When I need a pick-me-up after work, or if I've been awesome and need to reward myself, I go for the Bangcock Dangerous at Waffle Bird. To be honest, I've been here a dozen times and I've only had the Bangcock Dangerous. For one, it's fun to say. But more than that, it's delicious and makes me happy. Perfect crispy fried chicken, a little sweet a little spicy, and the bun is the exact kind of bun a crispy chicken sandwich deserves. Get the extra piece of chicken stuffed in there, because you deserve it. I get fries with mine, and I've never actually had the waffles. I'm just not a waffle-guy I guess?

Have you been to the secret chicken & waffles spot in #yeg? Waffle Bird is tucked away in a back alley off Whyte (on 101 St) and this tiny hidden spot pumps out some delicious eats. Open for take out only, it feels like you're walking straight into the 80's with their black walls and bright neon painting. The waffles are Liege waffles (dense and breadier than regular waffles), and they're structurally perfect to hold fried chicken without crumbling. The chicken is fantastic - beautifully seasoned, not too battered and still moist after a dip in the fryer. We tried the Angry Bird sandwich which had a tingling, addictive heat soaked into a buttery brioche bun. The Breakfast at Chickadee's was intense; waffle topped with bacon jam, 1 or 2 pieces of chicken, thick cut brie (it melts into a creamy sauce blanket!) and a fried egg. Pour maple syrup over it for extra decadence. Oh, and definitely leave room for dessert because Woahnuts also lives here - a waffle/donut hybrid available in a variety of rotating flavours.

Is there anything better then Chicken & Waffles? This is the new restaurant that took over the Dangerkat Waffles location, located in the back alley just off Whyte. Once in the alley you can't miss it, it's a very bright colourful building. I had the Angry Waffle Bird which is there spicy chicken. I didn't get the full spice because you know getting older and heartburn, but the regular spice was very good, spicy but didn't blow out my pallet. Waffle Bird is take out only (very small location), but what they lack in size they make up for in flavour with their food. I would also suggest calling in advance to order your food for pick up as I waited 20 minutes for my food (they definitely gave me a heads up about the wait). Strongly recommend anyone checking this place out. Great people and fantastic food.

Just happed to see this store on my mall walk. Loved the display and everything looked delicious. I…read moresaw the menu says minis are sold in 4, 8, or 12 but I asked and if I could get 1 mini and that was okay. She said they were all made that day. I tried the Oreo. It was just okay. Sweet waffle with sweet topping. Waffle itself was a little cold and firmer than I expected for "fresh". Topping wasn't too sweet which I liked. Overall it was a tasty snack but not something I would buy again. I do wonder if the main waffles are made fresh to order and if they are the same batter. I really like that they have them on display so you know what you are ordering. Seating available infront of the store next to a cute fountain makes for a nice spot for coffee and a snack or a date!

There are some bistro seating chairs you can sit in to enjoy after ordering. After a long evening of shopping I stopped here with my husband to try a waffle. We got one that was covered in chocolate sauce, nutella and marshmallows and it was so good! The waffle was hot, fresh and fluffy, and the toppings were neither scant nor overdone. The wait for our waffle was a little long (~10 minutes) but it made up for it with freshness and taste, I'd rather wait for a made-to-order waffle. We also tried an Oreo milkshake, and it was excellent as well. I'm a big fan of waffles and pretty picky about them, but I will definitely be back to try more.

I was told the most…read morenotable thing on the menu is their sausage ( They have unique ones like a chicken and blueberry sausage) I had the savory belgian waffle that had on it two poached eggs with homemade hollandaise sauce and potatoes and a side of their chicken sausage. sure enough, the sausage was my favorite part! Keep in mind the waffle is not sweet whatsoever. My friend had the huevos under the wheel: 2 eggs, black beans, pico, feta, avocado on a crepe. BUT they were out of avocados which was disappointing! We thought they could have done without the weird texture of the crepe. I would love to return and try new things!

It was a meal that filled me up and I was hungry before ordering. Something that continued to surprise me as I was eating the dish was that the refried beans had a bit of cinnamon in them. Not bad or unpleasant, really, just surprising. My spouse ordered the hamburger and said it was good, though the fries were cold and the burger was messy to eat. The ambiance is casual, clean, and first date appropriate. Okay for children too, since kids were in view. A trendy place and you pay a little extra for this.

I found the menu was a little limited if you were not in a steak mood. So yes shrimp on pasta was the meal even though I generally dont order pasta in restaurants. Apart from no chicken there was lots of little mistakes. I ordered a gin and tonic with light gin. But it did not come with the light gin just the others. And they did not seem to know who's food was this. Which lead to problems as when they came out with the shrimp on pasta dishes, I had forgotten thats what I ordered. But we were a large group so some amount of confusion is understandable. And there was still lots of good. They had a hugh selection of gins and tonics. I love that. Had two great ones of the dozens they had on the menu. The apitizers were great. Roasted beans, flat bread with a cheese topping and a third thing that disappeared fast. Everyone seemed to enjoy the meal, and we had 2 different people that had some struct dietary restrictions and they handled that well. So yes no one died thats a plus. All in all a great night

Ordering in the charcuterie box is definitely worth it as well for special occasions spent in! (Skip the dishes). The staff was welcoming and friendly when I visited dressed up for my birthday, however not so much when I was in my hiking boots walking down Whyte. There are only 2 things that need improvement: 1- Bring the burger back! It was amazing and we were sad to see it leave! We'd be back more often if you brought it back! 2- Education of the staff that Whyte is a tourist destination, and they should be treating customers equally, despite if they are in high heels, or hiking boots. lol

We would go back in a heartbeat, just need to sleep off the food coma for a while. It's bright and airy in spite of the smallish space and the amount of booths and tables, oh and you can sit at the counter. The walls and ceiling are covered in memorabilia, concert banners and what not. The place was absolutely hopping at 12:45 PM, but we were sat in a booth right away. Waters dropped moments later, asked if we needed coffee, tea or whatever else you wanted to drink. Our server was fantastic, explaining and educating us as we were first timers. The food came out piping hot very quickly and our tea ordered after the food was dropped came in a large teapot and hot just like at home. The clubhouse, which I did not have, has house made ham and turkey according to our server. My corn beef had slices of corn beef that did not taste house made, but the sheer volume of meat I couldn't finish, the eggs were cooked perfectly. K's Mexicasa omelette was excellent with the Mexican meat the star. I know why the place is consistently full, it's that good. Definite redo when back in West Edmonton
