And eat. And this was a great fair, and fairgrounds. Easy access off the highway. Easy parking, big lot with plenty of guides. Big venue, clean, with a big building up front for displays and vendors (and bathrooms.) ATM in there, and I think I saw one somewhere else on the grounds. Loads of fair food, rides, games, etc. Nice grandstand for the tractor pulls, etc. $10 for me to get in, free for Baby K (I think 6 and under are free.) Free parking. Loads of good, unhealthy stuff to eat. Everyone was friendly. No one was acting foolish. The park itself is big, and has a little playground and some basketball courts, on the way in. Probably other attractions too, but of course we were there for the fair, and the food.

Lots of paved areas, bathrooms in each of the main buildings. (Plus an ATM) Fairgrounds is a work in progress, so during fair some exhibits are under tents, but more buildings are coming. Very easy access from US35 to Infirmary Road. Beautiful grounds surround with Arthur O. Fisher park. If you haven't been to the new site, find a show to attend. You'll be very impressed.

There is also a Junior Ranger program you can participate in. I did expect there to be a bit more to the museum, but I suppose a lot of what they could cover was already covered at the other interpretive site. The memorial itself has an amazing view of the prairie field (and surrounding area) and there is a great deal of interpretive signage throughout the area. The parking lot is to the side of the building and there seems to be an ample amount of space. A great place to visit and learn just a little more about the Wright Brothers.

The park has a small free museum but they were not open yet when we were there. I went with Kayla and the kids, Saige & Deacon. Saige enjoyed checking out the signs and reading them. The park is very nice with several picnic tables but no grills. Lots of parking. Easy to find with GPS or just watch for the signs to the memorial.

More of a fly-in for area pilots and aviation enthusiasts. Not huge like the Dayton airshow or anything. Very accessible, very family-friendly. Plenty of nearby parking, with even a few shade trees. Food trucks, ice cream, etc. Crafts for kids like compressed-air rocket making. Pedal planes. And biplane rides! Sign up early, there's a wait. Then look around, at the planes on display, the large car show, etc., while you wait for your call. Friendly people. No big crowds. Plenty of porta-potties. Shade. We had a blast. Baby K wanted to go up in a plane, so we did. $80 adults, $60 kids, for a pretty long ride. Cheaper than the WACO fly-in I think. She also loved making rockets. Lots of dogs there too, just a nice atmosphere all around. Some of the feel of Oshkosh, without the immensity.

You can use the booklet to get stamps at each location and if you visit eight different sites, (four are required) you get an adorable aviation bear! They also have occasional special events throughout the year. There is a map and descriptions of each location. I knew there was a lot to see aviation related in the area, but I had no idea just how many cool sites there were. Definitely pick up the trail map (even if you don't plan on trying to earn the bear) so you can get a fuller picture of the available locations.

Aviation Trail is a non-profit organization that has partnered with the National Park Service to…read moreoffer a passport of aviation-related historical and educational sites centered around the Dayton area, as well as a museum, the Parachute Museum. The Parachute Museum is located on the second floor of the Wright Dunbar Interpretive Center in the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park, while the passport can be picked up at many of the 17 participating sites (which includes Wright Dunbar Interpretive Center). The passport: this is a brochure that provides an overview of the 17 sites and has a page where you can get each site stamped as you visit. We actually picked up ours at the Huffman Prairie Visitors Center and went from there. It was fun to explore the different sites, which included both well known sites like the National Museum of the US Air Force, to smaller locations. While the majority are in Dayton, as one might anticipate, there are several others in the greater Ohio area. The museum: We admittedly did not know too much about parachutes before visiting the museum. It's a nice one room space that has a lot of information, displays, and a couple of interactive exhibits to see how parachutes work. They also have a very fun photo opportunity where you can pretend to be parachuting. For the museum, there is a parking lot available behind the center.

Went to this wonderful example of early American farming while in Ohio visiting friends. The barn…read moreis comprised of two square pens made of hand-hewn boards from trees, it is an interesting thing to see. Not being from Ohio, it was interesting to see and learn about the history odd the state as told through the Johnston family, who lived at and operated the farm from the early to late 1800's. The farmhouse was built in 1812, and added into shortly thereafter so to have both public and private areas. John Johnston was an Indian agent, and at most times had tribal representatives living in the land there. The spring house is still operating, the spring runs well and is smells so fresh! The canal system was especially interesting to me, it was started to move freight and goods from Ohio to other markets. Unfortunately the railways were more successful in the long run. However, you can take a short ride an a portion if the canal system that is intact on the property. Great way to learn about our heritage while enjoying the Johnston farm.

You could be here for hours and still not see every single thing. Great interactive elements for children and lots of parking outside. Plus it's free! That made it even better! Incredible if you have a few hours and want to see how we evolved to the modern military plane!

This hall of fame is located inside the mammoth United States Air Force Museum. It is easy to find…read moreand only takes a few minutes to walk to from the entrance. For those participating in the aviation trail, it is also a stop where you can get a stamp. (so two stamps within the same building)! This exhibit isn't huge, but much like most museums, you can spend a lot of time here or just breeze through. There are some interactive exhibits the kids (or kids at hear) will enjoy. The information plaques make it easy to read and learn about the aviation all stars and it is laid out in a way that the space is easy to navigate. This is a great place to stop if you want to take a break from looking at planes and taking some time to focus on the people that made those planes.
