was told I would receive a full refund. It has now been over 4 weeks and no refund. I contacted VRBO/HomeAway and they are now telling me that the refund does not come from them but the canceling property. I told them I wanted the credit posted to my credit card within 2 days or I would file a protest with the credit card company. No more rentals for me through VRBO/HomeAway! There are too many hidden cost. I paid for insurance and when they found out I had the insurance they said the cost for a towel and Mattress cover was double the original cost. I also said amount of children, adults and bringing our dog at time of reservation and they after the fact charge me a pet fee saying it wasn't included even though it is clearly marked when I made the reservation. I've never had this many issues with Airbnb. Vrbo properties also notified me on my previous trip booked 6 days before I'm to arrive and had made reservations months in advance that they had to cancel for that location. I switched and used Airbnb and my trip went fine no hidden cost. read more

I am giving a low rating due to the fact that a host is given up to 24 hours to either accept or decline your home request after you put in your credit card information. I booked a rental and put in my credit information and received notice 8 hours later that the home was not available. There was not much else to pick from (nothing on airbnb) so i took another chance and booked another home. Again the home came up available on the search, it took my payment information and then i receive a message that the place is not available. Don't waste your time. Use airbnb. Homes that are actually available will come up in your search. read more

BEWARE! You may think you are booking with "Vrbo" but they have many different names. I only used this site as several family members booked through them. Not being savvy about booking this way, I was under the impression that I was booking through Vrbo but, in reality, it was with Evolve. Vrbo does provide refunds. The wedding was in New Hampshire and several of us were going to share the cost. Due to Covid-19 (new catch phrase), the guest list was extensively cut and none of us would be going. Vrbo did refund the service fee of $99 but Evolve now has $488 of my money (in good faith, I made an additional payment of $300 so as to space out what was due). When I was cancelling the reservation of Oct 2- Oct 4 for Property ID: 4647811 in South Tamworth, NH, I found out I would not get a refund. Evolve did return responses to emails and phone calls. In the beginning when I spoke to someone about the additional payment, they said I would get a full refund if cancelled within a specific amount time. Two and a half months was well within the time that the young lady told me. The "team member" who called me said that no one would tell me that. Interestingly enough, four other families did get a 100% refund booking with Vrbo. After much research, I was able to locate the owners (lawyers!) and they were not helpful at all or compassionate when I explained that due to medical expenses, losing that amount of money is a hardship. There is a common law doctrine in New Hampshire and Vermont called "Frustration of Purpose" and this states that if a party has no control over the circumstances and it was not intentional, the contract is broken. No one cared to check into this. The first wedding that we were to attend in NH this month had the same thing happen and I was refunded 100%. It's bad enough the bride and groom are not going to have the wedding they hoped for (and they got refunds from the venue, etc.), but the financial loss is devastating. Don't go to Vrbo, Evolve, Vacation Rentals, etc (all the same company) to plan your vacation. Find other ways that are tried and true. Joanne S read more

Cancelled my reservation within the required timeframe and was supposed to get 100% refund. After multiple calls with VRBO, still hasn't received the payment. They apologize every time but blame it on their system/the host. I am about to call my credit card company to get the money back. Will never use them again. read more

I had booked a property for an overnight in Philadelphia. I arrived at the location after a successful (so I thought) booking. When I arrived to location I called the host which was HP Management after not receiving any information on how to access the property and was told that they no longer "manage" the property and they have had that location "blocked off for months" stated by the host. While talking to the host who's apparently was a middle man or as he said a direct contact for the owner of the property who as he stated lived out of the USA was told That he can't do anything for us but offer a refund. Which okay refunds are fine but after traveling I dodnt want a refund I wanted a replacement property. He told me that he can't do anything for me. Was not empathetic or sympathetic on the issue and told me to hold my breath. So I then proceeded to call vrbo with my complaint and they saw my reservation then magically after I told the host I was on the phone with VRBO (they saw the property available before I let the host know I was on phone also with VRBO) that then the location was blocked. I am not prejudice but you could tell he was from another country. The women I spoke to I truly believe tried her best to help was unable to provide a relocation but a refund. I at the time had hp management on speaker along with verbo on speaker so they could hear each other the customer service rep said by what he was saying Thay there was something off about the host. It was my husband birthday and had things booked and deposits on a show and dinner keep Thay in mind. It is safe to say this is the first and last time I will be booking with VRBO. Once again let me state the lady from VRBO I think tried her best but I no longer trust VRBO. I have lost the opportunity to make memories and have a stress free vacation and had to book a hotel due to the unprofessionalism by the host. DO NOT BOOK ANY PROPERTIES HOSTED BY HP MANAGEMENT. I am so disappointed by my experience and had made my husbands birthday stressful and disappointing. read more

I wish I would not know vrbo. Airbnb is much more flexible and reasonable in cancellation policy. In this pandemic situation, 60day/30day/14day cancellation policy is ridiculous. Moreover, I took cancellation insurance but it is so much pain- need to bring form to doc, get a signature, so much work. I do NOT RECOMMEND VRBO as well as CANCELLATION INSURANCE such as CSA protection. I paid 45 dollars for that and need to pay Doctor's office visit fee. This is JUST waste of money. read more

I have been renting homes on Cape Cod for approximately 10 years. This year I booked a home for August 10-August 2019. Unfortunately a family situation came up and I looked to cancel the stay. Seeing as it is March I figured I was giving them advance notice. Though their policy says you do not get any refund back, which I could see within a week or two, they refused to give me anything I run a very busy medical practice and know that customers come first. This is a very poor business practice. Next year I will be looking for another site to book my home. Three friends that I know will no longer be booking with this site either. Going forward we will be looking to book at airbnb.com because they do not have this policy. You should look there too. read more

Wish I could give negative stars. VRBO is a terrible business. They double booked a vacation and now are telling us to wait a week for our refund. Funny when we booked they demanded immediate payment, but now we have to wait a week I be made whole again. Notice I didn't say refund, because that implies they provided some sort of service(good or bad all they did was conduct wire fraud). All Vrbo did was steal our money, and until it's returned that's how I will Consider it, it's theft plain and simple. My wife was on hold with"Tiffani" for over a hour who just kept saying mam and providing no real assistance. My wife asked over 20 times to speak to a supervisor to which she would not. Finally "Tiffani" stated a supervisor would call as back at some point but would not say when and would not provide a name. Avoid this company, Vrbo engages in shady business practices, tell your friends. read more

We are having issues with trip cancellations through VRBO. Currently, they are only issuing full refunds for trips booked through April 30th, even with the recent Shelter In Place extension. If we do not cancel by today, we risk forfeiting our entire payment in hopes VRBO extends the full refund period beyond April 30th. Our trip is scheduled for May 1st!! We are being pigeonholed into losing money for a matter beyond our control. I imagine others are having the same issue, since this is a VRBO guideline. This situation has me rethinking the use of VRBOs in the future. Maddening! #VRBO #MusicCityLofts #shelterinplace #bayarea read more

VRBO IS THE WORSE RENTAL PLATFORM. I just spent 45 minutes on the phone trying to get them to make an adjustment to the tax and service fees on a reservation I made. We rented a condo in Provincetown for the week of July 11th. The owners have a no cancellation policy. The event we were attending was canceled. The owners agreed to lower the cost from their premium price to their regular pricing. They made the adjustment on the VRBO's site, but VRBO did not adjust the tremendously high service fees or State and local taxes. I was told by a customer service person that once a reservation is made, VRBO does not have the ability to adjust the fees and tax. I was told I had to cancel and rebook. This is fine, but I already paid VRBO $7000.00 and I would have to wait 4 weeks for a refund of that amount. I also use this platform to rent a home I own in Cape May, NJ. I am canceling my account with them. Air BnB is so much more user friendly and fees are lower. VRBO sucks. If I could have given 0 stars I would have. read more

Sadly, unlike Air BNB, VRBO are leaving their customers hanging in this challenging time of fighting the corona virus. I was forced to cancel my trip due to travel restrictions and the host is refusing to refund. I had the same thing happen with Air BNB, and they completely refunded me. However, VRBO is not stepping in to protect their travelers, leaving us to fight greedy property owners on our own, in which most have been unsuccessful in collecting any kind of refund. Unfortunately, I have lost over $4,000 on a trip I had no choice but to cancel, while also losing my job in the last week due to the pandemic. It's absolutely unacceptable to treat your customers this way in the most challenging of times. read more

My horror story starts on Sunday, Nov. 29. I was very cold that day and decided to turn up the heater. I pressed the heater about 6 times but the temperature wouldn't stay at 76, so I decided to text the owner very politely and ask her if the thermostat was working. Long story short, the owner went completely crazy after this. She started sending me screenshots of the current temperature of the home; that's when I realized that she could see and control the temperature of the home from her phone. It's not that the thermostat wasn't working, but every time I tried to put the temperature above 70 (this is in late November), she would immediately turn it off. Then she started texting me non stop for hours, like a completely crazy person. She texted that she would come to the home next day and fix the thermostat because it was broken. It wasn't broken, she just wanted to set it up so that I wouldn't be able to set up the temperature at any point higher than 70. I was freezing and upset that I had paid so much money and this crazy lady didn't even let me turn on the heater. In addition, she started sending me nonstop screenshots all evening and night letting me know that she was monitoring the temperature. She started sending me condescending texts saying that if I didn't take care of the energy there wouldn't be anything left for our children. I was in shock and immediately called Vrbo at least 20 times throughout the night because I kept on getting transferred and/or disconnected every single time. At one point I was even considering calling the cops because I honestly got so freaked out by her constant texts. At one point I begged her twice to stop texting/sending messages through the app. because I had to wake up early next day to work and she was still texting me screenshots of the temperature after midnight. She also kept on saying that she was going to show up next morning to "fix" the thermostat even though I very politely asked her to please not come during the day since I was busy working from home and in meetings and that I was also trying to quarantine. That's when she proceeded to threaten me and tell me that she was going to just cancel my reservation and not issue a refund if I couldn't keep the temperature under 70 degrees. She also said that I was lying and not quarantining because SHE HAD FOOTAGE of my boyfriend coming to visit me one night. I was creeped out, I felt like my privacy was being disrespected, the way she stated it as "having footage" really made me feel like I was being watched and it was such a disrespectful and condescending way to address a guest. I was shocked! I don't know why I proceeded to politely explain that he was also quarantining, when it was none of her business. She was so offensive and I honestly felt a little threatened that if I said the wrong thing she would just show up. Her constant texts at that time of day and her previous behaviors the few times I had observed her in person made me feel like she wasn't very balanced psychologically and I just didn't' want to risk it. I called Vrbo and let them know about the situation. One of their representatives even suggested I call the cops when I released access to the conversation that (thank God) was mostly texted through the app. However, with my plan to quarantine and how uncomfortable I was staying there and thinking about not wanting to trigger a psychologically unbalanced person, I let Vrbo know at 3 am Monday morning, November 30 that I was in the process of packing and I was going to leave first thing in the morning. I explained the situation, gave them access to the conversation, told them if she texted me one more time I would file a police report, and demanded a refund ONLY for the nights that I wouldn't be staying there. I got one hour of sleep that night and at 6am packed everything into my car and left the property. While I was on the road driving for 10 hours, she started texting me. When I got a chance to stop at a gas station I simply blocked her number. This has honestly been the worst experience of my life. One could argue that I overreacted but as a woman alone (my boyfriend lives in another city 2 hours away from Irving, TX) a woman of color, a foreigner in Texas, I really didn't want to risk it with the current social and political climate with someone clearly psychologically unbalanced. I consider writing reviews or complaints a waste of time. However, I am taking the time to write this because I'm in shock and I truly believe this situation was completely unfair and unethical. I felt threatened and Vrbo not only was completely useless, but they're still refusing to issue a refund for the transaction. This has been the worst experience of my life and no one that crazy and disrespectful should be allowed to rent/manage their property on any of these platforms. Please stay safe and stay away from renting properties on Vrbo! Thank you for your time!! read more

My husband and I first started renting our property through VRBO approximately ten years ago. We continued until about 2016 when we took a break for a couple of years. The website was great, fees were annual, and I handled everything myself...reservations, money...etc. We recently got into the rental business again and, much to our dismay, annual fees have not only doubled, but we have to pay a percentage for income we make on OUR OWN PROPERTY, the renter has to pay a ridiculous fee for renting our property, and they won't give us our money!! When I called their Customer Service Dept, they said our rental had to meet criteria before we get the money for renting out our property...how ridiculous is that?! Otherwise, VRBO keeps the money the renter has paid for our rental until the day after the renters show up...NEXT YEAR!!!! Then they will deposit it into our bank account. read more

I have had to follow up continuously since then. It is Nov, 2020 and I am still trying to get my refund. BBR says they never got the money from VRBO and VRBO says they sent the money to BBR. VRBO has appallingly poor service! I generally do not have the time or energy to write such reviews regarding my experience with a company, but my experience with VRBO has been egregious that I feel compelled to share my experience as I have wasted countless hours during my workday to speak with a company where the people are not doing the job that they promise. My husband and I booked a stay for $2,534.21 through VRBO this past December of 2020. Due to getting covid, we were unable to travel and unfortunately had to cancel our vacation- which was supposed to be the highlight to our awful year filled with grief and loss due to Covid. The property owner, James (Property ID: 640485) of Black Rock Rentals in Kaanapali, Lahaina, Hawaii, stated he would not give us a refund but would give us a credit. When inquiring about the credit and how to use the credit, he did not respond and still has not responded to any of our messages for 5 months. Unethically, he gave no responses to our VRBO site messages or to any one of our 50+ phone calls on any of his phonelines. We thought that the appropriate next step would be to reach out and speak with VBRO directly. Oddly enough, after keeping us on hold for 45 minutes to 1.5 hours each time, for over 20 phone calls, the customer service representative would hang up and never call back even though they first asked, "is this the number we can call you back on if we should be disconnected?" I have not been called back even ONCE after the phone line was "disconnected." In fact, once after being told I was going to be placed on hold, I heard the "customer service representative" laugh towards me and hang up. The website states trust, safety, security, inclusion, and support. VRBO seems to have majorly failed in every one of these categories: 1. I DO NOT TRUST VRBO. I did not and do not feel I can stay with VRBO and rent with confidence, and I do not/will not recommend it for anyone else. 2. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WITH VRBO. I do not feel as a guest that my stay or my money is being protected and I am not receiving the service for which I am paying thousands of dollars. 3. I DO NOT FEEL SECURE WITH VRBO. There is no trust between owners and renters. They partner with extremely rude and neglectful owners who have no idea how to deal with renters or respond to communications. 4. I DO NOT FEEL SUPPORTED BY VRBO. The "teams around the world" that claim to be of help, are not helpful at all. They are extremely rude and disrespectful and have no interest in helping their customers. They do not call back if the phone line gets "disconnected." I was hung up on multiple times. I am not receiving a response from the owner of the property or from any customer service representative at VRBO of what to do next. I have not received any response about the so-called "credit", and I understand that I am not entitled to a refund, however the owner, after promising to give a credit, is ignoring us completely. VRBO does not allow you to post negative reviews for owners who cancel your reservation early, so I am posting one here. Aspen Apartment Property ID: 2019329, Property Manager's name is Dyna. I had booked a reservation in July and they cancelled in October because the owner "found a long term tenant instead." Completely unprofessional and I can't believe VRBO would 1) allow this type of owner to remain using their site and 2) not help me re-book a similar unit the same price. Total scam. read more

This company is a trip lol, calls my fiancée on the day of her check in only 2-3 hours before saying they have to cancel it so to a plumbing leak? Very Ridiculous due to the fact I had her Grandma come out from Iran as a surprise for her 21st. Very disappointed. read more

BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID. 1081 Hummingbird Ct Colorado Springs, CO. We got to the "private apartment with a theatre" which turned out to be a basement with a broke projector screen and four love seats propped up on 2×4s. We stayed 2/3 days but finally left a day early and went to a hotel. A week later the host charged us $300 on TOP of the 303 we paid for the stay, claiming that "we spilled coffee and they're unable to clean it." I called VRBO and they agreed even if coffee spilled, which it wasn't that $300 is excessive and insane. They sent the host an email threatening to pull the listing if they didn't refund it. Well 2 days went by and the money wasn't refunded and their listing was still up. VRBO then said they agreed with me but there was nothing else they could do so I had to cancel my debit card and dispute, which may not even get my money back! The most ridiculous company ever. Plus they're all outsourced in different countries and working from home so on top of having a hearing issue, I can't understand the accent and their kids screaming in the background doesn't help. And if you call, prepare to spend more time on hold than actually working on your problem. To date I've spent 4 hours on the phone simply holding to, "see what they can do." We were absolutely robbed and will do anything and everything we can to let everyone know not to do this. They give the hosts 100% access to your card information to charge as they please with no means to rectify fraud. BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES. read more

RUN AWAY!!! I spent over 3 1/2 hours on hold with the incompetent staff @ VRBO Trying to add a guest name to my reservation... WTF!!! I booked a place of a birthday present for my daughter and her husband but was unable to add their names so they could check in!!!!!!!! All I wanted to do was add a fucking name to my F'ing and after 3 1/2 hours I was told no. Seriously what the hell if you're a travel company do you can't be flexible to add an actual name of your guest. When I first rented it I said it was two adults but nowhere in the renting process to ask me the name of the other adult. And I can't get a refund... Again run the fuck away from VRBO. I will never use them again ever ever ever! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to add a fucking name to an itinerary!!!!! By the way I woils give them negative stars but it won't let you post without at least selecting one star read more

I will NEVER go through VRBO again unless my issue has FULLY been resolved. VRBO isn't screening their "HOSTS" at all to see if these HOSTS are in fact owners of their homes and NOT renters of an apartment complex! I should have known from the beginning when the so called HOST put the wrong address on her ad so that her apartment complex wouldn't find out that she was going AGAINST her lease and subletting her SUBSIDIZED unit out! I should have known when the HOST asked me NOT to speak with anyone around the complex and especially her neighbor. Finally, the home was GROSS when I checked in on a Tuesday and the so called "OWNER" said that the cleaning lady would come that Saturday but did she? NO! The owner texted me saying the cleaning lady canceled. Coincidence? NO! VRBO has put me in a VERY uncomfortable situation and I am fighting for a resolution. I feel trapped that I can't even talk to anyone, I feel gross because I can't even shower in the gross shower and I feel used! I have contacted VRBO but they keep saying that there is NO supervisor to speak with and that they will call me but NO ONE HAS CALLED ME. I have been hung up on twice! No one at VRBO is taking this seriously when in reality it is THEIR mistake for not screening these HOSTS! To top it all off, when I spoke to the property manager of this apartment community and she verified this was COMPLETELY against their rules, the property manager confirmed this said OWNER is on a LOW INCOME BASED PROGRAM and pays very little per month! read more

We made reservations for July and had to cancel. We cancelled well before the required time to receive 100% refund. Property owner Sean refused to respond to emails and calls from both myself and VRBO. He also refused to return our deposit of $1700.00. VRBO was of no assistance and made promises that they did not keep. Went through our bank to dispute the charge. Stay away from VRBO, Homeaway and Barnstable MA property listed by Sean M.!! read more

Do Not Book with VRBO!!! VRBO left customers paying for cancellations that are out of their control due to COVID-19. After spending 10+ hours on calls and chats with customer service, they will not contact the homeowner for fear of being antagonistic and leave the option to refund entirely up to the homeowner's cancellation policy. Unfortunately our Shelter in Place mandate came AFTER the homeowner's 30 day cancellation parameters for our trip. I have made several attempts to discuss options with the homeowner and only received further requests for payments. VRBO's policies do not protect both sides of the equation equally and do not address pandemic circumstances. Unacceptable and I hope consumers hold VRBO accountable. read more

After checking into our house at 38 North Forrest Beach on Hilton Head Island, managed by iTrip Vacations, who is affiliated with a local company called Low Country Rentals, who in turn lists properties for rent on VRBO, we began discovering a series of issues. The first was the living room television. We got a prompt call back about getting it to work, only later to find if it was turned off everything had to be reloaded which took more than 20 minutes. The only way to get it to come on was to unplug it and plug it back in. Days later, we found that the DVD player could not be connected to it either. Soon, guests began discovering several toilets were backed up and overflowing when used. The office had closed by then. Plungers were not helping with two of the four bedroom toilets. The sink backed up that night because the garbage disposal was broken. We found several electrical outlets that would not hold a plug. One even sparked. The pool appeared to be neglected, especially compared to the one next door where people were able to play in the water. We did not want to be complaining about everything so decided to concentrate on getting the plumbing issues fixed. We texted the next day when the office was open, leaving a message about our biggest concern - the toilets. We received a text back that plumbers rarely came out on Sunday, but they would be in touch Monday, if not. It was noted their inspection report had deemed the plumbing system operating correctly. In the meantime, one toilet upstairs overflowed to the point it flooded the bathroom and leaked a large amount of dirty toilet water through the ceiling into the kitchen. ( You could tell looking at the ceiling this problem had occurred before ). On Monday morning we got a text from the management company ( Low Country Rentals or iTrip Vacations ), saying that Low Tide Plumbing would be at the house between 11:00 and 1:00 PM, so some of us went back to meet them. We never heard from them so sent two texts over several hours back to the management company and did not hear anything back from them until that evening. Finally, we got a text saying Superior Plumbing would be there by 8:15 PM. We scrambled back and a courteous young man did his best to solve the problems using different machines. After indicating he had a lot more to do and had two toilets pulled out with no problems solved, we excused him for the night ( 11:00 PM ). The next day we were notified Low Tide Plumbing would be there just before noon, so once again, we left what we were doing and met with them. The information they were given from the previous plumber some how got mixed up so it's a good thing we were there to show them what had happened. They fixed the problems pretty quickly, mentioning the disposal was dead, and the management company sent out a cleaning person to freshen the bathrooms and kitchen, which we were grateful for. So three and one half days into our stay, that major headache finally was resolved. We did not bother to complain about anything else and we had a good time in the house. After our stay we asked the management company for an appropriate refund ( in our minds maybe 1/2 off ) for all of the inconveniences. We did not hear back for several days, so we talked with VRBO about it several times. They were sympathetic, but explained the owner and management company were the ones who charged us, and would be responsible for any refund. Itrip vacations said the same thing. VRBO did say they would review the case and might penalize them for neglect ( but who knows ). Since we could not get a response, VRBO left three messages to the management company to get them to communicate. Then, suddenly, Matt Williams responded to us by email saying he had been on vacation and did not like our tone. He defended their actions and declared they would not be held hostage to us waiting to write a review based what they decided to do. He was defensive about everything we brought up, putting it back on us. There were several things he did not know about that we just lived with, so that could have all been worked out in a phone conversation we never were able to have. It turns out we were never able to leave a review on VRBO because a brief one sentence message to the management company had been put on there early on and we were not allowed to put on our review ! We will now try to work with the BBB for a more favorable outcome and share this story with other potential renters using any of the above mentioned parties, including VRBO. read more

The property manager used his undisclosed security system to spy on us (more on this below). The property owner threatened to evict us because we arrived with our service animal in training. Discrimination against someone with a legitimate service animal is illegal. He then proceeded, without our consent, to charge our credit card ($125) for the service animal. Charging anything additional for a service animal is against the law. My husband is an optometrist and he trains Seeing Eye dogs for the blind. We had to file a credit card charge back to recoup the illegal charge. VIDEO SURVEILLANCE Any form of surveillance at a rental is illegal when it is used for anything other than security issues. Simply put, the property manager used his security system to spy on us without any notice, and without our consent. He contacted us during our stay to tell us that he saw our service dog on video, and that "pets" were not allowed. We were shocked that he was using video/audio to spy on us. This was not a matter of security at all; and all members of our party feel grossly violated. We are afraid of what footage of our children may be out there in the world now (which includes our teenage son and daughter, and younger children). We have a very poor opinion of the property manager's ethics and knowledge of rental laws. We feel this opinion is warranted given the circumstances. As you can tell we are very upset; but, we are a very reasonable and understanding family. If you don't mind having your right to privacy abused, and/or discrimination against disability laws, the home itself was nice. We planned on spending significantly more time at the home, but we just did not feel comfortable or safe living in the space provided. VRBO ghosted us, and would not even give us replies. Due to their lack of response, we are in contact with the Internet service provider, the security system provider, and local law enforcement. We attempted to contact the homeowner, but they will not reply either. All of this has been a tremendous amount of homework that we did not anticipate with renting a home for a few days. Because this company manages more than this home, I am fearful that the above practices are more than likely occurring at all of the homes they manage. This is the only negative review we have ever had to leave for a vacation rental. UPDATE: the property manager states that the above surveillance claims are unfounded. Luckily, we have his admission of guilt in writing. Again, a poor display of ethics: 6/15/21 email from Property manager: "The camera was installed by the owners a few weeks ago after an issue at the home. It was an oversight on our part to not update the listing at the time." This company has set a precedent that crime is allowed (federal and local cybercrime, disability discrimination), customer safety is not a priority, and punishment for crime is nonexistent. They do not care about your rights to privacy, nor do they care about how you feel when they violate you. They are in direct violation of their own policies. Disgusting. read more

My family arrived at "The Artist's House" (https://www.vrbo.com/408060) in Kissimmee, Florida with great anticipation for our 13 day rental, walked in, and immediately found live and dead roaches in the house (under the master bed, in the dining area, in the living room, under the sink, in the cabinets; as well as significant amounts of roach droppings within the cabinets, silverware drawers, pots&pans, etc). I have photos. We immediately contacted the owner and the property management company who sent over an exterminator. The exterminator sprayed, said it would take from 1-3 days for the pesticide to take effect, and advised that he will be contacting the property management to make a return visit to spray again because it was so bad. We found more roaches moving about during the night on the kitchen countertop. Impossible for this infestation to be a surprise to owner or management because we have photos of 5+ roach baits in plain view on the kitchen floor and one that was ON the kitchen counter next to the coffee maker. Gross. And there were two empty cans of roach spray under the infested sink. The next morning, we vacated the house, we provided photos via VRBO's message board, and we asked for the owner to cancel our contract and have our rental refunded. The owner agreed to do both, in writing, via VRBO message board. VRBO Customer Service called me to say don't worry and they'll work with the owner to refund my money. Then a week went by. Then the owner posted on VRBO that there were "a few cockroaches in one side of the kitchen and nowhere else in the house", that they sent "a pest control guy and not an exterminator" to do a treatment, and that this was not an infestation. She refunded me ONE night's rent (out of the 13!) and ignored my pleas to refund the remainder of our rental. Shame on this greedy owner for trying to keep my $3,300, and shame on the property management company for a half-ass job of pest control. Anything to keep the money coming in, right?! After three weeks of me calling VRBO every other day and having them say that my refund request case is "with the Billing department" and no update is available, VRBO called me. They refunded me their service fee of $346.00, advised me that they do not control the balance of the funds to refund me directly and that they cannot force the Owner to refund me, and they recommended I contact my credit card company to file a charge back claim to refund of the remainder of my payment. I did, and my credit card sided with me. This is an insane amount of trouble for having stayed one night in a roach house. It took a long time for VRBO to try to help, but at least they tried. SHAME ON THIS GREEDY PROPERTY OWNER. Don't put full trust in property reviews as VRBO did not publish mine (same exact objective language used above). read more

"I had a very disappointing experience with VRBO and the host, Careen Santos. I booked a vacation rental property for my mother's surprise 60th birthday celebration on February 12th, which was fully paid for. Before confirming my reservation, the host Careen Santos asked me what the reason for my stay was and the age of every person staying at her home. After 24 hours, the reservation was confirmed. Over six weeks later on May 30th, I received a message from the host stating that she would like me to cancel the reservation because the price I reserved the property under was not accurate. I immediately contacted VRBO to explain the situation, as family members were flying in for the celebration. VRBO informed me that it was the host's responsibility to ensure the accurate pricing was listed and that the host had the right to cancel the reservation or increase the price at any point in time. I was shocked that someone could increase the price six weeks after the reservation was confirmed just because they realized they had listed the price inaccurately. VRBO also informed me that they would not cover the difference, and the host would be penalized for poor business practices if they did not honor the reservation or at least discount the difference. I was disappointed with the lack of customer service and care from both VRBO and the host. Despite multiple attempts to speak with management on more than five separate occasions, I was told that my case would be elevated, and I would receive a call. However, there has been no resolution to date. The host, Careen Santos, currently has her property listed at $497 per night. It is clear that she canceled my reservation so she could make a few hundred dollars more over a three-night stay. I am disgusted with how Careen Santos and VRBO handled this situation. It is evident that they do not care about their customers or their reservations. I will never book with VRBO again, and I caution others to be careful when booking with this host or this company. If you are looking for a vacation rental, there are plenty of other options available that value their customers and their reservations." read more

Last April (April 22nd 2020) I went online and booked a nice Oregon beach house for my family to get away from the crazy COVID chaos. VRBO accepted my payment and confirmed my booking for May 2020. They told me I would get an email confirmation from Evolve Vacation Rentals. We were excited to get out of Portland and go somewhere to enjoy ourselves while the Covid tyrannical lockdowns took place by our idiot Governor Kate Brown were in place. Little did we know, she shut down all vacation rentals as well. A little while after, I received a cancellation notice from Evolve Vacation Rentals and instead of crediting my money back, both VRBP kept their $43 service fee and Evolve Vacation rentals kept the other $409. In the email it said they issued a credit that I could use on a later date. Being a normal understanding human, I had no idea that Kate Brown would lock the whole state down for a year!!! Well, I decided that I wanted my money back this month and we were going to just go to Arizona where there isn't the restrictions like Oregon. Evolve and VRBO were unwilling to refund my money even though I basically loaned them money for about a year! The one representative did slip up and say that they could call the home owner and see if they would be willing to refund my money but VRBO and Evolve would not. I do not agree with this and I think is us completely unacceptable. I have disputed this charge with American Express and will definitely take them to court if this is not resolved. This is not good business and I will never use VRBO or Evolve Vacation Rentals ever again in the future. Do not be scammed. They will accept our money but there is no guarantee they will not immediately cancel your reservation, keep your money and issue you a useless credit. read more

READ THIS!!!!!! Do not use VRBO!! STEPHANIE WHITMORE Is hands down one of the most immature, unprofessional, and simply one of the most disrespectful property managers I have ever dealt with in the past 7 years this dealing with discrimination to me and my family. We had our family member finally come back from serving our country to celebrate with him and his family flying in to see him. She had neighbors take pictures of us coming in invading our privacy taking notes of us and discriminating us as soon as we arrived. Most of my family are people of color and having these neighbors continued to watch us and doing everything in their power to kick us out of the place without violating a single rule made us angry and ultimately feel that we are some sort of threat to the neighborhood!! Stephanie Whitmore stated "I will give you a full refund just please leave I can't look bad to the neighbors" this is what set us off! I have a total of 5 of us who confirm and are witnesses to what Stephanie Whitmore has done and said to us. The hundreds of dollars we had to pay for hotels after being threatened to leave the premises or cops would be called I am telling you NEVER RENT WITH Stephanie Whitmore!! She even kept the money for the place after staying for 2 hours against VRBO's rules and only sent half back stating "you violated some sort of policy I'm refunding half out of kindness. I don't have the money to pay you you're going to have to deal with Vrbo" NEVER RENT WITH STEPHANIE WHITMORE AND FEEL THE DISCRIMINATION AND UTTER HUMILIATION THAT WE FELT!! She should be fired this place should not be listed!! Stand up with us during these times of discrimination and utter disappointment we went through! read more

Palm Springs - Exact same horrible nightmare as other postings. They canceled on us less then 36 hours before. This after hours of document filling out (with the City of Palm Springs and with Vacation Palm Springs) Everything turned in - paid in full - then notified by VBRO at 9:00 PM that we were canceled. Then they tried to up sell me another property but for more money (bait and switch) At Vacation Palm Springs (they have about 4-5 different phone numbers) No one answers the phone - then another company pops up (I guess a parent company) booking was for June 12- 15. Someone did finally call me back - after begging them to send me something in written form stating they were canceling us (didn't want them claiming "no show") I at least received an email. The anxiety, panic, helplessness and ruined vacation- the disappointment of my grown children who were flying in and had requested PTO from their work. I'm still battling - hoping I will get my money back - VBRO said their portion of the refund would take 4-6 weeks. (OMG) Do you know what would happen to me if I canceled this last minute on them? Yep - large percentage penalty would happen. When its them cancelling - nothing - for anything they ruined (food & other items already purchased and packed for the trip) no compensation for anything - they flat out don't care - it's a scam and I'm still panicking that I won't see my $2,000 refunded. FYI - I've never ever written a review - however this was so criminal that I just had to warn others. Who in the City Palm Springs or the California Realtor's board polices this company? There are so many victims with the same story on the internet! WOW read more

My friends and I booked a very special trip on VRBO. We booked it early March, within 30 days. We were excited to find this beautiful property listed and opted to not get insurance 1) we had no intentions of cancelling and 2) unless we cancelled the day we bought, we were out the money either way. Then about two weeks later, COVID-19 news became overwhelming. Our kids were asked to stay home and there was a panic worldwide. Sadly, we cancelled our flights and reach out to the property to cancel in light of the tragic events. Their response was that the Encinitas area wasn't heavily impacted and since we did not get insurance and are inside the 30 day cancellation policy, they can't refund us the money. After explaining our situation, they denied us a refund. Less than a week later we received an email stating due to current events, they were crediting 50% of our trip on the account to use later. Fifty percent of our hard earned money, gone, just like that. During a worldwide crisis where people, including some of the ladies I was traveling with, lost their jobs, are confined to their homes, losing loved ones, they kept 50% of our money. We have decided to cut our losses but felt the need to warn people about this company! Out of pure principle, we will never use that credit and will never, ever book with this company. I was a first time VRBO customer and last. If they can't manage the type of people posting on their site than they don't deserve my business. We would have been happy for a cancellation and credit to use at a later date. Instead they kept 50% of our money in the blink of an eye. Shameful! read more

My experience with Vrbo has been completely unacceptable and has exposed serious flaws in both their booking system and customer service practices. Three days before my scheduled Memorial Day vacation, my reservation was abruptly canceled due to a "double booking" error allegedly caused by VRBO's platform. A failure of this magnitude should never occur, especially for customers who booked and paid in full well in advance. What is even more concerning is VRBO's handling of the aftermath. Despite this issue being entirely caused by their system and/or host management failures, I was informed that my refund could take up to 14 days to process. In the meantime, I am expected to somehow secure alternative accommodations during one of the busiest travel weekends of the year while VRBO continues holding my money hostage. Property prices have dramatically increased due to the short notice, and because VRBO refuses to immediately release my funds, I am now facing the possibility of canceling my vacation altogether. The lack of urgency, accountability, and customer protection is astounding. A company of this size should have safeguards in place to prevent double bookings and should absolutely prioritize immediate refunds when their errors directly impact customers. Instead, customers are left financially burdened, stressed, and without meaningful support. This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I have encountered, and I will seriously reconsider ever using VRBO again. read more

Absolutely terrible experience with Vrbo. I booked a reservation that had the option to cancel for a 100% refund within a certain date. I canceled within this date, it submitted as a "Property request change" with the request being to cancel and it even made me submit to the owner why I was requesting to cancel. The owner left it pending so I would lose out on my 100% refund. When I reached out to Vrbo they refused to honor this as well, telling me because I submitted as a "request to change to cancellation" instead of hitting a different "cancellation" button, they wouldn't honor their own rules. This is ridiculous when I have screen shots and emails proving I had requested to cancel. Vrbo is screwing me over based solely on nitpicky details. They shouldn't offer two ways to cancel and then only allow one. You can tell they're just trying to do anything to keep extra money at the traveler's expense. Also, when I resubmitted for at least a partial refund, they tried to cut me out of almost $200 and not give me my full partial refund - I had to submit a case with them AGAIN and ask for the full amount of the partial refund to be given to me. They're really sneaky and untrustworthy. I shouldn't have been surprised when I looked up the reviews online and they were all negative. They are underhanded and don't know how to treat people. read more

I booked a house in Florida from VRBO and you know how they state they are always there for you - IT IS NOT TRUE! We were only there for 4 days, I was in constant contact with the owner, with issues - NOT how I wanted to spend my vacation! Get back, go onto VRBO to Stay Neighborly to complete a complaint form, not even 24 hours later I get an email saying my complaint was closed - no explanation - nothing - AND over three weeks later, my bad rating was mysteriously deleted - pretty sure they claim that can NEVER happen. SO I decided to call customer service - all I was asking for was a $200 refund on an over $2000 rental because of all of the things that were not disclosed and all the extra money we had to put out for things they said they provided and did not - know what customer service told me?? Nope cannot help you because you are already home - so they would rather me spend my whole vacation on the phone and not being with my family - never will they get my money again....We always book here for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, vacations - it really is a shame. read more

I have been on VRBO since 1995. VRBO has turned into the worst possible platform to put vacation rentals on due to the greed and incompetence of the people that bought the company and that run the company now. Expedia is a greedy company that. In the early days of the Internet tried to take over travel agency businesses and failed. They strive to monopolize whatever they get into and then rip everybody off. I believe they are kiting money because of how they run their business and run it into the ground. Recently, I had a guest cancel, and VRBO has been unable to do the refund or the cancellation for the past five days. I believe the RPO is floating money to cover for their failing business due to their idiotic and deceitful business practices. Whatever they did their website has disrupted everything. This is the worst company I deal with in my life and have ever. It really hurts me to say that because they have a monopoly on the vacation rentals in it's what I do for a living VRBO sucks b***s.... read more

We rented an apartment in Paris for a week. When we got there we were astonished to find out that there had been no mention in the description that it was a 5 floor walk up on stairs so narrow and steep that it was challenging and dangerous to walk up . It was impossible to to get our luggage past the second floor . There were no handrails and for anyone to think this was acceptable is has never been there. We contacted Vrb immediately and there response was we will" look into it". I took a video of us trying to walk up( I am athletic) and sent it to them. We have sent several follow up e mails but haven't heard back which is the reason for this review. We are out almost $3,000 , had to find a hotel for the week. I understand that not everything is under there control but their lack of response to this is not acceptable. Fortunately the rest of our trip was fantastic and We are in a position that getting ripped off doesn't have a big impact. read more

Atrocious customer service. You can be 100% guaranteed a ruined trip and long hold times if you happen to have the misfortune of an owner cancelling your booking last minute. I had planned an 11 day stay and prepaid in full but 4 days prior to arrival the host cancels because the house is pending sale. Almost impossible to reach a live person to rebook while understandably in crisis mode. Then to add insult to injury there is no financial compensation for any money you are out of pocket on non-refundable trip related incidentals. Who is going to trust a company that just left you vacation homeless? NOTE THAT VRBO POLICY IS THAT AN OWNER CAN CANCEL AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON. They have zero sympathy for your plight. Its Russian Roulette if your place will be available by the time your trip rolls around. AirBnb at least dings the owner financially so they are discouraged from cancelling. read more

Stranded for Family Reunion: Do not use Resort Rental Pros or VRBO - They are both unreliable and unprofessional. Resort Rental Pros managed a property through VRBO that we booked for a vacation in North Myrtle Beach for a family reunion 2.5 months ahead of time. We checked in with the rental company a few times and they said all was well. Less than 3 days prior to our vacation, they reported that they couldn't locate the host and had nothing to offer us. They have not yet refunded us our money and our vacation plans are a mess. Our only choice is to cut our vacation time in half and to pay twice as much at a hotel. Our other bad experience with VRBO was with Vacay Home Connect. They misrepresented a property, listing it as on a private beach, with an intracoastal view. It was on a canal off the intracoastal and a 10 minute drive to the beach. read more

Be aware that hosts can cancel your stay at any time, with no compensation or reparations given to renters. Even if you receive a booking confirmation, the host can cancel on you for any reason. DO NOT book the rest of your trip with the comfort in knowing that you will have a place to stay. This happened to us with a beach house in Manasquan - the reservation was confirmed, we made our plans, and then the host canceled it, saying that we did not meet the minimum number of nights and there would be zero flexibility (even though the error was on their part). There were no properties left in the area to book, and we had to redo our entire vacation plan. This was our first time booking with VRBO and we were very unhappy with the experience. read more

VRBO is nothing but a face for fraudulent transactions. They allow owners to be listed as a PREMIER PARTENER and how they offer a "Book with confidence GURANTEE". Do not fall for it. If a property has a no refund policy, it doesn't matter about the contract you sign, any of the emails you exchange through the site, they owner's can change a policy or a contract at any time no matter what and then NOT REFUND YOUR MONEY. VRBO will do nothing about it. They will literally only read from their manual and say, "please refer to the property's refund policy". They will try to contact the owner, but if the owner never responds they wash their hands of it. read more

I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the service provided during our recent reservation. The booking was unexpectedly canceled on the day of arrival, leaving us without accommodations. When we attempted to resolve the issue, the host was unresponsive and unwilling to assist. Additionally, our calls were ignored unless we used a new number, which is unacceptable customer service practice. This experience has led us to decide that we will no longer use your services for personal or company purposes. A business that does not prioritize customer care and well-being is not one we can support. read more

What a waste of time and money. This company is wildly under regulated and someone needs to bring up a class action lawsuit for the amount of issues that arise when booking with VRBO. False advertisement, mental distress, financial distress, breaking legal binding contracts, putting customers in harms way, etc... We have been harassed out of our VRBO by the owners and have spoken with the cops in the area to see what legal actions we can take against the owner... where was VRBO in this? No where to be found. I would not recommend booking through them. Listen to the review warnings!! read more

Don't use Vrbo - ever. They are allowing hosts to participate in theft by keeping full payments for stays the government will not allow us to make because of this global pandemic. Not only are they not intervening and trying to negotiate reasonable outcomes in the forms of partial refunds and/or future credits - they're ghosting. No contact from Vrbo or any host. It's a scam. We are out $1,621. Other home share company Air B&B came right out with a promise to refund 100% for COVID-19 related cancellations. Vrbo should be ashamed. read more
