Needing to pass through this little town on our way to Asheville, and reading the 3-star reviews here on Yelp, we decided to give them a chance. Walking in, it raised many memories of my youth: not fancy or particularly clean (especially the restrooms) yet greeted by pleasant smiles, friendly servers & staff, always more important to me/us! Our server was quick with taking and returning with our drink orders. She followed with attention to the time we needed to decide on our orders. Further, she was one of only 2 servers of a completely full dining room! I'm so disappointed I didn't get her name...I just didn't want to interrupt her industrious focus. Each of the 4 of us ordered a brunch item: eggs, omelette, and waffle with either country ham, bacon, sausage and/or grits, and coffee, that my husband stated "was the BEST!" A disappointment I do have is the condition of the restroom. We decided to stop in and try Waffle International for breakfast on our way to Columbia. The waffles were good, but the bad outweighed the good. Pulling up to this place you can tell that this is visibly a hole in the wall restaurant. The outside looked tired (old) and is not appealing to customers. But, it was still busy, as this is cited as the "best breakfast" in Whiteville. That is undeniably subjective. When you walk in you will notice that most things look dirty (except your table). The floor is sticky, the bathrooms are dirty, and the paint on the wall is peeling. It is also dark on the inside (poor lighting). Our food took about an hour to get to our table. My waffle was actually great, meanwhile my eggs and bacon and all of my dad's food were cold. This is because our server left our food that came out first sitting instead of giving it to us, and waited for my waffle to come out. We would have rather had that food first while it was hot, and I would have been fine with getting my waffle afterwards. That was disappointing. The food was not bad but it was not a clean environment. I didn't want to touch anything because it all looked dirty. From the floors to the walls and even the register. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. But I would not stop by again. Not sure how they have a 94.5 sanitation score. read more

If you're looking for a classic diner environment with quality breakfast/lunch cuisine, this is a great stop! Environment: There are tables and a breakfast bar to sit at in a clean environment. The service was fast and so friendly. They have a family-feel and despite being busy running from table to table, the servers were so kind and warm to their guests as well as to each other. It is refreshing to see smiling faces and positive feelings! Food: Good variety especially for a smaller place! Classics such as sandwiches, eggs/toast, waffles of course! Being from Pennsylvania, it was interesting seeing grits and liver pudding on a menu! I had the eggs, sausage, grits, and toast. Very satisfying and prepared fairly fast! Great service, and better food than waffle house. Had a bacon egg and cheese sandwich, was put together perfect, not greasy, and no soggy bread even tho i added pickles. We originally wanted iHop and decided to give this place a whirl. From the pictures and reviews, I didn't expect much. The food for the most part was average. The prices were good for the amount of food we received. It has a very small town feel, even down to the option of 'Liver Pudding' as a side. The staff seemed friendly, although inattentive for the most part, and they forgot my eggs, despite having ordered the "steak and eggs", and was told they would bring them, but they never came. Although, I'm confident had I asked again and waited I would have received them. I think this place is best suited for anyone who doesn't care about cleanliness and would be perfectly fine with staying at a motel that cost less that $35 a night. read more

This place has been here for years. Gone through new ownership, and menu changes. The food is still basically the same though. On the greasy side, but still worth a try. Depending on the time of day I like the chicken strips, onion rings, and texas toast. Everything is on point but you could pat enough grease out of the onion rings to fry a whole other meal. We stopped on way home from OIB. The staff was friendly and attentive. The waffles are amazing...especially the pecan waffle! This restaurant is very family friendly and didnt take long to be served. We would recommend it and will keep it in mind for future beach trips! read more
