I have a 100+ year old house with big old solid wood windows and I'll admit the new vinyl ones don't have the charm or look/feel of original wooden ones. But Windows4U also convinced me that replicating this old look would cost 4x as much. And its not their fault I chose the vinyl ones. He also agreed to use fiberglass tape because paper drywall tape has a tendency to bubble if not properly applied, which it has now. Moreover, the cause for drywall tape bubbling or cracking is almost always not enough mud under the tape or too much mud on top. This was not the professional job I expected.

Oops sorry!] I was putting my home up for sale and needed a few small repairs before the home inspection. Well, I totally got my dates mixed up and it turned out that I only had two days to make these fixes (otherwise they'd be marked on the inspection report, which we didn't want! I ended up calling Diablo Valley handyman as they were recommended to me by a neighbor. I called first thing in the morning, and I believe I spoke with the actual owner (James.) I told him my situation and even though it sounded like he had a pretty full schedule, he was able to have somebody up the very next day to not only assess everything, but actually make the repairs! We needed to have a fence repaired , a new staircase hand-railing put up, some minor trim fixes around our windows. And then quite a few window screens needed replacing. (We have cats, lol) The fact that they were able to come out on such short notice, make all the repairs in one day, plus the guys that showed up to do the work were warm and friendly! After all of this, I absolutely expected to pay a high premium, however, the invoice came back for a more than reasonable amount! (It was a bit higher than the original estimate over the phone, but that was our fault because we forgot to tell them about the window screens!) Getting ready to sell a house is maddening and so stressful. Do Diablo Valley handyman was one of the only aspects that put us at ease during this entire process! I liked them the best out of all the contractors/handymen I talked to and felt they were very reasonable for cost and schedule. My project consisted of new stucco, trim, framing, and painting for my garage; and drywall and baseboard work inside. Mark and Alvaro completed the work and did a fantastic job. Mark kept me informed with all the progress each day, and his attention to detail ensured that everything ended up looking great. Overall, I had a really good experience with them and will plan to contact them again for any future projects.

None of the others were damaged, but so it goes. I did a search and found Handyman Flores. I called him, but the voicemail on his phone is not set up, so I was unable to leave a message. I used the Yelp communication tool to leave him a message and that made the process far more complicated than it needed to be, because Yelp sent the message to several other window-related companies. It was very aggravating and I won't use that again, because I'm having to respond to all sorts of random companies and people Yelp contacted on my "behalf". Only one of the 4 or 5 companies was local. The closest otherwise was San Rafael. The others were in Pittsburg and San Ramon. Talk about a blunt instrument, unhelpful and, in my case, counterproductive. Most helpful of those was Paula, of East County Glass & Window. If I lived closer, I would certainly use them. Her response was detailed and extremely useful. I finally did reach Handyman Flores, who said by text that he could replace the screen for $120. That seemed OK. I was quoted a range of prices and that was in the middle. He and a helper came over between 5:00 and 6:00 this evening. They replaced the screen and it looks great, as good as new. When I was writing the check I confirmed the amount and he said that it would be $150 because of the materials he had purchased. That was a surprise, but I paid it. He does a wide range of services, so he is indeed a handyman. It would be handier for his customers if his voice mailbox were set up.
