Although we love her dearly, she was wreaking havoc in our house- the kids were scared of her, she was making a mess of the house and yard, and quite honestly we had zero control over her. She wouldn't stop barking at my husband, and I was covered in bruises from her jumping on me constantly. We were fed up and desperate, so we hired a trainer who came to our house- long story short, she charged us a lot of money, and we got nowhere. She was a positive reinforcement only trainer, and it basically just made our dog obsessed with performing for treats. In the absence of treats she did not follow any commands, and she'd break the command as soon as she was rewarded. I do think strictly positive reinforcement might work for some, but not all. We opted for a new solution, and I found Dogs by Doug online, with good reviews. Upon our consultation, I got the feeling he understood exactly what Bruna needed, and he recommended a four week board and train program. It's always a risk leaving your dog with a stranger for four weeks, it requires a lot of trust. I instantly felt like I could trust him, and you can tell he really cares for his client dogs and remembers all of them. He sacrifices a lot to constantly have dogs boarding in his home at overlapping times. Well, fast-forward four weeks, and Bruna is home. We instantly noticed a difference in her overall behavior. He told us he was going to teach her to relax, and that is literally what he did. She has been responsive to all of her commands, and at times when she breaks a command or does an undesired behavior, we now have the tools to deal with it. Walking her on a leash has become a great experience. She walks at our side at our pace, no longer dragging us down the sidewalk. I am beyond impressed with Doug's ability. You can tell he's a master of his craft, with lots of experience. He did his job with Bruna, and now it is our responsibility to keep up with the training. We are going to try our very best, and follow up later this summer! We HIGHLY recommend Doug. Our household is entirely different, at peace again and we got to keep our good girl (and our sanity). I am writing to recommend Doug, who recently trained our 10-month-old pitbull mix, Lucas. Before…read moretraining, Lucas was difficult to control and didn't follow commands, mainly because of his size relative to our three smaller dogs. After a month of training with Doug, Lucas is now trained on all commands and the e-collar. Since Lucas has been back home, he listens very well and has a much better relationship with our other dogs! Most importantly, it was clear that he loved Doug. Doug was an excellent trainer for Lucas and our family. He is extremely patient with both dogs and humans and is incredibly knowledgeable about all things dogs! He loves what he does, and it shows. I am so grateful to have met Doug and highly recommend him for any behavior or training issues your dog may have.

We were also told that the grooming would be recorded so that we could watch the session if anything weird happens. When we picked up our dogs, it became clear that the boy's grooming was incomplete. He had little knots on his head and a large knot on his tail, as well as a new bald spot on his chest. When we spoke to the groomer about it, she said that he was difficult and wouldn't sit still so that she couldn't complete it, and she said that the bald spot was a cowlick. This didn't *seem* right, because he gets groomed 4 times a year and in the previous place they never had any issues with him at all, and we pet his chest all the time and would've noticed a bald cowlick spot before. She was also not told that the girl was supposed to get a pretend grooming session at all, so that never happened. Since the boy has never been an issue before, we wanted to see the video that we were told we could see if we requested it (we wanted to know what might've set him off), but then we were told that we couldn't because the video system has been down for weeks. The manager I spoke with didn't care and just told me that the groomers rent out the rooms so they aren't responsible for what they do. We contacted the owner but she hasn't responded and instead blocked us on the company Facebook page. Best case, this place has terrible communication amongst the staff and the groomer, poor customer service, and a broken video system. I wouldn't trust my dogs there.

Kasey Nash, Joyful Paws Review I'm writing this review…read morefor Kasey Nash, Joyful Paws, because she is a superb trainer and I'm very grateful that she trained our dog Daisy to become a service dog. Daisy is a mini labradoodle and was 2 1/2 when she began training with Kasey. Previously she had had two intermediate classes at the K-9 Connecticut Education Center. To summarize, in our first session Kasey explained in detail what would be involved, and stressed the importance of my involvement. Daisy had 20 lessons spread out over 6 months. Lessons took place in Kasey's very well equipped basement, Home Goods, Target, Petco, and Cabela Sports. Kasey sent detailed notes after each lesson on what and how to practice, and how to take commands to new levels. Daisy bonded with Kasey the first day, and became very excited at even the mention of "Kasey". After a 5 week evaluation period she received her "Service Puppy in Training Vest" (a proud day). Approximately five months later, Daisy did a fantastic job on her service dog test which lasted more than two hours. Daisy's primary task was location assistance and guidance. She learned to guide me through a department store such as Home Goods, stop at curbs outside, and more. To name just a few commands: Left, right, forward, outside, button, here, wait. Kasey's method was to explain a new command, demonstrate it with Daisy, then teach me to perform the task with Daisy. Lots of treats were used! Before the next lesson, Daisy and I practiced the new commands extensively, at least three times a week along with previous commands. To give you a few examples of Kasey's teaching, we spent an hour or so getting on and off the glass elevator at Cabela Sports. Daisy learned elevator etiquette and got over fear of accelerations and abrupt stops. The techniques I learned from Kasey allowed me to build on many commands during our practice between lessons. To name a few, elevator techniques were used to teach escalators. "Outside" was extended to "Back" and "Find the trail" while hiking. For fun, during one lesson, Kasey taught Daisy to push a "door open" assistance button. This took less than half an hour to my amazement. A year later Daisy still remembers this "button" command. Kasey organized a number of field trips with her other dogs in training: Mystic Aquarium and a Scavenger Hunt to name two. Kasey wrote an "Attestation Letter" about Daisy's training which was instrumental in getting service dog approval for Aer Lingus and later for EuroStar (train to UK). I highly recommend Kasey Nash to anyone considering Service Dog training.

I immediately recognized she has skills way beyond mine and has so much knowledge of dog training and working service dogs. Far beyond most trainers. I am so impressed with her that I asked her to produce and begin training my next service dog for me when my current girl retires. Joyful Paws is AMAZING!

I cannot say enough great things about Canine Behavioral Services, they have created such positive change in my two dogs and allowed for them to grow and flourish in our home! Brian continues to support us even after the completion of the program which has been incredibly helpful as we continue to maintain a balanced household for the dogs.
