The restaurant was clean, the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was really good. They have the best coffee I've ever had.

We hadn't eaten out for a while so we seen this place and thought it looked cute so we walked over from Pilot (across the street) and sat down to order our food. I had to repeat my order 4 times and the "waitress" still wasn't getting it. Simple order "ribeye and shrimp dinner" comes with 2 sides but don't order the onion rings because even though it's on the "sides menu" they charged me $2 extra for the small helping that I received. She looked and asked if we wanted to split the dinner and I said "no want 2 of the ribeye dinners with the 2 sides" she looked puzzled and said "ooohhhh so you want the shrimp basket and a ribeye? I repeated what I wanted 3 more times and each time she looked like a lost deer in the headlights. I showed her the picture on the menu (thank God for pictures because like a two year-old she would not have understood what I wanted without the pictures) the food had ZERO FLAVOUR...after we doused it with salt and pepper it was tolerable at best. The meal was $22 a plate but not worth half what they were charging. Now let's get to the second half of this review The Service As I stated earlier in this review, this girl was not quite all there, she brought me the bill 1/2 way through us eating the meal, said "you can take care of this anytime" but proceeded to come back multiple times like she was waiting for us to pay. When I was looking over the bill, I noticed the two dollar charge for the onion rings and when I asked her about it, she looked at me once again with those deer in the headlight look in her eyes shrugged her shoulders and said "I don't know maybe it was a specialty side" and I said no it was on the sides item list. She looked at me like she could care less so I asked her if there was somebody here that would know why they were charging two dollars extra for onion rings. She said no all the managers have gone home for the night so there was nobody there that could answer the question. We paid our bill and left very dissatisfied and now my stomach is kind of upset so I'll probably throw the leftovers away because now I'm not sure if it's going to be safe to eat. The quality of the food is nowhere near what it should be The ribeye steak is like that of which you would buy at Walmart in the box of 5 ribeyes out of the freezer for $15.88 The shrimp is the frozen box of SeaPak shrimp, again that you find at Walmart for $9.87 As my wife and I were walking out the door she overheard them talking crap about us wanting to speak to the manager like they want to keep the manager around all night long to make sure customers are taken care of. Mind you it was not even 5:00 pm yet. And the only reason that I wanted to speak with a manager was the question about the onion rings. Rude unprofessional uninformed staff, probably cracked out, meth heads that couldn't stop twitching for their next fix. The cook kept sliding his jaw like meth heads do when they are high. I almost forgot to mention that the ribeye steak tasted fishy so I'm not sure what that was all about.

The waitresses were very friendly and great at their job. The menu was quite extensive. Our food came pretty quickly. My husband got the haystack and he enjoyed it and took half of it home because it was so large. I got one biscuit and gravy with scrambled eggs of top. Biscuits were fluffy and sausage gravy was so good and just the way I like it. My husband said the coffee was very good. I had unsweet iced tea and it was good as well. Don't forget to ask for a senior discount if you are a senior. The ticket was less than what we usually eat for at Cracker Barrel. We will definitely come back when camping here again! Next time though I'm going to try their pies!

Spacious interior, and I think one of the best features is the wide aisles between tables. Very comfortable for customers using a walker or wheelchair. Just a nice accommodation for diners. Wonderful service, even on a busy holiday. Struggling to keep up with a busy lunch rush, but they were holding it together quite well. Clean restrooms. Had the meatloaf special. Not fresh made meatloaf. This was more of a minced, spam-ish beef product with can gravy. Didn't taste like home, sadly. However, veggies were fine as were the fries. And for the price, overall a good value. This is a fine diner. I'd recommend sticking close to the short order classics.

Making it in the door just before 8:PM to be seated was most likely not a good idea, we took our chances and were seated in the main dinning room, a lovely place. We placed our appetizer order while looking over the menu. Due to the fact that my sweetheart has an allergy to Gluten and most of the appetizers were fried we chose the Seared Scallops, now as not to waste time and knowing they wanted to close early we made our dinner choices, the 14oz Sirloin cooked Medium and the Seared Ahi Tuna with the the marinade on the side as these marinade usually have soy sauce in them and most soy sauces have gluten. Now our appetizer came to the table Fried Scallops ? We looked at the plate and looked at each other, then we asked to see the menu again, we were sure that we ordered the Seared Scallops, the owner came over and asked if there was a problem and we asked about the Scallops and told her about my Sweetie's gluten allergy, she stated that you can have the scallops Seared or Fried, she never offered to take them back and prepare them seared as we were sure that we ordered or to prepare something else for us. Now comes the dinner, my Steak was cooked perfectly medium, but, the Ahi Tuna was over cooked. Needless to say my sweetheart did not have a good dinner or experience at the Brass Lantern however, we will give them another chance as we all know that anyone can have a bad day and it was not all bad, their place is a charming spot just off of the lake. I did read on their website that the owners moved to Kentucky to open this restaurant, the husband has many years of experience in restaurant management and the wife has a bookeeping background, this must have been the bookeeper we encountered as her hospitality and customer service was not her strong suit.

We only waited about 5 minutes to be seated near the large fireplace. The restaurant has a country log cabin feel and we were seated near the large fireplace in the main room which was nice on this cold, rainy evening. We were waited on quickly getting drinks and then placing our orders. We both visited the salad bar which was nicely stocked and I ordered the filet medium and my wife had the twin lobster tails. Dinner came fairly quickly for the full house and my steak was cooked perfectly. Warm but pink inside and it had an open flame grilled taste. The lobster tails were large for the price, cooked so they were tender and not at all chewy. The sugar snap peas with my steak were crisp and nicely seasoned and we also received a warm loaf of brown bread with our meal. Our waitress was helped by both the hostess and another server as it seemed she had too many tables to give us too much attention but we never had to wait too long. It was funny how out of breath she was running from table to table when she did stop by. Very good meal for the price. Dinner with four beers and tip came to $80.
