As a first time down south and in Alabama I had the opportunity to come to the Waffle House also for the first time. Not knowing what to expect I asked Natasha, the waitress and the cook what they suggested on the menu. Taking their suggestions I decided on the Philly cheese steak bowl over hash browns. Traditional breakfast for my lady and her daughter a bowl with a side waffle. Everything was delicious, simple inexpensive and served with southern charm. If I could give a place 0 stars I would. I had a long day and just needed a quick thing to eat and I waited two hours for a waffle. One waffle. I was one of the only 3 people in the establishment and I had no service. I asked for silverware and never got it. I asked for a refill on my water and she said to give her a minute because she's stressed out and then never refilled my water ever. There's 5 people working. Not to mention the place was absolutely filthy. None of the tables were clean, the cooking stations were disgusting. I'm so glad I didn't bother to eat there. I literally got up and left with no food. I understand it's Waffle House but comon. That was ridiculous. read more

The experience I had was disgusting!!! The security pushed me not once but twice and I wasn't even close to her. The waitress inside came up and inserted herself into our conversation and asked "are you talking about me" like no we were having a private conversation. This waitress was not even our waitress and she inserted herself into our business. Then she proceeded to tell the security guard that we needed to be kicked out. The security guard once again came up to us and took our plate away and told us we were done with our food when we were not. This is honestly so disgusting and disrespectful I will never return. My son was at an Alabama baseball camp and we ate here three times in a row. My son loves waffles. Lol. The two women there were absolutely precious, amazing customer service and treated us like family from the min we entered. The cook lady had a lot of pride in her restaurant and it showed! Absolutely awful. If the girl in the green hair/nose ring takes your order-might as well sleep there. We sat for 20 minutes at a dirty table just for her to finally come back out from wherever back room she was at and tell us to go back outside because the table is dirty?????? Then we wait another 15 minutes THENNNN she takes our order and THEN we wait for 25 minutes until someone who isn't even with us tells her we've been waiting and then she comes to tell us she will call our order out to the kitchen staff and that she will bring us our DRINKS! What can I say, its Waffle House, the go to place for a fattening day of indulgence for breakfast. I did go lite with the omelet, but also had the hash browns, sausage, and toast. Needed this kind of breakfast based upon the day and night before if you know what I mean. It was something I don't eat all the time but truly enjoyed the meal. read more

Went to waffle house in Tuscaloosa. Store #1184 on Oscar Baxter Dr.. Service was bad. Couldn't get a refill. Waitress walked by table several times and overlooked empty glass. Hashbrowns came out raw. Hashbrowns looked like they were prepped and put on plate. Sandwich was missing lettuce and tomato. Pattymelt smelled as if meat was spoiled. We never received a ticket then was overcharged as we paid to leave. Not recommended at all. read more

If I had the option, I'd give this one 2.5 stars. The good things are the location, right on the University Strip, the new facility, plenty of staff. The staff seem genuinely interested in doing a good job (not like LOTS of Waffle House folks). The menu is the usual Waffle House fare, so it is consistent as part of a national chain. Not so good: given that this location is going to attract a lot of traffic one would expect this to be a busy place. But, I think they are going overboard in rushing people thru. The staff was pushing to take our order even before we were seated. I understand that some people will see this as a positive thing-waiting less, etc. For me i felt that we were being rushed in and out. That is not to say that I expect a leasurely dining experience at Waffle House. I do expect to be able to eat in a less pressured environment. But, now on the strip we can all enjoy all of the smothered, covered, diced, sliced, chunked, punked, junked, doused, soused, sliced, spiced, peppered, soaked, skattered, splattered, sleasy, greasy stuff I'll most likely be back at some point... read more

This place is filthy. Period. The only positive is that the three meals were good. On average I eat at 7 or 8 WH's a month and this one is by far the worst. The negatives. Syrup on the window ledge, syrup bottle handed us was covered with syrup (waitress even had a bad expression on her face as if to say yuk as she placed it on the table) then why present it to a customer that way? I got up, walked to the counter and ask for a clean bottle and she couldn't find one. They were all sitting in a tray with a quarter inch of water for some reason and she tried to wipe one off for me. I refused and insisted to have a new bottle of sugar free syrup and another employee handed me one. Floor was like a slip and slide, visited the restroom to wash the syrup from my hands and it was filthy. Toilet not flushed, yellow water. Guess it wouldn't flush. Wallpaper pealing from the walls, poster on the floor, employees laughing loudly and carrying on with each other. Just not inviting like the other Waffle House's I visit. Showed up at Waffle House at 315am ordered food was told it would be a 30 minute wait and was ok with the wait got our drinks and a hour and fifteen minutes wait later didn't have a refill nor did the waitress come to our table. Had the cops called on us and told us we had to leave for no reason besides we were complaining about the wait along with everyone else. read more

Wow!!! What awesome service, wonderful food, polite and friendly staff!!! We had 27 people in our group and we were immediately greeted with a very polite gentleman (staff member) who opened our door and greeted us with "Good morning". The manager and waitresses were all equally polite and very friendly. From the time we entered this Waffle House to the time we left, they continued to be very attentive to the needs of all their customers, remained very friendly and had fast but wonderful service! Even with the demands of serving such a large group as ours, the food was cooked to perfection and these Waffle House staff members gave High Quality service that was Outstanding! Usually my experience at this Waffle House is awesome! It used to be my favorite in town, but my past few visits haven't been that enjoyable. The employees were acting as if there weren't customers in the restaurant. They were bickering back and forth with each other and being very loud. I was having a difficult time having my own conversation with the person I was eating with. I love Waffle House. But this location isn't what it used to be in terms of customer service. read more

Fantastic. Jackie and Anthony are easily my favorite employees. It gets busy on the weekend but the location is right next to Rounders and Red Shed plus across the street from Houndstooth. I just left.Please for your sake and health go somewhere else. I had the worst experience out of any restaurant on the strip. There were plenty of empty tables and there was no crowd. I sat in a front booth and was not waited on at all. We sat there for ten minutes without being acknowledged. While waiting we witnessed servers on their phones and standing around talking. To make things worse one server was behind the bar and had her shirt rolled up and belly exposed. Obviously this is far from sanitary. After being completely ignored we began to leave. However, upon standing we noticed another major issue. The booth appeared to be clean but that was not the case. My dress was ruined by an unknown sticky substance that left a huge and untreatable stain. So not only did my companion and I not receive service whatsoever, Waffle House managed to take my time and money for another dress to wear to the night's event. read more
