If I could give this place 100 stars, I would! They have done the impossible in marrying Jewish Mediterranean cuisine with good old American BBQ, and the results are spectacular. Today I visited, and as today is Veterans Day, and the restaurant was offering complimentary items from their menu, I enjoyed a substantial menu platter called "2x2" which includes two main items, two side dishes, and a roll. WOW! I had the shredded lamb shoulder and the brisket, with smoked beets and smoked carrots for sides. It was an immensely great choice, as all four delivered exceptional satisfaction! Both the lamb and brisket were perfectly cooked, and the lamb, which has a garlic ginger crust, exemplifies why this marriage of Jewish Med and USA BBQ is a great one. The beets were also notable, and as a big beet fan, easily the best beet side dish that this Elite Yelper has ever tasted, which includes eating them in Israel many years ago! The carrots were also really good with a bit of a kick! The chef is Jarrad Silver, who is a local and opened this Bethesda location about a year or so ago. The place was packed during my visit, and there are only 4 seating spaces inside the small restaurant, but ample seating outside and plenty of parking right next to it. It is places like this that make Bethesda a foodie heaven, and it is great ideas like this marriage that keeps the taste buds dancing! My congrats to Silver, and on behalf of this old Navy dude, thank you for your Veterans Day platter!

I had Silver and Sons BBQ last week when they came with their food truck. Their brisket was so good, but a bit expensive for the amount you get. Service was amazing, food was out in less than 5 minutes. I'd love to stop by the restaurant to try other cuts of protein.

Wow! Wow! Wow! This has to be my favorite BBQ joint in the dmv. Bbq with Jewish/Mediterranean flare inspiration. I often find when I go for BBQ, it's super greasy or it falls in my stomach like a brick that will take forever to digest. I was very pleased with the meaty non fatty portion of brisket and the platter offerings with the short rib pastrami sandwhich. I got the chick pea salad, with the GF Salud bread, smaltz potatoes, mac and cheese. All items were excellent and my gall bladder that tends to be sensitive didn't protest at all. I want to return to try even more items. They were sold out of the chili and wings. They are def on my next hit list.

Joey was so awesome with referring me the best menu items! I got the short rib pastrami with the Dijon mustard and the carrots which both were to die for!!! The food truck being so convenient to my house will make it easy to come back! 10/10

Fantastic reuben! I'd heard it was good and had to check it out for myself. It was a bit of a drive for me (~35 minutes) but worth it. I arrived and there's plenty of free parking right near the restaurant. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The one criticism would be space to eat. It's clean but you will sit at a counter with limited room, but that's livable. We also tried the chickpea slaw (good but watery) and the lemon schmaltz potatoes (flavorful), enjoying them both. Finally, capped the order off with smoked walnut baklava. OMG! Amazing. Not too sweet and oh so good.

Fast BBQ place that is new as a brick and mortar in the area and has already won a few awards. It doesn't get better than that. Service was fast and estimated wait time was accurate. Place is new and clean and it shows! Forgot the name of my sandwich but it had brisket, cheese and something with chicken skins on a challah hoagie. Tasty to the end. Was licking fingers inside the restaurant and gave my respects to the cooking staff. TLDR - great BBQ, fast, not overpriced, trendy. Go and enjoy!

I found the Silver and Sons BBQ truck parked outside Lost Generation on a Friday evening. Hunger struck me at the right time because about 20 minutes after I got my food a huge line formed! A BBQ meal is best mixed with one of the best breweries in town. I ordered the brisket sandwich. Some places give you slices of brisket between the bread. Silver and Sons packed together chunky pieces of brisket, which I also liked. The meat was good, but just a little dry. Good thing the sandwich comes with your choice of sauce. I also loved the soft challah bun, a great combination with the brisket. Service was very pretty quick. They told me not to go far and when I almost went inside the building to look for a seat, they called my name ready with the sandwich. For a truck, I'm impressed by the variety of meat and sides on the menu. I would love to try the lamb or pastrami next time.

Overall a good truck - not in the least it's new to our neighborhood which hasn't seen too many new trucks for a while. The BBQ meats are very good - we had the chicken (you can specify dark or white meat) and beef, both quite tasty and sufficiently tender. Can't say that about the sides - the potato was way overcooked and the Mac and cheese as well and as someone else had pointed out not much cheese. You can preorder online but the website didn't provide a smooth experience so probably easier to just order at the truck.

What's left of my beef ribs. Heavy on the salt. Barbecue sauce couldn't save this. They were just okay but not my cup of tea.

First let me say that this is a beautiful, new place. A nice brick and mortar to showcase their cuisine. I must say that I'm not a fan of the beef rib. Had I examined the menu more closely I probably wouldn't have ordered this. The rib was a bit heavy on the salt. I know that you need to season generously with such a large piece of meat but I feel that it needed some brown sugar or something to balance the heavy salt. Again I've never been a fan of beef ribs, so when I asked for a 'slab' I really didn't know that I was ordering beef ribs. Frankly I didn't like the beef ribs. As I later examined the menu I'm kind of excited to try the sandwiches. 2 stars for now but I look forward to giving a great review on the sandwiches. Stay tuned...

So, I am funny when it comes to food trucks, haven't had the best experiences with them. But Silver and Son's BBQ has opened me up to food truck a little more. I love going to the market in Bethesda, and this Sunday they were there and plan on being there for the next few months for brunch. With that said their full menu isn't available just brunch, but you won't be disappointed! The customer service is perfect. Friendly, efficient and just over all good energy. I have only tried the lamb hash, normally I try to taste more before writing a review, but I have been thinking about it since I ate it lol. I will be getting some next Sunday for sure. So the hash consists of pulled lamb (cooked and seasoned perfectly) potatoes, cooked peppers and onions and two fried eggs. The fat from the lamb is absorbed by the potatoes and it almost melts in your mouth. They give you just enough for a good sized breakfast. The best hash I have ever had. I will be checking their schedule so I can grab something from their regular menu as well.

Food is quick, hot and quality. Lost a star due to the fact that utensils weren't put in the bag. Hoping to catch the food truck soon. My Go to for BBQ.

But, oh yeah, makin' BBQ takes time and they are soooo good at it!

Walk, run or drive to the new Silver and Sons BBQ retail location in Bethesda at 5362 Westbard Avenue. If you know good BBQ then you can't miss Silver and Sons. The beef brisket is so moist and flavorful, you likely will not want to go anywhere else in the DMV for this ambrosial treat. You can choose from sandwiches, combo platter, bowls or just a heapin' helpin' of meat they call Mains. Chicken, lamb, pastrami, turkey - it's hard to make a choice, every aroma is so flavorful. I got the sandwich platter which consists of one meat choice (you can add a second for a few bucks), a fresh challah roll, your choice of "Bulldog", spiced vinegar or Baharat Mustard BBQ sauce (though honestly, none is needed) a side like mac/cheese and a dessert. Only $19 - what a deal. Thought they don't yet have delivery, they will be expanding soon to online ordering and some grab and go fare. The staff is super helpful on choices and quick with a take out order. This is not a sit down restaurant, with only a few tables and chairs, but I can't imagine anything other than expanding again once the secret is out. Silver and Sons - wishing you many happy years and happy customers at your (first) retail location!

Really good BBQ that is also Jewish owned and themed. Had this once at the Lost Generation Brewery. Hope to have it another time somewhere.

I needed a steak for my son's birthday dinner. A good steak. At the same time, DC is freaking out…read moreover a coming storm. Supermarket shelves are emptied. But Butchers Alley was fully stocked. Great meats. Awesome cheeses. Prepared meals. Wines. The butcher was awesome. The cheesemonger incredibly helpful. I love this store. Whole Foods charged $12/lb and it was noticeably better. Same story with the short rib I got last month...almost half the price at Whole Foods and experienced better or the same quality. The funniest is the stock bones...$15 for a small pack. You'd need two to make any volume of stock, (so $30), and the same amount of bones would be $10 at the farmers market. I love supporting local places, especially high-quality butchers/groceries. I really do. But there comes a point when you have to ask if you're getting ripped off. With meats DOUBLE the price of another grocer that itself has a reputation for being expensive, it starts feeling like you're being taken advantage of. For what it's worth, the little old lady in front of me almost had a panic attack when they rang her up. I would've bought her groceries for her, but I suddenly realized that me buying a couple pounds of chuck roast and 10 marrow BONES to make stock with would already have me above $100. I saw another person put back cookies because after tax they were $7 each. Sorry, guys, but I'm out.

We didn't have time for the places I sometimes like to eat at in the Row (sit down places that would have taken longer than 30 minutes), and we didn't want to eat at any of the chain places nearby either. Just when we were getting into one of those situations where every option gets shot down until you get desperate and end up somewhere you don't even like, we saw Vace's awning. It looked old school and like they might sell pizza by the slice inside, so we wandered in. Since visiting I've done a little research and now I know that Vace Italian Deli started in DC in 1976 and that it's still family-owned almost 50 years later. They offer 60+ items made in house (fresh deli sandwiches, homemade pasta, and freshly baked pizza) and have small store where you can get plenty of great Italian food items (their olive oils looked amazing and did their anchovies and other jarred items)! We got a couple of slices of pizza each (one cheese and one pepperoni for him, one spinach and one onion for me), which were really great. A great walking lunch, and exactly what we had time for. (I say a walking lunch, because Vace is to go only, there's no where to sit.) I really enjoyed our experience here, and I'm glad we wandered until we found it. A fun surprise in Bethesda.
