When we first adopted our dog, we had no idea how many training challenges we'd face, especially living in a busy seaport apartment building with a leash reactive dog. We felt completely overwhelmed at first. Enter James and Jake, who truly saved the day. From the start, they were patient, knowledgeable, and incredibly invested in our dog's success. The progress our dog has made in just six months is nothing short of amazing, night and day from where we started. Love, love, love Boston Dog Butlers!!!! This is my absolute favorite "doggy daycare" I've ever been apart of (I've been a member of 6 because I travel for work). I have been using them for about 7 months now, and couldn't be happier. They have several options for "doggy daycare", which include park play (play at the dog park), hiking field trips (off-leash hiking with your dog), and dog walks. They also offer several boarding options, grooming, and training. I have used both boarding options- where someone stays at my apartment with her, and where she stays at someone else's apartment with them. Usually it is an employee that your animal is familiar with (someone your dog sees weekly). Both options have been GREAT, I really love that they spend all day with your dog, and you get an individualized (long) report each night. It's really calmed my nerves whenever I have to go out of town because I know Baja is really taken care of. I have my dog scheduled for 2 park plays during the week, and 2 hiking trips during the week. The company comes into my building (and apartment)to pick her up, and drops her back off when they are done for the day. I find the prices to be quite reasonable, for the amount of time and the amount of effort and activities they complete with your dog. I really love the hiking trips, they have reinforced recall with my dog (now she listens to everyone, not just me). She gets to play in the snow in the winter, and in the water in the summer!! When they are done for the day, they refill the water bowl and wipe their paws, remove jackets, etc. They are quite flexible, they are always willing to change my schedule week to week (early walks to afternoon walks, or add/subtract days), if need be. The employees are all very friendly, all have my personal number, and are all ways available to help. I love the fact I get a report each and every day, on activities completed, with pictures! The app makes it super easy to get all your updates (and they're emailed to you), and see all your invoices/payments. What has really made this company stand out to me is everyone really cares. I feel like the company has become our family, and they all genuinely care about and look after the dogs. Baja loves all of her caretakers, especially Eddie, Brittany, and Tom. They've made the difference in her every day routine (I think she would prefer me to work more than 4 days a week now!) Really can't say enough great things about the company, and would suggest them to anyone and everyone with an animal!! read more

I use Boston Dog Butlers for a number of services and have been thrilled with Rocky's care. However, I'd like to call out specifically Elkhan. Rocky stayed with Elkhan and his family multiple times, but most recently for a week while I was on a business trip. I received pictures and videos every day with very thorough reviews. He received a ton of exercise and got lots of play time with other dogs and Elkhan's family too. I came home to a very happy (and clean) puppy...and I can't forget extremely well trained. I guess the only downside is that I'm a little worried that Rocky loves Elkhan more than me! :) If you travel and suffer from that guilt of leaving your dog, look no farther. read more

Today Reagan groomed my dog and she did such a great job trimming and she was so accommodating when I was late to pick my dog up. Amazing groomers!!!! So thrilled I brought my Bentley to BDB. He is a long hair chihuahua and we get him groomed 3-4x/year but this was our first time at Boston Dog Butlers. They did such an amazing job!!! This is the best cut he has ever gotten. He's always a little nervous when we get to the groomer, and he usually sprints back to me when I get there to pick him up and tries to pull me out of the store asap, but not at BDB. He was in such good spirits when I arrived to pick him up, he even ran back behind the counter before I put his harness on, which means not only was his cut amazing, but that the staff did a great job with him and made him feel comfortable (which is the most important part!). A fellow dog mom recommended Melissa & Jamie at Boston Dog Butlers Pet Spa on Tremont for grooming over conversation at the dog park and, 18 months later, we cannot imagine taking our little guy anywhere else! Our mini Labradoodle is quite sensitive, tends to be shy and significantly dislikes being groomed or brushed in most areas... even by us. He unfortunately had a couple of negative grooming experiences prior to finding BDB which contributed to his fears. As a breed with hair that requires a good amount of maintenance, this has presented quite a challenge. Melissa and Jamie at Boston Dog Butlers Pet Spa have been absolutely incredible -- amazingly patient, kind and caring in each interaction (with both canines and humans alike!). They have worked hard to build trust and rapport with our pup, meeting him where he is and slowly growing his confidence. He helps you understand the levers and reasons behind your dog's reactions, which allows you as their owner to operate independently. Had a fantastic experience Boston dog butlers. I had the pleasure of Jen M as my dogs trainer. Max was so annoying before could never leave him off leash without him bothering every dog and person and on leash he always trying to pull. Max also was such a food glutton. After a few sessions there was definitely some improvements. Leash training was so much better and after a few more sessions the off leash was starting to improve as well I was so happy. I used to rely on Freedom Tails for walks and everything else until Freedom Tails was only available for boarding (Sasha, the owner, is great, but went to focus more on her studies in Animal Behavior). I did a long search for a reliable walker and trusted Sasha when she referred BDB for walks. I used BDB's pet walking, pet sitting and training services in Fenway. Huge shoutout to Jaimie for being amazingly responsive, and flexible and AJ (BDB's trainer) for getting my pup through the CGC test!! I had such a busy season one time that I kept forgetting to schedule walks the day before but Jaimie accommodated my last minute needs. She even replied me at the oddest hours, which I am very appreciative of!! Could not have survived busy season without the help of BDB walking my little high energy Coton. I'm a first time dog owner and my dog is 4years old. I reached out to AJ because I was about to fly with my pup on a pretty long flight and was worried about my pup's anxious behavior and leash reactivity. I've heard too many horror stories of dogs behaving badly at airports and didn't want to be one of them. AJ met my dog, solidified his good manners during boarding and more importantly, worked with me on his leash reactivity once per week over the course of 5weeks. He created solutions for me to manage Royce's reactivity before it happens. Not only that, he's a patient man that will NOT make you feel like you're a bad dog owner. I'm ever grateful for that!! AJ also made sure that I could get Royce tested and certified as a CGC during his busiest time before I left Boston. Royce has now flown on long flights from east coast to west coast, and international flights with very little to no reactivity, and I can proudly say that I can handle my own dog. And when Cassidy brings him to the front it's clear he likes her a lot! As important, the closed front door and "baby" gate access to enter the space ensures the safety of dogs waiting out front to be picked up. There's also a long, flexible safety gate in front of the door area that can be moved as necessary for owners to arrive without the dogs getting to the door at all. Cassidy has done a wonderful job with his grooming, pays attention to what we like, and provides great advice. And when our dog was matted beyond repair, Cassidy carefully shaved him. James has been a miracle worker for our dog. We have an 80 lbs German shepherd/ Great Pyrenees who is friendly and playful but was struggling with 1. Being territorial in our home when we had guests 2. Jumping on people when he got excited 3. Pulling on walks and dragging me to the dog park every chance he gets James did a great job of building rapport with our dog (who can get scared of strangers) and teaching us as well as the doggo. James was always a great communicator and flexible. After a few short weeks James taught us how to get our dog to use the doorbell as a cue to go to his mat so he doesn't bark excessively and figure out how to introduce new people. We have been working with Boston Dog Butlers for a few years--starting with hikes, park plays, walks, and pet sitting. They are an integral part of our 'village.' We followed Brittany there - a truly incredible dog professional who has known our dog Leroy since he was four months old. She not only loves our dog as her own, but she takes the time to understand Leroy's baseline personality and share quirks with us that we don't typically get to see. For example, Leroy is baseline a very very mellow dog--but he gets very over-excited during some Dog Butlers services because he is so jazzed to be with his people. Thus, when Brittany suggested we work with Dog Butlers' trainers Jake & James for a little refresh in Leroy's training, we took it seriously. Over the course of a few months, we worked with Jake & James to work on Leroy's self control to address two issues - over excitement/barking when we come home and eating food off the street. As a South End family, we had a few too many trips to the emergency vet for items Leroy got off the street on trash day and we were worried for Leroy's safety. Jake spent hours getting to know what motivated Leroy and helped tailor training to accommodate his learning style. He tailored a training game to Leroy, helping us work through different levels at home, that we could then take outside. Whether it was a 1 on 1 training session or a family session, Jake left paragraphs of detailed feedback so we always knew what to practice on our own. We needed our Copley to get a quick partial groom (basically, he needed a better quality bath than we could give and a butt area trim to keep clean!) and we were surprised to find so few local groomers offer this service. Luckily, Boston Dog Butlers was happy to accommodate us and got us in quickly! Not only did he come back with his nails trimmed and his butt clean, but he smells amazing, is all fluffed out/adorable, and is just generally beautiful. They were communicative, easy to schedule, and gave us a 40-minute heads up when it was time to get him (and stuck to the original timing promised). Eddie has been great with our dog, Goose! She goes on daily park visits and enjoys playing with all her friends. We receive texts before and after pick up, and we enjoy the daily updates with photos of the dogs at the park. Eddie is also great about making sure Goose has enough water after her park visits and will refill as needed. We've also taken advantage of the dog boarding service that BDB offers, and Eddie has been great with watching Goose when we are out of town. I always trust that Goose is in good hands. My dogs aren't great with other dogs and they are so accommodating - ensuring my dogs and other dogs are comfortable and calm when I bring them in for their appointments. Every time I call, I have to leave a ton of information with an answering service and wait for a call back - it's an inconvenient process and gives me a bit of anxiety because if there was ever any type of time sensitive request or need to get in touch with the team there, I wouldn't be able to.
