I was born and raised in Spokane. Starbucks seems like everything corporate invading what used to be called a small city; gross, burnt, overpriced, & insolently named. No one has the right to tell me what I love... especially burnt coffee... I used to go to a place called "shot of heaven", but that was closed when I came back home after being away for awhile, I was wondering from coffee stand to coffee stand for about 3 years after being back. I was extremely relieved after finding Wake Up Call, they offer military discounts, they are friendly: Pro Tip #1 (when they are busy they are busy, know the time and place to get to know your barista!) One time the syrup was at the bottom, I gently expressed my disappointment and they replaced my drink free of charge as the manager felt it was not to their standards. In another instance they blended it instead of making it iced, they fixed that too. Pro Tip #2 (Be kind, unwind. If you are having a stressful day, try breathing and take the time to notice that it isn't your barista's fault, If your drink is not up to par let them know kindly and they WILL fix it, unless you have some weird alien impossible to please taste buds [you are out there]) It's funny, sometimes I'm tired because of my schedule and the hours that I work, some of the baristas have gotten my drink down to the point where it's my "usual" and my order occasionally takes a simple nod to complete, If you are kind and regular this may be your experience as well. Pro Tip #3 (Notice your surroundings. this is such a great area it is literally minutes away from everything, there's WiFi and two drive through [so be careful when exiting the area!]). read more

I wanted to provide an update regarding my recent experience at WUC espresso as previously reviewed by myself on 5/22/2014. Though I had a bad customer service experience, I received an email and personal phone call from the President of the company, who expressed sincere concern over my experience. The outcome was to my satisfaction. I felt that he actually listened to my concerns without making excuses for his employee. I now believe that the bad experience I had was an isolated incident and one that will most likely not be repeated. BEST BLENDED COFFEE IN SPOKANE. This is cheaper than Starbucks and I love having options for syrups. I had a blended drink, I let the barista make me something much creamier and much better than a chunky-iced granita like you'd normally get at most stands. She said there was thickener in it. I also sweetened it with Macadamia Nut syrup instead of whatever their equivalent of Classic would be to Starbucks. Best place ever for coffee. They don't mess around. read more

Best coffee stop in Spokane and probably the world! I can't believe they're only local at this point, we'll it won't last long, i can assure you. They are growing rapidly in the spokane area and with very good reason - they're products are DELICIOUS and much more reasonably priced than their competitors. I have tried tons of joints daily and i keep coming back to these guys. I will drive out of my way to go to their stands. Somebody behind the scenes is a creative madman or madwoman who comes up with new and interesting coffee cocktails all the time. I usually have a pretty good experience here until today. I asked if they could do a London fog and the barista looked confused and said she had to ask. The person she asked said it was just tea and milk. So she just made an earl grey tea and poured cold milk into and called it good. Not even close... She could have asked me and I would have told her what it was. Didn't even steam the milk or ask if I wanted any sweetener (it's made with vanilla) and charged $3 for it. I know my espresso. I am very picky when it comes to the taste of my drinks. It doesn't matter which baristas make my drink, it is perfect every time. My traditional drink is a 16oz triple iced caramel latte with non fat milk. No other espresso stand or cafe even comes close for some reason. I used to be a regular as it's on my way to work. I've since stopped going. The quality of coffee is good but all I see to be getting is cream or ice. If you order cream with your coffee prepare to get a lot, even if you specify a "tiny bit". I even asked for an ounce of cream the next time since a tiny bit ended up being more than a quarter of the cup full. I could barely taste the coffee last time I went. If you order iced coffee, prepare to get nothing but ice. They fill it to the brim with ice and add a little coffee, and there's not much room for that if you ask for cream. The staff was already friendly and they come out of the building to take orders of there's a line but if I order a 20 ounce iced coffee I'd like some coffee, not just ice. After four messed up orders I had to quit going. I miss the old wake up call. It used to be one of the best in town. read more

My husband and I love the espresso and Rockstar Italian sodas here. However, I think the service needs just a bit a fine tuning. All staff that works there is very courteous, but when it comes down to remembering orders and drink sizes, they seem to often fall short. I am sure it is very stressful when there is a long line of cars and just a few baristas, but when one comes out to the line of cars and take orders and gives off the confidence that she will remember every part of yours (and the patrons of the three others vehicles in line) orders, and upon arriving at the window to receive and pay for the drink you've been looking forward to all morning, only to find that it has been made incorrectly and isn't the size you had originally asked for, leaves us feeling pretty disappointed and frustrated. I feel that that problem could be fixed SO easily by merely writing down or texting in the orders, as a server at a restaurant would do. Unfortunately the problem seems to persist almost every time we visit any location throughout the week (even when it's not terribly busy.) Writing simple order cues down doesn't take much time and would assure better service. If that was done, I feel like The Wake Up Call would be absolutely perfect. read more

Assumed maybe they were getting ready to close but later found out we arrived an hour and a half before closing. I love the Wake-Up Call coffee stands. Their coffee tastes way better than Starbucks, and they are way more affordable. I also love that they have fun weekly specials so you can try drink flavors you'd never come up with on your own. I don't know what the last reviewer is talking about. I've seen them make fresh shots of coffee. I'm happy to have a local business to support, and I enjoy their coffee drinks! The only reason I gave a 4 star instead of 5 star is that once in a while they'll have a less than pleasant barista, but most of the girls are friendly and courteous. read more
