I've been working with Wadsworth Glass as a homeowner for several weeks now and I'm tired of being gaslit. You'll notice that most of their positive reviews are for people living in homes. Yet, somehow despite clearly showing an expertise in just residential homes, they are the preferred supplier selected for the condo buildings of Gateview. In the rest of my review I will explain i. why they are liars, and ii. why they deserved to be fined for non-OSHA complaint practices. My windows are over 50 years old. They have taken a beating from both the sun and salt water. Despite the frames being made of aluminium, the oceanic environment has been harsh enough to corrode the frames. On one of my frames, the corrosion is so bad that the frame has lost structural integrity and has bent out of shape. On the rest of the frames, the corrosion is so bad that the frame can no longer seal against the outer elements and constantly leak in cold air. My apartment is constantly like an ice box. Despite having an electric bill (the heaters in my unit are all electric) that is double compared to my building average, AND have never performed a leak test, Wadsworth employees claim that they visually verified that my windows seal and do not leak an abnormal amount of wind. This is gaslight attempt #1. The other issue with my windows is that they are also harboring mold growth. This is especially bad because with the wind (whether the windows are open or closed) the mold spores are spread through the apartment. Because of this, the ppm of mold in the air is so high that even with multiple air purifiers, I have developed pulmonary mycosis. Even if I clean the windows, the mold returns because it's living in the broken window seals. This mold is so obvious that if I take a picture and show it to ChatGPT, even it can immediately identify that there is mold growing on my windows. Despite all of this, Wadsworth claims that my windows are fine and do not need to be replaced. This is gaslight attempt #2. I've tried to contact several attorney's in the bay and because this is dealing with an HOA, they don't want to touch this case! If you're an attorney and want to help in this case, please reach out. Imagine having this company's employees come to your home, see the mold, acknowledge it is there, see the corrosion, see that none of the windows form a proper seal, yet still recommend to both your and your building management that the windows are fine. The other point I will bring up is their non-OSHA compliant practices. For the other apartments in my building, which they deem are bad enough to be replaced, they do not use a hanging platform to replace these floor to ceiling windows. Instead, they have in house strapped together a harness which they will drill into concrete ceilings with 60 bolts and then hang on the side of the building as they try to remove the windows. Besides the harness being non-OSHA complainant, the 60 massive holes they drill compromise the integrity of the thin concrete floors of the building. Furthermore, when they patch it up, they do not use concrete again and just use some plaster-of-paris. How do I know? Because of the units they have replaced, they have caused more damage to them by introducing new issues afterwards. We went to Wadsworth Glass after purchasing a sliding door and then being burned by a large chain store with an orange logo... U can guess who... Wadsworth was the complete opposite! They were very helpful and prompt and addressed all our concerns. They also looked out for us. For instance, the first door we ordered from them arrived but had a scratch on it. Wadsworth did not want to sell us a door with any issues so they promptly notified me, sent back the door and went to a higher quality manufacturer and didn't charge us more! Someone put a rock through my window, I know who it was, my neighbors know who it was, my coworkers know who it was, but because I don't want another rock through my window, I have chosen not to review his business. These guys came in during a Marie Kondo styled cleaning that started and lasted much longer than expected which means that this happened at a horrible time and I'm totally embarrassed. However, they came in, did the work and were totally great about it. The cleaned up the broken glass, installed a new door and I was able to go to my evening job with bells on. *Masks not worn by any employees inside* I just picked up a pane of glass from here today and have purchased them from them before and have been fairly happy with the pricing and the product. When I first called to inquire about a quote, I didn't get a call back for maybe a week. I then emailed this week and got a response the next day with quotes. The glass was ready the next day and they even cut it down further for me right away when I brought it right back because there was a miscommunication about the size and I realized it was too wide when I got home. The only thing I'm bothered by, is that even though there's a sign outside their door that says customers are required to wear a mask to enter, literally no one in there was wearing one. I was surprised to see the woman in the office turn around from finishing a call at her desk without a mask and no attempt to put one on once she saw me there. I had called before going over there to ask if they had curbside pickup, but the receptionist told me no I have to come in. Because I have asthma and family members with immune issues, I try to do curbside pickup wherever I can. However, she didn't ask for a signature when I arrived, no real reason I could see for requiring customers to come inside if the order has already been paid and all I had to do was provide my name. I waffled about whether to make this a 3 star or 4 star review because covid safety is really important to me. They are a small business though & I appreciate they cut the pane down right when I brought it back even though it was so close to closing time. I'm hoping they're all vaccinated and that's why they're confident enough not to wear masks but there's no way to know that about strangers, and this pandemic is not over yet by a long shot (just learned this morning someone I know died from it) so I was surprised to see bare faces. I have no idea about the employees' vaccination status or what their habits are, but seeing that sign on the door while everyone inside ignores it makes me think that it's only there so it appears they're following the county health mandate from the outside, without actually doing so. For people with underlying conditions such as myself, it makes me really uncomfortable to be around people right now without masks and their lack of curbside pickup options make it impossible for customers to avoid possible exposure if any of them happen to be infected without symptoms. At the very least I hope they offer curbside pickup to keep their more vulnerable customers safe. Most of us aren't going to bring it up if caught off guard with maskless people, especially after all the stories of people getting aggressive or violent over being asked to wear a mask. But we might choose to go elsewhere next time, where we feel the business is actually making the safety of its customers a priority read more

From the first day that Rob and Johnny showed up to inspect and measure we had a good feeling about our decision to use Wadsworth Glass. Once the order had been placed, it seemed like the time flew by quickly and we were ready to schedule the installation. It was a pretty good size job as we were having almost every window and sliding glass door replaced. We Decided to go with the same product that the improperly installed sliders were. That is a whole other nightmare that is only being referenced because they were the reason, we made the choice to replace them. We then thought since we are doing the doors, let's just do the rest of the windows. Although the existing windows were double paned, they were old metal ones from the 1980's. We were given a time frame for completion and that was exactly how long it took, including cleanup. Wadsworth came very highly recommended to us so we were really glad when they agreed to take our small job. They sent out someone to the house to assess the situation, make notes, take measurements etc. Their policy was that we agree to provide a $150 deposit against any work to be done in order for the home assessment to take place. He came and did a seemingly good job for which we paid the deposit. After a couple of weeks we called to get a status update. This started a months long volley of back and forth messages by phone and email when they would say they were waiting for information, had to research it, had to talk to the assessment guy....then they sent us another customer's invoice. They did cash our check but at this point we think they've lost our paperwork and won't admit it. We've asked for a refund. They need to talk to the manager. So far, no response. This whole time, we have had to initiate communication. No calls or emails from them. Maybe this review will spur on some activity. In the meantime, I advise you go somewhere else. I give one star to account for the COVID situation. Everyone is working hard, but In this case, not hard enough. 10/19: here's the coda to my review. Today I received a check for $150. No note; no call. I will take the check as an indication that they take responsibility for poor service in this case and either being unwilling or unable to complete the job. As a business person myself, I think it is customary to provide an apology or some words of understanding. It's too bad they couldn't find a way to use their words. We wanted to replace 3 large window panes on a bay window, and 2 large sliding glass doors on a balcony. Wadsworth was the only company (of 6) that sent us a contract after the estimate. Other companies did not follow through on this size job. The job foreman, Rob, was also the estimator from over a year ago (pre-Covid) and remembered our Oakland hills house and issues. He recommended an excellent glass tint and new spacer finish. Crew size was 3-4 men. For us, this was an expensive job and the Wadsworth office staff was very patient with the many questions we had, and provided us with sample glass to bring home and test.
