Got the small pepperoni pizza meatball combo. The pepperoni was a little tough to bite into with the sandwich, but otherwise it was delicious! The small subs are about 3-4" and while it's a little pricey for the size, it was still good and filled me up. Plan to spend around $10-20 per person. Parking for this location is very limited. You had a large number of cars circling the lot ready to pounce on someone leaving with many choosing to double park. I had placed my order through the app and it wasn't ready when I got there or even by the scheduled time. As far as the food it was typical of pretty much any Firehouse location. It's good but often messy with too much of the condiments. The staff was pleasant while I was waiting and the store was clean. If you are within walking distance and like their version of subs I would recommend but in the future I will probably order for delivery even if it will take an hour or choose another option instead. read more

Ordered gluten free for my child. The accepted my order, but then did not have the bread. That's fine, but then they wouldn't let me cancel the order. I spoke with the manager who was rude. I've NEVER had issues with Jimmy Johns and Mike's. Only Firehouse. Twice. It's like they don't care about their customers. There are lots of choices out there--choose better than Firehouse. Nice quiet medium size restaurant located not too far away from campus and on the Tuscaloosa strip. The servers were polite and attentive to take my order. Their bread is outstanding and there are many tasty options to choose from depending on what mood you're in or type of person you may be. You can make the meal a combo by adding chips and a fountain drink from their nice and newly updated drink machine. I love firehouse subs but the Tuscaloosa location is absolutely horrible. The wait time is actually unbelievable. It takes 40 minutes to get a simple sandwich made when there is only one other customer in the store. This is my favorite sandwich shop in town. I really like the selection of chips, cookies, and soft drinks. This time my boyfriend, father and I ate there. There was no ice but once I mentioned it to an employee they were very fast about fixing it (about 2-3 minutes even though they were a little busy). What I wasn't a fan of is they forgot my boyfriends order completely and we had to go up to the counter and ask about it and they weren't preparing it or anything. However, once mentioned they made it very fast and apologized several times. As you can see the customer service was great, even though there were small inconveniences the staff fixed them quickly and were very nice . I would 10/10 recommend. My wife ordered our food online. Arrived at pick-up time and no one could find my order. 3-4 employees working with only 1-2 customers in store. I checked the take-out area...no orders there. Employee said they didn't receive my online order. Showed them my confirmation email. Employee stated he would have to charge me again...I said no way. Finally an employee found my order behind the counter after 10 minutes or so of haggling. No matter what the sandwiches taste like...it's not worth this kind of "crappy" treatment. I don't know if these employees were just incompetent or having a bad day...or both. read more

reminds me of Quizno's, which went out of business. not really convenient to go here since subway has more locations in tuscaloosa, including one right on campus. i also did not like the way the general manager was treating his employees, given that they have to both prepare food and walk it out to customers . there was only one guy making sandwiches and like 10 people sitting at tables waiting to have it brought to them and the manager was spending more time berating the employee to go faster than actually helping. Like my fellow yelper Russ, I like this spot on the strip. I'm def. a Jimmy Johns fan but Firehouse has a different approach and type of sub. While Jimmy Johns is all about getting it to you fast (they deliver, firehouse does not), Firehouse toasts their subs and offers more of a diverse selection of subs. This was my first time going there this week and well I went again the next day. Both times I had their steak and cheese sub. It's really good, with onions, peppers and a tangy sauce. I recommend that. I haven't tried anything else but so far so good. People are nice there. Parking can be a problem at times, as the strip is dominated by undergraduates. Just be weary when parking in the lot because oh too many sorority girls driving 45,000 dollar Lexus, BMWs, and such might hit you! Trust me, I wish I was kidding, but I got sideswiped by a undergrad girl talking on her phone driving a 50k BMW Daddy bought her. But back to the subs. Nice location (just be careful of parking), fast service, and they have a Coke Freestyle machine. If you haven't seen one of these, then you are in for a treat. The machine has over 300 drinks available from your regular coke and diet coke to diet cherry vanilla Dr. Pepper, to every flavor of Fanta and Fanta Zero. I recommend Fanta Zero lime, it's really good and Zero calories. But ya, check out firehouse subs if you want something different than Jimmy Johns and/or want a step up from IMO lowly Subway. If I could give zero stars, I would!! I just sat down to eat and I couldn't even find the tuna on my sandwich! Usually it's piled high, but this time I had to look under the cheese before I ever even found it. I couldn't even taste the incredible stinky, flavorful fish I was eating!! And I was the only person in the store, so being busy is no excuse. (No surprises why it was empty in there!). To top of my pathetic excuse for a sandwich, I just called to mention it and was put on hold for what I suppose was meant to be forever... I finally hung up after a few minutes.
