I am very disappointed with the way my insurance claim has been handled. my claim # 017742319 and i have been a loyal customer for long time . I filed my claim on March 21 after my vehicle was damaged in an accident. The frame of my vehicle was damaged and needs to be replaced. Although the repair was approved, the process has now taken more than four months, and I have been told it could take over six months because the replacement frame has still not arrived. No one can tell me when the part will be available. My insurance company has already spent more than $20,000 on repairs, yet they still refuse to declare my vehicle a total loss. Instead, I have been left waiting indefinitely with no clear timeline or solution. Every time I contact my insurance company, the representatives only give me excuses instead of real answers or solutions. I understand that parts can be delayed, but after four months, I expect my insurance company to do more than simply ask me to keep waiting. I spoke With Isabel Bolanos , Randy Navarro and Gabriel Romero, and nobody did any good For me. During this entire time, I have continued paying my monthly insurance premium for a vehicle that has been sitting in the repair shop. I am also still making my monthly lease payments on a vehicle that I have not been able to drive. I expected my insurance company to support me during a difficult situation, but instead I have experienced poor communication, a lack of accountability, and no meaningful effort to resolve my claim. This has been an extremely frustrating experience, and I cannot recommend this company based on how my claim has been handled. I am asking my insurance company to provide a fair and reasonable resolution. If my vehicle cannot be repaired within a reasonable timeframe due to unavailable parts, they should seriously reconsider declaring it a total loss instead of leaving me without my vehicle for months while I continue paying for it. read more

Wawanesa - cheap rates, but DO NOT DARE make a claim There's a phrase that says "you get what you pay for". Pretty much is the case here with Wawanesa from my experience with a recent claim. With Wawanesa, while you save about 5-10% against other insurance companies, you'd think you'd receive slightly worse service from Wawanesa - no! You get way way way less service. I would have been better off paying the extra 5% elsewhere and saving the aggravation that Wawanesa causes the minute god forbid I actually tried to use the insurance service that I paid into for years. After years of paying $8,000 in auto insurance with Wawanesa, I finally used it for a no-fault accident where I was hit in the rear by a truck changing into my lane. The car was not drivable, so I had the car repaired at a Wawanesa approved body shop and paid the $2,500 deductible. The other party's insurance accepted liability and just needed a subrogation demand letter from Wawanesa so that I could be refunded the deductible I had paid. I left dozens of messages with Wawanesa to prepare the subrogation demand letter - no action. Then, I finally received a message from Wawanesa, but it said the claim was closed as I had already had my car repaired, and there was no further action needed from Wawanesa. But I was still out of pocket $2,500! This was so aggravating - just one letter and the situation is resolved but Wawanesa couldn't even do something as simple as that. Worse, they don't even acknowledge any of your messages! At least they could say "hey idiot customer, we note your message and we're pretending to work on it". I spoke to the other party's insurance Company multiple times (they were actually responsive), and each time they said they hadn't heard from Wawanesa and couldn't move forward until this subrogation demand letter is received. I escalated the situation to a Wawanesa supervisor who then looked over the call notes. He said Wawanesa had unsuccessfully contacted the other insurance company multiple times - this was such a blatant lie. I had no issue whatsoever getting in touch with the other insurance Company when I called or emailed them. It's so aggravating when another party's insurance Company is so responsive while the one you pay so much money to is completely radio silent. read more

I have a Lexus that was side swiped. The other person's insurance is covering the cost of the repairs. The car is currently at the dealer to get repaired. Wawanesa insisted that they will only use after market parts on the car and wants me to pay the difference for a legitimate Lexus part even though they will be reimbursed by the other insurance company. I have had Wawanesa for more than 15 years. However, today I will be searching for another insurance carrier. If I could give them zero stars, I absolutely would. I guess losing a longterm customer is more important than covering a $90 part. By looking at these reviews it should make sense for them to make the effort in keeping the business that they already have. 6/8/2026 A person named Blake J replied to my review. BEWARE everybody. Wawanesa does not have this person working for them. They said this is an outside hired social media company. This person does not have access to anything within Wawanesa. I've been a customer for our auto ins for years, I had left them in the early 2000's and came back in 2022, they are a bit pricey but I was ok with that since they offer the higher limits. Whelp the most awful Thing happened 12/17/25, I was in a horrible accident & my truck was totaled! I gave Wawanesa grace since it was coming up on the Christmas holiday but once 2 weeks passed and no response from adjusters I started to worry as the rental coverage is only for 30 days & I had no vehicle that was being repaired! Well my Worst nightmare came true! The total loss adjuster assigned to us was dragging her feet, never contacted my finance company even though she lied to me on several occasions that she had!! I she had told me over the phone on a Thursday that I would have a check the following Monday & that day came & was gone & it took another 10 days to actually get our funds due us to go replace my vehicle! I would call my finance company daily to see if they've given the payoff to my Ins company & for 2 weeks was told they have not been contacted!! Of course my rental ran out, Wawanesa refused to extend even though THEIR incompetent adjuster didn't follow thru & I literally was doing all the leg work to get my payout to purchase a new vehicle! I ended up paying out of pocket a total of 10 days at $50 a day, thank goodness the rental provider extended the rate to me or I'd be out more money due to Wawanesa's failure to do their job! As of today our loan check to our finance company has still not been recd, it's been since 01/24. So not only did Wawanesa force me to incur over $500 in charges for a rental, my credit is also taking a hit !! I am so disappointed & have left msg for managers with no return call or explanation! I am shocked at Wawanesa & so upset that we pay our ins policy, mind you it's not cheap in CA & with the way things are in the world with ins right now & then to be treated with such arrogance as if we are asking for a favor!! If I could take my business elsewhere right now I would but again the state of our ins premiums in CA it's not easy to move to another ins provider with the same coverages. I feel stuck & not happy at all! I would never recommend Wawanesa ever again!! Wawanesa is good until you use it. I had wawanesa for years before ever filing a claim. I got into a minor fender bender, where there was virtually no damage to either vehicle. This was my first claim with the company in about four years of using their services and they dropped me. Not to mention I find out four months down the road when signing up with GEICO that wawanesa made an injury payout in that fender bender on my behalf without disclosing anything to me. I have a clear video of the other party stating that nobody was hurt at the scene. Additionally, the other party denied my offer to seek medical attention on the scene. I submitted this video as evidence to wawanesa and they still went ahead and made an injury payout on my behalf without disclosure. In conclusion, you're better off paying a little more money to get a quality insurance company that's actually going to give you the coverage you need and not pay unnecessary payouts. I encourage anybody that had the same experience with Wauna to reach out to me on Yelp so that we can begin to arrange for a civil class action and put this to rest once and for all. It's time that this company stops collecting free paychecks and gets held accountable. Canceled my membership without informing me, i literally drove three months without insurance till I found out

Got into an accident where someone hit me from the back, I'm not at fault. on April 17th I drop off my car to be fixed and start with rental. on the 29th I get a voicemail from a towing company that my car is totaled and they want verbal approval from me to release the car, I get a panic attack cause no one is keeping me on the loop, the last update was from my bodyshop saying the claim adjuster is paying a visit. I call insurance, Benjamin, no response. I call his manager, she calls back in an hour. explains the situation. Monday they had the estimate, tuesday night they made arrangements and Wednesday morning I get a call from Towing company, but through all this no one decides to give me an update. So I say I will not release my car until I talk to the total claim department to see if I can get a second opinion. 2 days later I'm being pushed by benjamin and towing company to move the car to god know what parking lot they want to send it to, and finally give me the number of Shanice. I CALL the total claims department. They say I can get a second opinion, so I tow out of pocket to another shop. Monday Afternoon I get a call that the car is not totaled anymore and they need to figure out the final billing with the previous body shop to take my car back to claims department and start fixing it. Now I have a ticking timeline of May 6th(2 days) to return my rental. I get on a call with Shanice on Thursday, where she said she's waiting for her supervisors approval. I call back on Friday morning, no response. I call yesterday morning, no response. I'm talking to voicemails. Now I have 3 voicemails I'm talking to. Shanice, Yetti(her supervisor), and Sharon(yetti's back up) I have lost my rental, my car is in a shop waiting to start on repair, I'm having daily anxiety attacks since I got the shocking voicemail from the towing company on April 29Th. And because I went with Uninsured motorist, I have also paid $1,000 deductible. Lack of communication, lack of response, speaking to voicemail. And no result! read more

Worst insurance company ever! My neighbor who is insured by Wawanesa backed into my car. Claim was done through them and what a nightmare. First, had to take my car for assessment that's already taking time off work to go get it checked but it had to be taken to one of their affiliated shops. Even though I was told I could take it to any shop I was discouraged from doing so because if it turned out the repairs were actually higher the shop would have to go back and forth with the insurance and the repairs could potentially not be approved and then I would end up with a bill myself. Then I asked about a rental. I was told they would arrange the rental and that they wouldn't pay for the days my car seats at the shop they would only cover once my car is being repaired. Like I want to be carless or I'm responsible for how the shop is managed. But, okay, I arranged with the shop a day to make sure the rental would be covered. The insurance rep said that I just had to give them the shop's name, phone number, and date and time of drop off. I go drop off my car, there's no rental, there's no reservation. And no one to help. I called the insurance the rep is off already, they transferred me to a "supervisor" who is also off so there is no one who can help. IM STRANDED! I am 71 yrs old. I pay Wawanesa for roadside assistance. My car keys are attached to my purse to not lose them. unbeknownst to me, they broke from my purse and were locked inside my car. After coming from shopping with my small service dog, I noticed the keys were in the car. I used my cell to call for assistance. I had to make several calls to them, with one woman hanging up on me, that my cell phone battery finally died, My dog and I were waiting 2 hours for help standing in the sun in front of my car, in the heat, thirsty with no water, feeling faint and dizzy. I received no help. There was another tow truck for an RV with a serious problem. They saw me and my poor dog waiting in the sun all that time and opened my door for me. When I called the company I was told that my insurance had been cancelled on April 6, 2025. Wawanesa will get you the lowest priced auto insurance in California and they have always been fair with us on claims. You just have 1 point or less on your record. If your car is totaled they will go by dealer comparables which will generally get you a better payout than blue book. read more

Wow Wawanesa has really gone down the toilet. I have been with them in some capacity since I got my drivers license at 16 years old and I never thought I'd be left short after a loss but I certainly am experiencing that. I guess it's a good wake up call that it's on the auto side rather than the home side. I know now to start shopping around. So this is what happened. I was rear ended by an unlicensed, uninsured, drunk driver. I have paid into "uninsured motorist" so if something like this happens I should be able to fix or replace my car. Well that didn't happen, it hasn't even came close and wawanesa direct deposited money in my account without my approval and salvage titled my car and I can't replace what I had with what they gave me, not even close. I'm almost $10,000 short, they refuse to explain anything or fix anything. They expressly initially told me that the condition of my car didn't matter then a manager got involved and gave me like an extra $500, big let down. So the problem is they keep comparing my car to cars with a HUGE defect. Some cars have visors that break, some cars have paint that peels, some have engines that fail and my car the dash and door panels turn sticky, that was a factory defect. I had those replaced as some people might have their car repainted if their paint peels. So, Wawanesa though is paid me the amount of a vehicle with the defective interior panels, they said it was personal preference to get those items fixed. It doesn't matter, my car pre accident did not have defective dash and door panels, to be made whole, a replacement car MUST have replaced dash and door panels, if they want to use that as an example, to make that car like mine, then I need the cost to do that repair or they need to find examples that have had this repair done. Wawanesa has all bust washed their hands of me. So I am without a car, without money to fix my car, and without money to replace my car and they have walked away from me. Could you imagine if something happened to your home and they priced out some broken appliances and gave you $100 because they can find broken appliance for $100 and then they walked away. That's not making you whole, there are no real means to show them, or truly make your case, you are just at their mercy and left incomplete. Again, I'm glad I realized this with my car, I can't imagine how badly they would treat me with my house which I also have insured with them. I think it's time to look for another insurance company, I'm their customer and they treat me this way. I used to recommend wawanesa to everyone, not anymore. Good Luck! read more

This business deserves NO stars! Maybe it's the particular agent who worked on my case. His lack of knowledge and judgement was beyond unprofessional and unethical! The said agent's name is Jose S. His client backed into the rear right side of my car in the parking lot 6/19/24. The damage to his car was on the rear left of his bumper while my car's damage was on the rear passenger side by rear right tire. He said they were willing to take 60% of fault. EXCUSE ME! It's either at fault or no fault! How could it be a percentage of fault? How was I at 40% fault when his client clearly hit my car backing up to the side of my car! I had already backed all the way out and stopped when his car hit mine! How could I have hit his car (for the 40% of the fault he claimed that I was responsible) with the side of my car? Any experienced adjuster would have clearly understood how the impact happened. I invited Jose to come inspect my car in person and he refused! It's a shame that Wawanesa hired him, someone who is incompetent and has no common sense! Thank GOD my own insurance told me not to worry and waived my deductible. They will be taking Wawanesa to arbitration on my behalf! DO NOT do business with this company! A company who has no ethics or integrity will come back to bite you sooner or late! read more

Unbelievable! My rating just went from beyond a 5 to negative 0 if there was the option. Personally covered by Wawanesa for 40 yrs. (cars and condos) ; my family covered by Wawanesa for longer. Wawanesa always at my side, prompt professionals, experts, couldn't say enough. I recommended them to everyone. I purchased the most coverage and at the price, I wanted only a $300 deductible. Over the years, insured were both my higher performing vehicles and a second 2001, original owner, low mileage, Honda Accord. I had expensive incidents with my higher end vehicles. Wawanesa covered it (you are considered at fault for stationary object collision, center median, flood, pothole damages, hit and run, vandalism). My rates rose to approx. 4k every 6mo.; 8k/yr. for both vehicles. Keep in mind the coverage for a 2001 Honda can only be for bodily inj. and liability which amounted to approx. $600/yr. of the total policy expense with all applicable discounts. Wawanesa covered me well, I paid it, I understood. This year, I did not renew but needed to simply re-open a policy ONLY on the 2001 Honda, no other vehicle and was quoted a little more than $3000/yr!, Explanation for increase from $600 to $3000/yr. "no longer a second vehicle on the policy"; it is driven 10 mi. round trip to work; less than 10k mi/yr.! A week later I received a letter from Wawanesa informing me that for any questions regarding the rate increase, contact Lexis Nexis for a report, send a letter to Wawanesa for details. I went elsewhere, another nationwide carrier for same coverage, same vehicle, 1/2 cost. Always be cognizant of what you verbalize on those recorded lines. Honesty, following the law always prevails. Less may be more, don't get too comfortable when providing your story to Advisers and Adjusters. Keep evaluating the value of your long-term loyalty. read more
