I have mixed feelings about Waffle House, but it's not about the food or the service. If you're familiar with Waffle House, you know what to expect. The food is good, and the service can be hit or miss--sometimes exceptional and other times pretty bad. In my experience, both the service and food were on the exceptional side during my last visit. My main issue with Waffle House, as a company, relates to their to-go orders. They charge a 20% fee, along with an additional 10% for the person who prepared the food--which adds up. On top of that, they still expect a tip, effectively increasing the total bill by about 30%. I just don't think that's fair. I understand why this might be becoming the new norm from an economic standpoint, but as a customer, I don't have to agree with it. Having previously worked as a server and relying on tips, I get why companies try to add these extra charges. However, all of this could be easily resolved if organizations simply paid their workers more fairly. read more

My friend and I had an awful dinner experience at some "upscale" $$$ restaurant so we decided to go to Waffle House for redemption time lol I'm biased because I LOVE Waffle House. It's simple yet comforting and great value, and also, we don't have Waffle House where I live. We show up on a Sunday at like midnight, or maybe even 1am. The cook greets us in a warm and nice way, and lets us know the server is on her break. He goes out of his way to clean a table for us and gives us menus. I'm already feeling 10x better and forgetting the disappointing dinner we had! I get a waffle and grits, and that was enough to make my night ^_^ read more

I ordered the Double Hashbrowns with cheese and ham with a ham, egg, cheese sandwich on grilled Texas toast. Let me tell you it was delicious. The staff was very entertaining and professional at the same time. The ambiance well what can I say it was Waffle House. They played some great music while I was there. Waffle House is always dependable. Case in point, the Waffle House index. Is the food amazing? No. Is the restaurant clean? Also no. But can you rely on them to deliver greasy and delicious food? Yes. My two friends, my husband and I made this our last stop before flying back to Newark since we don't have Waffle Houses at home. It was a Sunday at around 10 and it was pretty full. We managed to nab the last table and shortly after, there were a few parties waiting. I had the hash browns with cheese, scrambled eggs, and sausage. It did not disappoint. It was everything I was looking for out of a trip to the Waffle House. No complaints here! read more

Waffle House for breakfast? Absolutely. Getting a burger for breakfast at Waffle House? Now that's mixing it up--and they absolutely killed it! I went rogue and ordered the burger instead of the classic breakfast, and let me tell you, it was fantastic. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. The best part? It was super affordable. You get a lot of bang for your buck here. The service was great too. The staff was friendly, quick, and made me feel like a regular even though it was my first time in. The breakfast club decided to go to Waffle House on Sunday to have breakfast of course ! We went in the early morning and there was ample parking and a couple of guests were already dining . The first thing I noticed was how cold it was in the restaurant. The two men sitting across from us had long sleeves on (that should have been a sign). The tables looked like they could have used another wipe down. I ordered a waffle and side of bacon , another ordered capped and smothered hash browns and the third ordered eggs over easy with toast and bacon with a side of mushrooms. 4:50 AM 15/MAR/22 This Waffle House claims to be open all day, but is not. The doors are locked and this is the second day in a row. However, the blinds are open today and they were not yesterday. I believe every customer deserves consistent hours and/or an explanation for the store being closed. If they don't want my money and generous tips for their mediocre service than that's all they had to say. I'm giving 1 star although I wish I could give zero. Sat down empty restaurant and waiter was in bathroom by the time she came out the lobby was full and we was already sitting there and the cook even said we was there first and proceeded to take everyone else's order but ours. The only reason we got drinks is cause the cook got them for us. As of writing this review I have sat for 25ish minutes without my order being taken. Thanks Waffle house read more

Parked in this parking lot and I had to beg the tow company not to take my car away. No visible signs saying I couldn't park there and the cop outside didn't say anything when I got out. Came back and was told to apologize to the employees who were standing outside watching instead of working because I was "stealing their business" but there were plenty of empty spots because this location blows. Shoutout cookout next door and their employees. read more

Went here after the Eagles concert. There was ONE person behind the counter with lots of people waiting for something... anything... coffee water anything. after a few minutes another person came out in front and sat her butt on the food prep board. . I assume the cook. Both servers/cook looked like they needed to shower and put on clean uniforms. The whole place was filthy with food scraps and dirty empty booths/counter seats. We Sat at the counter and waited for over twenty minutes without so much as a "welcome to waffle house"!!!! After hoping for coffee and food without success we left!!! The City Health Department should close this filthy disgusting poorly managed place down!!! E-coli heaven!!! read more

Arrived at the Waffle House around 7:45 AM and got seated right away. Right when we walked in we were instantly freezing. The temp had to be set at atleast 50°. It was so cold. We all ordered waters but no one drank any because it was so darn cold and it was ice water. It would be a different story if It was 2pm and packed with 90° heat outside but it was so early!!!! Everything else was fantastic. I ordered a hash brown bowl and liked it a lot but couldn't finish it because it was so much! Our server was so sweet and was new to the job but she did great -- didn't catch her name.. If you decide to eat here (which I recommend) maybe bring a sweater. read more

The only stars are because, despite the first time that I've ever had rubbery bacon at a waffle house, after picking it off of my Texas Bacon Cheesesteak, the sandwich was...pass-able. 15 minutes after arriving and sitting at the bar, we placed our order. 33 minutes later we watched them place 10 orders onto plates. When I saw them go elsewhere, I inquired. "Oh, they haven't started yours, yet!" Wtf...half hour to even drop our easy crap on your stupid grill? Useless place. Forget it. read more

Was so disappointed..walked in around 9ish tonight and 3 tables were occupied by a total of 7 people in the whole and my husband and I sat down...we sat for 15min without being recognized and sitting right across from a occupied table and right behind another occupied table!! Never a be with you in a minute not even a glance!! We have been going to that Waffle House for over 14 years..we had our first date there!! Sooo sad and disappointed we ended up leaving! We understand the staff shortage but to have some manners and at least acknowledge someone is absolutely uncalled for and just plain rude! Hope this gets recognition and some corrections are made so we can continue to enjoy Our favorite Waffle House. read more

Don't bother spending money here. I was here for a Togo order at 3pm. I was overcharged for a burnt waffle and badly burnt Texas toast. Over $10 for toast, one waffle and a side of gravy. Also, I guess syrup Togo isn't standard as I didn't get any to eat my dry burnt waffle With! S2.50 alone on inedible toast! Horrible place! Not worth it!!!! read more

I've only stopped in here after a drunkin night of debockery. It is a good 24/7 joint that you can get breakfast served anytime you like. It is usually pretty darn clean and usually has fast service. Staff will great you as soon as you walk in the door....I think its their policy. read more

Life saver after every night out. Food always cooked to perfection. And service is amazing. The servers are definitely patient as mostly it's parked on the weekends with drunk college students. Don't worry, it does not get nasty or anything, people are just mostly in their booths but you can overhear funny convo. If you get tired of tolly ho, Waffle House is your best bet. read more

This is the closest Waffle House to me. I love Waffle House but I will not be returning, due to the fact that I ask for my hash browns to be extra crispy and they always come out raw... can I pay money to ensure they are crispy?? I take my mom to eat after Dr appointments in that area and most of the ladies at this location go above and beyond. The food is always good and reasonably priced. My mom is disabled and they help by holding doors and assistance getting seated. read more

Tonight we had a server named Lindsey and she was the sweetest, most attentive waitress I have ever had at a restaurant. This waffle house is the closest to downtown and is always a nice place to go to after a night downtown. The dollar menu angus steakburger and the egg biscuit are probably the things that are the best value here. read more

It feels like the kind of "hopping" bar you imagined as a kid, with colored lights, loud energy, and retro knickknacks that look straight out of your grandparents' basement bar in 1986 in Milwaukee. It somehow hits the perfect balance between gritty and fun. And the food? Incredible. Everything tastes fresh and made with real ingredients. The pickles were on point, the burgers were outstanding, and the fries were loaded with toppings--honestly more toppings than fries--and I'm not mad about it at all. My new fave spot when I visit.

I had a Chiflet burger & we shared crinklecut fries & sweet potato fries. The staff was very attentive & patient with us (we had lots of questions) Really neat place with super-cool decorations & a play-list right out of the Nineteen Eighties. Will be back - it's in a really cool area of downtown.

Drink specials are: Monday - 2-for-1 wells Tuesday - $1 off any tequila + $3 tequila sunrise Wednesday - $1 off any whiskey Thursday - $2 pints & $1 off wells O'Brother Smokehouse operates out of the same building and is typically open from 4 pm on from Wednesday through Sunday. Their loaded fries are unbeatable. The lettuce wraps are my absolute favorite. The Fishtank has string band music every Sunday from 7-9 pm with no cover that involves a rotating cast of local and regional musicians. Monday Melancholia is every third Monday evening. No cover. It's headed out by a local musician who plays nothing but sad songs, on the accordion! Definitely worth stopping in for. They're also hosting a monthly burlesque event featuring local and regional performers starting in December that I'm really looking forward to!

This visit marked our third time at OBC Kitchen, and once again, it did not disappoint. This time we experimented with timing and booked an early reservation at 2:45 pm on a Saturday. We crossed over into the dinner menu and discovered something wonderful: the service and ambiance were even better than the busier evening hours after 6 pm. The staff was exceptionally attentive. Every dish and cocktail option was explained thoughtfully, which I appreciate, especially because I enjoy cocktails that come with a bit of theater. When drinks are presented with care, described well, and executed beautifully, the experience becomes part performance, part craft. Here, they delivered perfectly. The food, as always, was superb. We shared several chef selections including Beef Tallow Fries, Southern Grouper, Bacon in a Glass, and the Cola-Braised Short Ribs. Each dish was rich, flavorful, and confidently executed. Dessert continued the celebration with the Churro Cheesecake, and to our delight we were also gifted the Warm Buttermilk Donuts, which felt like a small act of culinary generosity. In a departure from my usual Manhattan and Old Fashioned flights, I tried a Bloody Mary and The Cure, both excellent and beautifully balanced. At this point I can confidently say OBC Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants in the country. The consistency, creativity, and hospitality make every visit memorable.
