This was the best run Waffle House I have ever seen! The tables and bar were kept clean, the cooking area was very well organized, and every employee was as cheerful as can be, greeting everyone who entered with a big "hello!" Even the rest rooms were clean! (I don't see a need to specify them as a "man's or woman's" rest room since they are both single-seaters that are securely locked from within.) Now for the food: the double hash browns all-the-way was more than I could eat at one sitting but they gave me a nice take out container that was easy to seal securely. A good place for Southern comfort food in Florence, SC! This is one of the more than 2100 locations located in the United States. It looks like there are about 170 Waffle Houses in South Carolina. This particular restaurant is located on the south side of the I-20B and I-95 intersection. Like many Waffle Houses, parking is limited at the location but there is additional parking at the hotels and businesses next to it. It is set up like a typical Waffle house with a staff that greets you when you enter. You can eat at the tall counter or in the booths to the left and right of the counter. The menu is regular American fare with eggs, omelets, and sandwiches for breakfast. The prices are very reasonable. The restaurant was not very crowded when we visited. The store was very clean. The laminated menus offer your choices for emails. If you are older, please pay attention to the senior specials for the best deals. The waitress came to take our order quickly. We ordered waffles (of course) and eggs, bacon, and drinks. The food came out quickly and tasted very good. The staff was very professional. The price was good and the food was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting some good food and a pleasant atmosphere. read more

Y'all! This is the best Waffle House I've ever been too. I walked in to the one across from the mall in Florence for a Togo order and the ENTIRE staff was welcoming and friendly. My hash browns had the perfect amount of toppings and crunch. The cook on duty made the best chicken sandwich, I've ever had from a WH. When my Togo order was ready and as I was leaving, the entire staff again told me to have a good night. Major props to the staff on duty tonight. read more

I have to admit, I've passed many a waffle house in my time. Usually while on an expressway somewhere in Florida. But on a recent road trip from NY to FLA, it became humorous as we counted a Waffle House at pretty much every exit we passed. You gotta do something to break up the monotony right? So, our little game led to our first actual Waffle House dining experience, in Florence, SC. We parked and decided to take a selfie outside of the restaurant before heading in, only to find that the patrons were laughing at our antics. One of the waitresses ran outside and offered to snap a photo of us. I guess we looked pretty ridiculous, but they were so sweet and friendly about it. We were seated in a booth and promptly greeted by our waitress named, Love. She was outgoing and so gracious, she sure made us feel welcome immediately. We ordered our breakfast wanting a bit of everything, but Love had a better suggestion for us that would wind up saving us money, by ordering a different combination of items. Shortly thereafter our food arrived. The presentation was a bit lacking, meaning the food itself didn't look that appealing. The waffle looked kinda flat. But after tucking in, I quickly forgot the appearance because everything was so damned good! The waffle was delicious! I was in shock. It was then I realized WHY Waffle House is so popular. It was a fun little experience with a taste of some Southern Hospitality thrown in courtesy of the service by our waitress, Love. Next road trip, I will make a pit stop in Florence for some waffles! read more

Please.. This is the comfort food of the road. When we go to restaurants I am the last to order because I can never make up my mind. He, no problem. I always order the All Star Meal. 2 eggs, bacon with the Hash Browns all the way hold the gravy, and a waffle (Which contrary to the name are only ok. They are a little floppy). I am good for the day my friends. The store I was in the server was pleasant and the food arrives so quick!! For less than $10 a bargain. read more

Where shall I begin. Its my first time going to this waffle house, passing thru on my way home to Brooklyn. So I like my eggs fried, but yolk cooked & not cracked. I explained how I want my eggs, she said its over medium but well done. Still got my eggs w/ the yolk not cooked. She did take them back & tried to explain how to cook them, got them & they were better. Grits, as usual always on point. Issue begain while we were eating she decided to remove empty plates, so she asks me for mine thats to my left, she tells me,"I dont want to reach over you" which im fine passing her the plate, once she gets the plate she then proceeded to reach over me to put the ticket (check) ontop of the napkin holder. Um seriously, I dont get it. U didnt take the plate cuz u had to reach over me but u reached over me to put the ticket down. Let me mention we werent even half way done w/ our food. So my husband asked for the manager, he apologized & said thats how all Waffle houses do it. Give u your check before your done. Um no, im from Brooklyn everytime i go down south either Ga or Fl I goto Waffle House for their grits. This is the first time someone has ever did that too me. This Waffle House is a little piece of heaven in the morning! When you walk in you are treated to about eight hearty hellos! The staff here is super friendly, attentive and professional! The restaurant was spotless, everyone appears to be motivated to help each other. The wait staff just yells out their orders and the cooks run with it! Both cooks are only about four feet away, so it was entertaining to watch them juggling all those orders being shouted to them! Plenty of options on the placemat menu...our food was delicious(I haven't had raisin bread in ages). Portions were plentiful! Wow! I walked in at 10 pm and was instantly greeted with a smile. Monique came over, introduced herself and brought silverware. She said she wouldn't be my server but she could get me something to drink and take my order, if I was ready; until my server was available. Good for her! I love a good employee. Then the cook came over to be sure I was ok with onions in the dish I ordered. Much easier to do it right the first time. Seeking clarification is awesome. The food was great. No complaints for quality, quantity, taste or anything. It's not a 5 star restaurant but they don't pretend to be and that's not how I'm comparing them. All the staff was friendly and made the customers feel like they are home. I don't know what the other shifts are like but if I have another late night arrival, this is where I'm coming. read more

A group of us had to go to work at 4:30am!!!! Luckily, there was a WH close to our hotel. I didn't know this but I take it all WH are open 24 hours. I had the All Star Special Breakfast (minus the waffles) - two eggs, sausage, toast and grits. The grits really stood out. I have had grits at Cracker Barrel and other southern restaurants - the grits here are at a new level. I think it is because the grits are home cooked (the cook/chef said he didn't serve instant grits) and full of flavor (in other words, smoothered with butter and other flavors). Hmmm, take something healthy and make it a heart-stopper :) Service was very friendly - waitress and cook were cracking jokes with us. Food was good and cheap. I stopped in to this location after seeing the Jurassic quest and was hoping to share the Waffle House experience with my friend from up north. Our server was a kind woman who's name tag read Queen. My fiancé and I both ordered the $5 menu biscuits and gravy with eggs. I get half way through my plate and notice a strange antennae looking thing and I attempt to rationalize it in my head until I uncover my worst fear. An actual roach has shared it's guts and full body in my gravy.... I ran to the bathroom to throw up, my fiancé stopped eating and my friend from up north did as well. But the cook assured me after I came out of the bathroom that the meal was on the house...no kidding its on the house and what a treat! He was concerned his managers would be upset if he cleared two tickets so just gave my friend a discount. Never mind the roach in my gravy, his managers would be upset about two free meals due to bugs. Please steer clear. read more
