I have always found Walgreens a pleasant experience. Although I don't like the pricing strategy they developed to compete with CVS. In addition I believe their prices in general are getting outta wack. However,today an allergen hit me outta nowhere so I whipped in for my go to eradicator, Alevert. Non drowsy and works every time. I'd like to give 5 stars for the store lead and for the regular Walgreens employees. The lead is amazing, and he actually cares about the customer experience. Around 4:00 today, I requested a refill for my elderly, Spanish speaking mother. She's traveling out of the country for thirty days, and the pharmacy manager mentioned that insurance stated it was too soon to refill. This is understandable, and she said she would start the process of a vacation override, and to come back, to this specific location, prior to 7:00 when they close. At 6:45 I approached the drive up window and spoke with Danielle. Danielle was quick to alert me of the same, that the insurance wouldn't allow a refill without a vacation override. I explained that I understand, and attempted to explain my previous interaction with the pharmacy manager. Danielle was dismissive and argumentative, and without actually listening to what I had to say, kept stating that there was nothing she could do. She stated we had to start over again with the insurance company. Understandably we were frustrated. She said I needed to get out of the drive through line and come inside. She said she had other customers to help. What am I? I asked if she could give me the phone number for the insurance company. She said no, and stated that it's on the insurance card. I stated I did not have the card with me, and again asked for the number. She said she couldn't give it to me because she was "busy" and again told me to come inside if I wanted to be helped. Begrudgingly, and even more frustrated, I parked, went in, and attempted to address the situation. She handed me a paper with the insurance company's phone number, and was beyond rude about it. Before I had the opportunity to even explain the situation, her manager, the pharmacist proceeds to intervene, and was yelling and condescending. His name was Jerry, and he would not allow me to speak. He kept talking over me, yelling, to the point where, I admit I lost my patience and I told him to "shut up". I apologize for my reaction, but I was beyond frustrated. He kept saying that this is his store, and that I can't speak to him that way. Well, I wouldn't have spoken to him that way had his team been helpful, or if he had actually approached the situation in a manner that was helpful. He started out argumentative, and only continued to escalate the situation. Ultimately he called for the store manager/lead. Thank God he did, because he was the only one who took the time to listen, and address the actual concerns. As the lead attempted to work toward a resolution, the pharmacist, Jerry, continue to spew unhelpful, unfriendly comments. In fact he went as far as saying that even if we for the "vacation override" that he determines whether or not he will dispense the medicine. It made me feel like no matter what attempts I make with the insurance company, or with his colleagues, that is intentions were to cause problems and be anything but helpful. In fact, while talking with the store lead, another customer made a comment to him that she witnessed the tech (Danielle) having an argument with someone in the drive through (which was me), and felt that she should have been kinder and more understanding and professional. Needless to say, we are back at square one. Typically Walgreens has served as the liaison between myself and the insurance company, helping to navigate the red tape, and ultimately assist in getting my mother's medication filled. This didn't happen. In fact, it couldn't have been handled in a worse way. We understand the delays insurance can cause, but what we don't understand is the unnecessary aggression, nor the demeaning way in which any of the pharmacy staff handled the situation. Danielle and Jerry needed to be reminded of who they are there to serve... their customers. This review is for the pharmacy. The employees I have dealt with here are excellent, but the pharmacy is chronically understaffed. Anytime something out of the ordinary comes up, like flu shots, there is not enough staffing to handle it and a line forms at the counter. Add in numerous new employees going through on-the-job training and you get long wait times and frustration. The employees are doing the best they can, but they are overwhelmed. I know willing labor is hard to come by, but when I compare other retail outlets to this Walgreen's the difference is significant. It's enough of a difference to make me change my Medicare Plan D to another plan. I might pay more at CVS, but at least I will not have a frustrating wait 70% of the time as I do at this Walgreen's read more

My whole family is sick, we were in and out of the doctors office all day with our 2 kids (one of whom has a 104 degree fever) and I got to this location at 4:17pm looking to get our prescriptions as I just came straight from the doctors office. Well the unsympathetic lady behind the pharmacy counter told me that she couldn't give me my prescription for my super sick daughter because I was too late. I've lost my voice due to being sick, you can clearly hear my desperation in what's left of my voice. But the pharmacists still wouldn't give me the prescriptions. I thought they were open until 6pm but this location is only open from 11am-4pm on Sundays which is ridiculous! What made it worse was that the woman pharmacist just stood there with a smile on her face while basically telling me to f*** off because they were closed. I get that once a place is closed they don't have access to the system or whatever, but this lady wouldn't even sympathize with me enough to help me find a solution! This Walgreens has been here since we moved here in the late '80s. It's a great catch all store for those elusive odd items. They always seem to carry random TV items like the chia pet, pedi-egg, the clapper, etc. They still develop rolls of film! I am guilty of finding undeveloped rolls of film. Always exciting to see what's on those rolls too! I don't smoke, but they sell cigarettes and nicotine gum. They have a great selection of make-up and accept refunds if you get something you just don't like. I would have never used this service before until make-up got so expensive! If you have a Walgreens card you receive points for your purchases. If you buy the bonus items, you get additional points that will add up to money off on the next visit. They have a knowledgeable pharmacy department. The techs are willing to help as are the pharmacists lending a hand in locating that perfect cold medicine. I know I can count on Walgreens for seasonal items come Valentine's Day to Christmas. If you forget the milk and bread they have that too! read more

We use this store mainly for our prescriptions. My wife has chronic illnesses so I meet a lot of pharmacy staff. Hands down this pharmacy is the best we've ever dealt with. Jerry is kind, compassionate and very smart. OBI is also great at his job. They get to know you like family and not just some number like most pharmacies. There was a time this was a great pharmacy. Not so much now. Dropped off hard copy prescription yesterday with three meds. Came back to pickup last night and was told they only had two written prescriptions. No prescription for painkillers. Came back today to track this down. Now they magically have the painkiller prescription (on the same document as the other two meds). However, they will not fill it because 'there is no waiver on file for our surgeon'. (Dr assured me there is a waiver on file for all Walgreens.) Walgreens also refuses to return the hard copy script so I can fill it elsewhere. No interest in helping resolve this situation. Day two after surgery without appropriate medication. Find another pharmacy if you want your medication. Looking into filing a complaint with the state. What happens to hard copy prescriptions for controlled Level 3 meds if not given to the patient? And will they be billing my insurance in anticipation of eventually being picked up? read more

Great Pharmacy, great Store. They are doing great despite the huge work load and short staff. CVS next door shut down and also the Pharmacy Hours is reduced yet this Pharmacy is till standing despite the huge prescriptions it gets everyday. I had a very bad and negative experience at walgreens in Allen Tx, the store is at 510 east main st, I ordered online pick up in store, my purchases came with cash rewards attached when I went to the store to pick my order, I looked for my cash rewards I was told that if order online I could claim my cash rewards, I asked the manager to cancel my order he said h couldn't cancel the order, I said can I get my cash rewards he said no, long story short I was told to get out of the store or he would call the police, I called headquarters and file a complain, my advise don't shop at this store these two people who claimed to be managers were very and threatenin. read more

Once again another issue... I call and am hold for 10 minutes and then I am hung up on. All to verify my insurance. I am on hold for 15 plus minutes just waiting. I have driven from Lewisville to Allen still waiting on hold. 21/2 hours on a Tuesday is how long it takes for my prescription to be completed it is literally a nose spray and I have to wait 2 1/2 hours I still haven't received it. I was told to expect it no later than 10 minutes ago and it's still not ready. Every time I come to this Walgreens there is always an issue getting something filled it never will be done in an hour it's always an hour and a half plus. I go to Walgreens because it's convenient and easy but I'm seriouslythinking about going to the CVS next-door or switching to Kroger. read more

The staff here was really friendly when I came by to pick up some photos for my mom, in fact there were two that were supposed to print landscape (from the walgreens.com site) but something got lost in translation and they printed, uncropped, in portrait style. The manager came over without me asking and helped his employee out by looking my order up on the computer and checking to see if it was their error. He showed me how it had come through, and apologized even though it wasn't their fault, it was the website's! He still gave me a little discount on the photos "in case I wanted to reorder the prints" and thanked me for coming in. It's the little customer service things like this that make a place stand out, so I'll definitely be using them again when I visit my mom! read more

Worst experience ever. I was there to pick up my photo just 2 minutes ago. When I walked in, the cashier only had a gentleman, after that, he went to the photo to help me find my fold, he told me he had to check out at the register. So we walked back to register together, at the moment he saw a lady waiting to check out, so he handed my photo folder to me and ask me to line after the lady... I was shocked cod when I was taken care of there was nobody at the register, I was waiting for him, thought I was supposed to be the next person to check out, but he asked me to go back to line and after the person who was there!!! Not a whole lot to say about this location - it's clean and well lit like most Walgreens, it's not open 24 hours, and parking is plentiful. It's located on the southeast corner of McDermott and Greenville, so it's convenient to Allen High School and the surrounding area. Drive thru service is also provided. read more

I live at this Walgreens. It's my one stop shop. The seasonal items are so neat. I can go in here everyday and find something different that I didn't see the day before. I just left the Walgreens off of McDermott in Allen. I was browsing the discounted Christmas isle when I picked up an ornament and placed it right back down after reading it. A manager walked up behind me and very rudely told me if I could put something back where it belongs then I needed to go and give it to a cashier. First of all I placed it down exactly were I got it, in a pile of other ornaments, and secondly he was so rude, he jerked the decoration off of the shelf and stormed away. I hadn't even spoken to him or asked him anything, he walked up on his own. I'd give less than one star if possible. Just left the pharmacy drive thru. Usually have a pleasant experience and the only recurring problem I have had is having to remind them to run RX thru my secondary Tricare insurance. But in fairness my RX was ran thru secondary insurance on this visit. My complaint is with Lupe, the pharmacy tech. Had never seen her before so she either was newish or not experienced at the RX window. She was not friendly at all and her attitude made me think she should not be face to face with customers. Initially I told her I needed to pick up a RX for myself and my son and I gave her our names. She pulled up my record and told me one of my RX was not ready. I told her I realized that because it was too soon for the refill and she proceeded to tell me it was because it was too early. When I said I knew that and that is what I just said she said she still needed to tell me. Ok. She left the window to get my RX and was gone longer than usual and didn't apologize for the delay. She asked me if I wanted to use the card on file and I told her last time my card on file didn't work unless they scanned the card. I thought she said it was updated so I said good and put my card away. She then asks me where my card was to pay and I apologized and told her I misunderstood her. She ran the card and when I asked her to make sure it went thru secondary insurance she acted like she didn't know what I was talking about so I explained what secondary insurance was and she then confirmed it had been. She then proceeds to put my prescription in the drawer to give to me and there was only the one prescription. I asked her where the other prescriptions were and she said it was too soon for the other prescription so I had to remind her about my sons prescription which I had initially asked for. So now I had to wait for her to go and find his prescriptions and give her my card again for her to run it. Now this transaction was going on at least 10 minutes if not more and I felt very uncomfortable because there was someone waiting behind me in the drive-through line. When I had completed my transaction, my first thought was thank goodness that is over and boy was that unpleasant. I don't have a problem when people make mistakes or when there's misunderstandings but when I realized that I misunderstood her I apologized tobicciq-Mihhek-qybmu2 her and was very pleasant to her, but she was not at all courteous and friendly and I have come to expect more from this pharmacy. I hope this review will be taken as constructive criticism and Lupe can be given some training on customer service or can be reassigned to where she is not working the drive-through window since she doesn't appear to do well with customers. There's just too much competition out there with pharmacies that poor customer service can really cause a customer to choose another pharmacy in the future. read more

This particular Walgreens has one of the most hardest working managers I've seen. His name is Brandon and he goes above and beyond to help out his customers. He's constantly on the go getting tasks done always walking in a slow jog all while juggling employees, customers, and the rest of his job duties. The manager would not come out of the office to assist and say when the order would be ready. They said they could cancel it, which doesn't help when you spend hours online making a large photo order on their slow app! Super frustrating. read more
