I have left glowing reviews for Cheddar's before, but tonight we went and it was not without some challenges. We got there early for dinner/ about 4:30 on a Monday. The hostess seated us immediately but kind of prepared us by saying, " we are very short handed tonight! Sorry!" Our server was Brittany and she was awesome, took our orders and brought beverages. The appetizers were a bit long in coming but that's was understandable if they were understaffed. They finally arrived and were excellent. My wife's favorite thing from any restaurant is Cheddar's Monte Cristo sandwich, when that arrived with my order it was pretty overcooked. My wife was visibly disappointed and the server asked if everything was okay. My wife pointed out her sandwich was burnt and Brittney was quick to offer a second try with a new Monte Cristo. She took the sandwich and left the French fries for her to nibble on while she waited. The manager came to our table and reassured us another was being prepared and asked if she would like something else while she waited. All very nice and extremely accommodating. The second sandwich arrived and was much better than the previous one. They even served it with another order of fresh fries. The server continued to check on us regularly and provided "to go" drinks with our check. Thank you Cheddar's for correcting a mistake without making excuses and offering a replacement entree. It was very much appreciated and we can't wait to return. Brittney deserves a lot of credit for working during a short staffed with an excellent attitude, and for noticing the disappointment in the Monte Cristo and offering to fix it without hesitation. read more

We waited over an hour for our food and most of my party was dissatisfied with their meal. Several of our plates were left untouched because it was cold or bland. We asked the host for a table and then were forgotten about for at least 10 minutes - eventually we just asked the bartender for a high top. The restaurant was not busy in the slightest, and yet we waited so long. Our server barely checked on us and forgot several of our plates as well. Will not be going back :( read more

We tried the Walton Rd. Lexington Ky location again thinking things would have improved but no. Our service was fair at best. We ordered onion rings for a table of 3 and waited 30 minutes. They finally came out and were cool not hot. The GM came by to say is everything okay and I said no. He took the onion rings off the check. Then one of two house salads appeared. We hoped the other house salad would show up soon. It did about 10 minutes later. Then our bread showed up about 5 minutes later because it was baking according to the waiter who was also the bartender but had all the high tops and the bar to take care of. The food was fair at best. The potato my daughter ordered was wrong. We had to flag down the waiter to get her one with no sour cream which we had asked for in advance. We asked for more napkins and never did get those. We want to like this location because it is close to our house but they just can't get it together. This was our second time going here giving it a second chance from the not good last visit. The food was good a hot this time, we both got the country fried steak with mashed potatoes n gravy and then I got the side salad also. The steaks were a good size with a fairly light breading but just a little too much breading for me, made it look bigger, but the amount on the mashed potatoes was a small scoop a little disappointed in that and the gravy was hot but it need a little more seasoning so I sprinkled a little salt and pepper on it which fix that. So I am going to bump up the stars a little but still not a 5 star. Oh and as always the chips and queso dip were awesome the salsa is nasty in my opinon and the bread rolls are good but just reminds me of eating a glazed doughnut not for me for lunch or dinner. The waitress was great this time, sorry don't remember her name but she was on top of it with drink refills and stopping and checking on us. Granted they weren't real busy when we were there today but was a better experience this time. Cheddar's is a restaurant that has something for everyone and is typically pretty tasty. My mother and I visited last night before I headed to the airport. The croissants were the highlight of the show as always. My mom's order was wrong two times and ended up with flavorless grilled chicken tenders (not what she ordered). My fish and shrimp combination was delicious but they were stingy on side portions. I've had it at other cheddars with better portions. read more

The food is good and their prices are extremely reasonable. They still bring out the croissants with honey butter for free which is nice. I haven't been here in a year or more and I was surprised at how low their prices are compared to other similar restaurants. Everyone has raised their prices so much. It's a solid choice to take the family out to dinner but if you are a foodie like me you will probably be disappointed. It's very basic and the cook doesn't pay attention to detail. read more

Every single time I come to this Cheddars location my food is fresh. My order is correct and the service is super friendly. I've only ever ordered to go, so I can't really say anything about how operations run inside the facility, but if it's anything like the delivery or the pick up, I'm sure it's wonderful. Before I could even check in for my online pick up order, someone came out to check my name and to make sure my food came out before the time it was supposed to be ready. 10 out of 10 would recommend eating at this location if you are a fan of Cheddars. read more

We got lunch there on Father's Day. The place seemed surprisingly empty, given that it was a holiday. They led us to the bar area for some reason. I noticed the health rating on the way to the seat--82, bright red. Ugh. After talking with the rest of the party at the table, whether we wanted to stay or not due to the health score. We decided to order "safe" foods and risk it. We got chicken tenders and fries, essentially. Food was okay, nothing special. The service was friendly but very slow. Usually this Cheddar's would rate 4 stars or higher. I like the food here and the atmosphere is really pleasant; a nice place to talk that isn't too noisy. Service is usually rather efficient . On October 14, I went there with a friend after we taught a class at a nearby library. We arrived a little after 3 pm for a late lunch. The place wasn't the least crowded. The waiter was nice and very competent. However, the food took forever to arrive. We inquired about the status and were told that the chef had left and that the manager was running the kitchen (it was implied that he or she was doing everything to prepare the meals alone). We were very tempted to walk out as my friend had an appointment later in the afternoon. Eventually, the food arrived. Mine was ok, but my friend noted the lettuce on her meal wasn't very cool. I hate leaving poor reviews because my first job was as a server in college but my visit yesterday to this restaurant has made me to this. Firstly, I walk with a cane due to a recent cancer surgery. The hostess literally took our family to the furtherest table in the restaurant and down stairs. We walked past at least a dozen tables to get there that were empty. Food: Pasta was over cooked... it was gummy. Green beans had so much sugar it was like they were candied. Spinach dip was watered down. First off the service was poor. We waited on refills way too long. The waitress was super slow. i ordered lemon pepper chicken breast with rice and mashed potatoes potatoes. The madhed potatoes were COLD!! The rice was COLD! The only thing that was semi hot was the grilled chicken. The portions are horrible. My boyfriend got the fish and shrimp pl and he got 3 small shrimp that said large on the menu, 3 small pieces of fish it looked like they took one filet and cut i to 3 pieces. The part i enjoyed was the roll you get and the chips and queso for our appetizer. I had heard good things about this restaurant but i dont know how. also i was on the way to the bathroom and 3 men 2 who stood in the doorway of the bathrooms talking. Cheddars is usually a hit or miss for me because I've probably gone over 50 times since I was a kid. Sometimes there service isn't great but also sometimes it's really good. You really don't know what you will get because there have also been times where the croissants are burnt and cold. But usually the food is good and it's very comfortable and clean inside. read more

Cheddars is a restaurant that serves good food at a good price. We were immediately greeted when we walked in. Seated right away and within a couple minutes we're being asked for our drink order. Our server was delightful, smiling and actually seemed happy to be waiting on us. I ordered my usual Cornmeal White Fish and substituted the fries and coleslaw for the Red Beans & Rice and Green Beans. My dinner came out with FIVE fish fillets. Wow! More than enough for me but I love to take the leftovers home because they reheat very well. She ordered the Bourbon Glazed Grilled Salmon with a Baked Potato and the Broccoli. The menu doesn't show it but you can get the dinner or lunch size serving. She sometimes forgets that so it was nice that our server asked which size she wanted. The lunch size is perfect for her. Her baked potato came with butter and sour cream but also some shreds of cheese on top. Our granddaughter got the Lemon Pepper Grilled Chicken with Double Fries for her sides. This entree comes with two large pieces of chicken breast grillled to perfection and seasoned with a lemon pepper seasoning. She has ordered this the last couple of times and it seems to be on its way to becoming her favorite. I need to add that we were served three croissants with a honey butter while we waited a short time for our food. And we all received a second drink before we were half done with our first one. I honestly like Cheddars. They offer a variety of food options so family members will have lots to choose from. If you can feed three people for $50 you are doing well especially considering we took enough home for another meal or two. I came here for the first time in years with friends. I got the sirloin with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. The dishes were excellent. They also brought out croissants with honey butter drizzled on it. They were hot and fresh and soft. They are also very messy so I ate mine with a knife and fork. I just don't understand how restaurants are charging more and serv8ng lower quality food. It took 40 minutes to get our food, steak was the wrong size, and we ordered a plain cheeseburger that was loaded. The spinach dip was not edible. They also forgot my MIL Cole slaw. When we mentioned the loaded cheeseburger, they literally took it to the back, noticeably scraped the topping off, and gave it back. In this economic climate, people aren't eating out as much. When they do, they want to get what they pay for. The manager and server were really kind in fix8ng the issues, but I would like to eat out and not have to deal with poor quality. 5/23/20 I came here for lunch after a funeral with friends and had the buffalo wrap with a side salad and the spinach dip with chips as appetizer, and it was delicious! I highly recommend everything and anything. The food is always so delicious! Our waitress took great care of us during this new opening restaurants' after all the quarantine time. They're doing a great way to organize their restaurant to keep us happy and healthy abiding by the 6 foot distance rules. read more

The service was lacking, but decent. This might have been a manpower issue though as the place was only moderately busy. The biggest issue by far was the food. I ordered a top sirloin, loaded baked potato, green beans with sweet tea. The sweet tea was almost clear and not very sweet. The green beans were not edible at all and were ultimately left in the serving bowl. They were rubbery to the point that the fork could not pierce them to pick them up to eat, and the few that I managed to scoop up to try did not have a good taste at all. They were deemed not consumable and left alone. The "loaded" baked potato was drier than the Sahara Desert. The butter, sour cream, bacon bits and grated cheese total amount was so little that it did not even cover the top surface of the potato itself. So, the first two bites were good, while the other 95% of the potato was so dry that my dining companion even commented on it from across the booth! The steak was cooked med-well, although I ordered med-rare, and it tasted decent. Despite that it was overcooked some, the steak was not bad, just nothing at all to "write home about." The sweet roll they brought out in the beginning was very good though. I have eaten at other Cheddar's before, and they were never like this one in London KY. Typically this is one of our "go to" restaurants when are wore down from the week. However, not sure if it is the reopening after COVID or what, but this was by far one of the worst food experiences I have had hear. In the past when I have ordered the chicken pot pie, the crust was golden brown and the veggies were hot and crispy. This time the crust was aoggy and burnt, and the veggies inside were mushy. The veggies were so mushy they broke down in the thick chunky sauce inside. The chicken within tasted like canned tuna and was dry as leather. Customer service of the watress was the ONLY saving grace about this visit. FYI, this was assembled and sent out by the GM. Removing this restaurant from our go to list, such a shame. read more

Normally I wouldn't write a review for a chain since they seem to fair well by themselves but I think I'll write one for this location... The food and everything else was very Applebees(esqe) so no worries there. Why I am writing this is because of the waitstaff. These.people.were.AWESOME! It was like watching a professional juggling team as they maneuvered customers through the venue, handled the To-Go orders, brought people their food very quickly, and they did all of this smiling, joking, and looking like they were enjoying what they were doing. Thankfully a Karen in the Wild did not appear to ruin things. Anyway, from a family that has second-generation wait staff, the employees at this Cheddars we're magnanimous! Tipping our normal 20% didn't seem like enough. And we were able to feed 5 people for $82 and that included the tip. After a tractor show in Paris Kentucky where we bid and won a food gift card for Cheddars on July 27, 2018. We decided to order the large 20 oz bone in sirloin steak and share the one meal which was plenty of food for us. We ordered salads and a baked potato, and broccoli casserole as our sides. The only odd thing was Cheddar's does not serve any bread or rolls to accompany your meal. Most other restaurants in Lexington automatically include bread with your meal. The steak was good but not the best steak in town. The sides were good and satisfying but I would in the future order a different entree. read more

Our most recent visit to Cheddar's was underwhelming. We had not visited in a while and we were craving those cheese fries! I am pleased to report that they were the best part of our meal, hot and cheesy with plenty of bacon. Unfortunately, the rest of our meal was not as satisfying. First of all, the menu has changed. Gone is the yummy chicken tortilla soup that I used to enjoy with my veggie plate. No longer can I enjoy delicious Dijon chicken and mushrooms. Instead, I ordered the Smokehouse burger, and my husband ordered chicken fried steak. We both had some issues with our food. I was sad to say that my beloved broccoli casserole must have changed the recipe. It was mostly broccoli, rice, and cheese, and it was not even hot. My burger was also barely warm. My husband said his green beans were cold and the breading way outweighed the steak in his chicken fried steak. The food was edible, but nothing we would look forward to eating again. I hope Cheddar's will work to reclaim their former status as a sought out destination for a Sunday afternoon meal. read more
