I brought my last dog here a Maltese, over 2 years ago, I brought her in in her travel bag because of the large loose dogs. The second time she came home I couldn't tell exactly what was wrong but she cried in her sleep, on our final (3rd) visit she cried all night long, something was going on here and it wasn't good. Our Dash was desperately in need of a grooming after being quarantined since March. We had waited one month for an appointment at another place (who shall remain nameless) that wanted to keep Dash in a cage for four hours until they could get to him (and that was with an appointment). No way were we going to subject Dash to that so we walked out. We asked around and WAGS came highly recommended. Dropped him off for his appointment (not a crate in sight)and he was ready one hour later. They did a magnificent job. Dash looks and feels like a puppy again! Reasonably priced too. I take my shihtzu there for grooming and what I like about them is they are very quick. It's only one hour! They did a spur job on my puppy, and he is very hard to handle. The body is perfectly cut! The only reason I give 4 Star instead of 5 is that the last groom the mustache was cut a bit uneven. And also they cut off my dogs eye lashes! I wanna cry because the time before they didn't. So I will remember to tell them not to cut the mustache too short and do not touch the eye lashes. Over all everyone is super friendly and nice and we are very happy here and are royal customer there. read more

WAGS Charlestown is the best dog walker and groomer around! My experience with them started a little over three years ago when I adopted my rescue dog, Ricky! I emailed them to get him a groom and they got him in and added some extra services since he had just taken a bus all the way from Texas. Soon after they became his walkers. Not only are they super flexible with my schedule, but the way they love my dog makes me so happy. I think Ricky actually loves Mel more than he loves me sometimes.... They are so accommodating, squeezing him in for a groom during a walk, switching around his schedule etc. and are truly the biggest dog lovers in town! The previous review is very much similar to my experiences. They are very good at what they do, and professional. But it feels like they don't want me as a customer. Every time I pickup my dog, I get critical feedback. They just don't ever seem happy to see me or my pup. Every time. And the cost fluctuates with little explanation around $10 - I inquired once and they really didn't have an explanation. And I understand things are tough for small businesses during this pandemic, but can't they add existing existing clients to a waitlist for an appointment upon re-opening without a lecture on how they need to reschedule 500 appointments? I'm a client, maybe I don't run a grooming business but I'm not stupid, I get it... save me the lecture. My dog recently has become terrified of this place (in the past year), so I don't know if they are mean to him too? I really don't understand the attitude by businesses who don't exhibit friendliness to their customers.. do you not want me as a customer? Did I ruin your day by coming in with my dog ? If they cannot accommodate, then they would tell you on the spot. At every visit we got critical feedback on our dog. Maybe they just hate grooming my dog...maybe it's just a Boston/north east lack of warmth thing, but it always felt like they wished we didn't go to them. Unfortunately for them, they always did an amazing job and their location is convenient for Charlestown. Prices are city prices. You don't know the total price until after the grooming is already complete. Our total varies by $10-15 almost every visit. Bottom line though, they do a good job and I'd still recommend them. WAGS has been a wonderful go-to for us since they opened! We originally went to Durty Harry's for our pup's nail trims and were thrilled when we still had that small town shop to go to when WAGS opened up. Nail trims are definitely not our pup's favorite (he's a bit of a baby), but once we get him in the door, they are trimmed seamlessly, leaving the parents and dog happy :) Most importantly, we trust WAGS - the team is honest, friendly, fun and incredibly caring - Brittany has been a joy to see every time we go in there, truly getting to know her customers (both dogs and parents!), making us all feel right at home. WAGS did such a good job with my pup! She is an older dog who always acts out at the groomers, but when I picked her up she was happily resting in the corner of the spa on a dog bed with other dogs walking around. They did a great job giving her a spring cut, and were careful around a growth on her ear that has caused complications in the past. The doggy spa is adorably decorated, and they carry a great assortment of dog treats- I ended up with an organic soft chew cookie that the pup loves. They book out pretty far in advance, but I was happy that they were able to squeeze us in on short notice due to a cancellation. Definitely plan at least a month in advance for an appointment! The only things I miss from my previous groomer was that they'd put bows and/or a bandana on the dogs after a grooming, and here there's no doggy day care before and after grooming, so plan to drop off at the appointment time and pick up shortly after-which is totally fair just something to be noted. Overall, a great experience and we will be coming back. :) read more

I think Wags is overrun right now with Covid puppies and could not give my pre-Covid puppy the attention he deserved. I took him two times in the span of two weeks (because Wags said we needed to go more often to get him used to it!) and paid a total of $130 and I don't think they ever actually cut his hair. 1 star for customer service, I just moved to Boston and it has been stressful to find a groomer for my dog. I found WAGS online and saw the great reviews and called to make an appointment. The first guy tried to make an appointment for me but then passed me on to someone else, he told me "we are not taking on any new clients now and this policy was just put in yesterday" What the heck is this? He did not even try to take my information down so when they do they can call me or give me recommendations for another place. Just didn't even want to try and help me. I brought my dog here for a grooming and was really disappointed. When I dropped her off, I told them that she is anxious with new things and noise sensitive to make sure she wouldn't have a bad experience. The staff ensured me they understood and then promptly picked my dog up and put her in the bath area. Not the gentlest of approaches but I figured, they know what they are doing, I'll just wait to see what happens. As this was the first time I had brought her here for a grooming, I waited outside downstairs for a few minutes to make sure it was ok. Less than 10 mins after dropping her off I could here her screaming. I was sitting inside my car. Figuring they would stop doing whatever they were doing that was causing her to scream, I waited a few mins more. To my utter horror, they didn't. In fact, when I went back inside, the groomer had put ear protection on and continued doing what she was doing. When I asked them to stop, I was told my dog was over reacting because she could see me and the groomer pulled the curtains closed. At this point I was so upset at the distress they were causing my dog, I asked them to give me back my dog. They didn't want to do that, assuring me they know what they are doing. I asked them to stop using the dryer on her, or to put it on a lower setting because it was obviously too loud for her and they said it only has one setting. So I asked them to stop using it and let her air dry. How you can say you care for animals when your behavior is causing an animal distress, and you don't stop doing it, is beyond me. I get that many dogs don't like getting groomed. But if you have to put ear protection on because a dog is screaming so loud, maybe you should find another way to do your job without making them scream. But that would mean they couldn't groom as many dogs in a day and they'd earn less money. I wouldn't recommend bringing your dog here. Probably one of the worst grooming experiences my dog has ever had. read more

I have 4 pups, two are mini schnauzers who need grooming consistently. They are now seniors and have always been very VERY stubborn and fresh at the groomers. I was so afraid when I first started seeing Brittany at her previous shop 5 years ago. My boy, Zander, has bitten every single groomer he ever had until he met his "Auntie Britt". He LOVES her so much, she's so gentle with him and all my babies and even takes extra care of him because he also doesn't like other dogs. My female Schnauzer is still fresh and causes a scene. She's VERY dramatic, I don't know where she gets it from () but Auntie Britt is always a saint. I feel bad for her every time but somehow she still loves them like her own. Not to mention the countless fosters that I have had that needed grooming. There need to be more amazing animal lovers like Brittany and the WAGS team. I wish Auntie Lindsay would start walking in Medford though. read more

Both of my dogs are on the skittish side and Katie and Britt really treat them as if they were their own dogs. I don't even know where to begin! WAGS is incredible. Our 10 month old Bernese Mountain Dog started walking with the WAGS walking club when he was just 14 weeks old. Lindsay and her amazing walking staff take such incredible care of him - always sending pupdates, whether it's a snap or Facebook picture. As a crazy dog mom, you want someone who adores your dog as much as you do when you can't be there during the day. That is exactly what WAGS does! They really love all of the dogs they walk and it shows! Lindsay is incredibly flexible with scheduling and extremely easy to reach if anything is ever needed! I can't say enough good things about her as a business owner and fellow dog lover! We've done both staff washes and grooms for our pup a few times and he always comes back looking great! Went in today to get my rescue pup groomed. He has had bad experiences in the past with groomers, and this was the first time I had ever taken him since we adopted him, so I was very nervous about the whole process. Brittany did a great job working with him and making me feel more comfortable. It turns out he was too anxious and nervous to finish the whole grooming process, but she did as much as she could and was really good about communicating with me. My pup and I had a GREAT experience at WAGS! I've had my 5 month old Cavalier for a month and it was time for a bath and a nail trim. The salon was super clean and cute! We were late for our appointment due to parking issues, but I felt welcomed when we walked in! When I returned after about an hour, my little guy was clean, smelling great and happy! My family Pup is 6 and on 3-29-18 she was groomed and Brittany brought to my attention ""something was wrong" with my dog.. i rushed her to the Vet..my poor Baby had zero Platelets. without platelets you can bleed to death .she was diagnosed with a severe Immuno Disease.. called iMT.. she had a heart worm check for lyme it was negative.. so it is systemic ideopathic.. oh what a month ..Grateful Grandma to our Dog Daisy. she is on tons of meds and doing great .. her Platelets are now normal..
