Went to a different auto mechanic and he told me my car could not get fixed, recommending I go to a Honda dealership which would be extremely costly. I received a referral from Vtec and came here as a last attempt to get my car fixed. Called to get a quote and Benjamin told me to bring my car in and he would take a look at it for a couple of days. Diagnostic fee and labor costs were reasonable and Benjamin walked me through the entire process from finding replacement parts to explaining the issue and updating me. He texted me photos of what needed to be fixed and called me to pick up the car when it was ready. Benjamin was honest, knowledgeable, and quick. I asked them if they could check out my check engine light on my 2008 Honda Fit and they said that they would for about $125 and after they found the problem they told me what was wrong with it and what we could do and gave us a couple options, we chose to let them handle replacing the engine and other pieces apart of the engine and within a week my car was up a running like it was brand new! I wanna add they also gave us 3 month warranty in case anything happens to the car we can go back to have them fix it back! And they also always kept us updated with what was going on! New to the area and glad I found Ben's shop. Super helpful and really fair pricing. Came here twice for routine maintenance and great customer service. Had a minor problem with starting the car sometimes and he was able to educate me on all the possible problems and solutions. Benjamin did a awesome and fast job on my girlfriends 2016 Honda Accord EX-L (V6)! She needed a pretty big job done! She got her 100k mile service which included Timing Belt! Water Pump! Tensioner! Spark plugs! Valve cover gasket! And a Valve adjustment! I wouldn't just trust this job with anyone! I could easily tell of Benjamin's knowledge of the V6 platform! The owner/mechanic Benjamin that runs this place was either ripping me off or he doesn't know what he is doing. I took my car in for some a/c work which they did but then he tells me he scanned my carb with his very expensive snap-on scanner and said I had to hard codes 1 was a p0420 catalytic converter and the other was some kind of a evap code. I said oh really then paid him for the a/c work. I went home and plugged in my $2.00 scanner I only found 1 code p1389 02 sensor. So i replaced the 02 sensor and drove the car for a few days to clear all the monitors no check engine light at all just like before. So thats the last time I ever went to that shop and no I donnor recommend Vtec read more

I've been coming to Benjamin since 2007 with my 2002 Honda Civic and now with my 2012 CR-V which he takes very good care of for me. His pricing is reasonable although not on the cheap side. And most important, he is very honest and reliable. He wouldn't ask you to replace anything if you don't need to. And he would explain different options in detail when there's a problem to fix. His goal is to help his customers keep their car maintenance as economic and hassle free as possible. One time I had an oil change at another mechanics because it was closer to home, that owner tried to scam me to replace the timing belt. I'm glad I double checked with Ben first and he told me there was no timing belt in my 2012 but a chain which should last forever. He also gives his customers good advice, like he asked me to keep every single invoice for every maintenance including oil change, that way in the future my car can be sold at a better price because potential buyers will see the car has been taken good care of. A lot of costumers just walk in but I'd always give him a call first to see how long is the wait. read more

I have my Honda Odyssey sliding door (manual) problem due to the broken of one set of roller assembly. This Vtec boss seems not met such problem before and obveriously overcharged me about $100. The parts (roller assembly) may only cost $20 to $30, and he told me his people needs a whole day for labor... However such fix only cost 3 to 4 hours maxium, because I was there seeing the technician doing the job very very slowly. The boss wants to chage me about $400. After bargaining, ended with $360 cash, still $100 over, I would say. read more

The driver side mirror on my 2015 Odyssey had an unfortunate experience with a parking structure column. Was referred to VTEC (and the owner? Ben) by a relative. He ordered the correct side mirror via VIN number from Honda and replaced it in less than an hour. He even took out some of the scratches on the driver side door. I was drawn to this place because of its name...VTEC. They claim to be Honda specialist and even have the certification but I suspect that they half assed it on my car. They made my car worse then when I brought it in. I had a vibration problem and ask for my throttle body to be cleaned. They "cleaned" it and now it shakes worse than ever. They also told me that my front and rear engine mounts were broken and needed to be repaired. Parts and 2 hour labor estimated out to be $450. At the time I said "no thanks" and paid for the throttle body "cleaning". I then took my car to my friend's garage for a second opinion. He told me that my front mount was broken but my rear mount was perfectly alright. After I bought a replacement engine mount on Ebay, he installed it for me. I ended up paying $60 for the part and got a free installation thanks to my friend. A few months later my friend came to me with a vibration problem. We have the exact same car. His rear engine mount was broken and he also bought one on ebay for $60. Out of curiosity I called this place and asked about an installation of the mount. I know the rear mount is more expensive to install because its larger than the other mounts. I told the mechanic I got the part already and asked about the labor. He told me that it would be 3 hour labor. They normally charge $80/hr labor. So let me get this straight...4 months ago, if i would've taken your advice about the "two broken engine mounts"(front and rear) and brought the parts from you for and outrageous price...it would've taken you only 2 hours parts and labor(price $450) but now if I have one part(rear) that needed to install it would take 3 hours!? Today I went to V-Tec for a front end alignment on my 2004 Civic. This is AFTER I had Bear Alignment in La Puente - MISS IT UP. I explained to Ben the owner of my concern- care would drift right once I let the steering wheel go. He mentioned the price and I explained the issue I had with Bear Alignment in La Puente used 'a measuring' tap and just adjusted the front wheels only. Ben mentioned that his alignment machine 'measures' all 4 wheels electronically..That is what I wanted to hear. After an hour plus, my Civic steered straight! Ben mentioned ( he provided a print) that the right front was pointed right a little- thus caused the drifting to right...On top of that, due to the 4 wheel alignment machine- he also mentioned that the left rear was pointed our too.... All is good now. It's great to deal with honest folks....I say that because I usually work on my own cars...so I know if they are telling me B/S or not. I highly recommend this place. read more
