In one instance I had my brakes and rotors needing immediate repair and everyone else diagnosed that it could be changed in later months, Waikoloa Automotive told me it needed urgent repair!! They changed me $400, which was for the full service. An amazing price on this island. I was quoted about $700 from Midas. Go to them if you can, you can hang out just a ten minute walk to the Kohala coffee shop or the other options all around while they service your car. !! You won't be sorry. read more

Then when I came back, they took acre of my safety before and after I got my car registered in HI. They're located right here in Waikoloa. So it's convenient. We came home from visiting my family on the mainland to a dead battery. We have AAA and two days, 3 calls later, they did NOT have the battery for our car. However AAA called Waikoloa Automotive and found it in stock. AAA jump started our car and followed us to Waikoloa Automotive. Great service, we were in and out in under 20 minutes. I dropped my truck off on June 13 2022, the guy said he would give me a call later that day or the next day. When I dropped it off I told him and wrote down on the work order exactly what was going on with my truck, and I told him and wrote down that my doors needed to be locked manually. After they closed that day I checked on my doors and it was left unlocked. 3 days go by and no phone call so I went by and he said they have not figured out what was wrong with it yet. After 1 week no call and I go by again and the guy said only Dave knows what's wrong with it but he wasn't there and they would call me. I noticed my truck was moved about 4 days ago but no call, so when I go by today June 28 2022 a different guy tells me there was a line rubbing against some thing and he bent it out of the way, and he he thinks he knows what is wrong and it's a little better but not fixed. He said I could take it today if I wanted and I could replace the part my self because they didn't want to. So they kind of fixed it 4 days ago but never called me to say to pick it up. Charged me $ 180 for some power steering fluid that after I got home was not filled up to the proper level, and to bend some pipe out of the way, That kind of fixed it but not really ( not at all in my eyes ). So please don't bring your car to these thieves. They never once called me to tell me anything at all, and then let it sit until I came to check on it. Absolutely no communication what so ever. This is a local business that has been here for years. The owner works very hard to do a good job. Because we're located miles away from every other City and its a small town, they don't have a lot of parts in stock, almost everything has to be shipped in. That said, they will do a better job, stand by their work and often times much cheaper. When our air conditioner went out, the Kona places all told me parts and labor would be around $500. The owner called around and found a refurbished part for under $25 and the labor was under $150. This is the kind of Hometown, local service that you get here. read more

Back in 2014, we brought our jeep in because our radiator blew and they tried to convince us that the head gasket had blown. We had it towed back to our friends house and had him replace the radiator for us. Our jeep has been running fine ever since, but that experience left a sour taste in my mouth because they took us for suckers, dumb haoles, or whatever. I don't recommend going here. Find a good mechanic through networking and find someone who is recommended by people you know. These guys think they can make a quick buck off mainlanders. read more

Sadly have to update my rating to a lower star. It has been nearly 2 MONTHS since we brought our truck in for minor work on the brakes and still we are waiting. We have been calling at least once a week to ask the status of the truck and every time it is a new BS story. "Mechanic working on your car is on vacation", "we don't have the parts", "we got some of the parts but now we need more parts" and my personal favorite "I wasn't here when you brought it in, what are we doing on your truck again?" (5 weeks AFTER we brought it in). Absolutely ridiculous, unprofessional business. It is nearly January and we do not have our truck back. Please go anywhere else to have work done on your vehicle. Save yourself the grief of waiting forever and paying a fortune for work that may never even get done right. read more

Filthiest shop on the Big Island and the employees are terribly rude! I took my vehicle here for a simple safety check. I believe the employee that helped me smelled strongly of alcohol and completely ignored me for the first five minutes I was there. I asked if he would perform a safety check for me and he said he would. He instructed me to go wait in my car and he would be right out. My wife and I waited in the car for 45 minutes! He eventually stumbled out of his filthy garage and performed the safety check while talking on his cell phone the whole time. I am so glad this was only a safety check I would never let these guys touch anything under the hood! read more
