Some positives and negatives on my experience at Wahoo Meat Locker. They do have a large selection, some fresh stuff and a ton of frozen stuff. We tried some filet mignon and also a ribeye. I had a slight issue with how the filet was cut. It wasn't the prettiest and shape was odd rather than a continuous circle. When I got home, I also noticed that it was not a nice red color but had oxidized somewhat and smelled a little vinegary or sour. Decent marbling, but I would've liked a little more for a filet. The ribeye was nicely cut, trimmed of excess gristle, and had no issues with it. Glad we tried something new to us, this place has been around for a while, but not sure it'll warrant another trip from Omaha. read more

When we walked in there were samples of the spicy meat sticks and there were INCREDIBLE, almost couldn't help myself from eating them all! A must try and buy!! We bought some Wahoo Weiners the cheese and jalepeno flavor, and WOW were they amazing, I dream about these!! We also got a few cuts of the NY strip and they were very good. I have been in the meat (packing plant) business for 54 years and have tried dozens of different beef jerky's over the years. I've also been involved in a couple of in plant jerky operations. I tried Wahoo Locker Original Beef Jerky for the first time very recently. I must say, the Wahoo Jerky is, without doubt, one of the BEST tasting, quality jerky's i have ever had in a long time. This place is A+mazing!! I get my dog bones from my local groomer for $5 a piece. Someone mentioned they have them at Wahoo Meat Locker so I decided to stop in. They had a bag of 5 for $6!! While there I purchased some quail eggs and various sausage and steaks. WOW. The flavors and smoke quality were amazing. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to my questions. This is a great store in small town Nebraska. Must check it out!! read more

My deer processing order was not correct, even according to the cut sheet..I went back in after loading it into cooler and advised an employee that my order was not correct. Even the cuts of meat were incorrectly marked. They didn't care. Only answer was ,"I'll write that down".. that's not an answer. Now I have cuts of meat I didn't order and the ground is supposed to be in 1 pound packaging but every package is a different weight, with multiple packages around a half a pound.. It was warm, very warm when I killed this deer so I thought I would have them do it instead of doing it myself. I should have left when I had to show the kid that checked my deer in how to remove the tenderloins.. I've had several deer done here over the years as time constraints prevented me from cutting up my own. In addition, I have bought plenty of other meat and hot dogs here. Very disappointed. At this time. I doubt I'll return. And I live locally and want to support local businesses but cannot support them at this time.. Don't think I'll set foot in here again.. read more

Most of my order on a side of beef was fine. However, I was very specific about how I wanted the brisket done. I wanted a whole packer brisket. I BBQ a lot, and I like to do brisket. I was extremely specific to do no trimming on it. What I got was trimmed down ridiculously. The flat was completely cut back to where it meets the point. Also, the sides were sliced off as was part of the point. It was cut down to a stupid little rectangle. When we were loading it into coolers I saw how it looked and went back inside to tell them it was wrong. The woman at the cash register was very nice. She went and got a woman from the back. The woman from the back seemed irritated and somewhat rude. I told her about the brisket. She said "It was a smaller steer. That's just the way it is. The brisket is just the fatty part on the front that is just cut off." I know that Angus are smaller. I also know that there should have been more to the brisket. It wasn't cut as a full packer brisket. I have purchased sides of Angus beef before. It wasn't worth the argument so I just left. I am only complaining because that woman was rude to me. It's bad enough that, instead of a nice brisket, I have a piece of garbage that will probably be ground into hamburger, but I had to deal with someone like that. read more

The atmosphere is that of a high end specialty meat store with a great selection of kitchen tools you didn't know you needed. This is my go to place for specialty food gifts to send to family. Service has always been prompt and courteous. One of my favorite things is the samples of their meat in the little crockpot- it sets the tone for a great shopping trip. read more

Ordered a half beef. Was fairly quick, and a large beef at that. The meat is incredibly. Paid 3.90 a pound. Love the way they wrap. Everything is vacuum packed. The staff are very friendly. The store has all sorts of kitchen gadgets for sale. Highly recommend. read more

We are new to the area & couldn't believe our eyes when we visited the Wahoo Locker! They have a very nice specialty food shop in the front of the building with a fresh meat counter and TONS of freezer space with any sort of meat you could ever want to try. We have purchased bacon, ground sausage, snack sticks & several varieties of brats. The philly cheese brats are insanely good (you can see and taste the chunks of cheese, mushrooms, etc.). All of the meet is very fresh and flavorful. I will also be shopping there anytime I need a gift. In addition to specialty food items (dips, jams, jellies, etc.) they have a variety of nice kitchen gifts. Awesome shop for the community of Wahoo to have!! read more

The Wahoo Locker is an ever growing secret around here. My husband and I have been bringing our deer here for processing for a few years now. This year was the first time the Wahoo Locker processed a hog for us. Each and every time we pick-up our processed meat, it is packaged neatly into steaks, roasts, ground, cured, etc to our specifications. There are also packages of brats, bologna, jerky, sausages, and anything else we have chosen. Everything is frozen and labeled. They do their own smoking and curing in house. In addition to processing our own meats for us, the Wahoo Locker also offers fresh and frozen packages of meats in their store. Every item we have bought there has been high quality. They also have recently added a large selection of kitchen gadgets and grills to the store. The store is clean and well organized. The staff is knowledgable and helpful. Parking is on the street. I would recommend the Wahoo Locker to anyone who loves to eat meat. read more

We just got half a hog butchered from these guys, got home and found there were no ribs. Now, I'm not a butcher so I didn't know that they assume I don't want these. So when I called them they said if you get boneless pork chops then you also get the ribs. Well that would've been nice to know! I don't understand why you wouldn't put ribs on the processing sheet (don't be fooled by the spare ribs, its just the excess crap they cut off the real spare ribs). I mean honestly, have you guys ever met anyone who barbeques??? The ribs are popular, why would I not want those??? Anyways, I guess when you go to this butcher, be prepared to know everything there is to know about all the cuts on the hog. Otherwise they will leave out important cuts that you were excited about. read more

Excellent selection of meat, including various option like lamb, deer, elk, and others. They also offer side dishes, jerky, sausages, BBQ and smoked meats. You can buy per piece, bundle, mixed bundles, or per quarter, half, or whole sides. They offer catering, which I have employed and plan to use their catering again in the future. Their sides are very good as is the pulled pork. I was impressed when I went in to their store front, meats are laid out for viewing, their freezer sections are stocked and laid out for easy viewing. Staff is extremely friendly and I felt they were truly interested in seeing to it I was completely satisfied with anything I wanted. Mentioned I wanted to grill out at home for some out of town guests and I was extremely pleased they took it upon themselves to make sure my visitors would be amazed by the grill out. Cut me some beef loins that were amazing and even recommended how I should grill them so they wouldn't get burnt. Next visit I wanted to do pork chops, they fixed me up some bone in pork loins that were out of this world. read more
