Hunan Delight - very very good. Getting old so went mild. Perfect amount of spice for me now. Boy I miss the good ol' days of sweating through a great meal. Ordered out from here on Monday January 27th 2025. We ordered the pan fried wontons, some dumplings, pepper steak with white rice combo, general taos chicken combo, and chicken with mixed vegetables combo. I recently went here to get dinner. The portion sizes are very generous, and service was beyond friendly. They offer delivery through DoorDash which is quite convenient, and your food will be ready in 10 minutes. The hot and sour soup is to die for! We order from Wah Mei every few weeks or so. It is our go-to favorite Chinese takeout place in the area! Always get HOT, delicious food no matter what we order. They are also accommodating when it comes to making a dish mild (if it's supposed to be spicy, like Curried Chicken) or if you'd like them to go easy on the oil. All you have to do is ask! Pros - The hot and sour soup is best in area.Foods are good. Cons- no delivery no credit cards Staff very quick to talk and get you out not to personable like most. For the not and sour coup if I'm in that side of town I'll get it otherwise - I still chose the one that Delivers and takes credit card as if I'm not cooking I'm not driving either. I've gotten take out a few times here. Always fresh, hot and good. In and out in 10 minutes. All cash transactions only. You can order online and pickup too. It is rare to find consistent quality and flavors at many Chinese take ot places. Here always good. Limited seating for dine in. Strongly recommend. read more

My husband and I decided to check this chinese restaurant out. I loved the chicken cho fun it was beyond delicious. It wasn't bad but we could tell that it's not MSG free which I was kinda disappointed. Overall the employees are really nice and it was pretty affordable for almost everything that we ordered . I tried this Chinese restaurant recently and really enjoyed the food. I have been to most Chinese restaurants in Monroe and this is by far my favorite. I ordered sweet and sour chicken and sesame chicken. What I appreciated the most was the big, juicy pieces of chicken (some places seem to give little scraps), it was substantial and delicious. The fried rice was really good too - plump rice (not dry). I ordered the food through deal dash and it arrived within 30 minutes and nice and hot. Great Chinese food in this part of Orange County, NY is hard to come by. Wah Mei for a while was the best choice in the area. On my first visit there since the pandemic hit, I have to say this place has taken a major nose dive. Flavorless, bland, soggy food. When the most flavorful thing was a spring roll...you know you're in trouble. Oh and the prices went up quite a bit. So I think I'll be taking a break from Chinese food up here period...because the $40 plus I paid for this would've been a more flavorful meal! read more

Ordered a basic dish, general tso and pork fried rice. The rice was very salty and the chicken was undercooked and its outer fried shell offered no firmness. Maybe they never do this but they did today and all I can say is wah mei indeed ‍‍‍‍‍ I called in the order and the place was not even busy when I arrived... so dont get back to me in the comments with excuses as to why the chicken was undercooked. Lucky house in the Shoprite plaza isn't the best... but when it comes to this dish which is pretty simple, I dont usually feel the need to worry about salmonella. On top of all that... not a single soy,duck sauce, utensil, or napkin was included in the bag. Thank God Tosco's next door doesn't suck like this place does. read more

My favorite Chinese takeout in the area! It's fairly standard for this type of restaurant with a basic menu that goes along with it. A standout is their Singapore Chow Mei Fun. It's got a really great curry flavor and a little bit of kick to it in the form of spicy heat. The main thing that makes Wah Mei rise above the rest of the local Chinese takeout is that their different dishes actually have unique flavors. Too often these joints have a "brown" sauce and a "clear/white" one and a "sweet" one. Sesame chicken? Use the sweet. General Tso? Sweet + some chili pepper. With Wah Mei the kungpao and cashew chickens actually taste different from each other! I highly recommend if you're in the mood for some great Chinese takeout. The roast pork lomein is fantastic as well. read more

Very first time ordering Lemon Chicken from this place and it wasn't bad at all. It's the closet restaurant from me so why not order from them to see if it's worth ordering again from them. The downside from ordering from there is for one they don't accept debit or credit cards which really blows especially now a days since no one really carries cash. Bottom line I might order from them again, but I have to make sure I have cash on me. I will recommend them to people moving forward because like I mentioned early the food was not bad at all. I gave them 3 stars because they don't take plastic to make payments, but them delivering help me give them 3 stars instead of 2. read more

I had gotten good food at Wah Mei a couple of times last summer and I was going to be near the restaurant so I decided to pick up the broth from Won Ton soup. This restaurant gets my order wrong every single time. The first time was on my birthday, my father ordered $70 worth or food. When he arrived they only made one dish instead of the 12 we ordered. I was so upset especially because it was my birthday dinner and we had to go somewhere else. The second time we ordered from there, they missed 2 dishes and gave us small sizes instead of the larges we order for our big family. I've been eating here all my life that I've lived in Monroe. Since leaving it and traveling around, I have yet to find Chinese takeout as good as this place. May it be in Texas, Germany, or even NYC, Wah Mei delivers in a way other places just don't. I have yet to find duck sauce anywhere else. The General Tso chicken is just the right amount of crispy and tender, the sauce delectable to a degree I haven't seen elsewhere. The lo mein is still the top dog of any I've tried, oh and the boneless spare ribs are great. Food portions are good for the prices as well. I suppose the only thing holding me back from the 5 star is I have found hair in my food before, and whilst a major turn off for others, it can happen anywhere, I've witnessed it enough to know, so I'm not gonna raise hell over it. Overall though this is still the best Chinese takeout restaurant I've eaten at, and everyone should give it a try at least once if you're looking for some good food. read more
