We drove over night straight through the snow storm from Western Ky headed to NOLA. We stopped at the Waffle House in Canton MS. Everyone was so nice, sweet, was overall very polite. My wife and I were traveling and took a quick Thursday lunch break from the interstate. Although we have often done quick breakfasts or lunches at various Waffle House locations and have been pleased, this one was simply not up to par. Service was friendly and efficient, but grilled cheese and bacon sandwiches needed longer grilling to adequately melt the cheese and accompanying chili was just not hot and had that bland, obviously canned, taste. In addition, the men's room was a disaster. Dirty sinks, floors, etc., no hand soap. Just bad. read more

Yikes! I am a big lover of the waffle house. However, this is not a part of that love... I came into the restaurant around shift change, I guess... I sit in the middle of the bar and I think because I was behind the dishwasher, the waitress, a big ole overstuffed " don't - Carebear" with corn chip nails, and a pursed lip that can only eat through a straw threw much shade. Picture juvenile eye rolls and a constant bad look on your face. She seemed like the mean girl from high school still trying to live her glory. Even though she wasn't the cook, she decided to cook my eggs over easy. I think she then got mad at me because I sent them back because they were completely raw and shook like Jell-O when they came. I had to gently pull back the skin, and you could see nothing but raw white. The second ones brought up were also jiggly white but not as much with a broken yolk. I just push both over to the side and did not touch them. Today I went back to the same place at shift change. Looked like she was about to get out. (confirmed later when she left and turned over the table). She made sure to come over to my table (other side of the restaurant where she was sitting down) even though there were other servers. Nothing but shade. I even asked for water after she left (only stayed there to stare at me when she took the initial order. Bad attitude). Did not know that she was leaving, however, I asked for another waitress. Without me, even knowing she said, "oh, she's taking it over " I think she just came over to be a jerk. Don't think I'll be going back to this waffle house. It can rot. Despite this, the guy who cook today and the lady who took over for me did what they always did. Make good food. Just not the same upbeat friendly place anymore to us. So we won't be going back. One young lady is so nice. But the other 2 big women should stay home all they do is sit on their azz's collecting an undeserved check! It's consistently going downhill in food quality. We all know about he Waffle House chain, which is pretty much the Mc Donalds of breakfast places, so this is less a review of the chain than this specific location. This location North of Jackson is cleaner than most and I found the staff to be friendly and chatty, even taking into account the fact I look and sound like some damn yankee. My advice is if you like your eggs over easy, ask for them over medium, their version of easy is nearly raw. read more

I would like to chalk this up to COVID related but I see a lot of bad reviews going farther back. Food was ok. Waffle was a little burnt. It was mostly the service and the place was dirty. Seemed to take forever to take our order. There were only 2 other tables in there. Didn't offer or bring cream for coffee. Didn't refill coffee, didn't brink syrup. Didn't bring the check. A little slow this morning, and they are making it work. Staff isn't afraid to do what they have to do! Manager even came out and started expediting the process. I have to say that I've never seen a Waffle House work this well under pressure! Only reason I marked one star off was because of how long it took to get my food ordered and the fact that there was a "To-go" service charge!?!?! Flys everywhere. Food is pre cooked. The staff had plates of precooked food they would use. Maybe that's why there were so many flys. It's a dump of a business. No clean seating areas. Mr Ken really has his team on point. The first Saturday of the year it gets cold outside and everyone decided to go to this Waffle House. They were swamped and I'm not sure they expected it to get that busy. Everyone held their stations, communication was on point, they were overwhelmed with dishes but never once ran out and with all the chaos going on they still managed to take care of each customer and cook everything spot on. Can't believe I was just treated the way I was treated. And the sad part about it, is this is the third time at this location with the same employee. I know that Fred was the cook, and typically the cook on the shift is the manager so I'm going to have to say that both employees were in the wrong even though the gentlemen than said his name was Ken should not be employees! Hopefully Waffle House gives a crap enough to respond back but me, my family, and my friends that live here, will never be back until this employee is no longer here. While travelling thru Canton, my partner and I decided to stop at the Waffle House in Canton, Mississippi two days ago, October 3, 2021 around 9:00 PM. No one greeted us as we made our way through dirty tables and counter to a booth next to the grills. A dirty mop handle greeted us as we sat down, I noticed that the table was greasy and had debris smeared by the napkin holder. The staff seemed to be in a very playful mood with each other as we sat patiently waiting to be served. My partner retrieved two menus from the counter, and after several more minutes, a waitress came over to the booth and we ordered our food. When our food arrived, she gave my partner plastic utensils. When he asked why he did not receive silverware, she then produced the item requested. While we were eating, the chaos with the staff disrupting the meal continued with loud antics from them. A Spanish family sat down at a table, and a woman who seemed to be the manager went to their table and told them they had to leave because the restaurant only did carry out! They left. The manager was a short, stout, black woman with long braids in her hair. I was truly shocked at her behavior towards what would have been customers. Upon paying for the meal, I noticed that the waffle machines were filthy, along with the greasy grills, floors and windows. IAM SURPRISED The Health Dept. has not been notified! I WAS SHOCKED BY THE CONDITION OF THE RESTAURANT AND THE UNPROFESSIONAL, PREJIDICED BEHAVIOR OF YOUR STAFF!! I would not recommend ANYONE to ever eat in that place again. Stopped on our way home from visiting our Son in Jackson. No one greeted us as we can in, the table was dirty & they never wiped it down, my food came (an egg & toast-which was cold) when I was done eating they brought my husband food!
