This place is a scam…read more First off, it's like a factory, where everyone lines up to have the exact same adjustments done ( - it's all out in this big open room, so you can see what they're doing.) They sit you in this room and tell you about all the modalities they'll use to help you, and then calmly tell you it'll be some $12,000 and hand you the clipboard to sign, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. If you dare question their quote, or ask any billing questions whatsoever, they will make an example out of you, and give you a hard time, and sigh and shake their head, and make you feel like a 'problem patient,' and have some supposed bigwig from the back come out to talk to you, and other nonsense and idiocy. I had to beg and plead with them to give me some exercises I could do at home to help with the pain - but they weren't even concerned about that - I guess if the pain goes away, I wouldn't come back as much, right? - but they'd grudgingly give me just one new exercise every few times - and only because I pushed them to - they knew which ones I needed and just held them back - they could've helped me months earlier!!! It was also a bit frightening to overhear Dr Bupp on the phone with his wife on a couple of occasions... He was just shockingly immature,... and (as if the exorbitant charges and upselling and one-size-fits-all adjustments, and rude girls running around and Jesus music weren't enough,) I knew for sure then I wouldn't trust him anymore... Please be careful here. They may be able to help, but they will make you pay way beyond what you should have to, and make you wait much longer for pain relief than is necessary. Remember there's a lot you can do with stretching and exercises and posture at home.

Instead of apologizing and offering us an alternative paper schedule we were just told no less than 15 times (no exaggeration) that it's doesn't matter what it says online we're closing ... then were directed to paper schedule available to all member that are in the lobby - which were identical to online and wrong. A total joke for a place that's nearly $80 a month after tax for a family of 4.

Registration is a bit of a process. You first have to create a profile through the Lorain County Metro Parks system, then return to the Splash Zone site to register for a specific program on a designated day and time. Once registered, the system shows your cost--mine initially showed $0. I arrived about 30 minutes early on the morning of my class, which turned out to be helpful because I had to re-register in person. After completing that, I was told there would normally be a $3 fee due to my SilverSneakers account. However, the woman at the front desk kindly let me attend for free that day, explaining that future visits would be $3. Since I'd never been there before, I had to navigate through several locker and pool areas. There are multiple pools separated by glass dividers with automatic doors--someone shared a helpful tip that the small black box above the door shows which side to stand on to trigger it. The instructor came in without much of an introduction, set up a small carry-on-size speaker, put on her headset, and began the class. The workout was aqua Tabata (a Japanese-style interval workout): 20 seconds of fast-paced movement followed by 10 seconds of rest. The class lasted 45 minutes. I stayed for about 30 minutes, choosing to leave early since shower space is limited and I like to be considerate of others. The workout itself was excellent, and being in the water felt really good. The showers, however, were not great--hair on the floor and a general "public park" feel, even at 10:30 a.m. I was glad I wore water shoes. On the plus side, the water temperature and the very hot shower afterward were appreciated. The instructor mentioned that this is her business and encouraged people to connect on Facebook (with a profile photo), and it's clear she's very talented. Overall, despite a few logistical and cleanliness issues, I'd go back again--and next time, I'd happily pay the $3 when I'm in town.

this experience was not the best. it could've been better. all of it was great except this one…read morelifeguard Lucas. My daughter who is eight years old, was going on the slide the whole time. Then the lifeguard switched a bunch of times. She was able to go on the side all those times. And she was tall enough all those times also. And then there lifeguard who didn't let her and said she was too short. I let him know that she was a really strong swimmer and that she could touch the bottom of the pool. There was this one kid who was in line in front of her and he let her go was the same height as my daughter. And then the lifeguard Lucas said my daughter was too short. Even if she was the same as other girl that went in front of her. Her hair was what was making her taller. And he said the hair on her head counts. So I put my daughter's hair up in a bun and he said well that doesn't . She cannot go on the slide. That is what got on my nerves. We will not be going back to splash zone again if it has anything to do with that lifeguard.

I went for aqua aerobics. These signs were on the wall for motivation.

My regular readers know i am a stingy old scrooge when it comes to five star ratings. Impress me…read more Zephyr's Fitness has earned its stripes in my opinion. Here is why: Before heading over to Northern Ohio i did A-LOT of research on gyms. Cooked them all down into two possibilities. One near the office up by Cleveland and one near Orville OH. All of the others are weight loss focused. Not weight training. Think squat racks, deadlifts, weights crashing, and soaked shirts. I better stop there before i digress into something not suitable for those with weak hearts and young children. Let's talk about the owner. To know the owner is to know the gym. This is a man with a solid physic, quite demeanor, with a deep well of determination and focus. He is an integral member of the community from what i can tell. The kind of person everyone should have in there life for all sorts of good reasons. He is often present. Either working out himself or getting to know his members. Often both simultaneously from what i have noticed. Be prepared for him to introduce himself at some point. Maybe you can beat him to it and introduce yourself. So good friendly energy at this gym. The gym is carved up into a few different areas. The main gyms is surrounded by a track for laps or to walk off stiff muscles. The middle is halved by an area that is often used to push or drag weights, lunges and other exercises that requires some room to roam. The front section isolation machines and cardio machines. All new and in great shape. Minimal duplicate machines are available if it gets busy but so far it has not been an issue. The second half is free-weights. With three squat racks, hack squat, small leg press, two smith machines, six assorted bench presses. and other equipment. Lots of action in this area. It is open and welcoming without feeling like your on display. The "Jungle" is a walled off area behind a large industrial but windowed garage door. This area is for those on a mission. The chalk can be found here. Along with loud noises, heavy weight, and worn machines. Each has likely seen a lot of blood,sweat and tears offered up on there alters over the years. The section next to it has a warmup area, at least that how i use it. Stretching, some machines, some tired jump-ropes, bands and so on. Next to this area is the cross fit area. This is in effect another whole building to which i will have to defer to someone who knows it better than I. The gym has a good sound system that plays some decent 80's. There are nooks to store your stuff. Lockers are available but i am not sure how that all works. The front desk is staffed M-F. But weekend coverage is iffy at best. BUT and this is a big BUT, is the doors are locked and you cannot get in without a token. You only get a token if your monthly member. So what about us daily folks you ask. We are F@%$!. Yep, say a prayer and hope someone see's you awkwardly pressing your face up against the one-way glass from the outside. Wave and knock and make all kinds of motions. That's what i do. I try and make it totally awkward for everyone inside trying there best not to see or acknowledge me. It really gets fun when a member comes walking around the corner and beeps in. It must be pretty funny for those driving by as well. I try and put on a good show. Waiting for the police to show up to haul me off. So a word of warning... you may not want to gulp down your pre-workout until you know you can get in if your a daily like me. So call and make sure. Sometime the phone lines go straight to VM on Saturday. Sunday nobody is there to let you in. Once your in you can pay the 10 bucks. But getting through those doors is a craps shoot on the weekend at least. Given the limited options for those committed to training, Zephyr's is a keeper. Worthy of my 30 minute commute each way to partake in its offerings.

I worked online with Seth Scrimo…read more He promised I would get leaner while not affecting what I eat, and maintaining my lifestyle. This was not the case. We started with a maintainable lower calorie intake that, after a brief period of adjusting, my body well adapted to (2300calories). As the weeks passed calories were further decreased and I followed all instructions by Seth. I am not sure if my good self-discipline invited this but my calorie intake kept getting lower and lower. Going into month 3 of the program my daily calorie allotment was 1500calories. At that moment I am a 6'2" tall (188cm) male with around 210lbs (95kg) going to the gym 6x a week. I should note at this point in the program I was supposed to start increasing calories to see what my maintainable food intake was and stop further losing weight. This was advertised but never happened. Even though I complained on many occasions these low calorie numbers are not maintainable (it doesn't match my desired lifestyle or fitness goals), my feeling of anger, low energy, tiredness for standard daily activities - Seth kept pushing to continue with this extremely low calorie count for another 3 weeks (after I complained for the past 6 weeks of these goals not matching my goals and of feeling unwell). At this moment I had a breakdown and said ENOUGH. I felt constant anger (not just annoyance, but raging-anger constantly for no reason), low energy and malnourishment (I would break my low calorie diet to 'binge eat' eggs. Not cookies, but eggs). This was all great to Seth and all he kept repeating was: "You'll be great, don't worry, just push through it". 6 weeks of feeling bad and unhealthy. Constant promise it will 'somehow' be better. At the point I said enough, I felt so desolate it didn't make any sense that I could possibly feel good later. Only worse. It went way way too far for too long. After I finally said ENOUGH I had trouble adjusting back to food. This lasted for a few days (I cried while eating, making peace that I need to eat food & have enough calories to normally function). I was coached into developing an eating disorder. (It is month later as I write this, and I am not yet fully recovered). I never gave any reason to be coached into this insanely restrictive diet. I am healthy, with relatively healthy habits but wanted to work on my overall eating lifestyle. While at the same time I did repeatedly say that I do not want this low calorie goal ("I am not feeling healthy", and "I can't maintain this low calorie intake as a lifestyle"). After realising Seth is completely disregarding my feedback, I quit the program that I payed a lot of money for. My goals and health were completely ignored. And then my complaints were ignored. Beware of working with Seth Scrimo!
