I've been here several times, and they just get more condescending each time. I booked an appointment online. I had to confirm that appointment via text which I did. The appointment even showed up when I checked in (ten minutes early to avoid anyone waiting for me). After all of that, I was told very rudely "You made an appointment online. There's no appointment unless we confirm." I mentioned that I did get a text asking me to confirm the appointment which I confirmed and the appointment showed up when I logged into the tablet upon arrival. No cutting, no filing, no cleaning up around her nails and no lotion applied. And they had the nerve to charge full price and lie about what services were given. Pros - lots of stations, relaxing, Cons -dont let the men do your pedi they are too rough, tore my heels up with the heel scrubber, pushed too hard with utensils. Attached is picture of my heel - I told him he was being to rough and he laughed. As you can see this is not where a "callous" would be - its not the bottom of my foot. For about 5 months, I have gone for gel nails and pedicure monthly. The past 3 gel nail services have lasted 7 days then they start peeling. Never have I ever had this experience before at any nail salon. VSL has a text Salon rating and review system, I politely gave them comments asking for them to rectify the problem as I hoped to remain a customer. No reply, they don't care or maybe it's a language barrier. And another experience you will have is the nail techs talking to each "non stop." It's really annoying and rude. Good location but the price is a bit higher than most places I've gone to. I tried the dip for the first time. While it looks decent I felt it was rushed! The guy didn't even give me a manicure prior which is different than other nail shops. They mentioned I had to pay an additional service for a manicure with the nail service. For my nails and my toes I paid $75. I think it's high especially since after 1 week the design peeled off and toes were already chipping. I've never had issues with chipped toe polish. When I visit my hometown, the only nail spa I attend is VSL. Why? Because they normally always perform well & I enjoy their customer service. Not too happy that after a week from getting a deluxe pedi & my first full acrylic set from them that 1 nail has already broken while I was putting a pillow inside the pillow case & my big toe nail halfway chipped off as well. I visited this establishment on 4/1/2021. It was my third visit. In my previous visits, I received excellent nail service. I expected this time to be no different. The nail service I needed was a fill-in with design (nail art). The receptionist took my temperature and directed me over to the polish colors to select for my nails. No problems so far, right? Let us continue. A male nail technician proceeds to come over to help me choose a color, which in a way, made me feel rushed. Still, I was able to select the colors I had in mind before arriving at this business. He started on my nails and I immediately felt a sense of 'haste' in his wanting to get finished with my nails. The old saying 'haste makes waste' is not an understatement in this so-called nail technician's work. Because of his hasty drilling, I was cut around the cuticle area on two of my nails and began to bleed. He pats my nails with a towel to try and 'remove' the blood, but my nail slowly bleeds still, and he still continues to do my nails. He apologizes and continues to do my nails without providing any care to the injured areas. Only then does he proceed to slow down with the drilling and be extra careful around my cuticles. I do not have any blood-borne illnesses or anything, but I hope this guy had since enough to dispose of any equipment he used on me and sterilize whatever equipment that could not be thrown away. I proceeded to go thoroughly wash my hands with soap and water, at which point the bleeding had ceased. When I returned to the table, he asked if I used soap to wash my hands and I said 'yes.' Of course I used soap!!! You just cut me with the drill!!! I sensed attitude coming from him when I told him that I used soap in that he said that using soap could mess up the polishing. I knew that was a lie because I was not getting the dip powder for polish (using soap can possibly mess up the dipping process). I was getting regular gel polish. Fast forward, he begins polishing my nails and I specifically asked for a leopard animal print design on one of my nails, which he deliberately ignored and did what the f&%$ he wanted!!! Needless to say, the tip I left was subpar, and I am a person big on tipping when a service is being provided to you! I should not have left anything at all, but that is not the type of person I am. Long story short, I will not be returning here. Businesses need to respect ALL customers and understand that without customers, you have no business!!! I used to come here a lot pre Covid and never had any issues. I went into April 27th for a mani/pedi with shellac polish. The business is in need a good dusting and some of the furniture is wobbly. The young lady also plucked my skin and I did bleed for a little during my manicure. After paying over $100 for the service I went home and my coffin nails were crooked on several of my nails. I didn't have time to go back in and fix them prior to my graduation May 1st. Two of my nails ended up breaking May 3rd and by the 6th, I took the remainder of them off. I tried giving VSL another chance TWICE. Both times I was met with terrible attitudes and service. I'm thinking they saw my review on here and got mad- idk and frankly I don't care. There are SO MANY NAIL PLACES. I don't know everyone else's reasons for getting your nails done, but I go because I like having pretty nails and it's my time to relax. It certainly costs enough that I think you deserve what you're paying for. The attitudes of these employees- specifically Jessie- gives me anxiety and makes me so mad. I will never ever go back. I even had a lady approach me at Kroger in East Memphis with a coupon for the new one on Mendenhall. As soon as I saw VSL I handed it back to her and said, NOPE. I really wanted to like this place and chalk it up to a bad day, but it's awful. Also a person who did my nails recently told us that they hear this about VSL all the time. I'm not surprised. I've gone to this nail shop a couple of times in the past, they always did a good job. I don't have a problem with how they did my nails. However, they charged me for services that I did not get. They charged me 45 dollars for full set with shellac, which I did get. They then charged me 5 dollars for long nails. However, I got super short nails bc I'm required to for my job. This is the second time they've done this. The first time they charged me an extra 5 dollars was when he charged me for soaking off my acrylic nails and all he did was just pop them off when originally I had just asked for a fill. I will not be back. I was going to try the second location instead. However, from the reviews I've read they're just as bad as the original location so I'll definitely just find a new place to go. Got my nails done on 10/31. Today is 11/7 and every one on my nails came off in the shower while washing my nails. I got A full set with AMBRE. I spent 70 dollars on them and they looked phenomenal. I warned the nail tech i had just removed a full set myself earlier that day and there was glue residue on my nails. She DID NOT prep my nails before gluing new tips on. She didn't even ask me to wash my hands or use a file. When asking her if she could use the drill and prep my nails, she spoke over me and told me she knew best. I do not treat myself to getting nails done very often, but went with my grandmother and mother as a treat. I am very disappointed and feel this should be a concern to other clients. read more

Unprofessional, rude, disrespectful and greedy! I visited the VSL in Carre Four Mall in Memphis TN for the first time last week. Got what I thought was a great manicure and Shellac pedicure. Within four days of my Shellac manicure, my nail polish on both hands cracked and chipped. I returned to the salon within a week after the manicure. I explained to the employee that my nails were chipping within a week of a Shellac manicure. My cuticles were not trimmed well. The woman constantly interrupted me, telling me that my nails were all peeling. She said they had no control over my nails, and that they don't know my nails. She cut me off as I tried to explain to her that I had been on vacation, had not done strenuous work, and had not had previous problems with nails peeling. I tried to tell her that I had never had this problem with a Shellac manicure in the past. She continued to be rude and cut me off and blame me for the problem. She even stated that she didn't know that I was telling her the truth about not having done hard work with my nails. I insisted that this was unacceptable. She agreed to "fix" them without redoing the manicure. This woman used the drill machine to shave some of the polish off some of my nails, and repainted them with polish only. But on most of the nails, she repainted ONLY the chipped spots on my nails. I said to her that she needed to redo the Shellac application so that the polish would stick. She said that that was all she would do to "fix" my nails. This was the rudest, most disrespectful, unprofessional service that I have ever received at a nail salon! Definitely wouldn't recommend. The whole experience was bad from start to finish when I finally got up and left before the services I requested were done. Went in on a recent weekend. There were 3 people waiting in the waiting area, but no hostess, so I had no idea if they were waiting on a service, waiting for their nails to dry, if I should pick out a color, or how long the wait would be. I signed in and went to wall of colors, assuming it's like any other nail salon. A man who works there was also at the wall, seemingly just looking at the colors, but never acknowledged me and kept moving in front of me, no matter which direction I moved. I go to the waiting area and within 5 minutes, one of the other women waiting gets up to leave. I am eventually taken back to a pedicure chair with lukewarm water. I was never asked if the temperature was okay and had to ask for it to be warmed up. I had dip powder on my fingers and requested shellac, but had to tell the nail tech several times that's what I wanted. He seemed confused that I didn't want dip again. I then had to request for my nails to be soaked so the dip would be off in time for the manicure/shellac. My pedicure wasn't the worst I've had, but definitely not the best- tech asked if I wanted my nails cut or filed and when I asked for cut, proceeded to file them until I asked again for them to be cut (then he acted like it was a problem I had), barely a massage, not the greatest paint job. Once it was finished, he takes me over to the manicure chairs and tells me "the boss" will be there shortly. A little while later, I'm told by someone else "the boss" will be there soon. Someone then brings me the dip colors, but doesn't stay long enough for me to ask why. "The boss" comes over and asks if I've chosen my dip color. Well, no, because I'm not getting dip. I explain that I wanted shellac and already had the color picked out, but didn't know where it was. He proceeds to huff and start screaming at his employees in their native language. I'm definitely uncomfortable at this point, but he brings a bowl of water for me to soak my nails in, slams it down on the table, yanks my hands into it, then storms off. Done. 100% done. I start to get up and tell the woman who comes over to find out why I'm gathering my things that I will just pay for the pedicure and soak off. She starts asking why and I look up to realize I've been there over 1.5 hours. 1.5 hours of wasted time, to be treated poorly, witness "the boss" treat his employees terribly, and then, for my toenail polish to chip and wear away within 2 days. So let me tell you about my VSL Nail Spa at Germantown experience. Let's start by saying they're not cheap!! So 05/19 I got a dip manicure $48 and today 05/27 (8 days later) two of the dipped nails have popped off like press ons and some are lifting ready to pop off. So, I go to the salon to get it corrected. The owner says she will fix it no problem. She then asked what color? I told her I didn't pick the color, one of her nail techs did because I wanted the dip to match my toes (and they didn't) So she grab some random color and says "I fix it come on". After we sat down I asked her is this the same color? She said "idk but it may be close we find out". I then proceeded to ask for a partial refund because I paid too much to have mixed match nails. And I explained, dip powder shouldn't pop off within a week and you're charging $50. She said "no, when you go to a restaurant and you don't like the food you still have to pay". First of all ma'am. I've already paid you, I don't mind paying for the services I've received especially if the quality is good. The new location was the worst the technician cut my cuticle to the point of bleeding, she couldn't see where the nail polish was on the nails and where it wasn't so the manager took over well I think they used the wrong top and bottom coats because it have been 5 days and they've started peeling. I tried to go back and give this place a fair chance. Twice. Both times I got the woman named Jessie. I think Jessie may have seen a review I wrote from a bad experience I had in March. I still came back. I hoped to have a better experience and I would have definitely said so. I can't think of any other reason as to why this woman would be so blatantly rude to me, but not to anyone else. The first time with her she was rude and argumentative and quite rough and rushed with my nails. This last time she only did my toes, but she glared at me, did a poor rushed job, and literally pointed in the direction of the dryers. She made no effort to smile, help, or speak. Then the manicurist applied the dip to my nail bed so she had to use the drill on my cuticles to remove the excessive dipping color. I expressed my disappointment when checking out. I went to this salon out of desperation because my Nail girl was booked & my second choice is closed for renovations. Upon arrival I was concerned., They asked me to use a touch screen iPad to check in. Was hesitant to touch the screen based on the prints all over it but did. They didn't ask any screening questions and didn't take temperatures. I watched each person come through and touch that iPad to check in and not a cleaning agent near or behind the counter to disinfect it. I was shown where to sit for my toe polish change. There was something on the foot part that looked bad so I asked the girl if she could wipe it down. She rubbed it with the towel, then laid the towel down for me to put my feet on!!! I asked her to please disinfect it and she just showed me to another chair. As I started to look around it looked very unclean. The smell of the salon also bothered me considering I had a mask and could still smell the odor. The "DIP" for my nails took so long, and I had two places she had gotten the gel and dip on my finger and picked it off with her BARE nail enough to expose raw skin. In the daylight, the nails looked horrible. The music selection was crude with explicit language which was shocking not because the age of the workers but rather the disrespect for their customers who may not appreciate listening to that during a spa treatment they are paying g good Money for. Not once in the 1.5hrs I was there did one employee wipe anything down. Not once did I see THEM wash their hands. I'm quite sure they'd fail any CDC/health department inspection for Covid.
