a variety of cakes and pastries

If you live in Spring Valley or AU Park, this is a wonderful little market to visit. It has nice produce, meat / seafood counters, and great assortment of indulgent cakes and other pastries. Yes, you could always go to the nearby Safeway or Giant for cheaper groceries. But the friendliness of staff makes this market extra special and the ease of parking makes the trip worth it. For hot bar food and other pantry staples, you can also hop over to the deli market which is 2-3 doors down. They have great assortment of bread, bbq sandwiches, and other good yums.

Sesame noodle salad. Way too salty, too much soy sauce and soaked in oil. Just awful! INEDIBLE.

DREDFUL! Dried out empanadas that taste more like Mexican food than Spanish -no raisins (a classic ingredient). I requested it hot yet it was cold inside. The tough stale dried out pastry was a sincere disappointment. Asian Sesame Noodle Salad has so much soy sauce & salt , that made it inedible; and I like salty food. Also drenched in oil. - This was really bad $5.99 wasted. $14.99 Tuna sandwiches. All in all, this place is a no go.

    Price gouging at its finest.

They charge you for the fat trimmed off of your steaks. No, seriously. Ordered two filets, they said "we weigh the steak in roast form and don't cut steaks." ???? At $45/pound you can't cut a steak? Then the clown behind the counter said "I'll cut you a break and we'll trim it this time", which was a lie. Paid $92 for 1 pound worth of steaks after trimming. Go to Morton's and at least have them cook it for you. I'll deal with trash customer service and outrageous prices because DC is DC, but don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining. You guys are garbage and I'll never be back. Butcher's Alley in Bethesda is a better option and is $10/pound less.

    Nice deli meat selection

This market provides a wide range of fresh and prepared specialty foods and claims to have best beef brisket within 100 mile radius. If you're looking to cook products from local farmers then I would recommend coming here, but be aware that it comes with a price tag- yes even for DC.... in summary for my first experience here I give 5 for how friendly the staff were but a 3 for the food I had. The menu has a wide range of sandwiches and gourmet meals that one can choose from. We got the double decker sandwich( has brisket and pastrami) and the Ruben( pastrami only). The brisket had a strong disappointing gamey taste to it. Perhaps it was the meat that day but for what we paid for it I wouldn't order it in the future. I was also disappointed in that no chips or side of salad came with the rather expensive ($16and 13$) sandwiches. The fresh produce and meats from local farmers are reasons why I would come back in the future. If you're in the area you should stop by.

Wagshal's Nixon Salad with bonus stick! Not to my taste, but perhaps a goat would enjoy!

The sandwich was okay. The place is very cramped, and it is difficult to move around. Parking is acceptable.

I've been going to Wagshal's since I was a little girl. LOVE their brisket sandwich...so so good. And it's just a great little store.

Quality of meat and fish are high, as are prices. They still pack in styrofoam, sadly. Employees are much more polite than the owner.

Amazon Fresh in Chevy Chase-Wisconsin Avenue (AFCCWA) has become me and my dining companion's go-to…read moreplace to shop for much of our organic produce, organic pasture-raised eggs and meats, quality frozen seafood, and other random gems. To further draw us there (it is not that close for us), the staff is one of the most genuinely welcoming and helpful teams around, which is all the more surprising consider it being tied to one of the largest companies in the world. Not only are the team members helpful in assisting us the find items we are looking for, which is not that infrequent considering an item may be in between stocking or deliveries, many are available and very active to make assistance easily approachable. From the cashiers, to those who focus on specific departments, to those who work at customer service, and those who roam throughout the store, they all remember us and are part of making the shopping experience enjoyable! While our service experiences at the early phases of the store's opening felt a bit curt and simultaneously either shy or brusque, the team has hit their stride and really exemplifies customer service at its finest in a truly warm, helpful, and genuine manner. As for what we typically shop for at AFCCWA, it is an exception to our rule: a place where we get most of our weekly groceries because we are more in line with the traditional Asian and European style of shopping, i.e. going to multiple places to source the best of what each store has to offer. Having been introduced to AFCCWA after making some Amazon returns, we have found ourselves exploring more of the store and finding more terrific items across multiple sections of the store. Now, we make sure to visit the aisles for produce (lots of great organic fruits and vegetables), dairy, cheese/meat, frozen seafood, cereals/spices, and even general merchandise (e.g. OXO brand scissors and staples were on bargain sales!). As my DC notes, it is like "a treasure hunt!" That said, the main draw for us are the quality of the organic produce, pasture-raised eggs, and grass-fed milk/beef which rival the best in the area in terms of quality. However, the pricing is generally lower with rotating sales making the same items truly incredible deals! Since they have special pricing that changes periodically (running for multiple days) or even just one day, it helps doing a little "homework" (e.g. searching for sales items online) before going. All in all, AFCCWA is a real gem of grocery store with an exceptional staff who make the shopping experience more like that of visiting a friendly neighborhood market than a supermarket that is part of a corporate behemoth. Plus, with amazing sales and fascinating random finds, AFCCWA keeps us coming back for both our regular staples and an eye for new items alike!

Very easy to shop store with really fantastic proces. Got a great deal on Hagen Dazs ice cream…read morepints. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I just wish their inventory was more up to date. It's a very pleasant shopping experience. I like that they have a lot of Whole Foods 365 brand products.
