So where do I begin ... let's start with ability to answer any questions over the phone about literally anything. Each person you're directed to has a different and conflicting answer and their etiquette/ manners / professionalism are TOTALLY lacking to the point it was actually comical. 2nd let's touch on the schedule paper, online or otherwise ... they are woefully incorrect , in an average week if we attend 3 times the open gym schedule will be wrong 2 of those times. We've brought it to their attention to which we were told oh well ! The schedule has been the same for 5yrs (which is isn't/ changes quarterly) and that regardless they're closing ... it was basically me and my family telling them of the error to be spoken too like we were idiots by no less than 4 people including a rude old man who was lucky I was there with my family and not alone. Instead of apologizing and offering us an alternative paper schedule we were just told no less than 15 times (no exaggeration) that it's doesn't matter what it says online we're closing ... then were directed to paper schedule available to all member that are in the lobby - which were identical to online and wrong. Great YMCA! Clean exercise equipment, friendly staff and they're always willing to answer questions. My sister comes after school to use the equipment as well, if I or my parents are running late from work home to pick her up. Nothing bad to say about this YMCA. read more

A community YMCA is a wonderful thing, but the one thing even mo better, , is a YMCA that exudes the community motto. Well, one of the Y mottos. The staff is smiley and approachable in any activity you find yourself in -- be it the gym, class, activity or pop-in. Slight downfall, the child watch room is pretty small. I've never been witness to them turning a child away while the parents arrive for workout drop-off, but if you have a kid like mine who tends to get nervous in room-cram situations, bring them during the last hour they are open, morning and evening, and get a quick workout in. I've had experiences in quite a few classes at the Y: Little Swimmer, Tumbling, Boot Camp, Zumba and Yoga just to name a few -- I've had nothing but positive experiences. I have been taking the Tuesday/Wednesday 9am yoga class since the start of 2017 and I cannot get enough. Katelyn is my jam. Yoga signup fill quick, but if you find yourself on the waiting list just be sure to talk to an instructor, they do what the can to fit you in or find a spot for you. As a member, some classes (like Boot Camp) are free and Yoga is only $10. You can attend as many classes, through the week, as you want. I've been in 4 yoga classes in one week! There is no cap to the number of classes you sign up for. If you live in the community of Wadsworth, while the monthly fee seems pricey, for a family membership you really do get a wonderful experience and may find yourself or your children attending class or participating in events that you may not have otherwise. I have never written a review about anything. Unfortunately I couldn't help myself and had to vent. I have been going to the YMCA for over 4 years now. I went to school here in Wadsworth so I found it easy to just go and lift right after school. Now, as a college student I have started to realize how poor this place is. The lack of machines and dumbbells is absurd. You are unable to go on your phone in between reps or a crusty old man will talk to you. The workers in the gym department are rude and awkward. If you manage to find yourself in the YMCA at 2:30pm on a weekday, good luck to you. Because all of the high schoolers come in and hog every weight and machine possible. The school should allow the students to lift within the school. I KNOW THEY HAVE PLENTY OF WEIGHTS. The workers just stand around and watch YOU even though you aren't the problem. I've wiped down everything and haven't caused problems. Kids would walk up to me and be disrespectful while supervision was right in front of them. Today was my last day of going their because on a Saturday they close at 3pm.... 3PM!!!! I work and find it difficult to work between the Y's horrible hours. I went to Walmart and got just as much equipment as the Y has to offer. Y'all won't ever be seeing me again, sorry old crusty guy!!! read more

I visited the Wadsworth Y twice while in Akron with family over the holidays. The pool is, by far, the nicest pool I've seen at a Y, and one of the nicest pools I've been to, period...with six dedicated lap lanes almost all the time, and a separate kid/family pool. It was bright, clean, and beautiful. The locker rooms are pretty tiny, but not crowded, at least when I was there. The fitness room was crazy busy on New Years Eve, and could use a little more open space for mat/ball exercises, but it was nicely equipped. The staff was super friendly when checking in an out-of-town member, remembered my name when I returned, and even offered to loan me their personal lock when I asked if they had locks to use (I forgot mine at home...and my Y will loan you one in exchange for your keys). Most people don't understand what YMCA means. It's Young Men's Christian Association. That being said you would think it's a God fearing up stand able place. It's not! It's about money. They don't care if they have quality instructors or not. They don't care if management is rude or not. They play games with there pricing. Most Community Rec centers were built for the Community not this place. If you only plan on going there one month. They make you buy a year membership pass. It's just greed. We originally signed up but I just got to costly for a family. So my son started using it one month out of the year. They were charging 5 per time. But they ended that and they want a year member ship now! They turned my son away because he wanted to play basketball. 5 dollars is good enough a day. They want him to pay$60 for month! I see nothing Christian about the YMCA. read more

If I could give this place no stars, I would. The staff is terrible. I would never have guessed it was a Christian association. Coming from another ymca and moving to the area, I was appalled by the daycare, the gym staff, and the greeters. This is not worth 70$ a month to send your family here. I pray the staff is changed soon bc everyone has complained about this staff and nothing has been done. Disgusting. read more

I actually agree with what others have said. Wadsworth YMCA is an extension of the high school. Flooded with high schoolers who sit on weights and make rude comments. Poorly designed locker rooms, dark, silent, small...I'm always worried I'm going to bump into someone changing. Not enough weights to go around. A lot of disorganization with the weight equipment. The staff is disconnected from the patrons, except for the nursery staff. Lap Pool is pretty much Wadsworth swim team property. The basketball courts are soccer team, baseball, softball, track, basketball team occupied constantly. The gym itself could stand to extend their hours of operation. No towels, sauna, steam room or racquetball, yet you pay like you would if the gym included these things. I was stopped by the parking lot attendants coming and going to make sure I was parked correctly. Recently, they upped their pricing with no notable change in service. I've lived different places and been a member at multiple gyms, this YMCA may look nice, but it is very poorly run and does s poor job of considering patrons apart from high school athletes. My wife and I talk about switching gyms, but the child care and closeness are the only things keeping us. In saying all these negatives, I must say the water pressure at the water fountains is top notch. Please, please, YMCA staff or administration, if you read this make some real changes. Simple labeling of weights could fix organization. More open court/lap pool times. Open the gym at 5 and close at 10. Pipe some music into the locker rooms. Have the gym attendants acknowledge regular attendees. If I don't attend any classes I should not have to pay for them. read more

Was 17 when I signed up, so signing any documents holds no legality. They understood my age and let me sign anyways. I went in today after I canceled my membership last month because I wondered why I was still being charged. Well, this heavy set young lady was very rude after I explained that regardless of what was signed, it held no weight and I wanted my money back for the month. She proceeded to give me her 2 cents about that not being right and shoved the card of her business manager in my face and said "bye". I would HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND going here unless you want rude service. I did not show any disrespect to this lady until she got snarky and rude toward me when it really had nothing to do with her. I agree - the facility is top notch - very clean - lots of equipment. But, the staff is not very friendly or helpful. And, watch your personal belongings - things have been stolen out of the locker rooms. read more

I was very disappointed in the youth basketball program that my son attended. The coach was not reliable and things were not very organized. We never knew where we would have practice or if the coach would be in attendance. I registered for the program with the plan of joining the YMCA, but after the disorganized program, and the one rude staff member I decided I would rather look into other places even if I have to drive farther. read more

This rating is for the new outdoor pool, not the indoor facility. I have never heard of more absurd safety rules or seen ruder lifeguards at any pool I've ever been to. You need to be within arms length of your kids 5 & under at all times, even in splash pad with 1 inch of water. This is really feasible with more than one kid of different ages. Basically all kids that do not pass the swim test need to wear a life jacket and still be within arms length. And don't think of letting that distance increase or you will get yelled at by some 15 year old lifeguard. I went twice and both times were the same. I won't go into the rest of the safety rule list, as this post is long enough. The supervisor agreed that the rules are absurd but they are not in a position to change them due to the "insurance" requirements. Both times I went there were many other patrons arguing and complaining. I'm all for safety, but I have never left a pool angry in my life until this place & I've never seen so many other people angry as well. They also refuse to refund the money for the season pass. They said too many people are complaining and they can't give refunds to everyone. Just awful customer service in addition to the over the top safety rules. Even if the rules were normal, the design of the pools are bad. The splash area for little kids is nice, but the rest of the areas are way too small. read more
