I was not impressed today, I wanted to take a brewery tour and have Lunch, but the tour was only on weekends and my cheese burger was so filled with grease that I had to tip it to drain it. Also had to use a lot of napkins and it was not made to order, I ordered without tomatoes and other stuff in it, I had to take off the onions, tomatoes and lettuce and only ate half of a full burger. Huge beer hall and beer garden with 20ish beers on tap at any given time. Wachusett's beers aren't particularly noteworthy, but are consistently pretty good no matter what style you choose. There is plenty of seating and the beers are mostly $5, which is nice. They also have food, which isn't amazing, but it covers the beer hall basics. Pretzels, burgers, fried things, etc. I've had the fried pickles, loaded fries, and Buffalo cauliflower. Of the three, the pickles might be my favorite, probably from the sheer simplicity. The loaded fries come with beer cheese, scallions, and pulled pork. The cheese is the saving grace here as the fries themselves are undercooked and the pork isn't particularly juicy, but taken together, this dish works pretty well. The cauliflower is breaded and fried, which sounds great, but the breading doesn't soak up the Buffalo sauce as well as cauliflower on its own would so I felt this dish was a little lackluster. Overall, Wachusett is a good, affordable experience with a wide range of decent/good beer and snacks should you get hungry. read more

I wasn't terribly impressed when I visited this brewery. I got there a few hours after it had opened that day and it seemed like no staff were around and it didn't really look set up. Subsequently, I couldn't really experience it the way I wanted to. I didn't know where anything was so I just grabbed a sampler pack (I wanted a growler. Wouldn't have mind having some good too). Staff didn't offer to help me despite me being the only customer at the business. It was on the way to a vacation I went on this summer. I probably won't go out of my way to return there. read more

This place is legit. I love all the beer and the taste room along with the always changing tap list. There beer is better than what it's rated and I really enjoy the entire environment along with the concept. They are always bettering the brewery and they are dog friendly. First time we went to Wachusett Brewery was back in 2008, when it was just a small little tap room where you had one beer after a tour on a Saturday. Flash forward to 2018, and my have things changed! It was absolutely wonderful to get back out here and check out the new brew yard. I love the fire pit that is going all year. It was great to bundle up and go sit by it with a fresh Wally IPA. The food seemed like standard fare based on one look at the menu, but we were wrong! It was fantastic, not your standard food at a brewery. I had the caprese grilled cheese which came with fries - it was excellent! Hubby had the standard burger which was just thick enough and cooked perfectly. The inside bar atmosphere is a 10. I love that the bar was made out of an old airstream trailer! Very cool. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a great chat with one of them about the upcoming changes and how much they love working there. Our experience this week will ensure that we won't wait another 10 years to return. We can't wait to go back! read more

Have been visiting regularly. While the service and beers and facilities are still great, the menu has shrunk significantly and the food options just aren't that great anymore. The food used to be gastropub level good. Their sandwiches had some variety, were always grilled well and came with options (fries, sweet potato fries, chips). Now, fries only. They used to make a pulled pork grilled cheese. Now your options are either pulled pork OR grilled cheese but the combo was awesome, now you can't get it. They have flatbreads but my one experience with one wasn't good. I will still visit for other reasons, but the decline in food options and quality is disappointing read more

Big facility with lots of thoughtful features. Helpful staff (Kyle in the sample room) that provides (unlimited?) samples of their delicious beer and cider. Outdoor fire pit, Cornhole, Jenga, billiards, shuffle board etc! And last but not least, great food! We had the ribs, dry rub wings and pastrami/bacon/chicken sandwich. All of it was delicious! I love coming here and getting our growlers filled. While we wait, we head on over to the brew yard to sip on a flight (maybe 2 ;-) ) and hang out by the fire pit or play shuffleboard. The atmosphere is very comfortable and enjoyable. I'm hoping their food game get's better because that was pretty sub-par and overpriced for what we got ($9 for a lukewarm sausage sub on stale bread and $11 for what tasted like fish stick tacos on cold tortillas, with an unripened avocado). If you're going for the Beer and hanging out with friends, great, you'll love it....if you're going to eat...stick with chicken fingers (hard to mess those up). read more

Well let me just start by saying that the beer is always great but, on this visit the food not so much. My wife and I have gone to the brewery on several occasions and I must say they had one of the best if not the best burgers I've ever had. On our last visit 8/29 the menu took a huge turn and in my opinion so did the food quality. Now only one burger is offered on the menu which is what my wife ordered. I myself had the brisket sandwich. The burger was very under cooked after noting in the request area medium well and the brisket was nothing great. The fries that were used in the past also changed. What use to be great fries are now boring same old same old fries. I'll no doubt continue purchasing there beer but, I think I'll get it at the liquor store and save myself a trip to Westminster for not so great food. Truly disappointed. read more

Easily my favorite brewery ever and they're growing even more. I'm so excited! Very easy to get access to growlers (even have a parking spot), and are very polite if you want to try some options. You can get large growlers (64oz I think), medium (32oz I think) and even large cans (24oz I think). The small restaurant is actually pretty good too, but it's a must-visit brewery if you're anywhere near by. read more

Setting - awesome. We sat outdoors, plenty of distance between tables. People - awesome. The host and servers were polite, helpful, friendly, and clearly working hard for all the guests there. Beer - awesome. Our group tried a variety of the brews and enjoyed them all. With their system, we texted our orders, and the beer appeared in about 2 minutes. Food - slooooowwwwww. Wow. Over 90 minutes for the food to appear. So we enjoyed the beer and then waited, and waited, and ordered some more beer, and waited and waited. When it came, it was good, but everything, even appetizers, appeared all at once. So the kitchen needs to pull itself together and then this place will be a five star destination. If all you want is to enjoy great beer, then I would highly recommend. read more

I cannot believe the five star ratings for this place. The brew is mediocre at best and is overpriced($7 for a twelve oz plastic cup) There is literally no atmosphere unless you enjoy camping, and the food that is served is from a canteen truck unless you are lucky enough to get their delicious frozen pizza. I would compare it to cat food on cardboard. Now, I have been all over this country and have lived in this area my entire life. I think this place is a disgrace to the area. I admire the owner for trying but this is bad. If you only care about socializing in a primitive setting with friends with no atmosphere whatsoever and don't come here thirsty or hungry, then this is the place for you. This place is a good spot to go and get a beer as well as some food. They have a food truck located right out in back of their beer garden. The staff is always friendly and helpful with recommendations. They have plenty of bar games to keep you occupied and the noise level is at an average where you can actually hear what your friends are saying. The decor is nice and modern feel. read more

Great rainy day activity. Free tour of the brewery and samples, obviously. To be honest, I was a little put off that the place didn't have the look and feel of the larger breweries (think Harpoon) and was actually located in what looked like a small office building. I suppose it adds to the local charm of the place but it definitely threw me at first. Actually, the whole theme of this place seemed to be making do with what you've got. Some of the casks were previously used to make Colgate toothpaste, the "compressor" (definitely not the right term) was an old vegetable processor, etc. The story of the inception certainly isn't lacking for local appeal (if you're from the area) and specialty brews like the Green Monsta add to the charm. While probably best known locally for their Blueberry Ale, there were 14 other beers to sample from! You can't beat their deal on the Wachusett Growler--a 1/2 gallon brown glass jug that will set you back $20 however for $6 they will fill your jug with a beer of your choosing and continue to refill it every time you bring it back for the same $6! Overall, I really enjoyed my afternoon here and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good brew and a good story. read more

Having had plenty of Wachusett beer, what made us finally make the trek to the brewery was the Strawberry White, a seasonal only available in the tap room or in the city at Tavern in the Square locations (which we are not super fans of). At first, we were worried. The tour guide put on a hilarious DVD of on of the brewers going through and explaining the processes and history of Wachusett.. The production of the DVD was painful, but the video ended up being pretty informative. To our relief, a real tour did follow and our tour guide was quick, knowledgeable and very sweet. The tasting comes in two forms, free for a tasting of a few beers or $2 for a tasting glass that you keep and a half sample of them all if you want. We took the $2 sample and tried all of the offerings, we were pleased as expected. In total, there were 9 beers available (all Ales). The Larry (also only available at the tap room and at Publick House in Brookline) was my personal favorite, but with so many offerings everyone on our tour liked a different beer best. One star deducted because of the growler prices. Being about an hour away, having to purchase a growler is a little much. Wachusett does not participate in deposits, so once you pay the price ($18.50) you own the growler. We still purchased one, but most breweries will only fill their own growlers so we may not be able to get much use of it. read more

I came here with my husband for a beer and a burger- the beer line was slow moving but not terrible. The food line was insane, we waited 1.5hrs for a dry cheeseburger. The food line took 45 minutes and waiting for the food took another 45 minutes.... the burger was so dry, neither of us ate more than half of them. They really need to figure out how to stay on top of food orders, they were busy but not THAT busy. Beer is fine- this review is more for the food. Needless to say, we won't be back. read more

We tried this place out in the late summer. Very cool place-inside decor it pretty cool. They have shuffle board and darts. We didn't try any of the food cause we already ate but we did like that they offer food more than a pretzel. We all had flights and there are so many beers to choose from we all tried different ones. There is also a tasting room where the really nice lady let us try some beer out before ordering. Pickle beer was surprisingly good!They also have outdoor fire places that we keep meaning to go try out now that it's chilly out. A new hang out bar for us right down the street, woo! read more

The brewery just opened the "brew yard" behind the building. They have an old airstream trailer that they converted into a bar. There is a food truck hosted by Sean McNally who is the owner of Blueprint and Tavern on the Square, which, if not familiar with McNally's means that your food will be delicious.
