This company was hired by my next-door neighbor this summer to paint the exterior of his house. We share a common access space, so they needed to come into my yard to do the adjacent side. They were extremely sloppy, dripped paint over my shrubbery. stomped on all my lilies, and broke off one of the neighbors drainpipes and just threw it into are bush to hide it. Did not repair, so all rain just gushes into my garden now. They set their ladders up over my stone retaining wall and knocked the wall down. Never came to us to apologize or even mention they had done it. It was a low mortarless stonewall built by a Vermonter in the tradition way and now it is just a pile of rocks. They even left the rocks strewn in the middle of the walkway. We were ready for landscaper to fill area behind wall with top soil and ground cover but had to delay. As has been mentioned by another reviewer, they also did a very poor painting job on my neighbors' house. They did not do any prep work (Washing, priming) and painted right over rotten corner boards. Only when he called them back, did they attempt to fix that. The crew was not only sloppy but lazy (Spent most time when the boss wasn't here on their cellphones using very foul language. Only when they noticed I was on my porch did they stop dropping "F-bombs" every few minutes. DO NOT HIRE THES PEOPLE. If there was a lower rating than 1 Star, I would give them that. read more

I was visiting my elderly mother in Plymouth while this company was painting the exterior of the house. I was there for the duration of the job. I am a landlord with 16 properties down in Florida so I know quality work. This team was first rate. They showed up when they said they were going to show up, they worked until the job was finished, and they did a great job. They even did minor carpentry repairs and that was unexpected. I was fooled by the positive reviews online and selected Carty Painting. One star is too positive of a rating to give this company. The crew cut corners every step of the way and did not complete the project. Please review the pictures before you do business with this company. They did not wash the exterior of my house before painting nor did they prime. The pictures speak for themselves. This is what my house looks like after 3 weeks since Carty painted. Be warned and find another painter. Paul told me that prep was the most important part of painting a house. I went with the most expensive quote because of all of the prep that he said he was going to do. He did not even wash the sides of my house. His quote included scraping and priming which were not done. They even used cheaper wood trim instead of the PVC he quoted. When I called him out on it, he blew up and accused me of not paying even though he refused to take a deposit. I didn't mind the crew smoking, however they did not have the decency to pick up and left cigarette butts everywhere. They left a dozen nails in my driveway and didn't bother to clean up. However, the real icing on the cake is that they didn't put drop clothes on my composite deck. The decking is ruined. They then had the gall to blame the stains on the deck itself and not the fact that they tried to remove the stains with goof-off which contains butane and xylene. When I asked Paul for a plan to correct these issues, he blew up and accused me of not wanting to pay him and then stormed off the job. read more

Ryan did an excellent job painting the exterior of my house. The painting was top notch, no drip marks, edges were clean, and the prep was thorough with sanding. On top of that he always checked to make sure his vehicle was out of the way, and asked about turning on the radio while he was painting. At one point my wife saw a drop of paint on a piece of glass and before she could start trying to wipe it away he swooped down and said "That's not how we do things, I"m so sorry" and cleaned it up right away. read more

This summer is the second time I have used Carty Painting and, again, they did not disappoint. Last year they painted the exterior of my house. Every day they were on time and had a large enough crew to get the job done faster than I expected. Paul helped to make sure the colors were spot on and I love the how house looks. They took so much care on my exterior wood window sashes that they look like new. My shutters were in such rough condition I thought I needed new ones, but their team made those look like new, too. This year, I had them paint my renovated bathroom, and a long hallway of doors, window sills and trim that had been nicked and worn over the past 70 years. We needed the exterior clapboards which are only on one side of my 2 story garrison colonial cleaned, scraped and painted along with the family room extension.
