I didn't get my eggs as ordered (asked for sunny side up and got scrambled) and I tried the smoked sausage, which is a meat option, but it wasn't very good quality sausage and possibly over smoked? I usually like smoked sausage and this wasn't it. Benny was very good and the biscuit was spectacular which, in Alabama, is an important thing. Will be back again, and will definitely think of taking visiting guests for breakfast here. A good addition to the lineup.

That said, the restaurant sits right along the Black Warrior River, which offers a really pleasant view, especially from the patio. On a cool spring day like today, it's hard to beat outdoor seating here. Tuscaloosa is buzzing with football fans for the annual A-Day spring game, which adds to the energy around town. My better half ordered the shrimp and grits, and I went with the steak fajita bowl, minus the sunny-side-up egg. Even at my age, I can't do the runny yolk situation, I always ask for my eggs over hard. With that change, I'll say the fajita bowl jumped up to one of my top breakfast/brunch go-to dishes in town. Yes, I know it's technically brunch, but it was before 11 a.m., so I'm calling it breakfast. The shrimp and grits were solid, though the tails were still on the shrimp, which meant a bit of extra peeling at the table, my wife wasn't a fan of that part, but she still finished the dish and enjoyed it overall. Only minor gripe on the food side: ice seems to be a rare commodity here, I'd love a few more cubes in the water. But overall, the food was very good, the patio seating is absolutely the way to go, and the river view is fantastic.

if i could give this place, and specifically the white blonde "manager" that can't speak properly to customers and is missing teeth, a -10/10 I WOULD. not only is she disgusting and have absolute no class or follow ANY basic sanitary rules, but she also doesn't do her job or follow any rules in general. she has told customers they are "on break" during open hours of the day while she sits on the curb and smokes cigarettes, turning people away and denying online orders that have been placed. while she does her job, very poorly, she swears and is a sloppy mess almost as if she is inebriated. you've probably seen her out there on university blvd smoking cigs, not doing her job, hackling innocent customers or have had a problem with her yourself. i've seen her dealing with cops outside of her job and I truly do not know how she is still in position of "management " at this place, let alone has a job in general. anyways, truly sad to see such a staple place drive people away because of this nasty being. go to literally any other location if you would like decent service and to not deal with this terrible person!!!!!! read more

The meat was super dry and it was pulled so much as to be quite small and stringy. I find smoked chicken to be better when slightly larger chunks are part of the pulling process. Similarly, there was at least three instances of gristle so intense I had to spit it into my napkin. No offense to the pit master, but I think whoever was smoking this needed to take it off earlier and whoever was pulling it needed to check for inedible parts a bit more. None of this was enough to stop me from coming back for a second try at some point in the future. I will look to something else on the menu and update my review then.
