I have never run into something as unprofessional as this while Scheduling appointments. The person was downright argumentative and kept on telling me to call a different place it was like they didn't want any work at all. Seeing the previous description of this place, I can see why they are only rated one star. Really abysmal Performance.

During COVID, she became very ill and was placed on hospice. After caring for her at home for 9 months, we were advised to find a long-term care facility. I briefly placed her at another facility in San Rafael, but knew within hours it wasn't the right fit. Finding South Marin was a turning point. My mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer, kidney failure, and dementia. The care, compassion, and respect she's received here have been exceptional. A special thank you to Kelly, the social worker, who is knowledgeable, supportive, and truly cares. Carina, the activities director, is also wonderful and brings so much kindness to the residents. All the nurses, assistants, and staff have been wonderful. I never imagined putting my mom in a SNF, but I feel very lucky she's at South Marin. As a former long-term care volunteer ombudsman, I also want to add some perspective. I've seen reviews mentioning delays in care. The reality is that staffing shortages are a widespread issue across the industry due to policy and funding challenges. That said, the staff here consistently do their best under difficult circumstances. Based on both my personal experience and professional background, I can confidently say South Marin Health and Wellness is a top-notch facility. Thanks team, I appreciate all of you!

Their PT (what she tends to need most) is terrific - the PT therapists seem to experience little turnover as the same individuals have provided PT for my mom over several stays. Despite being very busy, the social workers are also very helpful. And Dr. Susan Nguyen (the hospitalist there) is wonderful - caring, smart, and on it. Rehab isn't fun, the facilities are all really busy and frustrations are inevitable. But we will keep requesting South Marin when my Mom needs it b/c it's the best around.

They have fewer PTs than other places I've visited. You will likely have a full hour with a PT, but the time will be shared with another client. It really puts a lot of pressure on the PTs, from what I've experienced, who can't be in two places at once, and so not an ideal experience for a client. Both PTs I've worked with are quite good (Ariel and Kim) thoughtful and professional. The entrance is located inside the lobby of an orthopedic surgical practice in San Rafael. Equipment is fine, but much of it is older & dated. Not as state of the art as other local practices. My last practice had an app & videos to track daily progress and I could schedule online, but Select gives paper print outs for new exercises & makes appointments in person. A mixed experience, but it's difficult to not pay significantly out of pocket for PT, or to find a practice that's in-network, (there are fewer and fewer PTs covered by insurance) so in that regard, I'm thankful Select is a solid option.

I have been seeing PT Mike Mottola at Sport & Spine Therapy of Marin, doing rehab for total reverse…read moreshoulder replacement surgery. Thanks to Mike's expert treatment, my shoulder is progressing well. What sets Mike apart in the PT arena is his combination of technical skill and genuine caring for his patients' recovery. From our first session, it was clear that he has extensive knowledge of anatomy and rehabilitation techniques, and is able to explain them so that I can understand what to do and, importantly, what not to do. He masterfully developed a personalized treatment plan that managed to tailor the PT regimen so that I can strengthen my shoulder without aggravating my degenerative spine condition. At each session, Mike begins with soft tissue mobilization to reduce the scar tissue in my shoulder, and as a result, my post-surgery range of motion is now excellent, with an absolute minimum of scar tissue impeding movement. Even though the Sport and Spine facility is quite understaffed at the moment and he's got to juggle 2-3 patients at a time, Mike carefully monitors my exercises and makes adjustments as needed, ensuring that I am achieving the proper positioning so as not to risk further injury. One of their PTs just left, and I understand that it's not easy to fill her spot. I do hope he gets another certified PT in soon though, because it's otherwise an excellent facility, and Mike's overload of patients is far from an optimal set up. Meanwhile, he maintains both good humor and really superb care. In sum, thanks to Mike's care and the thoughtfully tailored PT program he devised, I've seen significant improvement in my mobility and pain levels, and my strength is finally returning. My shoulder surgeon is pleased with the progress, and I am eagerly looking forward to resuming normal activities. Mike's expertise and dedication to his patients are top of the charts. 5 stars and huge applause for Mike Mottola!

He helped to re-pattern my arm, shoulder, back, and elbow so I now have greater range of motion and the tension that existed for so long in my arm has now relaxed.
