Is not really a full restaurant. It's basically a bar and a pool table and nice seating areas if you are just looking to unwind. I would not suggest children or a big group. I went with a group after work, and it was just good enough for our small group and the fact that we were all adults. I'll start off by saying that I was visiting Atlanta for a conference for a few days and am not very familiar with the area. My date and I were looking for a decent bar to relax over a few drinks. We were shocked to realize that many bars that Monday night were either closed or at capacity (not enough workers!!!) so we were quite frustrated. I decided to check out W XYZ Bar in the Aloft hotel since I really like the W XYZ Bar in downtown Buffalo. However, the W XYZ Bar in Atlanta is not exactly like the one in Buffalo. The W XYZ Bar in downtown Buffalo is quite large and definitely upscale. I assumed most W XYZ's would appear the same. When we walked into this Aloft in Atlanta, the bar was in the room next to the lobby, but some tables were blocking the entrance so we had to go around some like a maze. There were some tables, all empty, and just one bartender was at the bar, though she was welcoming and kind. We decided to stick around and sat down at the bar (only a few of us were there). They definitely have a full bar, which is a huge plus, and we did not need to wait around for service. I had some bourbon and my date had a couple of cocktail drinks which she was happy with. We ended up mingling with the bartender and a couple of other people at the bar for quite a bit, so it turned out to be a fun night. Was I impressed with this W XYZ? Nope, but it's a decent place to go for a drink on a weeknight if you aren't in the mood to venture too far from your hotel near the convention center. read more

Tasty drinks and bartender was sweet.

I arrived at the hotel just after happy hour, and after a long day of travel, all I wanted was to drop off my luggage and get a drink. The good thing is, Yelp was offering a discount of 50% off a cocktail with the purchase of a small bite. I went to the bar and mentioned the Yelp offer to the bartender. She directed me to the front desk because she allegedly couldn't over-ride the price of a cocktail to honor the offer. I went to the front desk, and the agent there had no clue what I was talking about. He actually admitted that he had never even heard of Yelp. That, I don't understand. However, he did track down a manager and came back with a voucher for a free drink. That is what bumped this review from one star to two stars. I took the voucher to the bar and ordered a French 75 and the vegetable spring rolls, on the advice of the bartender. I waited about 5 minutes for my drink and another 20 minutes for the egg rolls. While waiting on the egg rolls, I took a couple sips of the drink, and it was weak. It tasted like there was no alcohol whatsoever. So I went back to the bartender and asked for a shot of Grand Marnier to add to the drink. I thought it would be the saving grace for the cocktail, but it did little to improve the taste. When the egg rolls came, the bartender asked me to open the box and taste one to see if I liked them. After waiting 25 minutes for the food, I smiled and said the taste was fine, even though it really wasn't. There were 8 tiny vegetable egg rolls in the box with two plastic containers of what I think was sweet and sour sauce, without lids. The order looked like something that was purchased in the frozen food section of a grocery store and heated in a toaster oven. But I didn't have the energy to return the food and wait on an order of something else. I force-fed myself the food, just so I wouldn't go to sleep hungry, and I didn't even finish half of the drink. Needless to say, I did not return to the bar for the remainder of my trip. read more

Food is a little better than average bar food but menu is sparse to put it mildly. They used to have a more comprehensive menu in the past. read more

Aloft Atlanta opened in the spring, bringing along with it a super-slick, urban chic bar. Think cement, metal chairs, modern couches, a lovely gas fireplace, and a large-screen television. I imagine that they'll need that fireplace come winter, not because Atlanta winters are harsh, but just because it gives off a very cool feel. I personally like a cozier atmosphere, but then, you know what you're getting when you go to an Aloft. We sat at the bar and were immediately assisted by our lovely bartender for the evening, Kameel. He told us about the drink specials, and I was instantaneously bamboozled by the second: watermelon, blueberries, vodka, and a splash of lemonade. I can't remember the name, but it should've been called summer in a glass! It was really light and delicious, and pink! How can you go wrong there? Kameel poured tastes of the drink into shot glasses for my friends, which was a really nice touch. They chose to go with their go-to drinks instead, but it was nice that they could taste it to see if that's what they wanted. I was surprised by the number of people who were in and out of the bar during the hour and a half that we were there. We work just across the street, so I think this will likely become our go-to happy hour spot (even though that doesn't happen all that often), just because it's so convenient to our parking lots. read more

I stayed here a couple of nights for a music festival and it was a pretty awesome stay! My bartender Ben was great - he gave me great recommendations, and even answered questions I had outside of just the bar area. I had the "spiced and stormy" and it was everything I thought it would be! The quesadilla was cooked perfectly (they even hand delivered it to me), so the next time I am in Atlanta I will definitely stay here again, and visit the W XYZ bar! read more

FYI, if you're looking forward to using yelps check to redeem half off a cocktail and free small bite, don't waste your time. The bartenders/ employees at the restaurant claimed to have never seen it before and proceeded to "ask the manager" to get approval. We ordered in the meantime while we waited for a response. He never said anything and when I followed up he said he's still waiting to hear from a manager. Keep in mind, they close at 11 but started wrapping up at 9:30. Still no response from the manager. Super unprofessional but we got tired of waiting. When we ordered our food, it took eons to come, and when it finally did, it was wrong. They mixed up our order with another customers. So they took it back, rearranged the order with the other customers, and gave us our food back... with scraps of the other customers food. They also made us eat out of to go boxes even though they were open for another hour. Also drinks were subpar, the bartender must have been new because he kept using our menus for reference. Unprofessional overall. I rarely leave reviews as you can see by my profile but they really annoyed me so I figured I'd share. Don't waste your time. read more
