This café is located inside Santa Lucia trains station in Venice. After shopping desperately for a moisturising cream in 'L'Occitane, I walked passed this busy café. Desperate because it was winter and it had been 3 days my face was without any moisturising cream. It was just a matter of time before my skin started to peel off and bleed like a zombie!
I was about to board my train to Verona that afternoon. Thought it would be quicker to buy some bread for lunch to eat on the train.
The café was very busy. There were no free seats and customers were waiting to be served. There was no proper queue either! As soon as a staff caught my eye, I quickly ordered my food. Phew! It did not take long for the staff to notice a hungry (and angry) face!
The bread was a little hard. The ham was dry (mignon Bologna €2). The smoked salmon (mignon Portofino €2.50) was better than the ham. I was hungry so was munching away on the journey. The prices were reasonable as I felt everything in Venice was overpriced.
It occurred to me that the café's business was good not because the food was exceptionally delicious but because there was no competition in the train station, yet. read more
